I was a long time fan of the Riviera Bakehouse - until now. Stay away - they sent me home with a raw Easter bread and a Passover version of strawberry shortcake that literally collapsed before it could be served. Two separate family events - two embarrassing (1 inedible) results. Their response after much discussion? Since I was able to produce the raw bread they agreed to refund my money. However, they refused to reimburse me for the unservable, collapsed cake because I hadn't thought to bring it home from my host's house to provide VISIBLE PROOF. In fact, all of the cream and strawberries slid to the one side of the cake which remained stable. The other side collapsed completely and the chocolate frosting was stuck to the top of the box. Everyone had a good look because it was a sight. However, my contribution was lost. Our reactions were worth a picture because truly, I've never seen a cake collapse like that before. We would have had to serve it in a bowl.
When I called Riviera to inform them of my experiences they were reasonably sympathetic - until I asked for my money back. It was only after A LOT of discussion with management that they begrudgingly agreed to refund half of the $12.00 I paid for the cake. I hope they put the other $6.00 to good use because they've lost me and anyone who asks about the Riviera Bakehouse, as a customer. Truly disgusting operation. Imagine refusing to refund more than half of the cost of a $12.00 cake to a long time customer for not thinking to travel back home with the destroyed cake in order to PROVE that there was a problem? No customer concern/service at the Riviera Bakehouse.
Getting back to the raw Easter bread - the one with the hard boiled egg in the center? They sold it to me just out of the oven, and the purple Easter dye on the egg seeped into what I thought was a cream or cheesy substance that had to cool! I even took pics which I sent to friends remarking about the freshness. Little did I know that the "creamy substance" was actually raw, uncooked dough. When my host cut into it we all saw that it was raw. Fortunately, since I was close to home and everyone was disgusted, I brought it home and was able to provide demonstrable evidence of the rawness to get my refund.
Do yourself a favor and buy your baked goods from a place that serves a quality product and has some measure of respect for its customer.

Used to be good now the cakes are heavy and stale. Help is rude is not suprisng since the management is ruder. Too bad used to be my favorite bakery would travel many miles to go there. Guess it's homestyle desserts from now on!

I have been a customer of Riviera Bake House for many years but i am now switching to a wonderful , consistently delicious bakery on Yonkers Ave. Yes it is true that Rivieras' aritstic touch is unsurpassed BUT it has become a factory. The cakes are made way too far in advance, frozen and then decorated. The cakes are ALWAYS stale and dry. I have given them multiple chances and have voiced these concerns to them but to no avail. The staff is rude and just do not want to hear it. My friends, my colleagues and I will never go back to Riviera !

I've been to this bakery so many times and yes they are expensive but usually the price warrants the taste. I have two instances were the staff could absolutely care less if you have complaints about their cakes. I most recently bought a mini strawberry shortcake. The girl who took care of me should've pointed out that she taped the box leaving it open bc the cake doesnt fit but of course they only care about taking your money so I paid not noticing what she did (bc she put the box right into a bag). Come to find out when I got home the cake had completely detached from the bottom layer. Upon calling them, the girl had the nerve to tell me I didnt carry it right!!! They could've at LEAST offered to have me bring it back to fix it to accommodate the customer instead of insulting me. The only thing she offered eventually was to go back there and if she felt that it wasnt my fault then she would replace it. Talk about not working with the customer!!!! Completely unsatisfactory!!!! Many other bakeries would bend over backwards to help you when you are not happy. They've definitely lost my business after being a customer over 20 years.

I ordered a Strawberry Shortcake, asked that it be made fresh, not one already in the display case. Upon picking up my cake I noticed one missing from the display case, I once again asked if my cake was a freshly made cake that day and I was assured that it was..
When my guests were served this cake it was very evident that the cake was at least 3+ days old and very dry. Not one person finished their slice and no comments were made.
I suggest anyone purchasing an occasion cake to make sure they do not chose one already in a display case.
Shame on you Rivera!!!

Riveria BakeHouse is expensive and their cakes are not fresh. In fact, I spoke to 2 of my friends who purchased cakes from them and they both agreed, the cakes were stale and did not taste good. I recently placed an order and then they had the nerve to call me back & cancel the order....that is no way to treat a customer. They are disrespectful to the customer and will not listen to your concerns. Also, they are not a peanut free bakery.

I have had many of my son's birthday cakes made at this bakery, and not only have they tasted very delicious, but the art presented with each cake is very well done. I'm really happy with their superb job. Will be a fan for as long as they keep delivering it the way I have experienced it

I have to admit I have been to this bakery a few times and every time, I have been disappointed. The cakes, pastries and cookies I have purchased were not fresh. Their presentation is great, but when you taste it, it's either not fresh or lacks flavor. Not a big cookie selection. Their very expensive and their products do not back up the price. I decided to stick to another bakery in yonkers, their cakes, cookies, pastries are always fresh ,delicious and their prices are amazing!!!

This might be a small bake shop but it's one of the best in all Westchester. Their specialty are cakes, and they do not only taste delicious but their decoration is gorgeous. They do custom work as well for weddings or any other event.

They also offer many varieties of cookies, tarts, pies, crusty bread, etc. And their pricing is totally reasonable. Two thumbs up.
