As a parent of a child who went to happyland with the old owner yes things are different. The place is cleaner.and i can just say my daughter made a gifted program with all the teaching of MRS.C. Mrs Melissa in the summer helped my son adjust to being away from me with the most patience Ihave ever seen. My son in 4 months Has learned to write his name, he now draws, and he has become more social than ever.I think that the owner can be more involved. If she doesn't want to be their she needs to hire someone to sit @ the door...office.To blaime the teachers for that is wrong and to say that they dont care is wrong, I never saw a teacher COMFORT a child who is upset the way they do @ happyland. When my son was sick I recieved a phone call, they changed him and let him stay away from all the other kids so they would not be sick too.If you like a small setting, fresh air and anexperenced teacher UPK then u will be happy @ happyland.

I think this Day School is great. My daughter goes there for two years already.. and we are very happy to have her there. Polina seems to be a good person but difenetely she dislikes to commmnicate with parents..I love Mrs. S who teaches pre-K group. I've seen her in may situations with other kids... and she never looses her temper.. Every shool has pros and cons... This school also does.. But overall number os pros is much greater that number pf cons

I agree with the previous review! 100% true - Happyland is not so great! You can never get a hold of the director/ owner - Polina. This is a daycare facility not a day school. When you ask them about their teaching philosophy or curriculum, they don't know what you mean.

The only setback is that my child loves it there. So far, she looks forward to going there in the morning.

I wholeheartedly disagree with the previous review. My daughter has attended this daycare last year and let me just say that this is more a babysitting facility with no structure than a day care center. Although the owner/director, Polina, has spent a considerable amount on updating / remodeling the facility, she has not spent any time, nor does she have any experience, on making this a good school for toddlers. The teachers come and go, staff rotates, the so called "kosher" lunch is not really kosher, and kids watch tv for hours at a time. There are no specific policies, no security (kids can be picked up by anyone as long as they are recognized as relatives by a child), noone cares about helping the parent with potty training. If your child is "almost" potty trained, you better know that your child will regress at this school - as they don't allow you to bring a child who is not FULLY trained in underwear - kid has to still wear a diaper. The teachers screamed at kids in many different instances and my daughter was horrified of her teacher. Director or teachers only pick up the phone at certain times of the day - so the school is very hard to reach. Overall a VERY sour experience and a sorry excuse for a school.

Happyland is a cut above all the other day schools and camps in Brooklyn. They have a year round program including nursery school, preschool, prek and kindergarten programs as well as a summer day camp program. They also feature extended hours for those parents requiring supplementary day care service and hours, and the children are happy and well cared for, in addition to receiving a well rounded early years education.

They feature experienced licensed teachers all year round, and these are women who love working with children. They run a prek, a private kindergarten, and a nursery program, and their camp takes children from ages 2 through 11. the childrend are given nutritious meals including breakfast, lunch and a snack. They have programs time wise to accommodate all parents, full day, part time, and various numbers of week progrmas are available. They have day care from 7:30 to 6 p.m. for working parents, and in the summer they have a full sized outdoor pool.

The school and camp both have full varied programs age appropriate and is a great place for early childhood education as well as summer camp..

PROS: well supervised programs for children from toddlers to preteens
CONS: They presently are not running their public Pre-K prgrm, will resume soon
