I really like this store. The clothes are a little expensive, but not ridiculously overpriced like Abercrombie, Hollister, etc. But they are very good quality and last a long time. As for the employees, it depends- I've seen some that aren't very friendly, but others that are. So overall, I think this is a great store!

I have been shopping at American Eagle for almost 10 years, and I've always been very happy and satisfied with the helpful employees of the store. However, I just had to send this review because of the experience my boyfriend and I just had from visiting the AE store in NYC on 34th St and 5th Ave (approximate location). I was browsing the jeans upstairs and flipped through a stack of jeans looking for a 4 Regular. I hardly disturbed the nicely stacked pile of jeans. All of the sudden an employee ran over to me asking if I needed help finding a size. I said I was looking for a 4 regular, and she curtly replied, "None of these jeans come in regular," acting like I was a total buffoon. I pointed to a pair of 2 Regulars and said, "Don't all of these jeans come in short, regular, or long?" I was in a corner section of the store that had stacks and stacks of jeans and they ALL came in either short, regular, or long. I don't know how the heck this employee would have the audacity to tell me that none of their jeans come in Regular. She then said she was sorry and began leafing through the stack of jeans I already looked through. I told her that I looked already. Then she said she couldn't help me get a 4 R because she didn't have a headset and then pointed to some woman I couldn't even see and said that she could help me. She didn't even try to tell the other person that I was looking for something. So I just brushed it off and thought this was an isolated incident. Little did I know that my boyfriend was going through the same thing on the lower floor with a male employee.

My boyfriend was looking at the polo shirts which were stacked on a table. He needed an XS which was easy to find since those were on the top of the pile. However, the XS on the top did not have a price tag. As he was lifting off the top shirt to get at the second XS, a male employee asked if he needed help finding a size. My boyfriend said no thanks since he was ready to grab the XS that was just under the top shirt. He was not disturbing the pile of shirts or making a mess. Just as my boyfriend was going to take the shirt, the employee yelled, "NO!" and ran over to the shirts, nearly pushing my boyfriend out of the way. The employee and began looking through the shirts and asked what size he wanted. My boyfriend was a little spooked and put off, so he said nevermind and walked away. He waited until the guy left the area, and then went over and got his XS without knocking over any shirts and left the pile looking fine. Just as my boyfriend went to leave, the employee came BACK and stood in front of him. My boyfriend said, "Um is it OK if I take this XS?" The employee was very combative and said, "Not to be rude, but you have no idea how stressful this job is." My boyfriend just said Whatever and walked past the guy to stand in line and pay.

Well, not to be rude, but do we really care if they're unhappy with their jobs? Since when were we not allowed to look through the clothing ourselves without being harassed and threatened? Granted, clothes are going to be messed up after a few hours, but that goes for any store. EVERYONE in that store was acting very respectful and was not disturbing the clothes.

I love the jeans at American Eagle Outfitters. They are the softes jeans I've ever encountered and they fit great. I've bought three pairs and have nothing but great things to say about them. The sales staff was helpful the first time I went the next two I didn't need any help but there was no line and everything went smoothly.
