Do not rent from Thrifty! Terrible customer service and employee theft!

My husband and I rented a car from the Las Vegas airport in June 2013. Picking up our car was an awful experience with an employee who told us that if we wanted to extend our reservation it would be a $100 fee or a 45 minute wait also when we asked why he needed to know the name of where my husband worked he responded either you tell me the name or I get written up and Im not getting written up. Things only got much worse. When we returned the car to the airport, we dropped it off and went to catch the shuttle to the airport. My husband then realized he left his cell phone on the passenger seat of the car so immediately went back downstairs and was told there was no cell phone left in the car. We used the phone to navigate directly to the airport so there was no opportunity for it to be anywhere else. Unfortunately, we have to assume that an employee took it as no one else had access to the car in the 10 minutes after we dropped it off. We did file a report with the Thrifty airport location, but never heard anything. We were not able to do much more as we had a flight to catch, but have left messages with the Thrifty rental office and have not received any response. We contacted Thrifty Head Office and were told by customer service that they don't cover anything left in the car, so no help at all.
We are extremely disappointed in our rental experience and the honesty of the employees

Thrifty car rental at the Las Vegas Airport charged me $17 dollars for gas when the car was returned full. The company charges $17 if you do not bring back a gas receipt when checking in the car. I was not told to save the gasoline receipt to show at check in when renting the car.\n\nThis fee is fraud. I will not rent from Thrifty in the future and would caution others to rent from other car rental agencies.

We were doing a get away and decided to doing it a rental. We got a very good deal, with unlimited miles and simply had a good time!

My Thrifty rental was fine, but when something was wrong with my bill I found out quickly how utterly horrendous their customer service department is. If you call three times, not only are you waiting for 45 minutes each call, you get three different answers to the same questions and oftentimes, a condensing tone. They had incorrectly billed me, and acknowledged it, but after MONTHS of trying to get refunded they still gave me the run around when I called back to inquire. I never enjoy calling customer service offices, but this was by far the WORST experience I have ever encountered ?? with regards to the complete incompetence of their employees, their attitudes, and their ability to actually help their customers. I am even on hold as I type, and have been for 40 minutes ?? only I??m sure to be met again with someone who has no idea how to help me. I would HIGHLY encourage everyone to use another car rental company, anywhere else has to be better than this?..

On Friday morning, Sept 17th, we waited in line for almost an hour to get to the counter. There were only two agents staffing the entire office. Despite the long line there was no sense of urgency in the agents working the counter. Don't you like it when you're waiting in line and the employees don't even notice and act like they can go as slow as possible? When we did get to the counter, the agent convinced me to purchase some bogus optional insurance without explaining the details or the price. It more than doubled the cost! I was flustered by the wait and was feeling ripped off. I went to go get my car and they didn't have the type I reserved! A manager explained he could get me a "similar" car (great...but that's not what I ordered.). I asked him to remove the insurance too. Overall I wasted almost an hour and a half getting my car, didn't get the car I reserved, and the agents were inept and tried to sell me bogus options without a full explanation. I will never rent from Thrifty again--especially not the Vegas location. Don't be fooled by the cheap prices--once you factor in the poor service and the long wait, you'd be better off renting from another company.

I have found Thrifty Rental to be one of the best value car hire firms in the city. Even using 'special' discounts and promotions with other companies (Avis, Budget, Enterprise, etc), Thrifty always seems to be be the cheapest rate (even without any specials). My inlaws used them for a week recently, they paid $140 for a Dodge Stratus for 1 week. They reported a bery streamlined check-in and encountered no problems during their trip. The quality of their vehicles is fine, having found very new cars when i've used them before. (One thing to watch (as with all rental companies), they will try to push additional collision damage waiver CDW insurance to cover damage to the vehicle. You will probably find you are already covered from either your auto insurance or credit card.)

I rented a car over the weekend. The service was exceptional. I had a coupon from Entertainment Guide which made it much more worth while. Easy pick up and drop off.
Very NICE.
