I went with Alure mostly due to reputation and a recommendation. We were very pleased with the attitude of the sales person as we were assured that our job would be done in a timely manner using only the best materials and workmanship. We were willing to pay more than any other estimate to get the job done quickly and properly. What a fool I was!!

Immediately after signing the contract things started going badly. A portico over our door that we were actually paying over $1600.00 for was described by the project manager as flat roof with two pieces of wood holding it up. When I asked for a better description I was told, "not to worry we'll make it look nice". A few days later I found a website that had decorative roof supports and sent the link to my sales rep. He acknowledged they had dealt with this company before but when I asked which supports I could choose from, I never received a response. I took the portico out of the job description as I was sure my wife and I would not be content with the job they would have done.

At least three weeks went by after signing the contract and giving the deposit and I never heard a word form Alure as to when they might begin the job. I shot off an email to both the sales rep and the project manager, waited about 36 hours and never received a response. I sent another email asking, "What does it take to get a response from you guys". Within minutes the response I got from the project manager was, "Have your doors arrived". I thought his was strange as they were the ones who were ordering the doors. This time I called to see what the delay was and I was informed that due to a paperwork snafu nobody was ever scheduled to measure for my doors so the doors were never ordered. If I hadn't called, who knows how long it would have taken the project manager to discover this. Of course, the soonest they could get someone out to measure for my doors was now 10 days away as they told me there is only one man who does this and he only does this on Saturday. So much for the "resources" we kept hearing about.

So the doors were ordered and it was supposed to take three weeks for them to be in stock. Alure was willing to start the roof while waiting for the rest of the materials to arrive. I was unwilling as the main reason we went with a large resourceful company was so that our job would be done well and finished in a timely manner. The next email I received from my project manager was to inform me that as one of my doors that had integrated blinds was going to take five weeks to manufacture.

Due to weather a condition, the project was delayed a bit more but they did eventually get started. The bright part of the whole experience was the workers who despite the horrible heat and humidity, worked non-stop. The disappointing part was when I soon discovered that the "experts" they employed in each phase of construction were actually the same eight guys who did the demolition, installed the siding, the doors, and repaired the sheetrock and all other phases of the job. Not to say they did it poorly but they definitely were struggling to get certain things done.
Things seem to be going pretty smoothly until the local building inspectors dropped by to inquire about a permit for the 30 yard dumpster sitting in front of my house. You got it, no permit was filed. Seems that Alure thought the dumpster was going to be put in my driveway and never bothered to get the permit for the dumpster being put on the street. I spoke with the project manager and offered to go to the building department to file for the permit. He said, "I don't want to inconvenience you. I call you back and let you know". I'm still waiting for the call. I'll be checking with the building department to see if I should be expecting a fine in the mail. The next dumpster was placed in my driveway.

The job progressed well over the next few days until the next delay that my project manager blamed on a "family emergency" for the site manager. Of course it wasn't until after 9:30 that morning the he bothered to call me and inform about this delay. Strange thing is that I noticed the day before that the crew was taking more equipment home them than they had any other day and I commented to my wife that I didn't think they would be returning the next day. I guess my feeling was right.

With more foul weather due to arrive, I'm expecting more delays but perhaps I'll be surprised. At this point, I just want his project to be completed and for Alure to be out of my life.

BEWARE!! THEY ARE NOT WHAT THYE CLAIM TO BE!!

I just did the entire exterior of my house and boy do i regret not listening to people who have used them before. (Im talking real people, not these fake reviews that alure puts up). Everyone said not to use them but i figured if they were so well known they must be doing something right. Everything about them is a joke. Their design services are a complete scam. They push these digital renditions and when your house looks nothing like them they say its your fault because you shouldnt pay any attention to the digital renditions! The communication is terrible, their sub-contractors are morons, the two week project ended up taking almost three months, and they had to redo a number of things like the windows because their workmanship was horrendous. Overall, their attitudes were terrible once the contracts are signed. The project manager fought constantly with my wife and the whole experience was just very upsetting. The entire experience was just very upsetting and disappointing. We tell everyone about this experience and we've found out that many people share the same stories about them. I regret ever going with them. Dont make my mistake and think that my experience was unusual. Ignore these reviews and ask real people because i have yet to find one person who had a positive experience with alure.

