Timothy John's Salon in Midtown has to be one of the places in NYC that I would die without. I have a crazy schedule, but TJ's always fits me in. It may be with a different stylist each time, but the outcome is always amazing. I have never felt more comfortable going to a salon in all my life. Timothy amazing, and it has worn off on all the other stylists there.

I lived in NYC for over 6 years and my last year living there had found Timothy John's Salon and Feliciano. I've since moved away to CT but it doesnt stop me from making the 2+hr trip to NYC to get my hair cut and colored by Feliciano. He is the best! I always leave with a great cut and a ton of compliments!

I love coming to see Timothy for my highlights and cut. I've been having highlights for years and he really is the best. A very natural color and he gets right to the hair line so they last a long time. Can't wait for my next appointment.

I always came out of Timothy John's Salon feeling quite special. The staff is always so friendly and the work they do with color is exceptional. Now that I live in Connecticut, it's hard to get down there regularly and I miss them so much.........I hope to be able to come back soon because no one has ever cut my bangs right since.......sigh.......

I have been a clients of Timothy's for 8 years. In all of these years he has continued to give me the most cutting edge color and cuts. I always feel ahead of the trend, and I love it! I never feel as if Im sporting the same Jennifer Aniston style as everyone else, and I so appreciate it! Thank you Timothy for keeping me up to date and up to style!

As an actress looks are everything and I have to look like my headshot - Timothy John's is the only place I've found that doesn't cut my hair shorter than I've asked. Sometimes when I'm on the road for a while I've had to get a haircut, and then when I come back home I have Timothy fix it - no matter what salon I get my hair cut at, I keep coming back to the best - Timothy John's! p.s. Timothy is genius with color!

I read all of the reviews here, and decided to try the salon out. I figured why not? I had my hair cut with Elena. She and I talked about what I was hoping to achieve in my style, and I told her "anything will be better than what I have." She did an outstanding job with my terrible tresses! I will definately go back.

I am so Happy I stopped in at Timothy John's Salon. I have walked past this place a hundred times going to and from work, and have always been intrigued by 1. how cute it looks, and 2. how busy it always seems to be. My mother always told me not to go to places that looked empty. It means everyone else knows something you dont. Anyway, I made an appointment with Timothy for a new haircut, a change, something different but manageable. He had so many different suggestions, and helped to guide me to a style that would work for me. When we were done, I had a smile that stuck on my face from the moment I stood up, to the moment I fell asleep. Then I woke up with a smile that lasted all day. I know it sounds cheesy, but I am so happy with my haircut. Thanks Timothy!

I followed a stylist who left Timothy John's after I had been a client there for several years. The stylist was great, but i couldnt get my hair washed in her sink anymore! So, I scheduled an appointment with Dawn. I realized that I missed my salon experience. The staff at Timothy John's are all very sweet, and welcomed me without question, just open arms. Getting my hair washed is when I realized that I never should have left. Go to Timothy John's, they are all wonderfully talented, and sweet people too! Thanks for making me feel welcome.

their cuts are really good, but see what happened to me during coloring:
1) after color was applied stylist switched his attention to another customer and another girl washed out color from my hair using SHAMPOO! (which is unbelievable)
2)nobody bothered to dry my hair
3) my last cut lasted about 10 minutes
4)they all wash hair with incredibly hot water (are they only persons in town who doesn't know that it is not good for hair?)
5) my friend is also their customer, but she is not happy with her color because it does not cover grays at all

I just had the Keratin Straightening done at Timothy John's Salon, and it is Amazing. I have frizzy curls, not pretty ones, so I blow-dry my hair straight every day with flat iron. And on a humid day like weve had lately, I will spend all that time for nothing. Not anymore! My hair looks beautiful soft and straight even with the humidity! I love it!

I just moved next door to Timothy Johns Salon, and thought it looked really cute and busy so I decided to make an appointment for a haircut with Elena. She helped me decide on a great length for me, which wouldnt be too hard to style and that I could also throw into a pony when I go to the gym. My haircut turned out exactly how she told me it would. She is really talented, and nice to talk with too! Then salon is small so you get to see and hear everything which is fun. No complimentary wine though....which would be nice.

I have hot curly hair now!! After 24 years of stick straight hair and nights of attempted curls going flat within a half hour, I finally got the perfect "body wave" perm I was looking for. Timothy was great - and listened when I said I wanted loose curls that looked natural. I was worried about how it would turn out, but it looks great - my boyfriend can't get over how much he likes it (and I can't get over how little time it takes me to get ready! I am a wash-and-go girl now!)
I have also been going to Elena for my haircuts and she always does a great job! Not only does she give me the style I ask for, she makes my hair look its best! Thanks to Timothy John's for making me look MY best!

My fiance made me schedule an appointment here because our wedding is in a week. The receptionist was very helpful and scheduled me with Dawn. He told me she would take good care of me....I said its just a haircut, it doesnt matter that much(dont tell my fiance). Dawn was a lot of fun to talk to, and she gave me more than "just a haircut." She changed my view of what a haircut should be. I can never go back to my 20 barber. Now that Ive had a great cut and style, I know that its totally worth a few extra bucks. Oh...my fiance jumped me when I got home!!!!!

