The Scene
Decorated with an astonishing number of white and green mini-Christmas tree lights and genuine Irish doors, Paddy McGuire's is a theme park for Irish drinking. While primarily a neighborhood pub, Paddy's attracts large numbers of students and fans of Emerald Isle kitsch.

The Draw
The staff hail from all over England, Ireland and Hell's Kitchen. Pints are imperial (20 ounces), the TVs above the bar are always turned to a sports program. There's also a pool table and darts. As with any Irish bar worth its green poster-board shamrock cutouts, Paddy's has Guinness on tap, but it rounds out the selection with 15 beers from places as exotic as the Czech Republic and Golden, Colorado.

Key Points

  • Pool & dart leagues
  • Largest pint of Guinness
  • 16 beers on tap

The Inside Scoop

  1. Know Before You Go - Don't fret if you don't have enough cash to pay the tab, there's an ATM next door.

Hobbit bar

by Melissa W. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 3,048

This tiny bar on 3rd Ave. in Manhattan has affectionately been dubbed the "hobbit bar" by a bunch of my friends for it's low ceilings and "early Middle-earth" decor. But that's not to say we don't love it. The bar has a cozy atmosphere; a great, friendly wait staff; a great selection of beers; and a great jukebox. You can also play pool and darts there! Check it out!

Texas friendly

Paddy's isn't fancy, but a great place to hang with friends! The place is friendly and down to earth. Shawn and Phil are awesome bartenders and always have something to say. Met a great guy from Kentucky and kick myself for not forwarding my #s to him. The people that frequent the place are true to the core. That is great to find in NYC. I always have a great time at Paddy's.

Pros: Bartenders, Pool Tables

i love this place. the music leaves something to be desired, but my buddies and i frequent this place after work. 2 decent pool tables, golden tee, and all the bud my heart desires. bartenders are friendly, and understand the phrase "buy-back". highly recommend it.

Cozy little joint...

by ruck1977

Nice music, nice atmosphere...very relaxing. About 12 different beers on tap, but we paid $12 bucks for a Sam Adams Draft and a Raspberry Stoli' and Sprite...you be the judge.

Nice place to sit and talk, as well as have a good time.

Pros: Small, music

Cons: expensive
