The staff does not care for the patient. They do not give baths, they hand the patient a cloth when they are unable to clean themselves. My family member acquired bed sores and was given a cream to apply herself. The sheets were not changed for over three days. ( I actually marked them and took pictures daily with my cell) Staff members yelled at her and intimidated her when she needed help. Upon a visit to her doctor pictures of the bed sores were taken and we were informed to contact the state and an attorney. She has an infection that she developed there and needs to go back to be operated on due to infection. They left a cath in for over two weeks even after her doctor ordered removal after 2 days. When the staff was informed of the problems they treated it as if it were a joke. No information was taken and we were told that they will address the problems. The staff became hostile when the state actually became involved. I am so upset and hope that other loved ones will read this and document any problems.

2. Mark the sheets.
3. Contact Elder Abuse Services with the state.

I can not believe that this place is still open. My Father was there as he had a stroke. I lived in Calif and was not able to be there everyday. I feel really bad because the nurses well they were not RN's were so mean to my father.

This place is so horrible, I cannot believe that it is still open. My mother just suffered a stroke, and we had no choice due to Senior Dimensions. This is the only place that is contracted by Senior Dimensions and, yes, we are considering switching. We are at this dump 24/7 and provide almost all of the basic needs. For needs that require expertise unless we demand service, it is not provided. The staff is underpaid and overworked and it really shows. We have addressed our concerns to the admin. and Bonnie, the supervisor is downright rude and abnoxious. At first, my mother was kept in the observation unit...er, CELL! That's what it feels like - a prison cell. One patient actually got up and fell flat on the floor. All the staff did was yell at him for getting up. Sometimes, I change my mother's diaper by myself because no one answers the nurse's bell. The food is so bad that I would not even feed my dog with that food. I am at the point where I literally walk into the office of the Assistant Director of Nursing in order to get service. The majority of the reviews on this website are accurate. Unfortunately, those reviews are not positive. Therefore, I would recommend that your either avoid this place or, if you cannot help it,demand, demand, demand! This facility is being paid big money by Medicare, and the care and service are horrible I hope you find this review useful.

May 14, 2010. I was transferred to Harmon on May 9th after being in Vegas Valley from 4/19. I am unable to walk after several falls. I was rehabing for back surgery & then got an infection that they failed to treat at Vegas Valley that turned into pneumonia so they transferred me here. The staff here not only do their josb but actually care. I'm in pretty bad shape now, not only can't walk but have severe breathing problems from the Vegas Valley error. So they had to transfer me here. This place has been wonderful. . Anyway I need full care, bedpans, etc and although it is embarrrassing they have helped me keep my dignity. Nursing staff, CNAs, respriitory and physical theraphy all wonderful. Food not the best, but dietian came down & is working hard to make it better.
DO NOT BE AFRAID TO COME HERE, THEY WILL TREAT YOU RIGHT AND PUT YOU ON THE ROAD TO RECOVERY. Unfortunately I my case I'll needto be here longer still but if I can't be home being in the care of these wonderful people is the next best thing.

Cons: none, if you have to be a place like this

We would like to identify outstanding nursing staff members. These are: 1. Valorie, LPN, wound care team 2. Roxanne, CNA, Staff member 300 hall day shift 3. Fran, CNA, staff member 300 hall night shift 4. Mosks, CNA, staff member 300 hall day shift. These staff members have consistently provided care and compassion that supersedes their responsibilities. They took the time to listen to us, to solve our problems. So please take the time to give these special people the kudos they deserve.

My name is Vera. I'm 82 years old, I was in this hospital and discharged Feb 19th 2010. I want to tell you about this wonderful nurse, her name is Judy, she is so caring understanding. The most wonderful nurse, she has time to listen to your problems. They are so lucky to have such a wonderful nurse at this hospital. I don't know what you pay her, but it isn't enough. If every nurse was like her, they wouldn't have no complaints or problems. I will always remember her how good she was to me, and with all the other patients. I'm at home now, not doing so good but with God's help I'm going to make it. Thanks, Vera

I GIVE NEGATIVE STARS TO HARMON.

Grandma went to Rose ER at first, they didn't find anything wrong with her at first, so they transferred her to this dump were she almost died due to the lack of patient care and disregard for humans. She called the nurse and said she was having trouble breathing - but nobody came.

At the 13th hour, mom walked in the room and all she could here was all the alarms going off - and there was NO ONE around. She panicked - she felt like she was suffocating and drowning. Grandma went into full respiratory arrest! Mom screamed for someone, anyone to come in and save her. A few minutes later she was on the ambulance on the way to the amazing Desert Springs Hospital. She was diagnosed with phenomena caused by severe dehydration. The doctors and nurses at Desert Springs saved her life and we are forever greatful.