I just had my haircut with Timothy....yes, the Timothy of Timothy John's Salon. I didnt know what he would be like, as I have been to Salon Owners before, and it hasnt been the best. Anyway, Timothy was awesome! He met me at the front, took time to discuss haircut options, gave me an honest opinion, and delivered a haircut that was top of the line! Oh....He even did my shampoo, which is unheard of!

I have been to every salon in the theatre district, and Timothy John's is hands-down the best. I am in my late 40's, and my hair makes me feel like Im in my 50's. I know its horrible. I had my haircut by Feliciano a few months ago, and no lie....It is the best haircut I have ever had. He also showed me how to use the Moroccan Oil to improve my dry hair....Its Amazing! He encouraged me to come back in 6 to 8 weeks, which is a lot earlier than usual for me, but because he did such an amazing job, I thought I would trust him. Well its been 8 weeks, and he was right! My hair has never looked better.

I have been going to Elena for the past year. She gives me beautiful blonde highlights that look like they are growing out of my scalp. Its Amazing how natural it looks. I get compliments all the time. She also gives me an amazing haircut every time I see her. I have had it long and short.....it always looks amazing. Go see Elena at Timothy John's.....You wont regret it!

After reading all the great reviews I came to this salon with pictures of the styles i was going for, and had an idea of what i should look like when i left. When i got there, everyone seemed friendly and i sat with the person to do my color. As she did my consultation, she asked if i had colored my hair previously and i responded: "not in the past year or so" then she asked if i had any relaxer in my hair, which i then responded; "no".These questions were fine as I just so happen to be mixed with Jamaican,Italian and Polish heritage. And my hair is obviously too gorgeous for anyone to think that its natural. When i changed into my smock I came back to have the owner re-ask if i had a relaxer in my hair. When i told him no he proceeded to ask if i was sure. I then said: "i have never gotten a relaxer in my life". At which this point, I must have been lying cause he asked for a third time and stated that "even it was a year or two ago it's still in your hair." I was completely taken aback and astonished, that a so -called "professional" would question a first time client and continue to ask as if i wouldnt know. Although i was quite insaulted i took his questioning as a compliment and continued to get my hair done. The person who did my cut was very sweet and tried her best to be friendly. She started out okay (my friend who has never been professionaly trained can blowdry my hair 3 times better than her). As she finished, my hair was dry and frizzy and i was not satisfied with the blow-dry. When she started my cut, a client of hers came in and she was so focused on the fact he was there. She rushed through my cut (although it took 1 1/2 hrs.) obvioulsy he was a regular and unfortunately had to wait. Instead of finishing the style, she said " sorry i can't finish the style i would've bumped the back with a flatiron but you could probably do it when you get home- cause you know he's waiting". At this point, i was infuriated and was astonished that a prosfessional wouldnt have the decency to finish her job especially when i'm a paying customer. No salon i have ever went to has never- not finished, simply because someone was waiting! I was embarrased to walk out of there knowing that I paid 3 times as much at this place than if i were to go to a salon outside of the city. I was totally unsatisfied. And was dissapointed in the customer service and amount of time and money wasted. My cut was bland and not what i wanted and my color was something a friend of mine could of done- free of charge. i called the salon the next day ,and after not getting a response, i went to the salon- a WEEK later and told the owner i wasnt happy he asked what was wrong i told him that the cut was not what i wanted and he began to tell me a whole bunch of BS. He stated that his clientle is mostly of Caucasian descent, (Like white people dont have curly thick hair) and they do not typically have women come in with "my type of hair". When questioned what he meant by "my type of hair" he stated " well, ethnic hair". He continued to go on and on about how doing my type of hair is like a "whole other field of hair" and how his equipment is simply not hot enough to striaghten my hair! I left with his reassurance that he or someone else would fix my hair- if i had it blown out before i came! Funny how the owner of a HAIR salon tells me that he as well as his staff are incapable of blow-drying thick/curly hair. I intended on going but i just could not be botherd- with the lack of customer service. I'm just gonna stick to my "once a week lady" and pay 1/3 of the price. You know that saying: "you get what you pay for"? I clearly did not get anything close to what i paid for, and i was embarrased to even tell people how much i truly paid to pretty much look exactly the same only with a touch of color added. If youre thinking of going to Timothy Johns think twice if youre not 100% Caucasian.

i came to this salon becasue of the feedback on citysearch. i was most impressed with the fact that the owner of this salon took the time to address negative feedback. i felt that even if i didn't like the way they did my hair ...that atleast i was coming to a place where the owner actually cared. i have to say after going to two other places (both well reviewed by citysearch) the third time really is the charm.

i came in with an appointment to see Dawn. we talked and were on the same page about what was to be done with my razor frayed holes everywhere ..hideous looking hair.

she was so skilled and just so great overall. she started working on my hair and somehow managed to make it look better. we both agreed that it needs some more growing out..but atleast it's going to grow out looking sophisticated and not dated. for that a big thank you to Dawn!!!! i can't wait to go back. yeaa!!

bottom line....i wish i had found this place before my fine hair was butchered with a razor and chopped to pieces into a 1970's hair style meant for a guy.

try this place out. you won't regret it.

