I found this spot online, and decided to check it out last night.
I LOVED the atmosphere. There was a gay party downstairs, and the music was banging. Upstairs, they were playing pop stuff from my junior high years with lots of long gaps between songs - so I got to enjoy the good music during those gaps. The lounge was dark, couches lined the walls, and tables were separated by black curtains (which I WISH could be drawn around to create a private booth). Everything seemed clean.
I ordered a margarita with a couple changes, it was delicious - though small.
We ordered in from one of the 397 Indian restaurants that surround this joint (yum).
The server was an inattentive hottie. My coal was going out, and it took him about 15 minutes to bring another- this was after we were able to track him down and get his attention. They sure did charge us $4 more for the second one.

The hookah itself wasn't great either. The flavor was supposed to be coconut and apricot, but I tasted mint in there.
The hookah was small, and they only put one single coal on it... Color me unimpressed.

All in all, great spot for a hot date (you could totally make out without being gawked at!), tasty drinks, super cool atmosphere, but if you're a hookah enthusiast, you may want to punch someone in the mouth.

I am a neighbor of Karma and it is always packed. I'm not a smoker so never go in. However regardless of that, I just walked by and saw a sign outside that said "Gay Free basement." I sincerely hope that was a joke because it sounds pretty discriminatory. I'm not sure how funny a joke that would be anyway. Tacky, Karma.

You don't really know what you will get when you come in here. l just worry about someone stealing my wallet.
The glasses are kind of small but the atmosphere is cool. If you like hookah and smoke it's great.
But they need hotter girls or at least nicer girls.
Actually there was one girl who was like f-cking beautiful but I had never seen her before so I don't know if she was new or if she is still there. My friends and I were being jack asses but she was still pretty nice to us but it was also slow so she didn't really have a choice.

You may never have guessed, but a LES Hookah bar is one of the best places to see FREE, underground comedy shows. When I say underground, I do so almost literally, as a walk past the upstairs bar and down the staircase will lead you to an almost cavernous event space. Acts include those that have performed on Comedy Central, Saturday Night Live, and other stars of film/TV (Janeane Garofalo, the Verizon Guy from the Time Warner commercials, etc). Drinks are reasonably prices (especially when you consider that you avoided the cover charge that is usually unavoidable at a comedy club).

Check Facebook for the schedule of one of the most popular Saturday night shows, ??If You Build It,? hosted by Rob O??Reilly (Comedy Central??s Live at Gotham).

I just recently had my birthday party at karma and had a fantastic time. The staff was extremely helpful, my friends had a great time, and the manager even came over to buy me and my friends a round of shots b/c it was my birthday. I can't wait to head back again and dance the night away with all of my friends.

I was a little dissapointed that they didn't serve any food, HOWEVER they did allow my friends to keep my birthday cake in a fridge until we were ready to eat it.

so all and all a GREAT place!

There are a raft of personal reason for my adoration of Karma, first date; leading to it to becoming the defacto meeting place for all my then smoking pals. - Good memories.

I haven't been in a while, but my brother-in-law remains a regular; he continues to enjoy the vibe lost to this city 4 some odd years ago when the folks in spandex on roller-blades decided us bums couldn't smoke in our little haunts downtown.

A hooka-bar in name only - This is one of NYCs last great dive-bars! (enjoy it while you still can)

I have been to this place at least 10 times in the past two years. The hookah was good. The past few times I went, it was getting progressively worse, and when you ask any of the "hookah girls" or "waitresses" to come help assist with the hookah or replace a coal, THEY ARE SO RUDE. They are extremely tacky and put their hands out and say they want a 20% tip if you tip less....despite their horrible service. When I refused the last time I went, the girl rolled her eyes and walked away. I went last nite, despite previous rude service (on 2 or 3 occasions with different employees) and it was HORRIBLE. I gave the hookah girl a tip for bringing over a $16 hookah...then when she came over to replace the coal (which is $3), she asked for a tip for that too!!!! HOW TACKY! Then the waitress comes over and says "the tip for the drinks is separate from the tip for the hookahs, so i need my tip" and then when my friends gave her a tip, she still included an additional $12 tip on the bill...THEN when she swiped my credit card, seh included an ADDITIONAL $15 tip!!!! So - there were THREE TIPS for one girl - she jsut thought she was going to get over on us. I check my bank statement today and see a charge for $16, $72, and $87!! I refuse to go to this place ever again. Its not worth it, it smells of cigarette smoke - and you will be guaranteed to smell like cigarette smoke too and the service was the absolute WORST.

