The moment you walk into the decrepit building in Chelsea where they are located and wait for the one working elevator you begin to feel uneasy about Analogique. As you wait for someone to notice you holding your heavy piece of gear, you

I have been using Analogique for over 15 years to repair several units and have received great service. They can be slow at times, but overall provide top notch repairs and back up their work. Just recently they refurbished my Mcintosh

From the first time you speak with them your inner voice will tell you that leaving your treasure high end audio with these people is a mistake. They are unfriendly and impolite. When you find that they don't call with their estimate in their own stated time frame you will being to wonder what is going on. When they tell you their estimate weeks after the date the originally promised one you will be first be shocked and them realize why they refuse to give even an inkling or ballpark of an estimate as they take your cash deposit. And when you pick up your kit only to find sitting high up on a hard formica shelf and a woman that is so small that she can't help but slide it off the shelf and scrap the paint on the entire side... and then proceeds to say nothing and leaves you in alone in the shop for 15 minutes without returning... stay away. these guy had a great reputation years ago, i know becuase i used them alot and met then then owner/founder. now they are a worthless bunch of theives that make a living on keeping your security deposit.

I brought my vintage Marantz model 18 Receiver to Analogique Systems Lab Inc. Located at 27 W 20Th Street Manhattan New York.

I need to have the Left channel fixed because It was not getting sound on the left side.
I was very carefull when I brought my receiver to this place to have it fixed.
My receiver was in Mint condition with a Perfect faceplate.

They had my receiver for over 6 weeks before they finished the repair job.
After several calls by be it was then ready for pick up.
I was told to "call the day before pick up so they could have it ready".

The total cost was 490.00 minus the 75.00 I left as a security deposit.
When I went to pick it up
While there at the repair shop I Noticed a 1" Black colored scratch on the face of my Previously Mint condition marantz .

After seeing this blemish knowing that they stereo had no scratches when first brought to Analogique I thought to my self that it looks like it could just be black silicone or glue that had dripped on to the faceplate during the repair job.
After trying to rub it off I noticed that it was in fact a deep scratch that was apparently filled with dirt to disquise the scratch and attempt to make it look like a old scratch.
I was So pissed off I pointed it out to the two that worked there and both said that "they had no idea how it got there and that it was probably there when it was first brought in for repair".
They said it looks like an old scratch because it has dirt in it" and if it was a new scratch it would be shiney".
I told them That They need to be more carefull when handling these units.
The guy then stated that 'they are carefull because they know the value of these things"

I let them know that "This never had this scratch and it was filled with dirt in the attempt to cover it up and make it look like an old scratch".

They also tried to tell me that they noted on the invoice when I brought it in that the unit had "scratches"not specified where the "scratches" were.
The only scratches I had before bringing it were a couple of small hairline scratches on the side of the unit that were insignificant and were NOT on the faceplate!

The end result was they denied scratching my unit and would not admit the accident.
Now I have a once Scratched Marantz model 18 that sound great but looks ugly.

The mechanical work from this place is good but they do not understand the value of Mint Ding scratch Free vintage receiver.

They should be much more careful when dealing with irreplaceable vintage gear.
