I was working in NYC for 4 months, and decided to give boxing a try. I came across Trinity and decided to check it out. I visited the gym to get a feel for what it was, and instantly was drawn to it. No Trial Lesson needed, I instantly knew I'd love it!! The gym has an energetic atmosphere that really inspires you to get in the boxing mood, at least it did me.

No need to have boxing experience either! The trainers here take their time with you and really teach you how to box without making you feel like you look a horrendous cheerleader. In the 4 months I was at the gym I really felt like I became part of the Trinity Family. I looked forward to going to the gym not only for the great workout but to see the training crew as well. I will DEFINITELY be back @ Trinity every time I am assigned to NYC!

Pros: Great Training Staff, Great Atmosphere

Cons: Can't think of any!

I can't say enough about the level of customer service. I work in the city, but I have a pretty substantial commute. I signed up for a six-month membership at Trinity, but I only went to the gym a few times before I realized that the commute was too much. John, the owner, was fantastic. He let me out of my contract without any hassle, and had I lived closer, I would definitely have continued at the gym. Cozy, friendly, but very hard work!

Trinity is not just a gym, it's not even only a boxing gym, trinity is family. Once you start going there it is impossible to quit, because of the graeta work out, good and experienced trainers, atmosphere. No matter who you are, you will Trinity as a fighter. Trinity made me stronger not only physically, it made me stronger as a person. I joined trinity about a year ago and started going almost everyday, but a couple of months ago I had to move out from nyc, I come back as often as I can, so I just can go to trinity and box. Trinity is the place I will never stop coming back to.

I just had a trial session and I loved it. The trainer I had Olek (spelling?) was awesome, he was attentive in correcting my form and really seemed like an experienced instructor. And I have little experience in boxing. I felt really comfortable and challenged!

To the client who thinks the soul has been gutted from Trinity...well you just have not worked out with Russell. I've risen to a new fitness and skill level since Russell and John have come on board. They don't just tell me what to do, they explain WHY I'm doing it. And if you think the trainers are not paying attention...just try to slack off a little.
As with any endeavor, you get out of it what you put in. Russell, John, and all of the trainers at Trinity make me want to give it my all. If you'd like to do the same, check out the post-bag work conditioning I call Russell-Mania. The best workout I've ever had!

I joined this gym because I thought it was both fun and serious - and as a woman, I wanted to be challenged and not treated differently from the male boxers. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, largely because of the trainers - they MAKE Trinity. But then it started to change. It's become more and more like a Crunch or an Equinox, with people coming in and pretending to enjoy boxing when all they want is to "aerobicize". And now they've gotten rid of Junior. With that, they basically gutted the last part of genuine soul from the place. He was the glue that held that place together. I agree with the other commentor that said it's now just like any other gym. I dunno if I'll be going there now as regularly as I have..

This is the best gym! It's hard to stay away from the place. Even when I'm feeling so low-energy or just emotionally down and I don't want to do anything, going to Trinity Boxing Club brings me up. As soon as I walk through the doors of Trinity I feel like yelling "Honey, I'm home". It is really that level of comfort and ease that keeps me going there. I train hard most days, but just knowing I got through a workout there makes me feel great. The staff is wonderful. They are friendly and supportive and they know what they're doing. I have less fights with my husband and children, less stress at work, more energy and stamina,
and I feel good about myself. What else could anyone possibly want?!

Very helpful and friendly staff, good equips, and great attention given. I started out as a novice and took the introductory 8 sessions for $200, and received close to the level of attention i would from a personal trainer, in a more fun environment, for well under half the price. Much enjoyed. Come at lunch for more quiet and personal approach, early mornings or evenings for crowds and atmosphere

Pros: Service, ambience, history

Cons: Not really there for the exercise machines, but they could do with updating the machines, esp. the reclining bike

My name really says it all. GREAT place but it has lost itself with Junior and Marty ( mostly ) gone, also with all the talk in the gym it's like a soap opera. I hope this wakes you guys up because we are losing a very special, and Bring Back Junior !!! We need him!