ITS NOT WORTH IT. go do cafe khufu - the hookah bar around the corner on 3rd st.. or to one of the other hookah bars across the street. forget karma.

I went by Karma last night because my friend was at a birthday party there. I was literally going to say hello to my friend, tell the birthday girl "happy birthday" and leave. Well this wasn't acceptable to the huge bouncer to the downstairs area. He wouldn't even look at me as he blocked me and said "all coats must be checked". When I explained how I would literally be out of there in the time it took to check my coat he just ignored me. So when I saw my friend walking in the room I went to wave and call her name so she could just come out and say hey, the bouncer purposely stepped to block my gestures. I have never be treated with such mean-spiritedness in my 7 years in Manhattan, not even at places like Marquee. It's ironic that a place called Karma would have such disregard for its meaning...

Went to Karma last night with some friends visiting from Germany. I used to go to this place all the time in the late 90s early 2000s. It used to be one of my favorite bars because you can smoke cigs and hookah there. Anyway first off they made us all wait outside for like 10 minutes, when we finally got in half the bar was empty. They checked our IDs twice and put a stupid wrist band on you and your purse. Does my purse need to buy drinks?? They made my friend check his hoodie because they apparently have a dress code now. Hello, the place is a dive, not a chic club!!
We wanted to get a table, and some official looking guy with a headpiece told us its a 2 drink minimum for tables. Which was never the case before...we opted out because one of my friends wasnt really drinking. So we all had to stand at the bar.
OK, they charge 16$ for hookah which used to always be 10. I gave the waitress 2$ tip for bringing it over to us and she says "2$ is 10% , 4$ is 20%" meaning, give me more money. It was the most abnoxious thing ive ever seen. All she did was bring a hooka, she probably didnt even light it up herself. So i gave her the 4$ ..she never came back to change our coal which was kicked after about 45 minutes.
Now, the music..was horrible. Karma used to always play a mix of rock and 80s, some hip hop. Now its all top 40s garbage. Some songs were skipping, and were way too loud. The DJ was really clueless.
Overall its just not what it used to be (which applies to a lot of my favorite nyc places nowadays). They try to make it seem like its some high class joint, meanwhile its still a dive bar. No renovations of any kind have been made since i used to go there. The bathroom stalls still has the crappy french doors which barely close from like 10 years ago.
I would recommend this place to tourists and people who are looking for something a little "different" but a true new yorker would just find it pretentious and a pain in the you know what.

I have never once written a negative review on one of these things.
That being said, I wouldn't go back to this place if it was the eve of the apocalypse and it was the last bar in NYC. Out of principle.
They make you check your coat and charge you $1, which is stupid, but not a deal breaker. What is a deal breaker is that the coat check girl is horribly nasty about it. I wasn't wearing a jacket purposely so I wouldn't have to carry it, so you can imagine my confusion when she told me rudely to check my "jacket" (short sleeved, cropped, button up fuzzy thing...clearly not a jacket). We went back and forth, and even after I told her I was wearing a see through undershirt underneath because i hadn't been planning on taking it off, that it wasn't an effing jacket, again and again, she made me check it. In the nastiest way possible. Thank god it was dark downstairs so the whole bar couldn't see my nips. I would have left but I was meeting people.

So when we were leaving my friend Steve was given the wrong jacket. The coat check girl didn't believe him. He was totally calm (which I wouldn't have been) and explained again how it wasn't his jacket, there was a mistake, etc etc. She told him to leave. He said he wasn't leaving without his jacket. She called security. I'm not kidding. He explained to security what happened, the guy made her look again, and she found it. She didn't even apologize.
Both Steve and I spoke to the manager separately and he didn't seem to care. He sort of listened, gave generic consoling, and we left. It totally ruined our night.
Go there if you 1) want to get into a fight, because unless you are ghandi you will want to 2) like bars that resemble freshman year frat parties in basements 3) smoke cigarettes and don't like going outside to do it

Otherwise, buy a pack of cigarettes, sit at home and watch the hills, and ask someone to karate chop you in the neck. You'll get the same effect.

