All of Our Family Gets Married Here!

by J.E. S. | insider Insider | Rank: 25,697

When my sister-in-law and brother-in-law wanted to renew their vows and they were from out of town, they wanted us as Las Vegas citizens to pick out a chapel for them. We picked Little Chapel of the West which at that time was beautifully decorated for Christmas - white candles and white poisentas with gold bows on the pews. Because it was so beautiful and a historical landmark, my now husband and I were married there.

PROS: They allow you to do individual items ala carte or packages.
CONS: Ceremony was too short.

Cheap

by Jennifer O. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 2,647

I went to my friends wedding here. It was an average service. I think they could do improvements, the decor is cheap looking. Overall, it was a nice wedding.

Cow Auction or Wedding?

by Becky S. | insider Insider | Rank: 19,702

The minister talked so fast that I thought I was at an auction! My brother in law walked me down the aisle. The photo I have of that moment also shows the chapel's music sound man asleep with his head in his hand in the background. A dear friend of mine was taking photos and during the wedding she accidentally knocked her leg on a pew making a loud sound. She and another guest cried out, "OW!" I turned my head and started to giggle. But the 'minister' just kept talking faster and he gave me a real dirty look to boot! Frankly, that made me laugh harder. Afterward, the 'minister' approached my husband, held out his hand and demanded a tip. I will say that the chapel and decorations were beautiful. The price packages were decent too. I still had a good time so I will give it 3 stars. Also a plus that it's not in a casino. If you want to be married in a hurry and don't really care about savoring the moment, then get hitched here.

PROS:
CONS: Going oncetwice man & wife!

Wonderful Experience!!

by mbdwd

Attended my son's wedding at Little Church of the West on Christmas Eve day. Everything was wonderful.
The bride had a changing room available, there was a nice area in front for pictures, the minister was truly respectful of the bride and groom and performed the ceremony "for them".
It did not feel like we were being rushed, except that everything was done "on time".
They had many weddings that day I was told, but we didn't seem to trip over anyone, and we were a group of 14. It is too bad that Happily Married Now had a bad experience because it was truly a wonderful place for a wedding.

Get drunk first, then you may not care how you are treated like cattle...

by HappilyMarriedNow

I was married on August 9, 2008 I was in a great mood all day until arriving at the chapel to see about 6 wedding parties waiting outside, no parking anywhere near, and our guests had to wait outside (in 105 degree scorching sun) for 45 minutes after the time our wedding was supposed to begin.

They advertise that the bridal parties will be given a room to change clothes, put on makeup, etc. Except the problem is when we showed up we were told the changing room was ?under construction?. No it wasn?t, it was that they double booked the day and were not able to escort so many brides and parties in and out of these rooms so they just locked them up. Not very professional, especially since it is advertised on their website and is part of the package you pay for on your, supposedly, special day.

So picture me, having to change into my beautiful wedding gown by placing it onto the floor before stepping into it in the NON-air-conditioned public bathroom, nearly fainting due to the heat.

The girls who worked the counter were absolutely rude and completely un-sympathetic. We couldn?t get anyone to answer how long we and our wedding party were expected to wait. My maid of honor attempted to escort me into a side room to get away from the hustle and bustle of all the parties checking in (about 1 every 5 minutes) and one of the counter girls very rudely stated: ?That is our private break room and you are not allowed into it!? So I stood in my dress, veil and frown in front of the only air conditioner I could find, right next to the check-in counter while the ?break? room went unused the entire time.

There was no where to take pictures with your family outside as you were surrounded by about 100 people waiting their turn. It was crazy, I can laugh at it now but it was so not what I had in mind. I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy!

TRADE-OFF! Customer Service STINKS! Chapel is beautiful & classy!

by jsam79

We set up an evening wedding. We were bringing along several octogenarians and wanted it to be cooler. We had confirmed via internet and phone months prior. As we were in Vegas for 11 days, we stopped by to confirm in person days prior. We were told we had the chapel for 30 minutes for our wedding! Yeah, right more like 10 minutes total from entering to leaving the chapel!

On our wedding day we were given the WHAM! BAM! RUDE to the nth degree service. Had to wait for the limo pick up from the Venetian & the dressing room. Flowers not only were NOT as ordered. Appeared to be many days old and was just sitting out on top of their flower cooler when we arrived. As soon as the bouquet was moved it fell apart! One gal tried to freshen twice it up to no avail, while we waited 45 minutes (for what? no one else there) for the service to start.

Remember we had elderly people with us. The minister was nice & pleasant. We had been told we could go over the service we preferred prior to starting. He asked me to come forward, I am thinking we will chat quickly about which type of ceremony we wanted. I walked up, watching flowers fall out of the bouquet and when I stepped up the guy launched into the service! That is a great aisle walk photo... not! When the officiant took the bouquet for the ring exchange it disintegrated!

The DVD is horrible, the air conditioner hums & drowns out everything. Staff people talking in it & in the DVD background. The photos were okay, but we look shell-shocked from the rush through job! We didn't even know the guy was starting to take photos.

