I went to this salon and I had one of the worst experiences. A man named ""Wit"" tended to me and gave me nothing what I had asked for. Im not sure if he is new to being a stylist but it felt very amateur and he performed a poor job on my hair. The job he did was so bad I was practically in tears. Please beware...
I've been a customer for 8 years. i can honestly say that i love the salon and highly recommend it. the staff is very friendly and professional. My favorite stylist is Margarita, she has taken care of my hair for some time now and she does a great job with my hair and provides great customer service. overall a outstanding establishment.
I am very pleased with the outstanding service I received from Wit during my recent visit at the filles et garcons on 11/02/11. From getting the best haircut in town and to provide the best of customer service, Wit has proof that understanding clients
I have been going to the hairdresser Irma at filles et garcons for over 14 years for weekly blow-dries and monthly cuts and that says it all!!! Need I say more? If I wasn
I have been going to F & G ever since its opening, probably 25 years. The manager has an exquisite charm and treats all her customers like family
This salon is a rare find. I
I've been a longtime client of Irma's at Filles et Garcons - she is my go to person for the perfect blow dry. Irma is the only person who can tame my naturally curly hair with her unique large round brush method - this works much better than rollers. I'm in and out of the salon in an hour! The owner, Michelle is a lovely, friendly woman who will accommodate appointments fantastically, and always has a supply of candy and the latest magazines. I have also been a client of Seon since 1996. Seon is an expert manicurist and she is my waxing lady - the best waxer in NYC, and I've been to many! Please give Filles et Garcons a try - they have served me wonderfully for many, many years!
I went to Filles et Garcon for four years. I started out paying $27 and four years later, just to cut off my ends on a straight cut, cost me $42 without a blowdry. I liked the stylist, Anna, but no one could ever explain to me why my haircut was costing more the longer I stayed with them. I know those are low figures by New York standards and I don't mind paying more as long as there's a good reason, and being a return customer isn't a good enough reason.
Pros: can take a walk in and get you done fast
Cons: kept raising the price
I've had two haircuts and one blow-out at this salon and I just made an appointment for another cut. This is not the kind of place that will hand you a latte upon your arrival and it's true that the ambiance leaves a bit to be desired. However, I think that it is because the salon doesn't try to be overly ritzy that they are able to offer such great prices. My hair is long (about mid-back) and my shampoo, cut and blowdry costs $52. I've previously gone to more expensive places (Lovella on the upper east side and Bumble and Bumble in midtown) and have had good cuts, but have shelled out about $100 by the time I tip everyone involved. I'm pretty obssessive about hair care so I wouldn't return to a place that I didn't feel was great. I've been bouncing around for a few years at different salons but I finally found some place where I've returned again and again. A great woman, Hang (not sure of spelling), has done my cuts and she really listens to what you want and has great attention to detail. I would recommend her to anyone.
Pros: Great cut at an amazing price
Cons: Salon isn't exactly glamorous.
I love this place you can walk in or call that day for an appt. I use Inga ...she always does a great cut and color for me... I have paid alot more for alot less end result. I highly recommend.
Pros: Inexpensive, convenient, quality/ value
Yes, it's a bit unprofessional. Always a lady with a bad accent at the front desk. I too have been passed around if i walked in for a service, however, they are quick if you're trying to get your hair done over lunch hour. They take appointments. Cindy is good for haircuts and Hank (philopino woman) is good for a nice shampoo/blowdry ($26). Theyhave a nice book with various styles to choose from. Can't beat the price. Just have to have patience.
Pros: Great prices, Lunch hour
Cons: , Front desk woman
I was mislead by the snazzy modern facade, and lured in by the cheap prices ($45 for color). Not only did I get passed around to 3 different stylists who didn't even bother to introduce themselves or say hello, but I was charged $80! The color is OK, but the service is atrocious.
Pros: quick, no appt needed
Cons: mysterious extra fees, rude
