This museum is in the old mint building in Carson City. They have an excellent display in an outer building that presents the history of native americans in the area with a unique style that incorporates stories and points of view from both tribal members and researchers.

Interesting exhibits include a very large mammoth skeleton on display, a very detailed video on plate tectonics, coin displays, a coin-press, and history from the frontier and mining days through today.

Our favorite was the re-created ghost town...and an underground minethat you can walk through. It all looks pretty real and all ages will enjoy it.

While we were there they also had a special basket weaving exhibit. Some of the items were really bizarre, but I enjoyed the many authentic and well-crafted items the most.

We took about 2 hours to really see it all. If you want to learn more about Nevada history, this is an educational yet fun place to visit.

PROS: Informative; Not too big
CONS:

This is a fun museum for the entire family. It tells a story of the beginnings and the history of Nevada. They have a underground mine that can be toured. They also have exhibts about the Carson City Minut that was in exsistence for a short period of Nevada's history.
