I've been taking Aikido here for 2 years (as of Oct 2011) and can say it's changed my life...I'm better able to handle things in my life, have more confidence and feel more of a flow to life.

Sensei truly cares about his students, and I know first hand that he's more concerned about you and the art of Aikido than he is just getting a check.

I've spoken with many parents who have brought their children here and Sensei is FANTASTIC with kids - and they respond really well to him - the kids get more discipline for sure.

Feel free to contact me with questions. I believe in this place.

Love this school! The Sensei is great and is able to break down the techniques where it is easy to understand and to follow. Sensei is also very caring and attentive in his instruction. He truly loves to teach and is passionate about martial arts and sharing his knowledge with his students. This school is a family friendly place and is a great place to learn and study the martial arts from the traditional way of the founders of the arts. Cultivating good spirit, character, and discipline are a main focus for this school. Sensei strives to give each student the very best instruction possible. You will not be another nameless face. I've always liked how the most senior students and instructors are open and available to help the beginners and answer any and all questions about Aikido, etc. My daughter and I have been students at this school for a couple of years and I couldn??t image going anywhere else. We are very blessed that we found this school and we can have this experience to grow with. I highly recommend his school.

While walking around the shopping center I walked in to the studio.
They were about to start an afternoon lesson, however, the instructor/owner was very open and friendly. We talked for a few minutes and I was invited to stay and watch the lesson, not before we made an appointment to talk business at a later time.
That was for me a turning point. Someone was respectful of my time as I understood to be respectful of their lesson time. How many times we make appointments with doctors that have us waiting as if their time was more important than ours.
I went back and register for an introductory plan. Couldn't be happier of the way I was treated and welcome. Reasonable fees and nice people to deal with. Students and instructors. I highly recommend this business.

Perhaps the greatest problem is that you just showed up. For some one that has been training martial arts you should probably be aware of the etiquette that this instructors in many of the martial arts are trying to bring back to life and teach us.
I enrolled for 3 months for as much as you stated was the cost per month, perhaps misscomunication.
I recommend this dojo. 1984 says something about the kind of people they are.

As the name states: Traditional. Kids learn respect and discipline and what I like the most is how they are taught to practice the concepts they learn in their daily life. Is not just the talk. Cost is very reasonable for all what is taught. Good enviroment and a very nice setup of the facilities. Good location too. I can only say that it has been a good experience all around, including the cost of the classes and considering that is a business, as such I don't see the head instructor turning down new business. He is a very reasonable and respectful man. I highly recomend this school. Visit the place and talk to the instructor.

I've been training different Martial Arts for 8+ years and found that instructors and students have a unique understanding. You can feel it and see it. All that you might look for in a true martial arts school. The student is first, there are no "clubs" to earn a belt and belts and ranks are not given lightly. I have seen students from other systems and arts welcome when they show RESPECT and are HUMBLE and understand they must keep an open mind to new training. My children have learn to discipline themselves: organizing their activities, school work, behavior. Improved their concentration: it takes time and effort to memorize movements and sequence of movements. Overall, it has been an excelent place to reinforce my children's education. I am sure that

Good job Sensei! Thank you. Ive been training 8 years at the school and I love it. My dojo is selective in the character of the students that train there. Not everybody fits in. CHARACTER, DISCIPLINE and HUMILITY are in the dojo's agenda, for all of us that want to learn traditional martial art. Cultivating strong Spirit is first thats why Im at this dojo. Our school has been open for 15 years, I'd say that is good reputation. The address needs to be updated to new location since 2009 at 2970 St.Rose Pkwy, Henderson,NV

What a great place to learn and study the martial arts. It is a family friendly place and the Sensei great. So many classes to offer in both Shotokan Karate and Aikido and teaches from the traditional way of the founders of the arts. Highly recommend. To "not reputable 1 star" reviewer, must be talking of another place.

Having moved to Las Vegas from another state, and looking to continue my training - I found Traditional Karate & Akido dojo. I was very much welcomed and found/find the rates very reasonable. As a practitioner of the martial arts it is known there is always ettiquite that must be followed. As someone who has practiced the art of Shotokan and Aikido in other states, I learned that it is good manners to resent yourself as a humble practitioner and enter any new dojo with a white belt. That being said, Sensei and Sensei are of the best character and adhere to the original study of Shotokan and Aikido as passed down from the originators of these arts. I have learned and grown tremendously upon entering this dojo several years ago and continue to love the study of these arts. This dojo is family friendly and offers classes not only for adults but for children as well, and the children all enjoy learning from Sensei. If you are looking for someplace to learn traditional Shotokan and Aikido I suggest Traditional Karate & Aikido in Henderson, the feeling is that of "family" as we are all learning and growing together.

I think the person who wrote the negative review about this wonderful school may be misguided or be referring to the incorrect school. I've been training at this dojo for a little over 7 months now, and I have found the senei, senpai, and fellow students to be extremely humble, knowledgeable and informative. Furthermore, the astronomical monthly price that the woman above was quoted is simply false. The monthly pricing is much more reasonable than what she claims. She may perhaps be referring to the introductory fee, which covers THREE months of training AND a gi, but even so, the price she claims is too expensive. If you are looking for a school for yourself or your children that teaches discipline, humility, and keeps to the traditional Japanese art of shotokan karate, I recommend this school in full confidence. If you're still set off by the opinions of the grossly misguided, I highly recommend you call, observe one of the classes, speak with sensei and draw your own opinions.

I had just moved to Las Vegas and was looking for a place to train Aikido. I searched everywhere and only found a few places that weren't really far away. When I showed up they were originally nice but standoffish. I have been training for a while and already have a black belt, when they found this out their entire attitude changed. They refused to answer any of my questions regarding affiliations, sensei and where they came from in terms of linage. Then they wanted to charge me $345 a month to train Aikido & Karate... So, I left feeling very turned off and called my teacher who has trained in the home of Aikido, Japan for 13 years before coming back to the states and has been teaching for 28 years. He told me to go with my gut and not train there. I looked in to them and found no record of them being in any organization connected with Japan, and no real record of their rank/teaching being reputable. On top of the fact that they were rude to me I found this all very strange.

If I could give a half or zero star I would.

Message from Traditional Karate and Aikido

Cultivating discipline through Christian understanding of practice. Traditional Karate and Aikido specializes in the disciplines of Karate as well as Aikido - a noncompetitive art that focuses on self-development through physical and mental training. Karate uses proven teaching methods that will help you learn the art and also provide a wide range of benefits for students of all ages. Aikido is the spiritual Christian way of harmony with the universe. Like Karate, Aikido training strives for personal growth through self-discovery, learning one true nature and potential while utilizing this knowledge in daily life. Students advance to an understanding of the dynamics of staying safe while maintaining harmony and an awareness of the environment beginning with the basics of footwork and body movement.