I was really hoping their reputation due to their Extreme Home Makeover participation would mean they would be great. Although I can say that during the work they did (siding, windows, doors, and some other mostly outside things), they tried to quickly solve problems, the rest of the experience was terrible. The workmen barely spoke English, if at all. There were SO MANY problems that I needed to bring to their attention. Not all were fixed properly. Worst of all, after the job was completed, once I expressed my dissatisfaction at their unprofessionalism with a low rating to their own phone survey, they were rude! Almost a year later, I still am missing one of the bathroom window screens and some of the siding that uplifted has not been repaired - after several phone calls and e-mails!

First let me say I'm a big advocate of customer service. I deal with it and give it everyday and I've been known to stop going to wonderful restaurants and shops just because a waiter or salesperson has been less than attentive. When we decided to give our 20 yr. old kitchen a soup to nuts makeover, we decided on Alure. From day one and throughout our project, Roman, our designer, spent time and gave advice and suggestions. He got to know my husband and I and only suggested things that would suit our needs, not what was easy and most expensive. In fact he pointed out specials that, being on a budget were greatly appreciated. Then we met our our project manager, Jay. Jay made things easy for us. I never had to worry about when someone was coming or how to coordinate projects, Jay did it all! I would get home from work each day and Voila! what was suppose to be done, was, and everything was clean! My kitchen is a work of art, I adore it. My only complaint is now I'm spoiled, I expect this kind of work from everyone!

If you choose Alure, insist on Jim Galizia as your designer and Kaz and his crew to do the job. Although I am reluctant to offer a five star review of a company, I can give an honest critique of specific individuals. I have done 2 bathroom renovations through Alure Home Improvement. The first was a large, luxurious bathroom with all the bells and whistles, the second, a small, tight space. In both cases I was told by many that my ideas were unworkable and impossible to implement. In both I wanted wall mounted faucets, a walk in shower with no door or glass panel. In the large bath I have heated drying racks, a flat screen and jetted tub. The point I am making is that Jim has vision, as well as the desire to do what you want, not simply what is easier. His plan was detailed, and he thinks of things that might not occur to the homeowner, ie: if a door should open right or left, appropriate placement of outlets, switches, etc. Kaz lays tile like no one else and has the mathematical ability to figure the right shower floor slope for proper water drainage. Make sure he does all the plumbing, He is a personable perfectionist. Don't expect the lowest price from Alure, but you will be rewarded with quality from start (Jim) to finish (Kaz), and follow up for years to recaulk, reseal or replace as needed, no questions asked through Kathy Biggers. I am a happy repeat customer!

We have been using Alure for 30 years. We trust them completely because they have always gone above and beyond our highest expectations. They stand by their work. If we have a job to do that is complicated or scary, like having the roof ripped off before a re-shingling job, we will not have anyone else do the work because we feel absolutely safe that the job will be done correctly, promptly, and beautifully. They recently demolished our garage, and built a new one with a stunning attached patio. It turned out better than our wildest dreams and we are so proud of how it looks.

I was very pleased with Alure's 5 day bathroom makeover. They showed up on time and were very professional. I never once heard the dreaded words, " We've got a little problem here." The quality of the work was exceptional. The work crew was efficient, hard-working, and very neat. I would recommend Alure to anyone thinking of gutting their bathroom.

I was a client for Allure Home Improvements - 5 day bathroom project and I most happy to report that I am extremely happy with the results and construction process. Although the project did run longer that expected (Not at the fault of Allure but permit delays in town), my crew took care of my home as if their own. Alec and Son were flexible as to my schedule and cleanup was impeccable. My expectations were exceeded and the outcome was better than the initial impressions of the design. Thank you Allure!

We had Alure do a 5 day Bathroom Makeover and could not have been happier with the results. The sales representative that came to our home was great. He was informative and so helpful with choosing colors and options. Our project manager, Emilio, was amazing. He was always available if we had any questions and stopped in to check on the progress regularly. Fred and Elizabeth, our crew were wonderful. The quality of their work is beyond what we expected. They put so much pride into their work and it really shows. Our 5 day bathroom was done in 4 because of their hard work and long hours. We are still amazed every time we walk into our new bathroom. We could not have asked for anything more. We would recommend Alure to anyone. We will definetly be using them again in the future.

