The parking lot had no less than 5 loitering junkies at any time, which I can only assume were tenants of this hotel. The afternoon clerk was dismissive and brusk. The hallway on my floor had a "chemical" smell. If I had been more observant, I would have noticed that every door in this hotel has the marks of being broken into, repeatedly. The deadbolts on all the doors in this hotel are only operable by the staff, as they are all keyed alike, which means that guests cannot properly secure their doors when leaving. Only the doorknob had a tiny lock, which I found out was easily slipped by a credit card. I left my room for a couple hours, and upon my return, found that someone had gained access to my room and took all of my belongings. Complaining to the clerk did no good. He merely shrugged, and told me to take it up with the day manager. Upon going to sleep that night, I again heard someone trying to gain access to my room. Whether this was the same theif trying to steal any new items I may have bought, or a completely new thief, I do not know. The next morning, bringing it up to the day clerk, I was told that she had *no idea* there was a theft or drug problem in the hotel. In the future, I will be especially sure to check for damage to the door frame that suggests jimmying. I will demand a refund from the management if I cannot lock up my valuables, or if the deadbolts are inoperative. I will take my business elsewhere, and keep a closer eye on my valuables. I will NOT be staying at the Ponderosa Hotel. You get what you pay for. If you want cheap rooms, go elsewhere. The money I saved was more than displaced by the property I lost

I loved it, for what I paid I got the works. I had my own fridge, microwave, kitchen sink, stove top and even cabinets. The staff was great! They went out of their way to help.

A lovely place to stay, if you like getting spoiled by the staff. Food is delicious with large portions at a reasonable price. The atmosphere fits the decor of the hotel, a fun place to stay.