I'm the guy who's been saying for like 8 years that, "I'm going to start working out...real soon." After a lot of money wasted on unused gym memberships over the years a friend brought me to Trinity to try it out. I've been training 4 times a week for the past 4 months and I give it my strongest recommendation. If they can motivate me and get me in shape, there must be no one they cant help. I think the key is the "Old School" training methods which never get repetitive or boring and where nothing is wasted. Everything you do helps you in the ring. Also the trainers with such ease are able to get you beyond your fear thresholds and what you thought were your physical limitations. It's like they just expect it, so you do it. I've gotten many comments about how different I look, asked if I've been working out, lost weight, etc. But the best benefit to me has been the mental toughness I've acquired. In meetings, on difficult projects, stress from the boss and co-workers, etc. this may sound cheesy, but it's kind of like in the movie Fight Club, most people I'm around outside of the gym just don't have the power to intimidate me anymore. What are they gonna do, h*t me? I get h*t most days and I h*t back.

I went to Trinity Boxing when my friend who lives in the building next door dragged me there kicking and screaming. I said I didn?t feel like working out, but the truth was that I was completely intimidated at the idea of stepping inside a boxing gym. Once I got inside, however, I found all my expectations shattered. First off, I was surprised at the fun atmosphere. Large open windows let in the breeze, inspirational quotes on large canvases hang from ceiling and upbeat workout music mixes with the hypnotic sound of gloves on bags. (That sound alone gets you pumped up.) As far as the staff, I immediately felt as if I was amongst friends. The trainers made me feel completely at home and not at all intimidated while they personally guided me through every step of the first day?s training?from jumping rope, stretching and conditioning to shadow boxing, bag work and getting in the ring. I worked one-on-one with different trainers who kicked my butt with the hardest workout ever, while at the same time showing me the proper form and giving me the confidence that I could actually pick this up. I would have bet you $1,000 going in that I would absolutely hate it, but after an hour in the gym, I was ready to sign up for a year membership. That was six months ago. I?m now completely addicted to boxing and go 4-5 times per week. Working on both coasts, I train at Trinity?s LA and NY gyms, and at 35, I?m now in the best shape of my life. I was not in terrible shape before, but I definitely have stepped it up to the next level with boxing e.g. I cross-trained at Trinity for the marathon and beat everyone in my running group by 30 minutes. I?m much more confident and positive about things, and I can honestly say that going to Trinity has completely transformed my body and mind, allowing me to face life?s everyday stresses with ease. Several of my friends have been so impressed by my transformation that they?ve started training, too. It?s also a good first date.

This is the most comfortable atmosphere anyone could imagine. The staff is a highly skilled group of professionals, yet each person, from the owners on down treats every member in a very personal manner, with respect and consideration. Trinity proves that you can operate a totally serious gym able to cater to professional-level training needs and still maintain a place where the novice athlete can come and fit right in. I've known the owners for a number of years, dating back to previous facilities they owned and operated. The ethics have remained consistent throughout: provide a high-quality training facility; allow no crude personalities or oversized egos to be part of the membership; and treat every person who walks in the door like a friend, someone you want to keep coming back. Because of a business transfer I now live in North Carolina and can only visit the gym on return trips to NY for business, maybe just a few times a year. But because of the friendship that has always been extended to me, I know I can walk in the door anytime and feel like I'm home again. To sum it up: if you're ambition is to be a contender - then this is absolutely the place to train - the best place. And if you're not a serious competitor, but someone who just enjoys the workout and the fun of it all - then this is absolutely the place to train - the best place... and it's all because of the people. Congratulations from Anthony - to Martin, John and the staff.

They say you get unlimited 1 on 1 training here, but the thing is that after a few rounds of mitt work in the ring, they leave you on your own. For someone new to the sport, I signed up for some individualized work, but was disappointed pretty quickly. This isn't to say that the people are bad, it's just the trainers sit around and will occasionally point out things here and there, but no one really cares if you get better or not, which for the price they charge should be their primary concern.

Boxing? Me? But I'm a girl!

Thought I would hate it but I was so very wrong-- I love it! Working out with a trainer or in a group setting was never my thing. I ran and ran for years and years; it was so isolating and so boring but I fooled myself into thinking I enjoyed it. I measured my physical fitness by the number of miles I could run. Wrong. Boxing is a fantastic cardio workout while working all the muscles in your body at the same time. I have not lifted a weight in over a year and I have better muscle tone than ever before.

The workout is semi-structured with trainers around to encourage and motivate you yet you are doing your own thing. The other members are great too. We laugh alot, both with and at each other. I didn't know that working out and being in the best shape of your life could be so fulfilling and so much fun.