On 1/31/09, I celebrated my 33rd birthday at Karma with a couple of friends. This was my first time at a Hookah place and the manager Damien was terrific in making sure everything went off correct!! Karma is a very sexy lounge where you can just relax and chill and dance without all the drama that goes along with the "club" scene. I had a BLAST! Thanks again Karma for a wonderful birthday experience.

This place is really cool. Great music... nothing too G*ettO. They usually play a combo of hip-hop, rap and R&B. The staff there is really friendly too. It's mostly girls that work there and my friends couldn't stop drooling over them (especially the cocktail waitress and the coat check girl). They're signs all over the place about watching your bags and stuff but hey it's New York City... you should always watch your bag. They're also all pretty psycho about checking ID's. They had to log my friend's ID in a book because it was "unscanable". I asked the bartender about the ID thing and she said that since the police station is so close they get raided a lot and it's a huge fine for each person that isn't of age so they have to scan everyyyyy ID and keep a log book of the ones that don't scan... it's strict but at least if anything goes down they have a record of everyone that was there... makes sense. If you get there before 8pm drinks are half price and there is a special at the bar. If you buy 4 drinks (per person) you get the 5th one free! But wait!!! The coolest thing about this place --> you can get delivered food and eat it here! Ask them for their menu book! It consists of a book of all of the food spots in the area that deliver and the delivery man will bring the food right inside the lounge to you!!!! It's soooo New York! I had an awesome time and even talked to the manager about having my birthday party here!

No lines-->Good.
Of cause I was asked for Identification--> (great;, I feel alot safer, lol!)
One wrist band for my wrist, one for my hand bag???--> okkkaaaaay!!!

Now the part that made me write this review...kind of scarey!!!

The person at the door takes a picture of your Drivers Licence...HMMMM?????????? A Hooka Bar that wants all your identity on a snap shot.
Instead, I gave them a photo ID without ALL my information. Figure if they want all that info they can write down the color of my eyes and hair and call it a night! NOW, this puts me to think..........................ID THEFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

Whether its your initial destination or just a plan b Karma is a GREAT bet. The bouncers are very cool and never cause a problem or get on a power trip. All the bartenders are REALLY cool and pretty cute too. Upstairs is more of a bar/lounge and downstairs has dancing and more of a club vibe so theres something for everyone. But best of all you can still smoke in the place so theres no running outside into the cold to have a smoke.

Now I have to admit, I went here for lunch on a friday. The place was empty, except for staff. Since it as happy hour (1-8pm) I figured the hookah might be on special; it wasn't which is understandable. The price for the hookah was $16 (which is about average for NYC). The hookah was served in a short hookah but I knew right off the back things were not right. The hookah water became a dark rust color the more I used it. I asked the bartender if something was wrong with the hookah and she stated "it's probably turning colors from being in the sun". I was indoors for god sake! After a few minutes I asked her to dump the water and refill the bases. She removed the 'head' and applied it to a new hookah. I thought that was good gesture. The smoke was good and steady (Cherry & Vanilla mix) not very flavorful but consistent. As with any hookah heat is needed to maintain a smoke. I asked for a new charcoal (one piece is given with the hookah) which she replaced rather quickly. After 20 minutes, the smoke again started to fade; which I inturn stated that I may need another coal. She stated that the head usually only last 2 coals (who made this rule?). Ok I figured she knew best (even though other Hookah bars have replaced my coals until I was blue in the face) for the tobacco they supply. When I went to pay my bill, I was amazed that they charged me an EXTRA $4 FOR THAT ONE PIECE OF COAL. I couldn't believe it....what Bull$#it. I would never go there again.

Pros: Decor is interesting; music can be requested during slow times; Happy Hour Beer ($3)

Cons: Flavorless Hookah tobacco; Extra charge for coals; unclean hookah pipes;

If you decide to go...best of luck to you. But they will not be getting my hard earned dollars again.

Smoke on! I'm out!

Cons: Flavorless Hookah tobacco; Extra charge for coals; unclean hookah pipes;

If you decide to go...best of luck to you. But they will not be getting my hard earned dollars again.

Smoke on! I'm out!

Pros: $3 dollar beer (Happy Hour)

Cons: Read my review...good luck

i've been to karma a few times, and have enjoyed myself each time. it's definitely not the kind of place i'd expect to meet new people, but rather to start the night, smoke, and have a couple drinks. also the music is superb. they were playing a lot of the mid-late 90s/early 2000s rap. we started out there last night, the doorman and the bartenders/servers have always been nice, and it's reasonably-priced. the crowd does get gh*tto, but people don't bother each other. the first time i went there a group at a table in the back put we*d in their hookah, but the staff was quick to intervene. i've never been to the downstairs??, but the main area is kind of a dive (doesn't look like the picture), but if you don't mind that it's definitely worth going.

