Great Massages!

by Contributor .

I recently got a massage here and loved it. The masseuse was very strong and did a great job of getting out all my knots (and I always have a few). The atmosphere was pleasant and relaxing and I am looking forward to going back for another one.

Busy Person Package was exactly what we needed - 5 stars

by Ronniesmommy

I went to Ettia?s Spa because I was staying in the hotel nearby on the Upper West Side nearby. I am very glad it did. I highly recommend the Ettia Busy Person Package. It is a scrub, massage and facial. Even though my daughter and I had different people we both left very happy. It was exactly what we needed. We will definitely return the next time we are in the city.

Pros: the therapists

Not what I wanted, bummed.

by fivestarlife

Id called and asked for irene, hearing she was a great massues. Said Id like to do reflexology on my feet. Great . Irene? yes we have an Irene here. OK great. Got there, lovely girl Irena. Didnt know reflexology, at all. Then she said well alot of people dont like it hard? Im like its reflexology, its pressure points. I left said to clerk, that was terrible. We talked the whole time , cause she didnt know how to do reflexology, and her name is Irena not Irene, shes like oh ya Irene is good, been here a long time. I wanted Irene. I specifically asked for Irene. He said WEVE NEVER HAD A COMPLAINT, AND STARED BLANKLY. Ive looked up yelp n this they have had some complaints, he just kept saying, in shock, weve never had a complaint from anyone, I said how is that helpign me. Never again. Dont go here. Id go to Felines....I hear theyre lovely....

Pros: Got in fast , I wonder why.

Cons: bad customer service, and conflict resolution.

Very good massage and facial

by amandajulie1947

My boyfriend went there for a deep tissue massage and facial (I forgot the name of the package) and just had a great experience. We were 20 minutes late and still received all our time. I hate when spas cut your time. When we are back in the city we will be back.

Pros: great service and gave us our full time even when we were running late.

Cons: small waiting room

Great customer Svce. and Amazing Treatments!

by if777

I called last minute, and got a same day appointment. The spa was responsive over email, and telephone. When I got there, I was in a rush, and in a lot of pain. I got a massage with Irene and let me tell you, she took the time to listen to me and to find out what was hurting and where she needed to focus on. During the massage I could clearly see that she focused on my problem areas and didn't give me a 'routine' massage.

I've been to small spas, and fancy ones. The price was decent $110 per hour. I know that if you purchase another one there it will be 20% off. I also got a 10% off coupon for my next visit.

I really needed time to relax in my busy schedule, and they got me in and out on time, but I never felt rushed. The massage was so focused on my needs that I was hoping not too accidentally drool (lol). I am HIGHLY recommending this spa, and IRENE is Amazing. I will be coming back and I will be asking for her.

Pros: Individual service - attentive to personal requests

Cons: Didn't have time for more!

Ettia Rocks

by iluv2eat

This place rocks. The massages are seriously fantastic (believe I had Dan since I think there's only one guy) not sure who did my facial - but it was so good. I fell asleep. You cannot beat the place, sure its small but I've had some pretty bad massages and facials at other spas for twice the price. Try it - you won't be disappointed.

Pros: Nice people, all very relaxed

Cons: bit small, no waiting area

Incredible massage from Dan!

by Lexyprin

Fabulous massage! I called for a same-day appointment for a dual decadence message and was cheerfully told that they could give me an appointment at 5:30 by Dan. The spa is very small (four rooms), no frills, but Dan was incredible. I booked another appointment with him for a time in the future. Also, I used the 15% coupon from CitySearch, and received a 20% discount for my next visit. Very reasonable for an amazing massage.

Thanks Ettia!!!

by nancycohen1954

My daughter, who is only 15 years old, started breaking out I asked some friends what I should do. When someone I worked with recommended Ettia Holistic Day Spa I decided to give it a shot. Boy am I glad I did. I have taken her to to Ettia?s 3 times. Her skin has become so much better. I am so grateful because she has been so much happier. We have seen 2 of the estheticians there Jenny and Minori. Thanks Ettia!!!

