4 Stars: Great steak, prices a bit high (by gdawnc)

The decor is lovely, & the service is quite professional
& friendly. I've been there 4 times & have always been very happy with whatever I ordered. The prices are high for this area, and all side dishes must be ordered separately. But for a great steak dinner as an occasional treat, it's wonderful.

5 Stars: Best Steak Ever (by jleiper)

My son took us to Austin's last summer. We had my 88 year old mother with us. The service was great. They treated my mother like a queen. Even cut her meat for her. What a treat it was. The steaks were the best ever tasted. Can't wait to return again. Looking forward to bringing friends and family.

4 Stars: Mellow, Adult, Atmosphere...Fantastic Food (by eddielane)

My first time at Austin's was an accident. I was looking for a different local steakhouse. I decided to go in. From the outside it doesn't look like much. Once inside I was surprised. The mellow adult atmosphere was wonderful. Sinatra/Billy Holiday music filled the space. A small but upscale bar. Very nice. The bartender could not make a bad drink. The booths were very comfortable. The service was almost too attentive. I ordered the "cowboy steak", odd name for the atmosphere, medium. It was perfect. My guest ordered the shrimp cocktail. She loved it. My only objection were the sides which were charged separately. The steak, for Brooklyn was pricey enough. Should have came with a choice of sides. I had the brownie for dessert. It was a little too rich for my taste. FYI, the men's room was super clean. I think that says a lot too. I went back a few days later and sat at the bar for a drink. The bartender (John) was wonderful and friendly and adult. Again every drink was perfect. Summary...well worth it.

4 Stars: WOW WOW WOW (by Debra J.)

If you like Jucy tender staek, seasoned to perfection you really need to go to Austin's Steak House in Brooklyn NY. Did I mention the vibe is mello so you vould actually sit back enjoy your food and relax a bit before you attempt to get up. You know that feel ing that you get when you are eating somethin so good you just cant get enough. Then there is thet feeling that you get when you have eatten too much and cant move. But lucky enough for me the vibe of this place was so relaxin and mello I felt comfortable.
A must go!

3 Stars: Pretty good steak, terrible sides, (by Ravefold)

Wait staff: Excellent -- attentive and polite.

Steak: We ordered the porterhouse for two and felt that there was not enough portion for the price paid.
The filet side was undercooked but very tender. The sirloin side was slightly overcooked (we ordered medium rare) and a bit chewy. The steak wasn't dry and tasted "pretty good", slightly underseasoned and disappointingly was not served with the drippings to dredge our forks through, which is common to Ruths Chris and Peter Luger like faire.

Sides: Terrible. We ordered mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. The mashed potatoes tasted like instant spuds which is a terrible contrast next to an 82 dollar steak. The creamed spinach tasted OK, but had a bit of a "soapy" like taste.

Ambiance: Nicely decorated but the plasma screen faux aquarium screen saver was a bit cheesy. A real aquarium would have provided for better atmosphere. The lighting did not provide a cozy feel.

Overall: Pretty good, a bit pricey for the experience. For the same price, we would probably try somewhere else next time.

Falls short in comparison to Ruth Chris or Wolfgang's or Lugers.

D&J ? Brooklyn, NY

3 Stars: So-so dining experience for the price (by neo2099)

Recently visited Austin's. As a steak lover, I've chewed the bone at most of the city's finest steakeries. My experience with Austin's left me wanting. While the waitstaff were nice and accurate, they seemed mostly unconcerned and disorganized. Our order was correct, but that's because our order (and our drink orders) were taken twice, but two by two different servers. It often seemed like every interaction with one server was followed by the same action of another (as if they hadn't told each other who was covering the table). One of our servers, although nice enough, looked around the room as he leaned on the side of the booth as we asked questions and placed our order. Nothing that couldn't be forgiven, if the food delivered.

While the steaks looked great (we had the fillet and the NY Strip) upon arrival, they were surprisingly flavorless. My date and I passed the salt back and forth with each slice, surprised that so much grease could be pooling in the plate while doing so little for the flavor-level of the meat. All in all, it wasn't by any means a bad experience, but when I spend $150 for steak dinner for two, I generally like to leave the restaurant without the feeling that I should have gone to Outback instead.

2 Stars: A Bad Day (by mfast1)

I went to Austin's on my 57th birthday after a long day. I was supposed to celebrate my birthday with family on staten Island, but because of a tragic accident on the Verrazano Bridge It was impossible to get into Staten Island in time to meet my family. So in a year that includeid personal tragities like loseing my father, me being treated for prostate cancer, I looked forwrd to salvaging my b;day at Austins. I specified to my waiter how I wanted my steak cooked, I was not as I asked, This was a very dissapointing end to a disappointing day. I was offered free coffee and dessert, which was a gracious offer but hardly consolation to a dissapointing dining experience.

4 Stars: Delivery suspiciously listed (by robbbrooklyn)

Placing a phone call before spending (how much?) time poring over the menu would have saved the host from answering your otherwise insistent phone call. The service here generally is excellent, efficient, and POLITE.

1 Stars: Rude and False Advertising! (by kambros81)

If you want a review on the food, look somewhere else, we didn't even get that far. My husband and I couldn't make it out (hello 7 year old) but wanted to try this "great" steakhouse. Imagine our excitement at seeing that on their website, under their "Prime Time in the Daytime" Three Course Lunch Menu they say We Deliver! and then list their phone #....so we spend 10 minutes picking out an appetizer, salad, steak, the sole and two sides, and make a phone call requesting delivery. The man who answers says "We don't delivery." What? Wait a minute, your website says you do. "We don't deliver." he repeats w/out responding to the bogus website advertising that says the opposite, then hangs up on us! Needless to say, we will not be paying a visit to Austin's, thanks to the rudeness of inept phone guy and their false advertising online!