I HOSTED A FEW GOOD FREINDS THERE FOR MY 24TH BIRTHDAY. THE RESERVATIONS WERE EASY TO GET AND ONCE THERE THE MANAGERS, BOUNCERS, AND STAFF WERE SUPER FRIENDLY AND PLEASENT TO CONVERSE WITH. AS I WAITED FOR THE REST OF MY PARTY I WAS VERY WELL ATTENDED TO BY OUR SERVER. ONCE OUR PARTY WAS COMPLETE WE HAD A GREAT NIGHT OF DRINKS AND HOOKA SMOKING, THE MUSIC WAS GREAT THE ATMOSPHERE WAS AWSOME AND THE CROWD, ALTHOUGH NOT TO BIG ON THIS PARTICULAR NIGHT, ENJOYED PARTICIPATING WITH OUR PARTIES RANDOM DANCING AND SINGING. I WOULD NOT HESITATE TO RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE WHOS LOOKIN FOR A GREAT PLACE TO HOST A FEW FRIENDS OR JUST HAVE AN INTIMATE NIGHT FOR 2!

I hosted my sister's b'day party here on a friday night. We reserved the table for 12 and did not expect over 20 to show up. The bouncers are the sweetest, friendliest I have ever come across and they were very accomadating! Sam, the manager, is awesome! Everyone had a great time. Thank you Karma!!!

I hosted my boyfriend's birthday party at Karma. We had a fabulous time! Unlike other places in NYC, they did not have some crazy bottle service price. The prices are very reasonable ranging from $45 for a bottle of wine to $150 for a bottle of Bacardi and $16 for a hookah. And yes, smoking is allowed! I am a non-smoker, but most of my guests were. The music was good, although at times the mixing was a bit messy...But hey, after a couple of drinks, you don't even notice! The service was excellent. Staff was very friendly and the manager, Sam, is super accommodating. He even allowed me to bring in a birthday cake. I had about 40 guests attend they party and the next day they were all calling to tell us about what a great time they had.

I surprised the dudes at Karma by bring close to 80 people, and I must tell you that they were absolutely phenomenal at accomodating us all. The drinks came quick, the empty glasses were always whisked off and the manager was incredibly kind and comped us several rounds. If you go, try the mint/chocolate combination flavored hookah and make sure reserve because no one likes to have their friends wait in the cold. The DJ that spins on Saturdays is awesome and will have you dancing all night.

It was my first time hanging out at Karma...I couldn't belive you could still smoke INSIDE. It was such a good time..especially cause we didn't have to go out in the cold to smoke a cigarette. I recomend this bar to anyone who's sick of having to go outside to smoke when your drunk, cause that stinks.

Got very drunk here and couldn't find my jacket. I had it hanging on the back of the chair and then it was gone. I loved that jacket and I was oh so upset and I was literally in tears! The bartender called the manager who called the owner. The owner came and he sat down and consoled me and assured me he would find my jacket. He then took me to the office and sat with me and we reviewed the security video recordings. They have security cameras all over the place. On the camera we saw that it had fallen off the chair and somebody had kicked it over to the other side of the bar and then it was picked up and put on a couch. I ran back up and found it on the couch! I was soo happy to get it back. Thanks you soo much for caring.

So a friend reccomends this place and I decide to try it for my birthday get together. When I get there it seems like a really nice place and places like this have serious attitude but I don't get any. The bouncer is an older gentleman all smiles and courteous - reminded me more of a hotel concierge than a bouncer - and the bartenders are like sorority girls all chill and having fun and the waitress is jumping over chairs and dancing around. Then the owner comes over all polite and smiles and makes sure everything is okay and buys us a round of shots and then later in the night moves us to the VIP area - now thats service for ya! Anyway, I highly reccommend this place to anyone who wants to have a fun night drinking at a really nice club with no attitude.

Choose Karma agian for New Years Eve and of course had the best time, we all did. The place always has a great vibe, and especially on NYE! The DJ had me dancing all night long..I mean really, my feet hurt the next day from dancing till some crazy hour in the morning. We were there till the sun was about to come up..that's all I can really remeber...but I looked at my camera the next day and I knew we had a great time. Karma is the best place in the East Village for celebrating everything and anything!