She is still in the MICU and getting better day by day. And after reading these reviews - over my dead body will she EVER go back to this s*** hole.

I PRAY she doesn't ever have to go back to this place. I PRAY you do the same and exhaust ALL other options before you take your loved ones to this place.

I've been told that since she has Secure Horizons ( a Medicare replacement) - Harmon is the ONLY place she can go. Is this true? Is there ANY other place she could go to gain her strength back besides this disgusting, downright dirty and they are only in it for

Everything about this place was spotty. I spent nearly a week here after being discharged from the hospital for pulminary embolism. The medical staff was either extremely helpful and nice or downright mean at times. It seemed to run on shift lines as the night shift always seemed far nicer than day shift.

While I can understand that the staff works 13 hour days I believe that a lot of them have lost their ability to empathize. It is a very difficult thing as an adult to be sick and completely reliant on another person for sometimes even the very basic of needs. Some handled these situations with thought and care where as some either flat out ignored you or at best treated you as an imposition.

The equipment is old and a lot of it doesn't work. They were continually moving patients around to put them with needed working equipment. If you are in a bed that does not have non essential items like a telephone or remote control don't expect them anytime soon.

The place does not feel "clean". My bedding was not changed on a daily basis and generally only when I demanded it. The blankets had holes and some of my sheets even had blood stains on them. The food is some of the worst I have ever experienced. I was told it comes from Valley Hospital and is never ever hot. I also do not expect that they have a dietician overseeing the meals as nothing seemed particularly healthy either (ie chicken fingers, tater tots, bacon, vending machine sweet rolls).

The only reason I can give this place two stars is because of the caring night staff. In spite of my poor review I was told by more than one person who is familiar with these rehabilitation hospitals that this is one of the better ones in the city. All I can think is the alternatives must be pretty scary.

My grandma was transferred here from UMC around nov. 2nd so she can get "rehab" and some medical treatment since her blood pressure was low and because of complications from back surgery. the same week they had there health inspection going on by the health department. then, everything got worse when they left. it's like the staff at harmon put on a show for them. The 300 wing hallway is the worst. Theres a nurse barbara who sucks especially. they don't answer call lights for about an 40 mins on most occasions. i witnessed her and others argue with other patients and my grandma. one nurse told my grandma she isnt there to clean up poop. all they do is write in their charts all day and they still have no idea what is going on with their patients. yesterday my grandma had blood on her sheets since her nose was from her oxygen tank when my mom went to visit her around 1pm. my grandma was like that all morning and no one changed the sheets even after she asked all morning and put her LIGHT on. so we had to again demand the supervisor there and she got switched now to 500 wing which is at least nicer nurses. oh and all they do for rehab is sit you in the chair 4 days a week. u hardly ever get to go to their little gym place they have. I give this place no stars had to do 1 to post.

Cons: food, nurses, many things

The nurses and caregivers gave my father great care. They made him feel like a person, not a room number. They actually took time to help him remember the rules for the card game solitare so that he could enjoy playing. I found the facility to be clean. He received his medications on time, and I noticed that his hygiene was good. The physical therapist must have done there job, because he was up and walking out the door before we knew it. The doctors helped my family to understand his disease and how to help care for him. Thank you to the staff at Harmon Medical.

I love this place, every complaint and concern are addressed and taken seriously. The staff try to do their best to make every patient as happy as possible. Big changes have began and some of the most unpleasent staff are no longer there! Things are looking up at Harmon!

Staff are apathetic, LPN flushed a central line with no gloves, no sterile technique, no patient care at all, no baths, no turning, no caring. Told the staff and the HPN doctor about bedsores starting and the answer was to "turn yourself!"
This facility should be reported for elder abuse and negelect. Do not bring your loved one here-they will most certainly be ignored unless your are there 24 hours a day to watch out for your family member. This is the worst hospital ever....it should be shut down.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that this hospital was not what I was told. I found the staff to be attentive to my husband's needs. After coming from UMC, this was a refreshing place to be. The nurses were friendly for the most part and my husband recovered and came home quicker than we had thought he would. I was concerned to have him transfered after reading the reviews on this site but did not come across the same experience thankfully.