Pros: facials

Cons: facials are great - i have not tried anything else yet

TERRIBLE Facial

by bettybooop

If you want to pay $125 for someone rub different creams on your face for an hour, this is the place for you. I have been getting facials since I was 16 years old (I'm now 34) for my oily, problemed, acne-prone skin. This was one of the most useless facials I have ever gotten. I explicitly told the receptionist that I am coming for extractions. She assured me that I would get that. When half the facial was over and virtually no extractions had been done, I asked the facialist why not and she told me that it was bad for my skin type and that she would "explain later." She proceeded to give me nothing more than a face massage for the whole time -- something that is horrible for oily skin as it just encourages more oil production. At the end when I told her how disappointed I was, she merely said that my "blackheads weren't ready to come out." When I pointed out a perfectly ready to be squeezed pimple on the top of my nose, she told me that it was too close to my eye. It was on the BRIDGE of my nose! I don't know if I am more upset that the facial was so horrible or that the manager, a foot away from us as I told the facialist how dissappoined I was with the service, didn't even ask what had happened. Instead, when I went to pay, he grumbled at me about the percentage discount for a first-time customer, and just tried to get me to book another service. It's too bad the facial experience was so horrible, because just prior I got a deep tissue massage from Paula that was great. She clearly knows what she is doing and was very pleasant. It's too bad because I doubt I will go into this spa again. The space is run-down, but I can be no frills if I get good service, which overall I clearly did not.

Great facial with Minori

by cgp13

I just had a facial with Minori and will definitely go back again. She is so caring about skin and very knowledgable. I have some medical problems with my skin and she knew all about the condition and how to treat it. I felt like I was in great, caring hands. It's a small spa but very relaxing and welcoming. If you're looking for a great, neighborhood facial, I highly recommend trying Minori at Ettia.

Pros: Technician skills, Price

Cons: Small Atmosphere

try the busy perosn package...it is good

by carrienyc2003

I got the busy person package that was up on citysearch and I am now hooked. The people are just great. They are very helpful. Unlike stuffy spas the people are nice. I go to a bunch of spas and most have ?spa hours? where massages are only 52 minutes but not this place all my services lasted a little longer than they were supposed to and I was late to the appointment. I am really glad I chose to go to ettia?s.

Pros: salt scrub massage facial and pedicure.

Cons: not that i saw

HORRIBLE!

by spaaddictnyc

I've had millions of facials and can tell the difference between a great one and a horrible one. Based on all the great reviews this place got, I decided to give it a try. I had just moved to the Upper West and wanted to find a local spa that offered great facials. THIS WAS THE BIGGEST MISTAKE I EVER MADE! I've never had such a horrible facial and felt so bad at the end. My face is now bruised and red, breaking out more than before i went into the spa.

First off, the place is dirty and dingy. The room I was placed in was cramped and had dirty sheets on the bed (sneaker footprints covered the sheet at the end of the bed). I felt like the entire procedure was rushed, and they were just trying to get me out of there asap. During the extraction, my facialist used way too much pressure (hence the bruises on my face now) and did not even get my face clean (hence the further breakouts). If anything, she just aggravated the problem!!

If you are a spa connoisseur like me, DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE! There are definitely many other places much better than this. May be a little ways aways from the upper west, but it's worth the hike.

Pros: None

Cons: Dirty, rushed, too rough with facial

Paula ROCKS

by poplofi

I went to Ettia today for the first time and had excellent service by Paula. I called a few weeks ago to try and book an appt during Spa Week but they were busy and so offered to extend the special rate for an appt 1 week later. That's the way to make a customer. First I had a mud wrap which was nice, then dipped in the shower and rinsed off to prepare for my next treatment. I received one of the best deep tissue/medical/soothing massages I have ever had. I usually go into massages letting them know what areas of the body I need/like work done on, but this time I decided not to do that. I am glad because Paula found areas I didn't even know I needed work done on - wow what a difference I feel now. She has a great personality and made me feel very comfortable. She is very skilled at her craft and I could feel the confidence in her touch, and I am a picky receiver of massages! I left feeling "the happies", which is a state of mind of extreme relaxation and happiness for me, that's how I know I have had a great massage. There was only only minor thing about the room which was the music at the beginning. It was opera and I am not a fan, so I asked Paula if we could turn it down a little, and she immediately took the initiative to change the cd which I thought was a good move. Smart gal. By the way on that note, never be afraid to speak up for something you want anywhere - this is all for you and it's important to create your own little nirvana space & time while you're there. Whenever I ask for what I need I can then relax much more.

