Madison's offers upscale dining in a local neighborhood. They have very nice steaks and good desserts. They also have an efficient staff.

I went there Saturday with my husband and sister and the service was surprisingly terrible. It was getting late but we called ahead and were told the kitchen was open until 10:30, we got there around 9:45. We were seated quickly and sat there for 15 minutes before we were acknowledged by our un-friendly waitress. I asked for the wine menu, she dropped it on the table and dissappeared for another 10 minutes. She finally shows back up and my husband asks her "what's on tap?" she says "nothing" and doesn't even offer to tell him what they have in bottle. She takes our drink and appetizer order, and as we're deciding if we should order dinner right away or wait a few minutes, she literally looks at her watch and gestures, rudely, that we need to order. Our drinks showed up around 2 minutes before our appetizers, and I could see her through the curtain just mulling around the waitress station, not doing anything!

She never once came over to us to find out if everything was ok, I had to signal her down to get a second drink after I had been sitting there with an empty glass for over 5 minutes. She served my duck dinner without a knife and when I asked her for one it took her so long to come back, I had to start eating it with a butter knife before it would start getting cold! Once again she never came over to see if our dinner was alright- she was just gone. After the dishes had been cleared, we sat there waiting for her to come back over so we could order dessert and coffee, she finally came over and coldly took the rest of our order.

For a restaurant that is Zagat rated, they really need to improve on this one thing. I actually heard the couple behind us complaining about their waitress as well. The restaurant is nice and the food is great, but if we go back we'll be sure to stay out of her section. She's an older woman who is clearly angry about being a waitress and having to work past 11.

Been going to Madisons for 3 to 4 Years and have not had a thing negative to say about this Restaurant. From the minute you walk in till you leave myself and my Wife are treated excellently. The Food and Drinks espescially the Absolute Gimlets are great. The entrees whether its Fish Beef or Pasta dishes are all great. If your in the area it's a must stop. Very courteous staff at all time hard to find in many Restaurants.

Riverdale finally gets a grown-up restaurant! I can't count the times I;ve been here and it just gets better everytime. The bartenders are friendly and actually know how to make a propoer Cosmo not to mention a killer Green Apple Martini. Pay close attention to the nightly specials - there are some gems - one of my favorite dishes is the softshell crabs fried in a light-as-air egg batter and served simply in a lemon, butter, white wine sauce. Wine list is better than most for the neighborhoos with a great priced Moet. Def. worth not just one visit but many!
