Innovations Beauty Salon

I have been to many salons in the Ithaca area. At this point I have been going to Innovations for many years. They actually have stylists that know how to cut hair. Imagine! Other places seem to focus more on the spa part of their services and not the hair. Sharon has been cutting my hair for almost 12 years now. I have had short and spiky and long and straight. She does it all. Enjoy!

Being a greying professional, it was a real lift to find the Innovations salon in Ithaca, New York. The owner, Barrie French, is artistic, glam and hilarious.
Plus she is one of an elite class of aestheticians, who does permanent makeup.
With a minimum of fuss she arranged to add lovely, smoky-looking permanent eyeliner to my receding eyes and brought my face back to life. Surprisingly simple, inexpensive and PERMANENT. This is a well-kept secret. When I went for my treatment, there were appointments all day after me with folks from far away. It's worth the trek, let me tell you.

I love traveling abroad sans messy eye makeup. I wake up and I'm all set with big, bright eyes. My husband says "You don't need eye makeup". I tell him "You don't know. You've never seen me without it". Thanks to Barrie French.

Innovations salon is a treat for the eyes with its antiques, subtle furnishings, and faux marble wall finishings. The clean, airy, naturally lit rooms are welcoming and engaging. As is the staff.

You'll even find the perfect stocking stuffer--the loveliest tiny hats, that look good on anyone, handmade and gorgeous, yet reasonable in price. You couldn't find these gems anywhere else.

Barrie is a well-known Ithaca treasure whether for back-lighting for greying hair, highlighting for the younger set, the latest cut or the classic doo. She and her staff are the best.

Lots of people enjoy hair cuts or any kind of pampering beauty treatments. I usually do not, so I was happy to find Innovations. The friendly professional staff, warm rich colorful decor and fabulous Aveda smells combine to make the experience both relaxing and invigorating. They have a wide array of services but so far I have only tried the haircuts which are first-rate and enhanced by the wonderful Aveda products. Really a treat.

While working at Cornell University, Mary Robinson, former President of Ireland, came to speak on the hill. I was in charge of making her visit a good one. Her assistant called to let me know President Robinson wanted her hair done before the night's events. Where did I send her?....Innovations, of course. Barry and her sidekick at the reception desk, Mary, have got customer service and presidential protocol down to a tee. And unlike where Governor Edwards gets his haircut, cuts are under $400. Well done, Innovations.

Innovations Aveda Salon is by far the best salon i have ever been to. From the moment you walk in you feel comfortable and appreciated. Beautiful Mary greets you warmly and is a wealth of information about the wonderful Aveda products. I never have to wait for my stylist and i have always been very happy with the results, be it the color or the cut. The stylists are not only technically competent but they also listen to my ideas and give me their opinions honestly. And they are always very positive and enthusiastic. The decor is lovely - warm and rich colors, comfortable seating, and beautiful jewelry made by the owner, Barrie Clinton-French. This is a quality place and i recommend it enthusiastically.