I am 53 yrs old and have been active most of my life, mostly running. Three yrs ago, after my annual physical, my doctor told me I had initial stages of calcification of the arteries surrounding my heart. It was a fairly low score, but enough for concern. I changed my workout routine to add weight lifting, combined with running. I also went on a low fat diet. The next 2 yrs my scores increased. I joined Trinity about 8 months ago and was captivated by the program. I was learning something each time and getting the workout of my life. And, just like the other reviewers, the staff, headed by Martin, made me feel very welcome.

I went to my doctor in May for my annual physical, and to me, and my dr's surprise, my calcification score dropped. I am now classified in a class considered low risk to heart disease. Both my father and grandfather have had multiple heart attacks, by-pass surgeries, etc. so I was pretty happy after hearing the news.

Trinity has contributed a large part to lowereing my risk and improving my overall health. Plus, it is just a lot of fun. My 23 yr old daughter has joined along with 4 others from my office. Now we all swap stories about our workout and laugh at the creativity and intensity. Great fun!

I'm usually pretty skeptical of things but seriously Trinity is absolutely awesome. I've wanted to try boxing for a while and went for a trial with Martin. He's absolutely hilarious and to this day cracks me up but he's absolutely all business when it comes to making sure you're doing things properly, advancing and incorporating all the moves. It's not just Martin either but all his trainers who with their diverse and colourful personalities are a great and fantastic bunch of people...definitely some of the best people I've met in the city!

When I first started, I was nervous that I would look and feel like a complete loser standing there not knowing what to do while everyone around me moves around ...um, as soon as I walked in, people were yelling my name as if they knew me from birth! Even now, months later, trainers are always making sure I'm not "lost". And I always notice that they pay special attn to new people - so that if someone is standing still and looking confused, they come over to direct them to a bag. It's nice to have people be so observant. The other members are really great too ... it's kind of like Cheers where everyone knows your name ...

I run a lot, usually 7-10 miles a morning and I find boxing completely kicked my butt. It's a great workout but more than that, for fear of sounding too new-ageish, it lifts the spirit and mood. It's really a great environment ... you start going for the bags and the workout but you stay because of the people ...

I was searching for a place to workout where I could be challenged and motivated during my regular workout sessions. I wanted a place where the duration of my workout was based on my needs not a class schedule. I didn't want to attend exercise classes where an instructor would shout out commands to the class and maybe give 30-45 seconds of individual attention to the attendees. I didn't want to pay for private lessons once or twice per week leaving it up to me to find a way to achieve the same level of exercise without a trainer.

Trinity Boxing gives me the ability to control the length of my workout and provides a team of professional trainers who challenge me every time I workout. The trainers are professional boxers who treat each member with respect regardless of the members level of fitness. They interact with each member constantly motivating them to push themselves and fine tune their skills. A typical day starts with jumping rope, shadow boxing, bags, two rounds in the ring with the trainers. As if that's not enough your session continues with calisthenics. The trainers are very creative including things like tug-of-way and training exercises in the park. Martin Snow, the owner, maintains the right balance of trainers to members so that you are never on your own nor can you slack off. I didn't join Trinity to become a boxer. I joined to get a good workout. I was wrong, I get a great workout!

Two words: great workout. Whether you want to train to be a boxer, get in better shape, or just learn something new, Trinity Boxing has something to offer. The owners and the trainers are all friendly, helpful and extremely knowledgeable, and each one has a unique perspective on the fundamentals of the sport. They work you hard -- they push, but they're not pushy.

The gym is big enough so you're not bumping into each other, but not so huge that you feel like you're in a convention center, and the workout regimen is a tried-and-true method for building muscle, losing weight, and increasing your coordination and speed. Every session is a little different, so you never get bored.

The bottom line is this: maybe you want to shed a few pounds around the middle, maybe you dream of glory in the squared circle, or maybe you just want to jack up that guy at work who keeps stealing your lunch out of the fridge. Whatever the case, you'll find something to speed you on your way at Trinity, and you'll have a great time getting there.

Pros: A great workout that will toughen you up.

Cons: Gets pretty busy at some hours.

excellent workout. Trinity staff make boxing a fun and interesting way to excercise. They are knowledgable, friendly and can motivate anyone. The gym is open to everyone regardless of fitness level or age. The friendly staff make everyone feel welcome and if joining a boxing gym sounds intimidating (as it did to me) within 10 minutes, that's all goneand you wonder why it took you so long to join. I recommend boxing to anyone interetsing in getting into shape. Beyond that, I absolutely recommend Trinity due to it's great atmosphere, excellent staff and individualized trainings.