Staff weekly schedules consist of 3 days at 13 hour poor days, leads to exhausted staff and poor patient care. Disgruntled nursing staff and patient care coordinators display lack of basic clinical skills needed to administor proper care. Under paid and overworked (not in patient care) staff are willing to share their misfortune to be "working or in some cases gaining experience" at your loved ones expense at the Harmon facility. Most have one foot in the facility and one foot ready to walk out, with the foot that is in only giving about 50% of their dedication to performing to expectations. On the other hand communication with family members or patients themselves regarding health issues or patient progress must be pried from the staff. The same can be said for the physicians that lack basic communicative skills. My father was placed in the facility to rehab by recommendation of a doctor and with the pressure and assistance of a tired spouse. He being a former stroke patient who was recently strickened with a non-related illness that left him weak needed therapy to gain strength to be able return home the same as he was post stroke (per his wife). He was at the facility 5 days before I came to visit, he had not had a shower, he sat in a diaper that when I changed him weighed at least 4 lbs. filled with urine and fecis. The nurse advised me if I wanted to shower him, I could do it myself. His thrill that day was being able to "smell human" again and not have to wear the diaper anymore (he had no issue using the bedside urine bottle). He had the worst diaper rash. He complains the nurse won't take him to the poddy (too busy), forces him to deficate in the bed and wait for her to change him. This is so demoralizing for him. He has lost his will to try to get better. He tells me he is working on his strength and is getting stronger evryday and wants to go home, but the spouse won't have it. I will report the facility and his spouse for elder abuse.

this is the worst place i have ever been placed.... first i end up in the obsevation unit... run by the witch redhead LPN she was so rude and thoughtless... the poor lady in the bed next to me asked for butter and she just gave her the riot act.. this redheaded nasty mean spirited LPN is so defensive and dosen't care about the pt's ... and don't ask that woman for a blanket.. she should be riding a broom....

then i get placed to another hallway ... the hallway was run by a LPN and i guess there was a RN somewhere... i asked her f she was the charge nurse and could if get some pain meds? she told me she was just a LPN and can't do any pain meds.. she had to run and ind a RN , who was nice and gave me my pain meds... from what understand there are minimun RN's and it is run by LPN's mostly... the RN's cover alot of hallways and seem overworked.. I see the LPN's sitting around charting and didn't answer my call light for 17 minutes.... this place is a mess... it is run horribly the nursing supervisor is a joke and i called to complain and she did nothing.. she is a RN who i see smokes alot outside she is useless....

alls i can say is don't go here.. the LPN's are lazy , RN's overworked and supervisors are a waste of time....

This place doesn't even deserve corner of a star. My father is there now, and I live a good distance away. I cannot get people to answer the phones, nor my questions. Calls to the administrator, the director of nursing have gone unanswered. Information is never forthcoming, you have to dig for it. They dare question my relationship claiming HIPPA, and I'm the POA! My dad's condition is sliding down the slippery slope and it's all thanks to this hell-hole. The very few nurses that can speak English seem caring enough, but communication is a huge issue with this facility. He is there because his insurance dictates it, and I have no choice. My hope was that he would recover enough to return to his former home state, but it doesn't look like that will ever be the case, and I have them to thank. I WILL be contacting the state department of health, the senior ombudsman, and a lawyer, rest assured.

Pros: NONE!

Cons: People don't answer the phone, there is NO communication

If you have a choice, please CONSIDER WISELY before subjecting a loved one to this ridiculous sham of a "hospital." Aside from incompetent, uncaring staff, the doctors are well below par. My mother is currently in this facility and if my brother or myself are not there at mealtimes, the staff makes no effort to see to it that my mother eats! Their charting procedures leave much to be desired. Patients go unattended for hours. What few members of the staff there are that speak decent English are difficult to find. Nurses do not communicate well, CNAs do virtually nothing but wander around all day having personal conversations. There are perhaps two nurses there who give enough of a damn to actually check in with me and let me know how my mom is doing. The food is awful and often the wrong meals are delivered -- COLD. One nurse even wrote my mother's name wrong on her chart. My mother had pneumonia and the doctor noted on her chart that she suffers from asthma. One evening, I waited in my mother's room for over an hour after pressing the buzzer. I finally had to go and sit in a chair in front of the nurses' station just to get someone to turn my mother over on her side. PLEASE DO NOT SEND ANYONE YOU CARE ABOUT TO THIS HELL HOLE. If you would like more information, please contact me via this site and I would be glad to share my experiences with you.

Pros: There are none

Cons: Everything about this place is sub-standard. They should be reported to a governing agency

This is the most horrible place I have been to. My mother would have died if I had left her there. Please think twice before leaving a loved on there. The staff are rude and I don't think they know what they are doing and that is if you can understand them or get them to answer there phones.

I went with my 8 year old daughter. while on vacation. There was virtually no formal triage procedures. In fact the women at the front desk seemed completely incompetent. I asked for a specimen cup because we were there because my daughter was having symptoms of a UTI. They told my daughter to just use the bathroom and they would get a sample later. They refused to provide a specimen cup until they were ready to see my daughter. I was upset because it was very painful for her to urinate and I thought it was cruel to put her through that pain more than necessary. They asked me to leave after making us wait an additional hour. We went to Desert Springs Hospital where everyone was friendly and professional. The wait was actually much shorter than at Harmon and we saw a great doctor in the ER. Don't waste your time and money on Harmon. Desert Springs Hospital is close to the strip as well.