I had wanted to check this place out due to all the good reviews and all I can say is that the place lived up to its reputation! As you walk in you immediately feel like you are at home, the staff are friendly and it has has a relaxing happy and comfortable feel unlike may of the larger more pretentious salons. I got my medium length, wavy hair cut by Brandy who did a wonderful job and I'm so happy with how it looks!

This has never happened to me before. But I was on the subway after getting my hair done at Timothy John's by Feliciano. This girl tapped my shoulder and said...I love your cut and color! Where did you get it done? I said I went to Timothy John's and saw Feliciano....Then I whipped out my referral card that Feliciano gave me and told her she should see him. She said that she is a stylist and loved what he did. She said she works in Soho, but would even consider sneaking in to see him! How funny is that. I thought it was the best compliment ever!

I live on the East Side, so when one of my co-workers kept raving about Timothy John's I was hesitant. Mainly because I didnt really want to trek across town, but after seeing her great hair everyday and disliking mine, I made an appointment with Timothy. First, it was super easy to get to. Second the salon is really cute, and homey (is that how you spell it?). And Last, Timothy gave me the best haircut of my life. He is really charming, sincere, and genuine. And he is an amazing stylist. I will continue my trek across town for Timothy John!

Two years ago I came to this salon and loved my cut and color. I didn't go back because I was trying to stay on a hair budget, but two years later I have found that it wasn't worth the unhappy times.

I've come back and once again and smiling ear to ear on the work that Dawn did. I have curly hair it is nice to have someone with the same type of hair work on you.

You would be silly to go anywhere else!!

Thank you thank you thank you for saving my hair. I recently decided that I was going to go back to my natural color because being a blonde was becoming too expensive. I bought a boxed color at the store that looked like a perfect match to my natural color. Without going on, I turned my blond hair green....What???? It was horrible. I called Timothy Johns, and they squeezed me in with Ashley. The owner Timothy and Ashley talked with me about what I wanted. I said anything but green, and they told me they would do the best they could to help me. They were very upfront about how the results could vary because of what I had done, but they promised me I would look good.
I look Great. They gave me the natural light brown I was wanting, with some great blonde highlights to make me feel like i could still have some fun! Plus they told me the maintenance would be easier for me and my wallet! Thank you Ashley and Timothy!

Timothy John's is hidden on 53rd St. I say so, because I have lived in the neighborhood for 4 years, and just happened to walk by and notice the busy and cute salon. I walked in on a whim, and made an appointment with Timothy for the following week. I was really excited, then nervous, then excited, then nervous, but when my day came to see Timothy, I was excited! Let me tell you something, Timothy is so sweet. He listened to what I wanted, and delivered. On top of giving me the best haircut I have ever had in NYC, he made great conversation. He genuinly seemed interested in getting to know me, which was amazing. Thank you Timothy!

I had several cuts there. The place is good, very nice people and good cuts. But I didn't like several things. One of the stylists cut my hair too short - while I told her clearly NO BANGS. it was really awful - I am in sports and I have a lot of problem with hair now, they fall on my face. The most short parts of my hair were as short as 2 inches. Also, they charged me for additional service without telling me that it will cost me. I will find another place to cut hair.

As a first time customer, I requested Feliciano to cut my shoulder-length curly hair, based on another reviewer's comment that he had done a great job with their curly hair. I was not disappointed - Feliciano transformed my overgrown, pyramid-shaped mop into a lovely full-bodied cascade of waves and curls. He was very attentive, very friendly and pleasant, and asked me a lot of questions about my hair, AND, thankfully, did not try to talk me into straightening it. I will definitely go back, and I highly recommend Feliciano.

After reading many reviews for different salons, the negative ones in particular, I reached a sort of enlightenment and decided to post my thoughts. I've been to Timothy John's two or three times. To be fair, I am extremely picky and difficult to please when it comes to my hair - I have stressed out many a stylist with my detailed requests and lines of questioning. I can tell you that they have the patience of saints at this salon. They addressed my concerns, and I know that they did their best to fulfill my expectations, and I appreciate this a lot. I know that I can be a pain. Now, as a seasoned salon junkie, I recommend that you give this salon a try. They do nice work, especially for the prices. Everyone at this salon, from the receptionist, to the stylists, to the owner - they are all very pleasant and made me feel comfortable and welcome. I have come to the conclusion that you really need to try a salon for yourself in order to make the right judgment call. Hair is a very personal (and complicated) matter - and sometimes it takes a lot of experimenting before you find a salon or a particular stylist that is really a right match for you. And although I was not ecstatic after my last visit, after some self-reflection, I realized that your salon outcome is not totally dependent on the staff/stylist. It may also be dependent on how you *communicate* your ideas and desires. And if I had to review myself on how well I communicate, I would give myself a much lower grade than I gave the salon. I really feel that if you communicate your desires more clearly to your stylist, you are more likely to get the outcome you want. Maybe the negative reviews for this salon may be more of a reflection of how the clients communicated their desires to the stylists, rather than how the stylists performed. I intend to go back to Timothy Johns, and keep these ideas in mind when I communicate what I want to the stylist. I bet that I'll have a much better result than I did last time.