The staff at the front was very nice too. I had heard about this spa having kind of a simple decor and it was right up my alley. Sometimes I go to massage places that are so overwhelmed by decor and style, it makes me forget why I am there. This was such a treat - definitely go here!

Pros: Excellent service, friendly LMT & staff, at-home decor!

A little UWS Oasis - Great massage from Paola

by elwork99

I just found Ettia Holistic Day Spa through Spa Week, and I'm so glad I did! The spa is cozy and peaceful, and Paola gave me a wonderful 45 minute Dual Decandence massage. I left feeling so relaxed and stress-free. My usual knots are all gone -- and ones I didn't even know I had before the massage are gone too!

The other people who work there were lovely as well -- they didn't rush you, pack too many people in or give you second-class treatment just b/c it was Spa Week. Instead, they gave me a real preview of how great their little spa is like any week of the year, and, as a result, I will be back!! Thank you, Ettia Spa!

The most calming and pleasant spa in NYC

by chanti

This spa was the best! In January, after doing a complete web seach for a good but affordable spa package for my friend's birthday, I made an appointment for the Busy Person Facial for her and myself. Well, I knew that it would be a small spa from reading the reviews, especially for the price, but I didn't think that it would be the size of an apartment, in an actual apartment building. But, as soon as you walk in, the design is so peaceful and the receptionist was so pleasant, we knew we were in for something good. Because of the accomadations, we had to be in separate rooms, her with a female and me with a male therapist, which was ok. IT WAS GREAT! At first I was a little uncomfortable with the idea of a man touching me, but Richard was so professional. From the body scrub, to the massage, I was just so relaxed and he made me feel so comfortable, that I fell slightly asleep. When he finished, my skin was so smooth and glowing, I couldn't believe it. I wanted to buy all the products right away! Afterwards I went to another great therapist for a facial (feel into a deeper sleep). In the end, my friend also enjoyed her first and best spa experience with Minori. And eventhough this wasn't my first, it too, was my favorite. I have recommended this spa to everyone I know, and plan to take my mother there for her birthday soon. Last note: the best part was that in no way were they attempting to sell additional spa treatments or products. Not once, did i get asked.

Pros: great treatments at an affordable price, pleasant personnel

Cons: Can't think of not one

Like Nike - JUST DO IT!!

by citygirl207

Okay, so I had to find a spa quick as a Xmas gift last December. Every spa was booked up that I was familiar with so I got on Citisearch to see what I could find. I was hoping that it would be good as it was a Xmas present, and when you give treatments as presents you want the person you are giving it to, to enjoy it. After reading all the lovely reviews it did not prepare me for the exemplary service I received at Ettia. The spa packages were a gift from my sister and I to my mother and then from my sister to me and me to my sister. Okay that's a bit confusing, but Bartly made appointments for all 3 of us and it was the absolute best massage and facial I have ever had! My mother loved it and so did my sister. Since then I have been back last month and will be going this month. Minori is wonderful and did a very thorough job on both my facials. Richard was wonderful and I forgot the other young lady (Sorry I think her name was Susan) but she was great also! So is it the most glamorous spa in the city? No but who cares! They have the best facials, massages and customer service this side of the river! That is all that matters. I have been to some of the most ?upscale? spas in the city and had mediocre service and indifferent aestheticians who could care less. The prices are reasonable and it is a great boutique spa. When you are done you feel like silly putty. Without writing a lengthy dissertation I encourage anyone who could use a great relaxing massage and facial to go to Ettia and make haste.

Pros: The atmosphere was very relaxing - great massages and facials oh I forgot very important - no sales pressure what so ever!

Cons: Cons? What cons?

I have been to Bliss and other 5 star Spas but I have never felt relaxing like I felt at Ettia?s spa everybody is great in there friendly staff they seem to treat all clients the same there was an actress there when I was done and I sow how she was treat as well, this is the kind of place that wee all need to go and feel equal with all the other. I have to say that the place when you walk in does not seem that luxurious but what matter is that I left happy I am willing to go back on regular bases. I had Minori for 90 minutes facial and she is wonderful and very talented

Spa? HA!

by spafanatic2

DISAPPOINTMENT-I walked into this place to treat my girlfriend to a gift certificate. The website and reviews were great, so I didn't think twice about choosing Ettia. So much for that...
I had to check the address twice to make sure that I wasn't at the wrong place.