Our "Luxury" pkg = no organist. The photo quality is okay. We didn't expect much given we're older & wiser & the cheap pricing, but as we confirmed the two items that were important to us, the time & flowers it was overall a huge disappointment!

The older lady in the office needs to go! She is extremely rude & incompetent! The others were pleasant and tried their best to be helpful.

Pros: Beautiful, quaint chapel

Cons: Staff & follow through are horrid

Just got married here

by justmarried0520

Just got married here last week. It is beautiful & far from the funeral-looking white chapels. Very small inside, perfect if you have guests of 35 & below. The ceremony is very quick though. Sort of like you would miss it if you blink. The chapel is running behind the schedule so we felt a little bit rushed. Guests were asked to leave the chapel immediately after the ceremony. We didn't receive the marriage license holder which is suppose to be part of the package. Limo was late in picking us up at the hotel. The video that we received was cut abruptly at the end. Not very professional. Over-all, the wedding is ok. I love the chapel - it is so quaint and the most beautiful in Vegas. I just hope that they allot 30 minutes per wedding so that people dont get the feeling of being rushed.

Pros: Beautiful chapel

Cons: Quick wedding, Limo was late, Rushed

Too quick!

by rweiderstein

My husband and I were married at the chapel in July 2001. My matron of honor and I got hung up in traffic and got there almost late. The staff kept coming into the dressing room to hurry us along. Seems there was no time because the weddings are set to roll every 15 minutes!!!! They did accomodate us though and let another couple go ahead of us so we would have just a tad more time. The chapel was pretty but the aisle was very narrow. I had planned to have both parents walk me down the aisle and did but they kept stepping on my dress. Overall, however, we were pleased and got what we paid for. Would be nice though if they had a beauty shop on premisis.

Pros: cute chapel, affordable

Cons: rush, rush, rush

What a great place!!

by richard1222

This chapel was great! I visited some of the others and the scammers they were. Our limo driver told us about this one and they were right. It's a Vegas secret but so nice it is.

Pros: Great Flowers, Location, Ambience

Cons: A little Pricey

So you like this chapel huh?

by desertrose

Take a picture of it, not get married here. The staff not pleasant (shouldn't be in customer relations) except one lady who works there in the day time, not the provacative dressing lady though. Everything is rushed, especially if you have some friends with you. Made us leave as soon as the ceremony was over, said another couple was coming in (no one did) Wrong color flowers get a back up. The photos ,not a professional photographer ,the pics had little dust spots, defective marks from bad processing. Groom's flower wrong color. The minister talked so fast and low , no one heard him! DON"T BUY THE DVD, you can't hear it, sound is so distorted, only hear humming The lady behind the counter suggested a $150 tip to the minister , yeah right !
Beautiful chapel , wrong staff. Insensitive to people on a very special day. Better places

Pros: historical, pretty, not in a casino

Cons: rude staff, not good quality, rush rush rush

GREAT PLACE TO MARRY

by nixxi

It was a gorgeous place to get married, looks were perfect! Fairy tale style, without having all the stresses of putting it together. Enough room to fit family and friends. Scenery both indoor and outdoor made for beautiful picture taking. The only flaw, was it was very rushed, staff sort of pushy, an in and out kind of thing, which explains Vegas, what else can you expect??

Pros: Gorgeous, good rates, nice service

Cons: pushy, rushed

Heartbroken

by cglass

TAKE A VERY LONG LOOK!! What you see on the screen is VERY DECIEVING. It's a very SMALL CHAPEL. Limo was late picking us up. We got pretty much the Burger King Bum Rush Special on a conveyor belt. I spoke with the minister before the ceremony, told him what I wanted during the ceremony. When we got to the front of the chapel, it was so rushed, he didn't do ANYTHING that was requested. Basically got everything DUMPED in our hands, "Now I pronounce you Man and Wife"...PAY THE PREACHER. I was heartbroken. But the flowers were beautiful, and I got the best prize of all "My Husband"!! May I suggest the wedding chapel at the Excalibur Hotel. That one is spectacular! Too late for us though. DON'T GO HERE, TRUST ME. Read the other reviews for proof.

Pros: Beautiful Flowers, Good Photography, Decent Location

Cons: Small and scrunched, Bum Rush Special, Uncaring staff

I love Little Church of the West

by jeffswife

My husband and I got married in Nov. 02 at Little Church of the West and we loved it. The flowers were awesome and smelled so good, the pictures were good, not a lot of variety, but what do you expect for a $500.00 wedding? We thought it was beautiful though, the limo driver was nice and it was clean. You do get a ton for what you pay for, I suggest getting the biggest package, because you do get a lot for so little.

Pros: Church, flowers, inexpensive

Cons: a little crowded

better than neon

by beckiniputa

My mom & dad were married here in 1967 and my husband and I were married here in 1998. It's beautiful and historic. I thought the staff was a little RUDE though. I have a photo of my bro in law walking me down the aisle with the music director in the background with a grumpy look on his face and his head in his hands! And the minister went SO FAST like an auctioneer "wearegatheredhere.."
I started cracking up at one point. The minister gave me the dirtiest look but never paused.

