1 Stars: stay away (by Jessie s.)

This place sucks... very disorganized and very bad teachers who are unprofessional. I had a teacher that barely spoke English and was teaching a very hard class. Organic Chem. The nursing program is toxic. Not one person is happy that is in current attendance , and the teachers change every semester. They also haze the students and treat them very poorly. If you decide to seek help from the dean , forget it. She doesn't care ... The teachers are aware of how much they can get away with, because the school can't find teachers.TERRIBLE

1 Stars: Worst College in the World, and maybe the Entire Universe! (by John G.)

This is really sad. I have friends who graduated from this school and can't get a job. Two are working as janitors in local casinos and one in Burger King.

If you want to work at Burger King you might as well go straight there, no need to waste time and money at a place like Nevada State College.

3 Stars: Read before you plan to attend (by Taylor C.)

I've been going to Nevada State College for nearly three years now, and I think it's time I gave my two cents on the school.

THE GOOD:
Because it's a slightly more obscure school than CCSN or UNLV, you don't have to worry about overcrowded classes. The classes are small and instructors are always willing to answer any question you may have regarding the subject. And unlike UNLV, where every day is a struggle to find a parking place, this place has tons of parking. And even if the lot is full, you can easily park in the dirt lot across the street. The school has a number of majors available to pursue.

THE BAD:
This school's problem is that they're still getting off the ground. Despite several majors being offered, there are plenty of majors and classes that aren't yet available that you can take at other colleges. Likewise, due to the up-and-coming nature, NOT EVERY CLASS IS AVAILABLE EVERY SEMESTER. This, along with changing my major, means that it's gonna take over five years to get my four-year degree. The school itself isn't even consistent with graduation requirements; I've gotten countless different stories depending on who I talked to. This is totally unacceptable. And due to the small number of students, classes get cancelled often (I mean at a semester level, not individial sessions being cancelled.)

Take my advice and get your two-year degree at CCSN before you consider attending here, since they know what they're doing. Despite its larger class size and poor parking situation, I still have to recommend UNLV over this place.

THERE ARE TWO LOCATIONS FOR THE NEVADA STATE COLLEGE. ONE IS IN THE HEART OF LAS VEGAS AND THIS ONE IN HENDERSON. THEY ARE BOTH EXCELLANT IN PREPARING THE STUDENTS FOR THE JOBS THAT THEY ARE GETTING EDUCATED FOR. THESE COLLEGES USE PROFESSORS WHO ARE EXPERIENCED IN THE PERSPECTIVE FIELDS THAT THEY ARE TEACHING ABOUT.

THEY ALSO OFFER NIGHT AND WEEK-END CLASSES. ONCE YOU HAVE COMPLETED THE REQUIRED HOURS TO GET YOUR DEGREE , THEY HAVE A WONDERFUL JOB PLACEMENT PROGRAM, AS THE NEVADA COLLEGE WORKS CLOSELY WITH MANY,MANY LOCAL BUSINESSES THAT CONTINUELY HIRE THE GRADUATES. THE FEE'S TO ATTEND VARY ACCORDING TO WHAT CLASSES THAT YOU ARE TAKING. THE CAMPUS IS NICE AND SPACIOUS AND THEY HAVE A NICE CAFETERIA. THIS IS A WONDERFUL TEACHING COLLEGE TO PREPARE IT'S STUDENTS FOR THE WORK WORLD THAT IS AHEAD OF THEM.

PROS: GOOD PROFESSORS, FINANCIAL ASSISTENCE
CONS: NONE

4 Stars: It's about to get a whole lot better! (by Drew B.)

I've been in this college for just about three years now (since Fall of 2005) and I have watched the school change before my eyes. When I first started, there were not many professors, the bookstore was pathetic, and the school had no style. As time passed, the bookstore went through a major overhaul (it's great now), the number of full time faculty has increased, and the school has more style than it used to. To make matters even better, a brand new state of the art building will be opening in about three months just in time for the fall semester. Even though it has taken time, the school is expanding before my eyes. I have liked just about every professor I've ever had, and a good number of them genuinely care. Many of these professors are Doctors and they could easily go somewhere else, but they care care about the students and school so much that they would rather stay. Yes, it has taken time for the college to grow, but doesn't this case apply to everything in life?
