WE always take our Kindergartners here for a field trip in October. It is a great experience for the children and the guides are very knowledgeable. The nature walk is fun and the fish are awesome.

If you want a fabulous day trip go to Matterhorn Nursery. This is acres of beautifully landscaped plants, trees, shrubs all identified with markers. It is indescribable, almost. You ca meander throught the paths, over the covered bridge to see the fish and wildlife, across the driveway to a huge lakelike pond with geese you can feed.
They offer on site areas for seminars, special events and spsecial photo sohots.
Wlak across the bridge and stop and admire the miniature train scene going thru labelled dwarf plants . Its an entire tiny village.
From there go to the gift shop, it smells fabulous and holds unbelievable little treasures pertaning both to garden and general gifts. They have a plant pharmacy. Pottery, unusual conifers, exotic ornamentals, David Austin Roses.
There is a nice coffee shop with goodies you can stop in before walking thru the small Koi area. The Koi are huge(think puppy) you can feed them-watch for turtles. There is also a large area of Koi that are for sale.
After that there are endless "houses" with indoor/outdoor furniture, pottery, birdhouses, and other treasures, each in separate houses designated for the different items.. There is a Koi house, a library of plant information and a large garden equipment area. You'll be impressed by the fields of trees and shrubs available for purchase. They also do provide landscape design and installation.
At times they have a petting zoo so between that, refreshments, feeding koi and geese there is plenty to entertain children.
Its an amazing place.
PROS: Endless variety of items and plants
CONS: None