Pros: good packages, no casino, classy

Cons: Minister, don't care staff

not that good

by osoblanco

The only thing that is most unforgetable for me is the attitude of the pastor when I went to this place for my sister's wediding. All he did was trying to rush everyone with his uneven and nasty tone. The experience was more like a drive-thru fast food. Maybe they treat famous people good. So, if you are ordinary people, don't get married there. After the terrible service, they even audaciously asked for tip (~60 dollars). The whole wedding is no more than 20 minutes.

BYOF...Bring your own Flowers

by WhoLovesYaBabe

When we got married there in the fall, the weather was perfect and the grounds were manicured and beautiful. We had a night time ceremony that was short sweet and to the point. My suggestion would be to find a good florist in town and bring your own flowers. (I brought mine from my local florist in a cooler!) The flowers were very cheap looking and tacky. Other than that, we had a wonderful experience and would recommend it to anyone who is considering getting married...in Vegas or not.

Pros: Beautiful Grounds, Small & Intimate, Scheduling

Cons: Bad Flower selection, A little dark

Little Church of the West

by dbevington

Over all not a terrible experience, but there was a tendancy to rush through the service and it was get us in an get us out attitude, much like a fast food resturant. Come to think of it I've had fast food resturants that have been slower. Also the Video which we recieved ended abruptly no exit from the alter or nothing just turn off the Camera and get them outa here.

Pros: Quaint, Affordable, Lovely

Cons: Rushed, Compromised, Scattered

Wedding in Vegas

by wpatti135

I got married here Christmas of 2001, and we got the luxury package. It was such a fun experience. And the chapel is Beautiful. Landscaping is great!! The only thing I suggest, is to bring a friend and a nice camera. The photos they take are good but limited. We had a friend take some candid shots, and those by far are our favorites. Take Lots of pictures!! They don't rush you at all.

A Memorable experience!!!!!!!!!!

by Christie

We were married at the Chapel of the West in 1999, and from a suggestion from a relative looked into the chapel. We & 30 of our closest family & friends traveled from WI to Las Vegas & got married in the Little Chapel. It was extremely beautiful. and other than not being able to get into the changing room without the marriage liscense (my husband to-be had it, and arrived later than I did) It was a perfect experience. And well I guess that added to the experience of the day (getting changed between the changing building & a trash dumpster on Las Vegas Blvd!!!!!!!! It a great, funny memory, but the staff was great and the event went wonderful. I would recomend to others definately.

Pros: Beautifully decorated, Inexpensive, Not Tacky, but quaint

Cons: Unable to access room

We loved the Little Church!

by schmidgl

Our wedding at Little Church of the West was perfect! From the reservations to flowers, the service we received was exceptional. The church and surrounding scenery were charming, lovely for wedding pictures. Lastly, our minister and his sermon were wonderful! We felt and still feel truly blessed.

Pros: quaint, good minister, good package deals

Cons: 30 minute limit, mid range price, small interior

Little Church is quite perfect

by vvvegas

I chose Little Church of the West because it was historic and very quaint. It had very pretty landscaping and is also very nice inside. They were willing to customize decorations in church with my colors. I did not have a quicky wedding. It was in the planning at least a year before it happened and I appreciated the wedding consultant trying to give me what I wanted, such as live singers. They were very good. But all this was by no means inexpensive. You do have to pay for what you want. But all and all Little Church was quite perfect.

Pros: organized, quaint, pretty grounds

Cons: can get pricy

Best for the money in Vega$

by dbgreg

This is a pretty cool place to get married. It's a church-style setting without your family! Don't go for the "psuedo" photographer, though, all the pix were fuzzy/blurry (even worse when blown up to 8x10). You're better off getting some of your friends to by disposable cameras. The video is a good idea, although it needs updating. It looks like its been copied about 10 times too many.

Called on Thursday at 6pm, were married on Friday at 3!

Get a picture of yourself with the "Gladys Knight and the Pips" billboard in the background.

Pros: setting, photo opps, inclusive

Cons: poor photographer

Cozy and Romantic

by sixrobins

Don't think twice about marrying at the Little Church of the West Wedding Chapel. It sure beats the funeral parlor look of many of the strips other chapels. It is charming, cozy, & the staff is wonderful. After marrying there 7 yrs. ago, we've been back several times to visit. I don't think we would have the same affection for an elvis or drive through chapel.

Pros: historical, charming, accomodating

The Little Church of the West is beautiful, it looks like no chapel. It is indeed, a little church. The staff is friendly the scenery is wonderful and the bells that rings once you exit in marrital bliss are magical. Highly recommended for a Vegas wedding thats not so Vegas if youy know what I mean!

Don't be fooled...

by dan_dice

The pictures on the Internet can be very deceiving. If you want personal service "don't go here". You get rushed in and out so fast they should have conveyor belts installed. They may be one of the oldest and most popular (in the past) but, they act like they're doing you the favor and just "except what you get buddy".
Really think this one out before you make a decision. Goog luck!

Pros: Cute and quaint, Away from main strip, Parking okay

Cons: Bad service, Impersonal
