I would never take my animals any where else then this place. It is clean, friendly and the staff love my animals. Dr. Kirk Sr. and Jr. take excellent care of my dogs and cats. They care about the animals and give excellent care. The fees are not high and they would never rip anyone off. I have been going here since 1984 and no one else comes close to the services we receive here.
The office is not fancy so but who cares. My guys are safe and well cared for. What else matters.

I've used Dr.kirk and honestly I think he is a great vet he's not interested in making money as you can see from the office he's all about the well being of the pets. people miss interprets his honesty as not caring but he's just speaking truth and not lies, to get u to spend your money when odds are against our loved ones. why would you want to see them suffer when money can't by a cure.

I have been using Queens Midway Hospital for over 12 years. When I first started going there, Dr. Kirk senior was in charge, he is now semi-retired and the practice is now run by both him and his son. Both father and son are very patient, kind and caring. The office is not fancy but it is clean. They also use holistic medicine. I have received discounts on office visits as I had 5 cats at the time. The only complaint I have is the office staff. Way back when Elizabeth and Nastasia where there, the office was run smoothly. The new staff seems young and not that knowledgeable. Our annual check-up is coming up so I'll see if there has been any improvements in the office staff. I have never boarded an animal there except after surgery. I feel if you want to board an animal, especially a dog, I would look for a place that has a dog run.

I had a cat name pumkin my baby boy for 6 years, who suffered from chronic constipation, I spent so much money bring him to the vet not DR Kirk, but another vet. Over 1 year in a half my cat suffered from constipation i decided to get rid of him due to not being able to continue paying for his care.I cared for my baby boy before giving him up I called the shelter and received informaton from ASPCA they gave me a number for pets for life so I called and was giving a vet who would be caring and would help, but that did not happen, Dr kirk was recommended I took my cat to him i started to cry stating to him i only had $100.00 could he please give my cat enemas to get better he said no that he could not help me I stated to him some one from pets for life recommended him and I started crying he DID NOT HELP ME,so I took my cat to the ASPCA, DR Kirk maybe a good doctor to those who have money but for those on a fixed income he doesn't care. P.S sorry pumkin I will miss you.

The vet seems to lack experience in dispensing medication. One time he prescribed medication that quickly killed my cat when she was dying. The next time the other cat was sick, but in a treatable condition, and prescribed her a heavy medication that was conflicting with another illness and triggered this illness causing organ failure. He never informed us that the medication was going to trigger the other illness nor that she had this illness of the kidneys. You get what you pay for and this is being diplomatic. The condition of animals is supposed to improve after you see vet, not deteriorate.

I only visited this vet once, on an emergency. It was the closest to my house. Was able to get an appointment within the hour which was great :-) Waiting area was clean. Wait time was 5min. Vet, staff and receptionist was very polite, helpful and patient.
Charges was a bit steep for us but it felt worth it. We were happy when we left. Will definitely be returning.
Have not used the boarding facilities.

The Drs. Kirk (father and son) are the most knowledgeable, helpful, and considerate vets I have ever run across. I have been using their services for over 10 years. A MAJOR plus for them is that they use holistic methods including various powerful natural supplements that other vets simply do not use. The only other vet I have encountered that is as effective as the Kirks was a vet I used in Connecticut years ago before I knew of the Queens Midway Animal Hospital. I was willing to travel that far for a vet who knows that medicines and standard treatments alone are frequently not enough.

I can't comment on the boarding issues as I have never boarded an animal there. I have been bringing my dog there for almost ten years and have brought many cats there over the same period of time. I trust the Drs. Kirk implicity and HIGHLY recommend their services. And no, I'm not getting paid for this review :)

I give them a Satisfactory because I believe the doctor is decent and my family has always used them. But for boarding I don't recommend them. I dropped off my cat on Dec 26, 2008 for a one week stay. The person working there was too busy to copy my only copy of the medical records from my other vet that I use. So I left the rabies certificate (tag) and another document and she told me she wouldn't lose them. I also left medicine and food.
I picked up my cat today and she looked like she had lost weight. She seems healthy enough but she reeks of urine. They couldn't find the pills and food that I had left so they had to call someone else to find out where they were. I also looked at the pill bottle and it looks as though they only gave half of the dosage. They also could not find my medical records.
Anyway, they are extremely disorganized and my guess is the staff is very young and inexperienced. Maybe that's why it's so cheap ($11/day). Ugh. Never again...

We used Dr. Kirk with our previous two dogs. It is not a fancy office, but we like the service that we get. The doctor is honest and he will not take you for your money, like some other hospitals. We used to board our dogs there also, when we went on vacation.

The people are very nice and friendly but everytime i picked my dog up she had scratches on her face and she was fithy. I was told her pillow would be washed and her nails would be cut but they weren't. She also was suppose to have her shots taken over the weekend but we were told the doctor never came in. Kind of made us wonder if anyone was in to really care for the dogs. My dog is also over weight so when we picked her up she had lost about 7lbs in 3 days. I don't know if she just didn't eat or if they are on a really strick diet.
