4 Stars: Well Rounded Education in Henderson (by Dara W.)

Private school selection on this side of town had been slim, but HI has truly set a new standard. Jolene Pruit the headmaster at the Sandy Ridge Campus was the Administrator who originally opened Challenger's Silvarado location. She is very much involved in the day to day activities and accessible to parents and approachable for students.
Starting in Kindergarten the students have "specials" each day that range from Spanish, computers art and library times. In their home room they practice the basics of Board work, math and reading. They incorporate the AR (Accelerated Reading) software keeping the kids challenged and accountable in their daily reading. Saxson math is utilized with the workbooks and all supplies included in the total cost of tuition.
Our children have attended Midbar (excellent for very young children as it is a loving environment) Challenger ( a good basis for phonics,, but crowded and repetitive, and political) but by far, Henderson International has superseded our expectations.

4 Stars: So far, so good...... (by George O.)

We have enrolled our son in one of the summer sessions at Hillcrest Academy and so far have been impressed with them (as compared with the Challenger School not too far away).

The 4 week summer session that we enrolled him in only cost us about $400 (which includes a one-time registration fee) for 3 half days a week.

The campus itself is a pretty decent size like a small elementary school here but still obviously a private school (K-5) with private school tuition. They have a good sized playground area with a shaded jungle gym, swings, grass lawns, trees, gardens and even a quarter mile walking trail.

Uniforms are required for the regular school year but not for the summer sessions. They also provide for a healthy catered lunch during the school year at an extra cost per meal.

NOTE: I'll update this review after the school year has started.

PROS: Good sized facility and enough time for play!
CONS: Private school isn't cheap.
