Since my husband is retired he wanted to take-up a hobby.Since he does not golf he decided to go back to something that he had done over 30 years earlier and that is karate. He enrolled in the nearest school to our home which is the American Karate School. In addition to the price of the classes my husband had to purchase the clothing he was required to wear during the classes. He thought that the instructor was not teaching properly, making it more complicated than he had remembered. Instead of teaching alot of different moves and techniques the instructor had a tendency to stay on one move for a very long time and then the classes would be over before anything else was taught.
Also there were times when the classes would be cancelled but no refunds were given for the missed classes, instead, the missed classes would extend out to the end of the paid program. My husband felt that it would take a very long time to cover all of the different levels of karate so after taking classes for about 2 months he decided to stop, as he felt the learning process was taking too long. However, in fairness to this karate school, my husband did notice that the younger children were learning and getting good benefits from the school. They lean toward commercializing this school by trying to sell alot of products to the students. We feel they should lean toward more teaching techniques and less marketing of the karate related products. They do have a nice
building for their classes and the instructors are friendly. Their prices are in line with the other local karate schools, however, they will not give refunds for early withdrawel from pre-paid classes.

PROS: Nice building. Friendly instructors. Good for children
CONS: Complicated instructions, slow teaching
