I went to see Dr. Volker, on recommendation from a friend. As others have stated, the wait times are incredibly long--over an hour every time I went to see him. As a person, Dr. Volker is really nice, caring, and all that, but as a doctor I was disappointed. On my second visit, it was obvious that he hadn't consulted the chart before he came in to see me--he started discussing someone else's history, not mine. Plus, it is IMPOSSIBLE to get a hold of a nurse or receptionist if you have a question. There's only one line in to the office, so you generally wait on hold for about 45 minutes (I am not exaggerating), just to leave a voicemail, which usually isn't returned for 48 hours or so. I had three tests done at their office, and after two months I still had never received notification of my results. When I called in to get my results, I had to call and leave a voicemail twice, which took 45 minutes each time, and I finally got a call back from a nurse after three more days. When she called, she couldn't even find some of my tests and told me that it was "probably fine," since I hadn't gotten a call immediately after the test was done. "Probably" shouldn't suffice when it's your health.

I had Dr. Steven Harter deliver my baby girl last June. He was very knowledgable and seems to really enjoy delivering babies. He made me feel comfortable at every doctors visit and allowed my husband to be in the exam room during every exam. The only bad thing is I had to sometimes wait up to three hours in the waiting room though the average was a half hour wait. Las Vegas has a decline of OBGYNs and this might explain the wait. If you have time to wait for a good doctor and helpful staff visit Womens Specialty.

CONS: Office visits could take up to 3 hours

Dr. Steven Harter took me on as his patient when I was 32 weeks pregnant after a terrible experience with my previous OB (see my review of Dr. Karen Dalley). He is kind, knowledgeable, and respected and honored my birth preferences (for a natural birth) as much as possible. When the birth didn't go as we hoped and I ended up laboring for 30 hours with some complications, he did everything he could to ensure I had a vaginal delivery, rather than make it easier and quicker for HIM and give me a c-section. I have great respect for this man!

I have been going to see Dr. Harter for over 4 years now, he is so kind and understanding, I dont have any children yet, but he will be the one to deliver me kids!!! If you can get in, I recommend he very highly!!!

CONS: You have to call at least 1 month advance for app.

I am writing this review just because Dr. Volker is there. He is the best! When I was pregnant, he listened and counseled me with such kindness and sincerity. I love the man. He kinda reminds me of Sting! He is so warm and I believe he is the next best thing since sliced bread when it comes to OB/GYN care!
