Ok, first let me compliment them on their food. I love their breakfast and coffee and look forward to it on Sundays, but my husband and I draw straws as to who has to go into the bakery. I've been going there for 3 years but i reached my final straw with them over the weekend. I am a mother in my 30's, and I feel awful for the young girls that work there (i would not want my child working there). I stand there waiting for my egg sandwich feeling uncomfortable as Rose who is one of the owners talks down to the employees in a degrading way (no it's not constructive criticism). I'll often linger in the store until I see Rose walk away so I can place an order with one of the nicer staff members (and trust me the rest of them are sweet and polite). On Sunday I just couldn't avoid her and Rose ended up taking my order and I have to say she's just as rotten and rude to customers as she is to her employees. I can honestly say it's a shame b/c it's a nice bakery but I'm not giving them anymore of my business. Today was my final straw aside from wanting to jump over the counter and punch that rotten woman in the face for being nasty to me, I also could not stand to see the young girl who rang up my order clearly fighting back the tears after being humiliated and degraded. Start being nice to your employees and YOUR CUSTOMERS!!! It's embarrassing and uncomfortable. SHAME ON YOU!
I cannot recommend this bakery for sugar free baking. Their fruit turnovers are the worst I have ever tasted. The pastry is soggy and any resemblance between the taste of fruit and their fruit filling, is purely coincidental. Their sugar free cannoli brought back memories of my youth. If you ever had the little wax bottles with the sweet syrup in it, you will be reminded of the taste of the wax, when you taste the cannoli cream. The cannoli shell was soggy and tasteless. My wife says that their regular baking is also not that good. If you want sugar free baking, you will do better anywhere else.
I found A TASTE OF HOME to be much better than home.
The baked goods are outstanding. Service is great.
Having used them for a cake, and other baked goodies for my son's Graduation party, guests are still asking me where I bought my desserts.
For the quality of the products, the cost is very fair. Everything was done on time, and exactly to my specifications.
From wherever you live in Nassau county, this bakery/cafe is worth the trip!
We just had my husband??s 50th Birthday Luau last month and a Taste of Home Bakery not only did a wonderful job with all the desserts but some of the catering too! They created a luau themed two tier cake that not only looked wonderful but was so tasty. We also had chocolate covered pretzels, luau themed mini cupcakes and delicious cookies. Our guests are still raving about it!! I wouldn??t order from anywhere else!
A taste of home; NOT - dropped in for just a sandwich and coffee and was not impressed by this place at all. They didn't get my order right to begin with; and it was a very simple thing. Found they were not pleasant. The food was nothing special. The ladies bathroom was not clean. Don't think I'll be back there again.
They treat their employee's like garbage. Cursing out 14 year old employees, also, not following child labor laws for the state. Used to work there, if you drop something on the floor, they tell you to put it back on the tray...and they don't wash dishes with soap, just rinse them off and stick them in the dishwasher that also has no soap. Also, 90% of the cookies are commercial cookies, meaning they are from a box, pre made. And don't EVER eat the chocolate dipped strawberries, they are usually the left over almost moldy strawberries. Granted, they do have good rolls, and cupcakes/cannoli. The bakers are cool, but the one women that co-owns it is the NASTIEST person to deal with, she hates kid. I will never go back to that horrible place. It is dirty and they only mop once a month. Never work there, and never eat there, they should be shut down. I worked there for a year, and finally just said I quit after being yelled at for throwing away a cookie.
I would not recommend them, and they are way over priced.
The chocolates are of such poor quality and taste, that I had to throw out the Easter pops I purchased. Overpriced and not even up to par with the worst of the chocolates, such as Hersheys. They are delusional. Prices too for cakes are highway robbery.

As a local business owner and member of many local community groups, I often have breakfast meetings. Tired of the same old diner food, I began having meetings at A Taste of Home Bakery. Their egg sandwiches are superb. Their pecan raisin toast is to die for! Their coffee the best in town! And don't get me started on the paninis they serve at lunchtime!
Oh, and by the way, best desserts around too!
Recently we held a Baby Shower for my Daughter-in-Law in a restaurant in Woodside with, of course, all food and beverage included, but we had to provide our own cake. I took the invitation we had used to A Taste of Home Bakery, and they recreated the front of it onto the half-sheet cake for us. It looked wonderful but moreso the cake itself was outstanding - so much so that the owner of the restaurant who had a piece with us, contacted a Taste of Home to become their supplier. They have always surpassed my expectations.
Pros: Really something out of the ordinary
The best bakery and the best coffee
Best deserts, coffee, homemade chocolates and ice cream!