It was so ratty looking (like a converted apt) with like four rooms- not exactly what I pictured. I waited for this girl to help me---to see if I could have a look around, not that I really needed one (she was clearly on the phone with a friend and ignored me).

As I waited, briefly---I came to my senses and walked the heck out. No wonder it looks like that, with such terrible customer service they probably can't pay the bills to upgrade thier place or space...

Pros: Finding out that I can convert my apartment into a day spa, ignore ppl and charge!

Cons: RUN-DOWN, bad customer service.

I had a facial with Minori shes excellent she is very knowledge about the skin she wrote a demo how should I take care of my skin, even thought I could not afford to buy the products she still helped me she said just use your own products and follow the instructions that I gave it to you. Before leaving I ended up buying a gift for me mother for $500 hundred dollars so she can choose the services that she likes. I highly recommend ettia spa to anybody anywhere. love the facial and massage here

by bethnyc2006

I have become a sorta regular there and they really go out of their way to make me feel good. My last massage therapist was Roxana. It was great. I have been to 4 massage therapists there. The place is cute and everyone is really nice. When I was talking to the front desk about feeling rushed at another spa she told me at Ettias they put 15 minutes between the appointments so I never feel rushed if I am a few minutes late. Almost always the therapists will chat for 5 minutes after the appointment and show me stretches I can do. Oh yea the massages are actually an hour if you dont go to a lot of spas most places charge you for an hour and only give you 50 minutes. I guess that is what happens if a place does not put some time between each apt.

Pros: massage and facial are great

Cons: can't do large parties there

great reflexology

by emilynyc123

I went back here again and wanted to fill out a review. As someone that goes to days spas frequently in the city and loves to try new places I really love coming back here. It's not the Ritz, but it is a small, intimate place where you feel remembered and special. What they lack in space and amenities they more than make up for in quality of the services and how you are treated once you are here. I just had reflexology ( which is not a foot massage) but a treatment that can make your entire body feel relaxed at at east by a skilled therapist.

It was so powerful and helped to unlock powerful stuck emotions in me that I cried after the treatment since I felt such a sense of release, a rare experience for me! It was such a nurturing treatment. I would wholeheartedly recommend the therapists here to anyone that feels "stuck" physically and/or emotionally.

Pros: theropists lreally like their jobs

i went to Ettia's Holistic after reading what the editor wrote on city search (not thinking too much about holistic is different) and got a fantasic facial but what blew me away was the deep tissue massage i got right after. my therapist was telling me about my body and things that he could feel with my digestion problems and other stuff such as i was drinking too much caffine (that was a long work week). it was amazing. i never really knew about the holistic before BUT right after i stopped by barnes and noble and bought a book on it.

Ive been at Ettia Holistic Day Spa recently, I created my package over $200 Dollars and they gave me a 20% off in each treatment. I had a 1 hr basic facial & 90 minutes Swedish massage, I felt great after each treatment, my skin was glowing especially that my skin is sensitive; they have different products that they use according to your skin. I highly recommend you should try to get a one hour basic facial or any a massage. The staff was excellent, any the services were worth every dollar. A little too pricey

by sandflea0508

The massage was excellent but I was shocked by the price ($130 for a 1 hour massage) - because of the high price, I expected that I was going to walk into a luxurious spa setting - hardly, there is a bench with a few cushions on it that they ask you to sit on while you are waiting for your room to be prepared. The people were friendly and the massage was very good. I do however think that they have a difficulty justifying that price considering that Bliss doesn't even charge that much!

Pros: Nice people, Good Massage

Cons: Too expensive, No atmosphere

Best Holistic Day Spa

by fionburns

Ettia Holistic Day Spa is a sanctuary where
you will be completely catered to. Ettia is a holistic
guru who offers the best in facials. I would recommend everyone to try it out for themselves.

From the staff to the actual massage. I truly had an amazing Ettia experience. I am a LA resident and truly wish that there was another location here!!!

Pros: reasonable prices, peaceful, relaxing ambiance

I just had their Fall Special, and it was fantastic. Totally lost track of time and I came out feeling great about my body. They are very friendly and down to earth.