We signed up for the 5 day bathroom and we had a great experience! The crew was wonderful respectful. We did run into some glitches and they were fixed immediately. The bathroom came out beautiful! Thanks to Rich our sales person, Emilio our project manager, and the crew Vladimir, Diego and Rob. Even when the job was done representatives from Allure called to make sure that everything was ok. Just call us very satisfied in Bethpage, NY

Had a energy audit done on 2/5/2011 by Mr Hubie Van Meurs a service provided by Alure. We would like to commend him and the company and thank him for being so efficient....Before leaving, he did a check for GAS LEAKS and found four... We contacted National Grid who responded within 1/2 hour...They found FIVE leaks and between National Grid and our plumber, the leaks were corrected.. If it had not been for this service, WHO knows what may have happened... My wife and I say he saved our lives and at least our home.....Its a great SERVICE and the gentlemen that perform it are professionals

We would not hesitate to use Alure again. Had a total bathroom redo. There were a few glitches along the way but they were always handled on a timely basis, we were always treated with respect, any of our questions were answered immediately. Neal, who coordinated our job was instantly available, by phone, email or at our door. Bathroom
looks great, & what's even better, if any problem arises
after the job is completed, Alure is responsive, which is
rare in this industry. Salesman was also most helpful, no
high pressure.

. We are thrilled with the final results of our custom kitchen. From the design stage with Mary Lou to the workers and their commitment to their jobs all helped to achieve the kitchen we were dreaming of. We could not be happier. Many of our friends have shared their unpleasant stories of their renovation experiences and I can say that they were impressed with the work Alure has provided us. We think the concept of a ??one point of contact? for all the trades is the way to go for a consumer. Mike Kelly was our project manager. He has been instrumental in overseeing the project and he can be credited with following through with each and every detail of our kitchen. He consulted, suggested and made sure that everything was successfully completed. The quality of the materials used, the workmanship and attention to detail was outstanding. We observed the different work crews from the demolition, floor, cabinets, electricians, etc and saw how much they took pride in their work. They worked until we were satisfied. I want to thank you for creating a company that leaves nothing to be desired.

We recently had a 5 day bathroom make over done by Alure. Everyone involved in the process was helpful and extremely knowledgable. The sales rep clearly explained everythig. The job manager returned calls promptly and answered all of our questions. Both he and the crew went out of their way to finish on time, even with a delay caused by unexpected plumbing repairs. A number or reviewers have said that Alure is "expensive". Both my husband and I felt we got what we paid for. The quality of product and craftmanship was excellent. This company stands behind their work with a 5 year warranty on workmanship and installation. We had minor follow up issues (unavoidable issues that were no fault of Alure) that were dealt with within 24 hrs. We are a working class couple that doesn't have money to spend carelessly. Yes, quality costs more, but so does peace of mind.

In today's world where everyone seems quick to complain, criticize, and disparage the work and workers for which one contracts, I would like to take some time to express my gratitude and appreciation to some of the staff and crew at Alure. I first contracted Alure approximately four years ago to help with updating my kitchen. Thereafter, I became a repeat customer with Alure updating two bathrooms. For those jobs, I owe much thanks to Jim Galizia for his help in designing all three projects, and to Dave Weber for his expertise in supervising them.I recently needed some minor problems corrected in my bathroom. Bert Duenas was there for both problems. He was courteous, ready to remedy the problems, and satisfy my concerns. I felt in good hands with Alure.

I have had many home improvements done by Alure. I have had several window replacements, two bathrooms, siding, and a garden window done with them. The work on every project has been EXCELLENT, from beginning to end. Their project managers worked along with me until completion and made changes I asked for while the work was in progress. On my recent bathroom renovation, there were problems due to previous conditions having nothing to do with Alure and they took care of them quickly and professionally and only charged me for materials. The siding job was incredible. The attention to details was beyond my expectations. If you look closely at the outside of my house compared to those around me on my block, you will see how superior the craftsmanship on my house is. They even corrected a leak on my garage roof not connected to the job. Both bathroom jobs were completed in 5 days. I have called to have minor corrections done and have always had Alure respond quickly, try to get that with most contractors. Before you complain about price, remember the old adage, "You get what you pay for." I have never had a problem with any of the Alure staff, they are absolutely courteous and professional every step of the way and put the customers needs first. I plan to have several more projects done and will NOT price shop. I will use Alure!