I was a little worried when I was told I would be getting my hair done by the lowest priced stylist, Ashley, at Timothy John's, but I needed to get my hair done before I went home for Christmas. Ashley is excellent! She is really cute, and right off the bus from the Midwest. But she gave me a haircut that rivals any New Yorker. I couldnt believe I walked out of Timothy John's looking as great as I did for only 50.00.

You have to be kidding with how talented Feliciano is. The haircut he gave me last week may be, hands down, the best I have ever had. I saw the reviews here on Citysearch, and decided to give it a go before Thanksgiving. When I went home to visit my family, everyone kept commenting on how fabulous my hair was. They kept saying my NYC hairstyle was great. They went on and on and on... I loved it! Thank you Feliciano for making my return home from the city a huge success!

I recently saw Dawn at Timothy John's, and loved everything about her. I am one of those girls who loves to be a blonde, and I need to get my highlights done often to keep up the look. Well, like many others in the city I just lost my job, but didnt want to lose my look. Dawn was very understanding, and told me that if I put more of my natural color back with blonde pieces, I wouldnt need to come back as often. I couldnt believe she was helping me ,afterall, she wouldnt see me as often. The fact of the matter is that Dawn cared more about helping me acheive a more manageable color, than talking me into the same high maintenance one. I still look like a beautiful blonde, and feel beautiful too! Thank you Dawn for helping a girl out when she was down!

I was a Timothy John's Salon fanatic before my job took me to California for the last 2 years, but I am back, and Timothy John's is everything I remember and more. When I moved, I spent a ton of money at a trendy salon in LA, and the only thing i truly loved was the atmosphere. Timothy John's doesnt serve wine, or coffee...but Who Cares? I can buy my own bottle of wine or cup of coffee. I want to walk out of a salon with beautiful color and a haircut that is even. Timothy delivers every time. If I ever have to move for work again, I will definately fly to NYC for Timothy.

I had the greatest haircut of my life yesterday with Dawn. I brought in a few photos of haicuts that I envied, and Dawn figured out a way to pull the best parts of each photo, and make them work on me. Nobody has ever taken the time to listen and look at what I was dreaming about, talk with me about my hair type, maintenance, and care...then give me the exact haircut we discussed. Dawn was thorough, fun, and amazing. I told her I was going to write a review, because everyone needs to know how talented she is. Dawn works part time, but I will schedule around her...thats how great this haircut is!

You do realize, topdg, that they cannot legally charge your credit card anything just because you missed an appointment. A credit card can only be charged with a signature, and since you didn't give them one, you can contest it with your credit card company. It's only the people who don't contest it who get charged these "missed appointment" BS charges. Just contest it, they can't charge you anything without your written confirmation. Trust me, I'm a lawyer. And I've been to this salon, I know how horrid everyone there is. You didn't miss out on anything. They're catty and provide bad service, bad attitudes and don't take any criticism into consideration- they just think it's the client's fault. My hair is still fried from Amy and her shoddy work. You got lucky!!!!!!!!!

I tried Timothy John's Salon on a recommendation of a friend, and it was really wonderful. The salon is quainte and charming, and the staff was really nice. I had a haircut with Elena. She was excellent. She asked a lot of questions, and she delivered exactly what she said she would do for me. Also she introduced me to Morroccan oil. It's amazing.

I recently moved to the Metro building on 53rd street from Downtown. Its a great neighborhood with so many places to eat and hang out. But to my surprise, 53rd Street is home to the most amazing little salon in the city. I walked in on a whim yesterday hoping to be seen by anyone for a haircut. They didint have anyone available, but they took my name and number, and assured me they would call if something opened up. Not two minutes later, they called and said they had a cancellation. Unfortunately I couldnt go right back, but they said they would try again. They called back, and said that they had an opening in the evening with Elena. She was amazing. Easy to talk to, full of great ideas, and a great hairstylist.
It has been a while since I was treated so kindly by everyone in one place. Im so glad I moved next door. Thank you!

Timothy John is a Hair God!!!! I have heard of Timothy John and his salon for years, but never tried him, because I enjoyed my 5th ave hairstylist. I really liked my 5th Ave cut, and but my color was never quite right, and I really loved the thought of going to 5th Ave....It felt so.... you know...5th ave. Well...everything fell apart, I lost my job, and couldnt afford my 5th Ave style, and I have job interviews with roots from hell.
I called with a few questions for Timothy John's Salon. I was very nervous. But the receptionist was full of great help, and offered a complementary consultation with Timothy ( complimentary consult with the owner?). From the second I met Timothy I was at ease...we discussed options for me, and he elightened me with a change from my normal to something that would bring out my eyes, and would be more realistic for me to maintain, and style on my own. After the consultation, I scheduled an appointment for the following week. He asked me if I trusted him with the new style, and with the color selection. I said....absolutely.
He rocked my hair out!!!!! Good Bye 5th Ave! Im staying in Midtown. Not only did he rock out my color and cut, but the price was about half of what I was paying across town. I just sent three of my girlfriends to Timothy after we met for drinks, and they freaked out at how hot I look!
Timothy made me feel like I can take NYC on again. Watch out! If you see a really hot confident blonde walking down 8th Ave...Its probably me.

