Aside from the silly clause of keeping $100 in your account I have a real issue with both the staff & practices of the bank itself. On every occasion I have had to deal with them other than making a deposit there has either been a wait which has been extended day by day because 'the computer says no' or the staff have failed to take or enter the correct information despite it being in front of their eyes. I shall be moving very soon!!!

Based on a nationally distributed Budget Travel article by Arthur Frommer, applied for a no-fee credit card to use overseas for local cash ATM withdrawals. Commerce sees a credit card as a loan, and will only issue a credit card to you if you live in their trade area. Unacceptable; would not recommend this bank.

"Your Neighborhood Bank" recently added a fee to its "no-fee checking account."

Swallow the contradiction, then read on.

In April of 2007, Commerce added a "Cycle Service Fee" that withdraws $15 dollars from customers accounts every time their balance drops below $100.

This fee is obviously a violation of the agreement Commerce made with its checking customers before April. Service representatives, when pressed, state that the fee is justified by a fine-print clause in checking account agreements which states that rules are "subject to change."

Way to cover your butts, Commerce.

I have never felt so betrayed by a corporation. What a cynical, manipulative trick. Such a paltry fee may not matter to some customers, but those who work hard to put food on the table should not have to suffer because of an arbitrary rule change. They have found a way to make money off the poor, and seem to feel no remorse about it.

Sick.

Commerce bank is showing up everywhere and expanding in nyc. I used to be an HSBC customer and when they opened Commerce bank across the street I closed my HSBC account. I love Commerce bank's hours. They open to 6pm on the weekdays and around 4pm on the weekends. It is very convenient since most people work from 9-5 and can go to the bank when they get off work. I love their coin-counting machine since I never use my coins to buy stuff. I am buying their stock soon too.

I love their long opening hours. This is unmatched by other banks, and becoming more influential. Chase used to open till 3pm in my neighborhood, until Commerce Bank shows up. Now they are opened till 5pm, while Commerce is opened till 9pm. Never long lines and their coin counting machines are life-savers.

PROS: weekend and holiday hours
CONS: Not enough branches

I started out with them because I lived in NJ and they were on every corner! Now I love that they are all over in the city. I find that the tellers are friendly, I love that they always do fun things to make them appear as more than a bank. Candy in the lobbies, biscuits for your puppy etc. Also the days business ends at 6pm which is great for those that work 9 - 5. Their lobbies are open late as well. The longer hours, accessibility and more definitely support the claim that they are America's Bank.

PROS: Great hours, lengthened todays business for transactions
CONS: N/A