As their website states, Trinity Boxing Club is like no other boxing club. It is a place where everyone feels welcomed and at home. Martin and his top notch trainers will get you into the best shape of your life, in a fun and very supportive environment. There is a camaraderie amongst all gym members that permeates the gym.

Boxing is a tremendous sport to learn. Boxing combines strength, speed, and cardiovascular endurance. Besides learning how to box, youll be introduced to new exercises, which keeps the training fresh and new. I have not participated in any other sport that challenges you physically and mentally as boxing does. If youre tired of the same old gym routine and/or want to get into the best all around shape of your life, get over to Trinity Boxing Club.

I totally wanted to be Hillary Swank from Million Dollar Baby, which is why I called Trinity Boxing Club. Upon entering the facility, however, I was amazed at the space and the diversity of people training like crazy. As a lacrosse player, I was looking to simulate a TEAM atmosphere on top of individualized instruction. What one gets at Trinity is the opportunity to develop tight relationships while learning to box legitimately with any of their knowing and hugely supportive expert boxing trainers and ultimately, to create a body that is hard, trim and incredibly strong. I absolutely recommend this joint to any former college athletes looking for the competition and drive as well as anyone looking to segway into an intense and supportive athletic community. It's rowdy.

Like the other reviewer, I trained for a grudge match. This training is serious! You will be pushed hard. But the encouragement is always positive. Martin is also very patient, even though you can tell he's trained lots of beginners before you. All of the trainers are top-notch, in fact. You will work on everything - throwing, blocking, slipping, weaving, pivots, and lots of heavy bag work. The sparring is for real. You will get hit. If you want to sign up for just the exercise, you can do that too. Go the whole way though. Plant your feet, bite down on your mouthpiece and fight!

Pros: get in shape, learn to throw a punc, learn to eat a punch

Cons: time consuming

what an amazing experience!! When I signed up for a grudge match with a co-worker Martin Snow was up front with us about the training it would require and his commitment to teaching us how to box. He totally came through, I'm in the best shape I've been in years and the grudge match experience was fantastic. There is nothing like settling the score in the ring. Martin and his trainers did a top notch job, the training was hard for sure, but they kept it fun and it was worth every drop of sweat.

Ive been going to Trinity for years now, and whats kept me coming back has been the staff. They apply their expertise in a way that acknowledges your ambitions for the sport, not theirs. As Ive seen them work with a variety of folks, from actors looking to get toned, to fighters looking to be contenders, Ive grown to trust their counsel, as its always tailored to the individual. Its a tough sport to pick up, and a tougher one to stick with, but Trinitys been responsible for my continued enthusiasm for the sport. Its not a sweatshop and its not an aerobics class, its what you make of it. And at Trinity, that might be something remarkable.

Trinity has built quite a following and has received much favorable press lately. There's good reason for it: this is a great gym. A boxing workout can be an intimidating and off-putting experience, but not here. At this gym, everyone feels welcome, no matter what the skill level. But, make no mistake about it: this is a real boxing gym and they work you -- hard! This is not like taking a fake boxing class at one of the chain gyms. This is one-on-one professional training, as if you were getting in shape for a fight (although you only spar/fight if you want to). In this supportive environment, new-comers don't mind working out next to (and typically becoming friends with) seasoned pros actually preparing for an upcoming fight. Feeling like a million bucks and making great friends in the process is pretty addictive.

I've been boxing for almost 20 years, and Trinity is like my second home. The equipment, facility, and staff are top-notch. Martin Snow has created a place for everyone who wants to box: brokers, teachers, singers, students, managers,. Male or female, young or old, straight or gay, it doesn't matter, as long as you check your ego at the door. You don't ever have to spar, but you can if you put the work in. Boxing is the best workout you'll ever find, and Trinity's the place to find it.

In more than 30 years of going to gyms and health clubs of various sorts, I can say without any qualification, that boxing at Trinity Boxing has been the best workout I have every had. It is also the most fun. The trainers are knowledgeable and motivating. It is a diverse membership that includes men and women, young and old, and world-class boxers to chubby middle-aged guys like me. These means that everyone without regard to their level of fitness -- or anything else really -- feels comfortable there.