Too bad they don't have a zero number of stars.Avoid this place!!! I made an appointment on Tuesday for the next day. When I booked I was told they would need my credit card to hold the appointment. Fair enough. I had an unavoidable emergency the next morning (a water line broke in my apartment) and called to rebook the appointment. It was then i was told for the first time of their policy to charge me $30.00 because I was not giving them 24 hours notice. How could I? I was calling to not cancel, just change, the appointment. The owner David would not budge. It was my first appointment and it sure will also be my last. My big gripe is that the receptionist never informed me of the cancellation policy until I phoned.

I was really, really lucky to stumble upon timothy john's salon after reading reviews on citysearch and deciding to give them a try. what i found was an incredibly competent staff that i trust completely with my hair. they're detail oriented, very skilled, and really fun to chat with. also, the integrity of the salon can hardly be questioned for stylists' decisions to leave. its my understanding that that is the nature of the trade. i've been with amy for three fabulous cut and colors; now that she's left, im totally confident that any of their stylists will do an equally wonderful job. timothy john's is a bit pricey for me, but it's really worth every penny. my highlights have been expertly applied, and don't require a ton of maintenance which has in effect meant that they've paid for themselves since I don't need to go as often. total strangers have stopped me to ask who does my hair. i recommend timothy john's every time.

Since moving to NYC I have been looking for a pocket friendly salon with a neighborhood feeling. I found that at Timothy John's Salon. The salon was in a perfect neighborhood, only a couple avenues from where I work, so I decided to give it a try. I read the reviews on citysearch and thought it was too good to be true and scheduled an appointment with Feliciano. Feliciano gave me an excellent consultation on my hair, mixed the perfect color (which I have had a problem with at other salons), and gave me a lasting blowout. After styling my hair he gave me tips on how to maintain my hair and which products to choose. I bought shampoo and conditioner suggested by Feliciano (but by no means pushy which is another problem I find at other salons when trying to sell products). I believe I have found a salon I can trust and rely on!

I started going to Timothy John's last fall when Feliciano was new. I have extremely thick, wavy hair that tends to frizz up and had been cutting my own hair for about 10 years. I typically kept it short because whenever I tried to grow it out I'd get overwhelmed by its bulk. I had also been traumatized by stylists who did not know how to take care of my hair.

Feliciano is a wavy-hair genius. Over the last year he has consistently given me cuts that flatter my hair while it's growing out. I have seen him trim, then thin with scissors, then go back and thin again with a razor to make sure he took off enough bulk. My hair has always been well-shaped. He is good at listening to what you're looking for, explaining what's actually possible, and gives great advice. He suggested Moroccan Oil Curl Cream which has been a great product for me.

He also does an awesome blow-out and got my hair straighter & smoother than it has ever been in its natural life. He gives helpful suggestions and educates you about the salon's menu without pressuring you or overselling.

My second cut initially left me very uncomfortable because it felt too bulky. In retrospect it was only because Feliciano styled it curly (trying to show me a new technique) but it really freaked me out at the time. I called the salon hoping to express my issue so we could avoid it next time. Feliciano immediately invited me back in to readjust. I appreciated his professionalism and ability to listen to my concerns. I have had months of great cuts ever since.

Feliciano is a talented, fun, friendly & professional stylist. He's the first stylist who was ever able to understand my hair and earn my trust, and really gave my hair a new chance at life. Highly recommended for the wavy-haired.

I can honestly say that I have never seen so many talented people in one room. I was super early for my appointment last week with Dawn, so I had the opportunity to sit and watch the magic for awhile. Every stylist in the salon was knocking out these rediculously amazing and fantastic styles. One guy was getting his hair cut (very cute) and the stylist turned him from handsome to drop dead hot!!! Then Timothy, the owner was working on a girls color and I couldnt stop watching....I was shocked at how precise yet quick he applied the foils and color. I swear there was great hair in every direction. P.S...I left with an exceptionally perfect cut from Dawn. Timothy John's Salon.....Fantastic!

Ive watched all of the reality hair shows on tv, and Timothy could beat any of those stylists....hands down. I have been to Timothy twice. Both times he has given me a huge makeover. First I wanted to be a blond bomb shell with long layers....I looked amazing. Then I wanted to be a redhead short and sassy....Again Amazing. I cant recommend him enough. He is a lot of fun, totally honest, and a master at what he does. I could ask him to make my hair purple, and I know it would still look fab!

I actuall live overseas, but went into Timothy John's last week for a last-minute cut and colour. Feliciano did a BRILLIANT colour with the prettiest highlights .I have a rather unusual colour -- a copper-gingery red, which can throw some stylists for a loop, but he got it SPOT ON! And a really nice cut too! All the staff there were lovely. Anytime I'm in NYC you can be sure I'll be back!

After years of miss after miss after miss with my hair, I tried Timothy John's Salon. I had my haircut with Elena, and she gave me the best cut and style I have had in the city. I have read the reviews on here over and over, but never wanted to risk a change from my other stylist who was giving me mediocre cuts. So finally after much contemplation and anxiety, I made an appointment. Im so mad at myself for not going sooner. The salon is cute, and clean, and everyone seemed to be in great spirits. My haircut with shampoo, scalp massage, and blow-dry was under 80.00. Totally worth it!!!!

I just had my hair done yesterday here and I've been going for "a while." It's the third salon I've been to since I moved back to NY in 2004 and it's the best so far.