Found that all the personnel we dealt with in receiving a simple estimate were extremely condescending to both my husband and myself. From the sales person we spoke to at the Home Show, to the woman who set up the appointment, to the man who came to our house to give the estimate (who actually verbally insulted me). And after all that, received an email saying that he was not authorized to actually give us an estimate on the job we needed. Way too much red tape from such a well-established company! Maybe their egos need to deflated. Who cares if they were featured on Extreme Makeover Home Edition if their customer service is so terrible!!!! Definitely will be going with a smaller, friendlier, more efficient contractor.

this company is overpriced and the installation was not that good. i had a bay window installed which needed a new roof to put on top of it. The roof allure put on was not the same match as my other roof. After complaining about it, they told me that it was the same. I found the same roof material which i had to pay for myself so they could install. I can not believe that i had to pay for my own materials. What a joke and a ripoff. After i kept complaining they sent me a gift basket. Another joke, i threw it right out. Beware of this company....

We signed with Alure to gut and redo our bathroom, to do insulation improvements, and to install new basement windows.

PROBLEM #1: The basement/insulation people *stood us up* on the day our contract said they would begin. Apparently, they preferred to do all work at once, and had to coordinate with another job - but I wasted time off work waiting for them because they never bothered to tell us.

PROBLEM #2: Our bathroom designer told us the room would be done in 5 *days.* It has been 5 *Weeks* and they are still not done. Our shower door installer took 3 1/2 weeks just to come and measure for the new door, and we are still waiting for them to fix the broken vapor light and fix the brand new toilet that won't stop leaking.

PROBLEM #3: The basement window installers - in addition to "forgetting to reschedule back in April - came to do the insulation job but forgot they had the windows to do also. So we scheduled them to come a 3rd time, but they didn't realize they had to actually measure our existing window dimensions first so they didn't have the right windows. They said they would call to reschedule, but simply showed up while we were on vacation and wondered why we weren't there - AGAIN with the "not coordinating with the homeowner." Today was attempt #5 at getting our basement windows - but they called 2 minutes before they were supposed to arrive, saying "We're up in Westchester (2-3 hours away) - can we reschedule?" I should also mention the caller spoke heavily accented Spanish and I could barely understand the man. So next week - if they come AT ALL - will be ATTEMPT NUMBER 6 to get Alure to do what we were supposed to have had done FOUR MONTHS AGO.

Should someone from Alure read this, the only reply I'm interested in (other than the expected "sorry we weren't of service") is, how much of a refund we should expect - because we paid way too much to have problems like this.

Alure's basement finishing system is a wonderful addition to my home. We love our new office space and appreciate the quality of the work. The crew was hard working and trustworthy.

Paid top dollar for a mediocre bathroom remodeling. Did not find the crew very cooperative. Still having problems after 2 months. I think they got too big after Extreme Makeover and don't care about the small jobs anymore. Would not recommend them.

They renovated the bathroom and did excellent work - it looks beautiful. But they caused a lot of damage. Problem #1 - In testing the fixtures the drain to the tub was installed incorrectly and leaked (poured) down from the kitchen ceiling. They had to cut a hole in the ceiling to fix the tub. We had problems a few months ago when the shower faucet broke. This was one reason for the renovation. I told them I would repair the ceiling myself, and not to patch the hole. The supervisor during his review tried to tell me that was prior damage, This attitude annoyed me but as I stated I was going to replace and not patch the ceiling.Problem # 2 - In installing new electrical for the bathroom they disconnected the electric to the front pouch and outside lights. In the review the supervisor was telling me that my outside electric box was not up to code and that's what caused the problem. I even showed him that the wires were disconnected at the fuse box, and he denied it was his electrician that did this.

Not only does this company provide excellent quality materials and workmanship, but their employees and sub-contractors are also extremely nice people. They have a great reputation and have even done work for the tv show "Extreme Makeover Home Edition".
