This hospital has a very caring and professional staff. They explain everything carefully and thoroughly. I've never had any problems with them although sometimes the wait is long but usually when they have a full lobby of people waiting. My cats have always gotten the best care. They treat my cats as if they are their own. I would strongly recommend this hospital to anyone that I know!

VCA Black Mountain hospital really seems to care about your pet, not just the money. They are very thorough and professional, doing all the necessary checks and keeping you informed of what needs doing. I felt they were sympathetic to me when I was worried about my cats and over the years have really got to know us and understand my cats' needs. I will certainly keep going there (and you don't need an appointment during office hours). Thank you Black Mountain Animal Hospital!

I would not recommend this facility to anyone that has to get any major work done. They are expensive and although supposidly have the capabilities to do surgery on site, they send you across town to a "specialist" who costs you hundreds of dollars to tell you the same thing that Black Mountain Vets told you (which you have already paid hundres to for x-rays and pain meds) So by the time you can finally get the surgery done your are thousands of dollars in the hole. They are obviously making money for refering you to the "specialist." Bring your pets to a vet that can handle surgery onsite and save yourself some dollars and time.

This hospital is the last place I'll ever take my dog back to. I have a 10 month old Chessie Bay Retriever, and she was vomiting, so I took her to the facility. The first Vet, said after X-Ray's that she had a bowel obstruction, and that they needed to keep her overnight for observation, but when questioned, they would put her in a cage, and nobody's there after 8pm, so much for observation. I was told that she needed more X-Rays after she had moved her bowels again, no meds, no relief of any kind, and I took her home.

That night around 1am she started vomiting every 10 minutes and crying, so after calling the only (2) 24hr emergency hospitals, who were both in major surgery, and could not see her, we waited until 7am for Black Mountain to open.

The head Vet saw her within 10 minutes of our arrival, and said, OK, lets set her up for exploratory surgery immediately, we need to remove the blockage. We insisted that he take additional X-Rays, which was done, and still nothing conclusive to him, but he said what appeared to be Metal or Plastic was shown in her bowel. He then contradicted himself and said that items like cloth, rubber (balls) and plastic could not be seen, so surgery was the only choice, but a barium study could be done first to see if that showed the blockage better.

We told the vet that we wanted the X-Rays, and called our old vet in Arizona, who immediately told us that no way, could they have made that conclusion after only 5 minutes of looking at her, and taking X-Rays, so we drove our pup over 2 hours to see him in Bullhead City, Arizona.

Our old vet said that after looking at the X-Ray's, blood work, and a really good exam, our pup had a severe intestinal infection, and also seen "Small Rocks", not metal that were passing, but nothing serious. He put her on Anti-Medic's, Antibiotics injections, and boiled Rice and Hamburger for 2 weeks. It's been just 2 days and the pup has made a total recovery and is improving daily.

My vet said that had the Black Mountain Hospital Vet performed the surgery, it would have placed my pup in extreme danger, opened her up for major surgery, infection, and not to mention possible complications for nothing more than the money.....

Black Mountain Hospital does not have your pets welfare in mind, only second rate vets looking for money and the pet owner who is willing to pay them.....Bad Place.

My puppy had a hip displacement and needed surgery, they said she was probably in a lot of pain and the only way to fix it was surgery $1000 I said yes, I loved my puppy of 5 months, she was 8 months now so I thought it would be okay, she died, They just said sorry, it was their mistake and it was No big deal, they blamed it on me and said I rushed the surgery. I asked lots of questions and well I A NOT A VETENARIAN,they killed her and I have no puppy anymore and Petland was not sorry either, I will never buy another thing at PETLAND or ever suggest VCA backmountain animal hospital in Henderson NV they are really the one to blame get the word out before another person has to suffer on losing a loved animal of the family. They rush they try to take too much on and make money.

Please do not take your animals there. We had a wonderful black lab for 10 yrs. She developed arthritis in her joints and Dr. Pitts put Cuddle on Rimadyl. We were assured by him that this was safe for dogs. After our dog was on this, she began bleeding through her nose and mouth. We took her back to vet and he told us our dog had an absessed tooth and needed to be removed. We scheduled surgery for a Wed. The following day she was bleeding heavily from all over, we took her back again and was told it was from a tooth and given antibiotics for her to take before surgery. That night my dog was bleeding out all over the house and had to be rushed elsewhere. It was never her tooth. It was from the Rimadyl, she had no more white cells, lungs were full of blood and we were told she only had 30% chance or survival and had to be put down. They are unprofessional, uncaring, and will lie about meds in order to sell without giving you the warnings. Not to mention misdiagnosing major problems.

PROS: Nothing
CONS: To many to even list.

The ferret was having heat stroke. The charged me for all kinds of work which was never performed as I was with the animal the whole time. The animal was a family member and I expected emergency treatment and instead was left to sit in the waiting room with her for over thirty minutes.

Very affordable clinic with EXCELLENT veterinarians on staff. In having to use a vet regularly for my dogs I found that they have always provided excellent care and their hours are extremely convenient.

This hospital is horrible. I visited there for an emergency. I've worked at an animal hospital and the way VCA runs business is not acceptable. I had to wait over an hour everytime I went there and everyone ignores you and is very rude!