I went here with a group for new years eve and I had the best time ever. The cover was only 10 bucks and the place was packed! The DJ absolutely rocked - he had us going from the moment we got there. The place was totally decked out in new years stuff with hats and balloons and confetti and all. The bartenders and staff were all really cool and were dancing (on the bar) and drinking with us and they let us stay till 7 in the morning! Someone threw up on our couch - hey that happens but it got cleaned quick. One dude started a fight over a girl and the bouncers jumped on him right away and threw him out. We watched the ball drop on a widescreen tv and danced all night and then we had pizza delivered at 4 am to keep us going. I love karma and I LOVE the staff there all of them.

... I went up on stage and performed for the first time in my life! They have karaoke set up so you can sing a song with karaoke on open mic nites (Tuesdays). Took a few drinks to get the courage up to face the hecklers but when I performed everyone loved it. The people are very hip and chill and the drinks were cheap ($1 pabst and shots). I'm going back every tuesday and I want everyone to come.

Stay far away from this place...
We've given this place a couple of chances after some horrible treatment, and a general don't care attitude.

The last time we went, they wanted to charge us for a new Hookah after our charcol went out instead of bringing us a new piece like all other Hookah places. When we asked them why they do this, they said "If you don't like it, go somewhere else." I'm taking their advice and doing just that.

I had a birthday party here for 20 people and we had the absolute best time. The place was not at all crowded. We had the whole basement to ourselves and our own bartender who took very good care of us. The music started off melow and ended the night pumping. The manager and staff were very polite and attentive and I usually don't bother writing a review but I felt this place deserved one.

I don't know why this bar has such a bad rap, this is the funnest spot in the East Village. The bouncers are different from the one that use to be there a couple months ago, if there was a problem with that, but I never knew of anyone who had a problem and I've been going there since 2002. Prices are awesome, Hookahs are the cheapest around, music kicks a*s, and the crowd is cool and real. Best neighborhood bar meets trendy travelers, it's a perfect mash. It's a must stop on the weekends when it's girls night out and best to chill and smoke a hookah any day of the week. This place is so cool you can still smoke cigarettes there! Don't listen to the negative reviews from people who obviously had such a good time they don't remeber what happened that night...if you know what I mean.

Occaisionaly came through the page of this place where I happen to stop by like a month ago. Almost everything felt fine for my drunken head right up till the moment i had to use their bathroom. It was something like "hotboxing'" if "ya know" what I mean. Piece of Amsterdam, however, didn't coordinate with the level of my alchololic intoxication - no, but that p(_)ke on the toilet just made it final :( --> NO THANK YOU!!!

I agree with the member below. I went there once and I will never go back again. The indian guy with the glasses sexually harassed me and when I tried to tell him to stop he threw me out. I was treated very rudly by the staff and the drinks were watered down. Not to mention expensive. I have had it with this place. The bouncers are rude and full of themselves, especially the one with the braids. I dont know what his problem is but he told me my id was not good enough so I gave him my passport too and he finally let me in after standing in the cold for more than 15 minutes. I strongly recomend another bar.

This is the worst bar to go to in all of New York. The bouncers are the biggest losers they will throw you out for anything. The staff is very rude asking to tip them and being in general very mean with here is your drink now get out of my face attitude. The manager tall indian guy with glasses is very sexually and verbally abusive to his staff. The drinks are expensive for a dive like this and the last time I went I had a fly in my drink and the waitress would not replace it with a new one. Also the last time I went my friends purse was stolen and when she told the management they did nothing. Please skip this bar and go to the next and if you do venture in please be aware of all the evil Karma that lurks around.

I've visited Karma a few times and enjoyed it greatly. My last visit however, was memorable in a negative way. A girl punched my friend, uninstigated, and instead of kicking her out, the bouncer (tall, big, black with cornrows) threw me and all of my friends up against a brick wall. He trampled our feet, we lost our shoes, he gripped our arms and slammed us into the wall and pinned us there as if we were the offenders. He wouldnt let us go get our things, and then he kicked us out. A few of us were hurt pretty bad. All of us were bruised and hurting. We called the cops but they did nothing, and the bouncer stood there and laughed at us. The manager was passive and said he would fire the bouncer but wouldnt tell us, and didnt even know, the bouncer's name.
It was unacceptable for this employee to act in this way, and his behavior and the passiveness of the manager, were unkind and unprofessional. This type of behavior promotes violence against women. I'm no feminist, but steer clear of that bar if you want to go home unscathed.

my experience at karma lounge was fantastic! the DJ's were great, service friendly and fast, drinks delicious, hookah flavors plentiful, bouncers- cordial, over all a great time. i just moved to the city and am planning to make karma my regular place to hang out. i am going to bring all my friends there. oh, did i mention you can still smoke there? wow, what a treat!

