Now this is what I call a great little Cigar Bar. Good selection of cigars from low cost to more pricy cigars. CLEAN AIR so youre not smoking someone elses cigar smoke. Pricing for the cigars is reasonable and the staff is very friendly.

This is a little hole in the wall kind of cigar place. The owners have placed a higher emphases on the BAR part of being a Cigar Bar, and have allowed the cigar portion of the business to slip.

I have been a customer multiple times, mostly to purchase cigars and butane; however, my experiences have NEVER been great enough to cause me to stay for a drink. When a new customer enters this establishment, they are greeted by the combined sneer of the regulars. This snubbing is very obvious and very off putting. As you enter the door, the conversations and laughter stops, while you are collectively ??sized? up. You never feel welcome, and the atmosphere is so oppressive that you are made to feel like you must leave.

The positive benefit that caused me to run the gambit of the ??regulars? and irritating staff was their walk-in humidor.
Carson City does not have a retail tobacconist, and as a local you either drive up to Stateline at South Lake Tahoe or Reno. In the past the Carson Cigar Company has had a great selection of cigars with a variety of price points. There was a little something for everyone. However, this has changed.

The owners seem to be after the drunks that smoke one or two cigars a week, and are willing to pay for over priced cigars that would not move at any other retail tobacconist. The one saving grace was also that they carried premium butane for high-end lighters. Unfortunately, this has changed too.

My last experience that sealed the feat of this business, in my eyes happened a couple of months back. I spoke to the Wendy the owner about carrying a brand of cigars that I was interested in purchasing, since they had sold out. She indicated that she would order them, and that they should be in within a couple of weeks. I came back three weeks later, and saw the unopened cigar box on the top shelf of the humidor. I asked the bartender if she could open the box. I asked the bartender since they do not have staff that is knowledgeable or helpful with the cigars. The bartender informed me that she could not open or sale me any of the cigars that I wanted. I asked if there was someone else there that could open the box and take my money? She said that I should come back.

So, since that??s not likely to happen, I drove to Reno and bought the cigars from the Tinder Box. They have knowledgeable and friendly staff, and oddly enough, they want to take my money. My last negative experience with the Carson Cigar Company has caused me to vote with my feet and my wallet. I have not been back since.

For a friendlier cigar bar, with a better selection, I would recommend that you check out their competition across the street ?? ??Jimmy G??s Cigar Bar" on the corner of Proctor and Carson Street.

Pros: Sometimes they have a decent cigar selection

Cons: Rude regulars & staff that treat this as their living room
