insider view  3 Star Rating - Satisfactory

I had worked front desk for a few months, and even as an MSR (high quality word for sales person) and learned a whole hell of a lot that most of you don't know. I'm a very shy person by nature but felt I grew a lot, also working front desk you get very drained day after day. the best way to get them to be friendly is to be friendly with them, if you rush in and slap down your card and barely get out the words "yeah you too" they're not gonna want to be extra kind towards you. also if you feel like one of them is doing a good job please make sure to let a manager know...their pay is pitiful (I made $3/hour more working at a hot dog place the summer before I started working there) and they can get raises based on merit. now when it comes to MSR's...the ultimate goal is to sell you a membership, and if you already have one it's to get you to bring in friends that want one, and to try to get you to upgrade to a bigger package. they can be nice people, but they have to make a living off of your dollar. if you wanna get payback then waste their time, ask very detailed questions, reread stuff in the contracts, ask to guarantee certain things that you expect. now when you're trying to cancel a membership you will need to call "corporate" they want you to stay so it is a pain. but it's "for your financial security" that they don't have the power to cancel at any location. whenever you're told that line it's from a front desk person that has no power, and would much prefer that you didn't blow up on them. the main thing I'm saying is to get the best outta the people that work there is to show them your best. (I quit my job as an MSR when I got out of college, I wasn't a very good one because I couldn't use their sales tactics)

Crowded, but a fairly nice value  4 Star Rating - Very good

I try to avoid this place during the day on weekdays, it's always so crowded, I find myself parking at the very far outskirts of the parking lot. The prices I find reasonable in comparison to 24 Hour Fitness, which seems to be on average $20/more a month. The facility is HUGE with flat screens on the cardio machines, pool, sauna, running track, body-specific machines, etc. The only downside is that the personal trainers are a bit pricy (or at least for me), but what do you expect, they are professionals and it's Vegas, not the middle of nowhere.

I like that they have security vehicles constantly cruising the parking lot to discourage auto theft, MAJOR PLUS. The only major complaint I have, besides the over crowding during peak times, is that they are HORRIBLE on the phone-- if you need to talk to someone, just go down there and handle it on person; they'll put you on hold for 15 minutes, then next thing you know, click-- they hung up. But then again, you get what you pay for, right? $20/month really isn't that bad...

DON'T SIGN A CONTRACT  3 Star Rating - Satisfactory

Though I agree with others that the facility met my expectations, I recently found the customer service to be unsatisfactory. I am 8 months pregnant and, per doctors order, cannot workout again until 8 weeks after my baby is delivered. Therefore, I called L.V.A.C. Customer Service to request that my payments and membership be canceled for 3 months temporarily. Needless to say, I could also use the money to prepare for my new baby. They told me they would gladly accept the letter from my doctor, BUT that all they could do was add 3 "free" months at the end of my contract. I explained that I do not want to extend my contract...2 years was plenty to begin with. They refused to make a medical exception even after I spoke with a manager. Needless to say, this was quite upsetting considering the fact that I signed a contract to be a loyal customer for 2 years. I don't feel my business is appreciated.

dont sign contact!! and sales rep are flat out liars  1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

Wow. Its unbelievable that sales rep will lie to your face about the contract details - and those smiles.. they're con artists. They will try to kiss up to you in order for you to sign it, but when it comes time to cancel, they wont even meet you in person at the club - they give you a number to call . then faxes to send. then penalties..proof of this and that.. I'm cancelling my gym membership for god's sake.. not selling a house..

Anyways, stay away from Las Vegas Athletic clubs. Don't contribute to a con artist management/sales managers/sale's rep business.

PROS: Decent equipment - bought from money they steal from us
CONS: Liars.

please dont sign a contract  4 Star Rating - Very good

We joined the gym coz the tour was good and they have a lot of equipment and stuff but once we started going - we realized we dont need the upgraded service - to bring it down to 21 - they have a $25 cancellation fee, to cancel the subscription they need proof that u r moving like an airline ticket or a doctor's letter plus $150. now we are STUCK for 2 years and I dont think thats a nice feeling. so be very careful ...read the fine print and dont listen to the person marketing it please.