5 Stars: one of my best lunch! (by nycbuddy)

i heard a lot of good thing about this steakhouse, & i dont have much time to visit there at nite, so i dropped by today during lunch time. it's really quiet today, but probably because of the long weekend. i have ordered the pris fix (did i spend it rite? lol. cant spend lately), although it cost about $20, but it was a very nice lunch i have had. their crab cake is good & same as the steak sandwich, one other thing i need to mention, service was excellent, the server - henry was doing a great job. this is my 1st time been to austin, but i have already like it a lot.

5 Stars: Amazing food, wine, and service (by nyclife)

Austin's is truly my favorite steak restaurant. The setting is very romantic and elegant. Everyone must try the lobster bisque, coconut shrimp, special salads, and of course the steak. The best steak I have ever ate--it was tender, tasty and fresh. The wine is also very good. PLUS the service is excellent. There are a number of people that tend to your table so fresh bread and drinks are always brought to your table, dirty dishes are prompty removed from the table, and the manager always walks by to see how your dinner is going. Now, my friends are hooked. Great place for a wonderful dinner!! I usually go once a month!

4 Stars: Good eats (by britrane)

First time there - had an excellent experience. The food was amazing all around. Excellent wine. Service got off to a somewhat rocky start but it all turned out great - food cooked perfectly, no issues whatsoever. Valet parking is great too. I think the decor is just ok for a steak house of that quality, so that'd be my only small comment.

4 Stars: Above average (by vlad3225)

I totally disagree with Raechka. I did not think that the meat was as tender as a piece of shoe. I was really impressed with the service of the staff and the freshness of everything on the menu. I have to say that their Crab cakes were amazing and the filet mignon was above average.

1 Stars: WHAT A CROCK!!!! (by raechka)

After reading the wonderful reviews on the site about Austin's, my cousin and I took our moms there for Mother'sDay. We ordered 2tomato & onion salads. The salad plate had on it 4thickly sliced tomatoes-in between lay a thickly sliced onion-not a salad, but cut tomatoes and cut onions, they were good though. When our steaks arrived, my cousin tried hers & said it tastes like shoe, she couldn't eat it. My steak was okay, I soaked it in steak sauce & ate it. My mom and & aunt ate theirs just because they didn't want to throw away a 30 dollar steak. The bill for 4 steaks (no sides), 2 sodas and 2 salads came to $200. I have no idea who wrote these glorious reviews for this place, but we were extremely disappointed. I don't mind paying for good food, but this was disgusting & a rip off.

5 Stars: Another great meal (by taryn1)

After an amazing dinner at Austins steakhouse I felt compelled to write this review and share my wonderful experience. Upon arrival the first thing I noticed was the incredible ambiance the space. Austins has managed to maintain a steakhouse feel while conveying softer bistro undertones. We started with the Austins chopped salad, which was both beautiful and delicious, and the fried calamari which was everthing it should have been (fresh, crisp and delicious). Our steaks were thick, juicy and cooked to perfection, and Cosmo, Austins knowledgeable proprietor was able to make a fabulous wine suggestion. We had a fabulous meal which we wrapped up at the bar sipping Austins signature red apple martini (delish!) and enjoying the live music which I am told plays every Saturday night. I am a huge fan of this resturant on every level and would encourage any and all to experience it for themsalves!

5 Stars: Amazing Food, Beautiful Restaurant (by chrishughes618)

I recently went for a dinner with ten family members, and I cannot begin to say how much we all enjoyed our experience at Austin's. We were seated promptly by the very accomodating staff. The appetizers and cocktails were all amazing. The steak was something different then anything I had tasted before, and the side dishes (creamed spinach, mac and cheese) were out of this world. After stuffing our faces on appetizers and the main course, I didn't have room for dessert....that is until I saw the dessert menu!!! I highly recommend Austin's Steakhouse for anybody looking to go out and have the best steak in Brooklyn!

4 Stars: Austin's Okay (by mickieeats)

Had our babies first bday party here for about 20 people. While the service was great setting up before hand, I didn't feel they when out of the way the day of the dinner. We arrived about 4:30ish (as recommended by management), the table in the center of room was fine for 12 people, the others sat in the overhang. Very hot in that area in the summer time. Before hand, the staff said that the sides were enough for 2 people. Everyone in the party didn't agree. They could have been bigger. Main meal was nice and everyone seemed to enjoy them. Staff would not change a meal to accomadidate food allegeries. I would go back for a nice dinner with my husband, but not with a bigger group. Felt very rushed as the dinner crowd was coming in

My boyfriend and I go to Austin's now on a regular basis ever since we stumbled upon it a year ago. The steaks are perfection, as are the sides!
5 Stars: Austin's Brooklyn NY (by lenorasatin)

This is a fabulous restaurant. The food was superior. They were not trying to copy any other steak house in NY. Their creamed spinach, mac and cheese and of course their steak was absolutely wonderful. What impressed me most (besides the food) was the service. They were there for our every need. We were a party of eight and we wanted for nothing. Don't be discouraged by the price. It is worth every penny. Go there for a romantic dinner for two or a family gathering. And there is even live music. Thank you for a memorable dinner. L. Satin
