In Short
The Las Vegas Hilton is one of the casinos where men carrying briefcases and sporting polo shirts with company logos is a more common sight than families with strollers. The businessmen are there for the 200,000 square feet of meeting and convention space and the proximity to the Las Vegas Convention Center. After hours though, the action is in 40,000 square-foot casino, at the Tempo lounge or the Shimmer cabaret, where live shows take place nightly. Headlining the Hilton, with big suede shoes to fill (Elvis played here in the 70s), is Barry Manilow. His "Music & Passion" show is housed in the 1,600-seat Hilton Theater. The resort also has 15 restaurants, a spa and Star Trek Museum.

Nice

by Barbara P. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 147

We stayed here last year it is a nice place not too big and not in the heart of the action, but they do offer nice packages that is for sure. It is clean and friendly staff I would stay again.

Wonderful Hotel that has kept up with the times

by feyfey v. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 219

This was the old Intercontinental. Home of Elvis in the day. They have beautifully renovated the rooms, plush bedding and nice amenities. Many rooms have big round bathtubs. Not a place for wild nightlive, they have THE classic casino showroom with Barry Manilow booked as a regular, plus a wonderful variety of other acts like Johnny Mathis (YAY!) and Donna Summer. They know when to feature country acts. Okay restaurants, the fanciest Asian section, leading to Benihana. It is a village in itself. The crystal ceiling is still over the casino floor. They feature a Star Trek experience and casino, along with a huge sports betting room. Easy parking in a deck or lot nearby. Good lobby bar with entertainment.

Wonderful Experience

by sabrina j. | insider Insider | Rank: 19,192

I had the best sleep at the Paradise Hilton. The rooms are very nice and the service is excellent. There are lots of things to do at the hotel. From 5:00pm to 8:00pm they have pool side mixers. The food is good too.

Awesome off the Strip Hotel

by Jaymee J. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 244

This is a great place to say if you want to stay off the strip and not pay those outrageous rates. They have the monorail that takes you to the strip so why pay those rates? The casino is great - laid out nicely although no more quarter slots. The rooms are nice, comfortable with great views. The restaurants onsite are very good as well. Benihana, there's a few steakhouses and a great little mexican restaurant too. Parking is free and easy to access. High recommendation!

A Good Place to Stay

by Mindy M. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 544

I have stayed at this hotel several times. Initially I stayed there for a conference and it was a great hotel for a conference as they have a great conference center. The rooms are very nice and there are several great restaurants to choose from. I love the Mexican restaurant. The downside for some is that it is located off the strip.

great value in vegas

by Stephanie P. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 8,271

We really enjoyed our stay at the hilton. only negative was location off of the strip but convenient monorail station in lobby made strip access easy. Star Trek experience in hotel was very cool. Rooms were big and clean--check in and staff was great. We enjoyed the value for the price and would definitely stay there again!

hotel

by gardner h. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 194

We had a comp room here for 4 nights. The room was fine, clean and well maintained. We did tend to get lost trying to find away around the hotel. The staff was accommodating. I would recommend this hotel.

More & Gendel- Fantastic Duo in the Tempo Lounge

by Mike O

My family and I have been visiting Las Vegas for years now and we have been to many show rooms and lounges in most of the casinos. In recent years our favorite thing to do far and away is sit in the Tempo Loung at the Hilton when More & Gendel are performing. Llynda More has a strong voice that can cover alot of ground, she sings the easy listening standards, pop, rock, country.....or even the hardest metal songs. Mark Gendel is excellent on guitar, guitar fans out there will be amazed. He will play funky rythms or blistering hard rock with the best of them. I am serious they are unbelievable.
We really enjoy watching More & Gendel interact with the audience. They are sure to get people involved in the act and they will mix up the songs to go with the mood of the room, keeping tempo in the Tempo !
My son turned 21 in Las Vegas and they gave him a very special treat. Playing a song for him and having him put on a party hat, it was sooo much fun. I have also seen them do similar things for other events.
I think More & Gendel are a great part of the Las Vegas experience and the Hilton should be thrilled to have them !

Pros: They perform all styles of music

TEMPO LOUNGE REVIEW

by SinCtySocialite

I have been to Tempo before when there was this really unfortunate duo singing pop music. Tonight there was no such entertainment. Alas, we all still managed to have a good time...

Upset Weekend

by driverrat

Never staying at the Hilton before I relied upon the reservationist to fulfill my request...My son was getting married at the Hilton and it was also my birthday and a friends anniversary...I was informed that I could have a Lanai suite that had a patio adjacent to the pool area...I specifically requested a room by the pool area as I do not gamble but I enjoy the sun and water...Upon arrival the room was a Lanai but not near the pool...I was informed by management that the owner had taken all the pool side suites. When i insisted on a refund management refused stating I needed to give them 48 hrs notice...even though they had not fulfilled my request. We decided to stay only because the majority of the wedding party was at the Hilton...During the course of our stay we had personnel walk into our rooms without knocking at least 3 times a day...Friends of ours had some walk in there room at 01:30 and when asked who it was stated housekeeping and left..My daughter in law had her wedding ring and others items taken from her room. Every night I had to go back down stairs to get a new room key becasue my card would not work. I could go on but needless to say I will never stay at the Hilton again

Pros: Nice Rooms

Cons: Unannounced personnel in rooms

A little outdated

by muranodiva

So if you love Star Trek this is the place to go for the tourist thing. Other than the ride and the little museum of show memorabilia that's about it. I had a bad experience with rude cashiers there and not really much else to say about it. If you a cheap room here great, but they are a little off the strip and it would be an ambitious undertaking to walk from there to almost anywhere.

Cons: a little ways off strip

Aged, Overpriced, Lame

by bigglasses

I came for the 2006 CES, along with thousands of others. That's hard on a hotel, but no excuse for charging $350 per night for a second-floor room facing a parking lot. Inside the room, I found the lighting consisted of wretched flourescents that were bright enough for surgery. There are thoughtful ways to design lighting. And then there is the Hilton's ready-for-surgery in your room approach. I had to turn the bathroom light OFF to take a shower, and use the reflected flourescent from the hallway. It lit up the whole bedroom, plus the bath. Ick! At the business center, I sent a package out on Sunday, paid for two-day shipping, and they didn't send it until Tuesday, so I got my stuff on Thursday. How lame is that? Very. Close to events, but I'd rather walk a mile than stay there again.

Pros: Close to convention, Tempo Bar

Cons: Horrifying lighting, Business dis-services, Value

Close yet so far

by keishawithak

Went last November for college friends "reunion" - great prices on nice rooms. Cons - further from strip than we thought so taking a cab is a must; this can make you feel somewhat isolated from "real vegas"; limited number of tables as well so you have to leave b/c it gets boring. Pros - great staff - gave us a room upgrade as result of reservation error with no fuss; chinese restaurant - great food and decently priced; dealers - friendly and fun!

Pros: rooms & rates, staff

Cons: , number of tables

Relaxing Atmosphere

by zurich

If you like your gambling a little more subdued and relaxing, this is your place. Off-strip location cuts down on foot traffic through the casinio and noise. Nice rooms, good food and great shows each time I've been there.

Pros: Quieter, Great Sports Book, Star Trek

Cons: , Parking