To counter some of the other reviews: my original stylist left and I started seeing Dawn who has been wonderful and we talk about what I want and we try different things and it either works or doesn't work but she listens to me and some of my ideas just haven't worked so we go back to what did work. But she listens. And I notice the other stylists do as well.

I'm GLAD they spent the time letting my color sit and glossing it. and what are they supposed to do while my color is setting? Play cards? I mean, they have to make money too! And yesterday my color sat for almost 40 minutes. If they do that 3 or 4 times a day that is a lot of time to throw away.

PLUS I get to watch the other cuts and colors being done and even the junior stylists are so professional and methodical. They get it right and Timothy does oversee their work. I think Feliciano, the youngest stylist, has so much talent. I love watching him work.

And they sell product but never force it on you or even try to sell it like most places I've been to. Yesterday was the first time I bought something there because I just really liked the product and the last time she used it, they didn't have it for sale. Even with product, my cut and color is less than most places that do not give as much time and attention.

My cut and color takes hours and I know that it's an effort and I'm glad it's made.

If you want to spend more money for less attention and come home laden with useless products that someone forced on you then go to another salon!

If not, come here for reasonably priced quality cuts and/or colors.

I actually first tried TJ salon a week after paying $125+ for the worse haircut of my life. Elena, who came highly recommended by a friend of mine, was so sweet, she fixed my hair and was 100% professional -- she could have insulted the other salon I had gone to, but she didn't, she just focused on giving me an amazing haircut (for less than $125 too!). Elena has given me great haircuts and highlights ever since (2 years). I have even recommended this place to a few friends, and they've had great results.

I've always found the rest of the salon very clean and the rest of the staff very nice. It's a fairly small space and I generally spend 2+ hours there on a Saturday when I'm getting a cut and highlights so I think I get a pretty good perspective on the salon. I've never noticed anyone being anything but professional and friendly. I always feel welcome here

I am a very simple girl. I dont like to spend a lot of time getting ready, doing my hair, make-up, worrying about my wardrobe, i simply work too hard in a tiny little office where I hardly see anyone, so it doesnt really matter. I went to Timothy John's because of the good reviews here, and because the price seemed reasonable. Feliciano did my hair, and for the first time in my life, I felt glamorous. He gave me a beautiful haircut, but he also took the time to explain a few products, how to use them, and how to style my hair at home. All simple techniques that make my simple self look amazing with not a lot of effort. Thank you Feliciano for taking the time to really help this simple girl.

I've been seeing Elena for my hilights color and this last time was the best it's been. She also has a very comforting and calm presence. I am happy to recommend her.
I am sad to see the owner speaking poorly his former staff. It might not be any of my business, but I've been attending this salon for some time and I don't ever recall anyone being negative. I think it's bad business to speak so poorly of young people who are trying to make a living and who worked hard to make money for your business. As a concerned client I would ask the owner to be careful about his own negative attitude.
Otherwise, I think Elena is the best part of the salon and I hope you treat her well.

I have been a client of Timothy Johns Salon for about 4 years now. I am a person who loves changing my hair a lot!!! Timothy John's staff has always been great to me, they have chopped my locks off, giving me sassy cuts to even elegant more feminine looks. I have had my hair colored from black, red, deep purple, and different shades of brown, to now blonde (which I love). Every request and change I have wanted, they have accommodated and made it look fierce! I don't stick to one stylist, I tend to float around the salon to whatever stylist is available to apply my color or finish up my cut. I trust everyone that works there knowing that they are all trained and experienced with all types of hair, color, and precision styles. Over the past four years I have not only noticed my hair change but so have the stylist. I have seen many come, go, and come back again. The staff currently there I would say is the best, and the strongest I have ever seen it. They are like a little family. Which is great to see in a work place (wish my work atmosphere was like that). Before coming to TJ's, my locks were fried and broken, and even after the constant changes I demand from them, Timothy Johns Salon has somehow made my hair healthy again (recommending different products and treatments to help sustain healthy/shiny hair). Thanks guys! I get so many compliments all the time!!! Last time I was in we even chatted about putting in extensions. Timothy recommended Feliciano (whom has been cutting my hair over the past year), and I have no doubt in my mind that its going to turn out fabulous! I look forward to going into that salon, and am always greeted with a smile. Thanks Timothy John and your staff for being the best! See you soon for those extensions. :)

I checked out city search to find a new salon after my favorite stylist left Timothy John's. I've continued going still because they have my color formula but the quality just isn't the same. I noticed some people asking where the stylists have gone. I hope this doesn't receive a nasty response from the owners but if anyone knows please post it.

I am a long time client of Timothy John's Salon. I was one of the first people through the door nearly eight years ago, and have been a loyal client since. I have watched Timothy bust his tail to make his place successful, filled with amazing stylists, amazing staff, and wonderful clients. I just read the review about turnover, and can tell you that Timothy John's is better off without most of the stylists that are gone. I visit the salon every month and have had my hair touched by nearly every stylist in his salon. I am a regular, recieving hugs and kisses from everyone, except for a few( thank god they are gone)! When one of them goes, it is normally the best thing for the salon. My last two visits have been some of the best in years. The mood is light and the energy is clean of any negativity. I trust Timothy and his judgement of character, and when a stylist leaves, it has been because they were most likely unable to keep up to the high standards that has made his salon a success. I always look forward to my time at the salon, especially now that some of the negative riff raff have gone. Dont listen to the garbage talk most likley posted by angry ex-employees. Visit Timothy John's, and you will be greeted with a smile, treated like a real person, and leave looking wonderful and feeling like you have a lovely extended family.

