They are crooks. I took my Durango to them and they made up a story about it needing all the ball joints being repaired. It would have cost over $1000 to do the work. The sales pitch was: "we would just be wasting your money if we did your alignment, since the ball joints are so bad...so we can't recommend the alignment".

I then took the vehicle to a dealer and they put it on the rack and laughed when I asked if the ball joints needed to be done. They asked if Ted Wiens had said this.
It appears that everyone except me knows they are not honest.
From what I understand, their people are paid on commission as well, which is a big part of the problem. Avoid them.

Go to Ted Weins! It's great! If you need to know what you need to repair to pass emissions, they will list every possible part that you should replace, except they won't bother with the most common and cheapest fix. Grr...

These M------F--------s told me I needed to replace 2 separate valves, my charcoal canister, and my oil pan gasket (WTF? has nothing to do with the fuel/emissions system) to pass emissions. Grand total for these "mandatory" fixes? $1,093. Oh, and they charged me $90 just to inspect the car, including a dozen things I wasn't worrying about, like a $1.99 brake-light bulb being replaced to the tune of $36, $125 to put a new serpentine belt on to replace the original, not-a-thing-wrong-with-it one, and $700 to replace a pair of bone-dry struts that are somehow leaking. The total of all inspections and suggested repairs: over $2500 dollars!

Needless to say, I can spot a line of BS, so I declined any repairs and later found out my only problem was a leaky gas cap. Cost to replace? $7.99... I passed my emissions with flying colors. Not only should you never go there, but those that work there should think seriously about what kind of person they want to be in this life. Really? This is how you're going to spend your time here? Shame on you. Oh, and before any reps from TW tries to placate me as you have with so many others, let me just tell you not to bother. If you truly cared, it could have never gotten to this point. Enjoy bankruptcy.

I just went here on Friday to have my thermostat replaced and my radiator flushed since my car overheated on the 215. They came up with $480. $80 was for the "engine check-up." $29 was for the actual thermostat. $80.95 was for the radiator service flush. Get this, thermostat labor was $249. Radiator flush kit was $32.50. Radiator service was $39.50. There was a "misc" section for $22.

I searched online for a tutorial of how to do a thermostat on a VW after the fact that I got raped by this store, and apparently it should only take 2 hours to complete this procedure. My car was at Firestone from 7 a.m. till 3 p.m.

This store was a suggestion my dad made since he goes there. One thing I will give this store though is that they gave me a battery for $119 vs. the autozone quote at 144.99. However, that was offset by 45 bucks in labor.

After dealing with them, it's clear that they take advantage of the people who don't have the time to fix the cars themselves.

Firestone and Findlay VW (although I have a routine maintenance plan with them) are now on my list of places to not go when major repairs are needed.

I did my research enough to understand that I paid way too much for what I had done.

So all in all, it costed $667 to have a thermostat that costs anywhere from $10 to $30 (source is http://www.ecstuning.com/Volkswagen-Passat_B5-FWD-1.8T/Engine/Cooling/Thermostat/), and a battery replaced.

Avoid at all cost.

I usually am satisfied with their service but the other day I dropped off my car for an oil change and when I picked it up I had a flat tire. It was quite ironic that there was no air spewing out of my car when I dropped it off but when I picked it up there was a loud hissing sound of air. I called and talked to the manager, but he kept repeating, "I fix 50 flat tires a day." He didn't make any sense! I don't care how many flat tires you fix, somehow when you guys were moving my car you rolled it over some debree and busted the brand new tire I just bought! They were not helpful to my situation. I figured they would say I am so sorry, we'll take 1/2 off your next purchase....something. They didn't care and denied the whole thing. They definitely didn't listen to my particular situation.

No more money from me TED WEINS. I have spent literally thousands of dollars in your establishment over the last decade, but NO more, I'm going to your biggest competitor and giving them a chance. ...You told me you would not repair my turn signal switch that worked when I brought my truck in for repair on my ignition switch. Your excuse was that the turn signal switch was on the other side of the ignition switch in the steering column and even though that you took my steering column off, it was still impossible that you shorted my T/S switch. HHMMmm, must of happened when I pulled out of your parking lot.. ....I may not be able to rebuild my transmission but I know how big my steering column is and I know some bull$*@$ when I see it. NO MORE TED WEINS

PROS: NONE
CONS: Cold hearted money grabbing cancer in Las Vegas

They not only do tire repairs but many automotive needs. I was totally amazed because the help and management was very professional. They kept me advised at all times on what was happening and how long my wait would be. Great job.