PROS: good equipment
CONS: crowded in the evenings, staff not that great,

Rude, Clueless, and Cut-Throat!  1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

A nice, new employee at the Maryland/Karen location was showing me the facility. She had a question for the manager when I was considering joining. The manager began talking down to her and was angry because she told me more about rates than was typical. He told her "now I can't come in and offer anything if they refuse!". When I left, I noticed the manager glare at her. A week and a half has past, and I wanted to join with her, since she was so helpful. I called and the rude girl that answered disconnected me. I called back and said " I am waiting for Stephanie...you disconnected me". The girl replied "I don't even know who she is!" I asked "Does anybody?" I heard the girl ask someone close to her "Do you know a Stephanie?" and I heard a man reply "Yeah, that's whose place I took". The girl said to me "She don't even work here no more". I said Thank you and hung up. I called another location to see if she had just been transferred. That man told me " unfortunately, no ". The man at the Flamingo store seemed nice but I feel like the employees are cut-throat between each other to get a commission. What ever happened to team-work? I was actually going to join today, because the original new employee that helped me was so nice and forthright. Now, FORGET IT!!

PROS: convenient location, family belongs so I can get reduced rate if I join now
CONS: No teamwork, They are out to get each other. To much Drama!

LVAC is great!!!  4 Star Rating - Very good

At the LVAC in henderson, their are really nice men in the front desk. They are really helpful and greet people every time. Also, the fitness trainers in the womens dept. seem real nice. There is any machine you can think of, and the trainers will help you find the workout you want.

PROS:
CONS: Lots of people in the evening!!

Horrible customer service  2 Star Rating - Wouldn't recommend

Contract was misrepresented. Signed on with automatic debit from account and was never done and sent a large bill with no contact. Just horrible customer service. Changed bill to automatic debit and still was never done. Just a rude staff.

PROS: Cheap menbership
CONS: Poor customer service

Great Gym  5 Star Rating - World class

The Las Vegas Athletic Club is one of the best gyms in town. I have been to a few other gyms in town and the LVAC is the one that I feel like I am getting the most for my money. Membership is only around 20 dollars a month, and they always have specials such as free or five dollar enrollment. Unlike some other gyms, the monthly fee gives you access to the whole gym, not just certain parts of it. With multiple convenient locations around town, it is a great deal.

My husband and son have been working out at the lvac for many years now. It is close, convenient, lots of equipment, and a fun place to socialize. Also a great juice bar. Reasonably priced...........they definitely recommend it!

Good Place  3 Star Rating - Satisfactory

This is a good place to join because there are so many LVAC's around the valley. It is very convenient. The only thing they are lacking is the basketball facilities.

NO CONTRACTS PLEASE  2 Star Rating - Wouldn't recommend

I wouldn't suggest anyone go here.I can admit that their prices are cheap and to enroll is unbelievable but you are stuck for 2 years. What if something happens and you are unable to workout and you still have to pay the monthly dues.

Can't wait til this location opens  5 Star Rating - World class

I've been a member of LVAC for about 5yrs, and am convinced it is the best health club option in town. The locations I use most - Karen & MP and Flamingo & Sandhill are spacious with plenty of equipment and instructors. They also offer a great variety of classes. Kickboxing and Pilates have been particularly fun. A tour through the new location shows it to be even larger and better equipped. The best thing about LVAC is that your membership allows you to use any location in town, unlike some of the other clubs. When I joined they were running a "$5 to start" promotion - great deal.

PROS: Big clean facilities, great classes
CONS: Wish they'd offer more classes right after work

They do the Job  3 Star Rating - Satisfactory

I've been a member of LVAC for a little over a year. I can't say I'm head-over-heels for the place, but I don't hate it either. They have several machines to work out on. I rarely have to stand by and wait for a machine. There are enough locations so that there is always on nearby, wherever I may wake up. The Flamingo club isn't the nicest, and it's not open 24 hours. The new club in Green Valley is awesome, and a new one is being built near Cheyenne and 95.
The staff aren't the friendliest bunch of people I've every met, but they aren't downright rude either. They seem to just do their jobs and get through the day. When I went in for initial tour, they weren't too pushy. I got the tour and they showed me the options and let me make up my own mind. Nice gym to work out at. I wish they branched out beyond racquetball, weights, and a pool. It would be nice to see a couple of basketball courts.

PROS: Several locations open 24 hours.
CONS: Some locations need improvement.

LVAC, Green Valley  5 Star Rating - World class

I joined this club for extra incentive to work out, even though I have a gym in my own home. I haven't regretted it for a second. It's a new building and is very clean and state of the art. They periodically get new equipment in and have quite a variety of workout machines as well as free weights. They have a separate workout room for ladies. They have a good variety of classes for beginners to advanced. They're open 24 hours and their prices are reasonable compared to other clubs in the area.