I used to love to go to this salon, but since so many people have left it's just not the same. I would really like to say that it's just as great as it used to be but I suppose all things must change. Whereas I used to be gauranteed a great service, now I'm not sure how it will turn out. Sometimes good sometimes not. Unfortunately, I can't take those chances with my hair. It's been a good run.

Looking for a great stylist in New York is hard to find, but I have found him! I got my haircut from Feliciano and he is awesome. At first they said he was a junior stylist and I was skeptical. Not anymore! The staff is great and the salon is so cute and intimate. I asked for something chic but won't make me look like I'm trying too hard or make me look older. He listened closely to what I wanted with my hair and we worked out a good compromise. He explained what he was going to do and made sure I was comfortable. Not only he gave me the best haircut I've ever had but he showed me different ways how to style it at home. Everyone is commenting on my hair! Thank you Timothy Johns for having Feliciano and I will be back!

It took me a while to get to this salon and I was so excited to get my hair done by the stylists who were recommended. But when I called I was told that none of them work there anymore. Where did their top stylists go? I relented and saw Feliciano. I was a little less than thrilled with the results. When I returned from the appointment my friends informed me that he is a junior stylist. Apparently everyone but Timothy is a junior stylist. Again, where did everyone go? And why are they passing off people with very little experience as top stylists?

I just had my hair cut and highlighted by Elena, and she is.....should I say great! Its been a long time since my hair looked and felt so wonderful. The color is a perfect mix of blond, caramel, and lt brown, and she gave me a great haircut. I wanted to keep my hair long, but wanted it to look fun, she did it...long and fun! She also introduced me to a product called Moroccan Oil. She described it as a dry oil that I can use before and after I blow-dry my hair. Im in heaven. Elena is Great! Ill be back!

I am usually on a budget and thought, let me splurge on a haircut for once. This was my first time at the salon and I liked the atmosphere, all the stylists appeared friendly and relaxed, and the salon itself was cute. I was not pleased with my haircut and I feel that I was clear about the style that I wanted. I had asked for more volume, and did get this on top of my head and didn't understand why the bottom part had been thinned out. I thought it would look better after a few days but this is not the case. The stylist was professional and polite, however, was a bit rough with my head (when moving it forward and backward, and combing it, etc.) In the past, I got more compliments about haircuts I had gotten from my previous salon which charged half of what I paid for. I wish I would have had a better experience, because I do like the salon and the ambiance. I won't be returning for the above reasons, and am glad that I checked it out.

I have seen salons come and go in Midtown, and I know why Timothy John's is here. He is simply the best in NYC. I am a salon hopper, looking for the best stylist. I have spent hundreds of dollars on a haircut to under 50. Price doesnt matter, I simply want my hair to look the best it can. Having met many owners of Salons, I know they can be less than welcoming, but Timothy is a young, fun, charming person, with a welcoming smile and friendly disposition. Besides that, he gave me the best haircut i have ever had in NYC. We had great conversation, and when I realized that the haircut and blowdry style was only 85.00, I felt like I had pulled the wool over someones eyes, and walked out without paying the full bill. The salon is cute, and it looked like everyone was getting some fabulous hair. I dont think I will be salon hopping anymore. Thank you Timothy!

Believe what they say....This place is great. I went to Timothy John's yesterday because of all the great reviews, and believe what they say....the salon is great. I was looking for a talented stylist who would listen to what I wanted, and guide me towards something that was fashionable, but functional and definately not hi-maintenance! I went to Elena, and she took my plain brown hair, and gave me amazing dark blonde highlights with a few pieces of red for fun. Then she gave me a great long layered cut....exactly what I asked for, but far more fashionable than I ever could have imagined. Thanks Elena!

A few thoughts. This is neither recommend nor not recommend. I've been coming here a while but am looking for a new place.

1. There seems to be a lot of turnover here. And no one explains where your stylist went.

2. I don't think Timothy is particularly friendly to customers even though he owns the place. He seems slightly annoyed most of the time. Maybe something else is going on here. Maybe that's why stylists left.

3. My cut and color does not have to take as long as it does but stylists fit other customers in between as if I've got nothing to do but wait around. Most places fit a quick haircut in while your coloring is setting but this seems to be a very long time for it.

Looking for a new place.

I recently moved to NYC and have been holding off getting my hair done for fear of the worst. I read a million reviews here, and decided to go to Timothy John's. Lauren was my stylist, and she is better than I could have ever imagined. She and I discussed what color would be a lot of fun, yet still ok for my corporate job, and decided that we would go for a fun layered bob (Not the posh spice one either). Because I have so many different colors going on with my hair, Lauren asked Timothy the owner for his opinion. He graciously came over, and we all decided on highlights with some copper for sass. Lauren ROCKED my color and the haircut is....Awesome! My girlfriends at work freaked, and two of them made appointments the same day. Thank You Lauren and Timothy....I cant wait to come back.