Karma used to be a fun place, but it has experienced a tragic decline. Sometime a few months ago, the owners hired a new crew of shockingly abusive and even racially segregationist, bouncers. Many customers have reported the same problem. If you are a white male, do not enter the basement dance area. You will be cornered by the bouncers, who will politely suggest that you look like someone who might have more fun in another bar. If you do not leave, they will concoct some execuse--say, that they saw you in the bathroom and your nose is "white"--and then they will physically haul you out, punching you on the ribs on the way to the door. Sitting in the upstairs bar, I watched three guys taken out this way. Finally, I was curious and went outside to ask what had happened. When I heard the story, I didn't believe it. Then, I tried the downstairs bar and the same thing happened to me!!

A very, very dangerous bar now. Which would be fine, if it were any fun. But it's not anymore.
Once friendly staff have been replaced by people with very awful attitudes, and once enjoyable crowd has been replaced by high school kids posing as ganstas. Pathetic. Stay away at all costs.

This place must be struggling lately, because they go through alot of effort to make the place look really happenin at the expense of their patrons. I arrived fairly early, around 10 or so, and there was a line down the sidewalk. Your typical ego-driven bouncers where there to act tough and bark orders at people who werent doing anything wrong. I waited with a few friends in line for a good 20 minutes or so, and the line did not move one bit. We were told people would be let in when more people came out. Luckily, there were 3 girls in the group. Another bouncer came out and let us cut ahead of everyone in line most likely because of this. Upon finally getting in the door, I found that THE PLACE WAS EMPTY! I mean maybe 5 or 6 people inside, but it was completely dead. If the club isnt doing well, they should do something to make the whole experience more enjoyable instead of trying to create some fake hype. They are only holding up their own business by making the people who want to get in and spend money on drinks wait in line for nothing. The fake line, coupled with the DJ's inability to play anything other than Sean Paul made the experience rather uneventful and overall annoying. This place has some work to do!

I used to go to Karma a few back when my friends and i drank so much that we could have fun anywhere. its kinda got the sweaty, "you will get groped by fratboys and wannabe gangsters" vibe. needless to say, we got sick of it fast. the hookahs may be cheap but with the small range of tobacco and disgusting cigarette smoke filling the air, its just not worth it. Its too loud to hear yourself think, and the space isn't laid out well. Doesn't compare to other hookah bars in the LES/ East Village area, even if they are a bit more pricey. Karma needs some nicely lit alcoves, class, culture and variety!!

I had a birthday here a little while back.... Abot 35 people showed up.. which = lots of $ for the place..... everyone was relaxed and talking the night away... so you would think the
service would be better.. no!!! It's definitely not a good place to take a crowd.. the workers there want to just give you a drink and a hookah.. and hope you go home so they don't have to deal with you again... If this place had more competition it would probably go out of business.... The appeal is the smokes... and if you go before Friday.. there is no food and no downstairs open.... The place looks great.. but it amazes me how many places survive these days which such horrible and rude service.....

That's right this hookah lounge, located in the east village, allows you to smoke, chill and drink, in a relaxed setting. It's best to bring a group or go on a date, as there really isn't a singles scene here. But if you're in the east village, you have to go.

Karma Lounge is one of the few places left in the city where you can smoke indoors. Most of the smoke conists of flavored tobacco coming from the hookas, which customers can rent in several different flavors. The bar has top shelf liquor, at decent enough prices, and several beers on tap. Downstairs, the lounge area is full of soft couches and cushions to sit on, designed to remind the patron of a lush bar in the middle east. A good place to start or end the evening, but not necessarily to spend the entire night.

I've been going to Karma since back in 2001 when I was in the Marines on leave. Now that I'm out, I go there at least once every other week. I love the DJ downstairs, as he plays the best underground hip hop which I love. If you love good music, $6 Guinness on tap, and smoking the hookah, then Karma is your spot.