I have been a client of Timothy John's for about 5 years. Unfortunately I have seen a few stylists come and go, and recently one of my favorites decided to go. I had an appointment for highlights and a haircut scheduled, and when the receptionist called me to let me know, she suggested I see Feliciano! I was devistated. She assured me that I would be in very capable and wonderful hands, so I reluctantly said....what the heck. He is AMAZING!!! Feliciano listened intently on what I wanted to do. He assessed what I have had done in the past, and he suggested color that would pop for the summer! I walked out feeling better than I ever have. Plus he gave me the best blow-dry I have ever had. Everyone is commenting on my hair. Thank you Feliciano, and Timothy John's for taking care of me. Your Amazing!!

I picked Timothy John's Salon for a few simple reasons:
1. It's close to my office (Midtown West) - just two short blocks from Broadway - but tucked away enough that you'd miss it if you weren't looking for it.
2. It was affordable - a men's haircut was $45 and I used a first timer's coupon for an add'l 20% off. They also offer future discounts for referring friends and family.
3. It was Village stylish but in the heart of Midtown West/Hell's Kitchen.
4. The staff was very accommodating over the phone, explaining the pricing structure and making it very easy to make an appointment.
I would pick the Timothy John's Salon again, for ONE very good reason:
They just know how to cut hair, which sad to say, many "chains' and other saolns in NYC just do not know how to do. I honestly felt like I was getting away with something when I left and only paid $42 total (with tip) for one of the best haircuts I've ever received in my adult life.
The space is small and funky with great music choices (it was '80's new wave day when I went, which was awesome) and there's no hard pitches for products or styles like in some chain salons.
My stylist, Lauren - who was one of the nicest and most easy-to-talk-to people I've ever had cut my hair - took her time, didn't go right to the clippers (a HUGE plus for me) and too the time to ask me what I was looking to do. She wasn't in a rush and was careful while being efficient.
I know it sounds a bit overdramatic, but honestly, I would recommend this place to any guy who sweats over their hair like I do - the staff makes it easy to relax, they do great work and it's at a reasonable price. What else could you want?

I have been going to Timothy John's Salon for almost two years now and have had the pleasure of having Amy as my stylist. From the beginning she has been nothing but patient and attentive to my needs, as I can be a pretty picky and when it comes to my hair. She really takes the time to listen to what I want and makes suggestions of what would look best for my face and hair type . A few months ago I decided to chop my hair off which was a VERY BIG deal for me.. after showing her some pictures and discussing with her what I had in mind she gave me the exact cut I had in mind! I absolutely love it and get compliments on it all the time, it's such a great cut that I don't think I will go long again- thanks Amy!

I literally just returned from getting a much needed haircut from Dawn. I can't believe this salon exists. Everyone was truly nice and friendly as well as very professional. This is the first time I can honestly say that I am 100% thrilled with my haircut. Dawn really knows her stuff and she listened to what I wanted and gave advice. My hair is just awful but she knew exactly what to do. I've been back about a half hour and 6 co-workers have complimented my new look. Now, I know scissors aren't a magic wand, but in Dawn's hands, they must be, as she totally transformed me. She also recommended products to use to maintain my hair without any pressure and made suggestions. She also showed me what to do at home when styling it. I could not have asked for a better client experience. Although you can't put a price tag on customer service, my hair style plus the products cost 50% less than what I pay in NJ. I had to mention that as icing on the cake. Thank you Dawn and Timothy John's. See you soon!

I entered the salon with over dyed--made me unhappy and feel/look older hair--that I had been torturing at another salon...and exited with happy, healthy, color I ADORE hair.

Feliciano was amazing--He was faced with a Herculean task (I have masses, and masses, of course/dry hair that swallows color like a sponge)..and he consulted with Timothy and the rest of the fabulous team to come up with a strategy (it sounded like my 11th grade chemistry class) that would both lift the awfulness without damage--and then custom create a color that would make me feel ( and I must say LOOK!) fabulous...

The staff is wonderful, the vibe relaxed..and I highly recommend this salon.

I heard about Timothy John's on Citysearch sometime last year. The comments were positive...and they were absolutely right!!! This place is amazing. As a college student, I was looking for a place that wasn't too expensive. A basic cut/style is about $65, which is GREAT for Manhattan!! Elena does my hair, and everytime I walk out feeling like a million bucks. They train their staff well. Everyone is incredibly friendly...you don't want to leave! I recruited 3 of my friends to get their hair done at Timothy John's. I live in CT permanently and the Bronx P/T -- the commute is rough, but WORTH IT!!!!

Thank you Timothy John's for living up to your reviews. I always wonder if these are real, and they totally are! I went to Timothy John's last week for hightlites and a haircut. From the moment I walked in the door, I knew that I was in a good place. The receptionist was very nice and helpful, and there was an energy in the place that was electric. People were laughing, talking, reading magazines. My stylist Dawn, listened intently to what I was hoping for, and she gave me her professional opinion, and in the end I felt like we were exactly on the same page. I walked out of the salon feeling refreshed, beautiful, and completely satisfied. And my hair looks georgeous too! Timothy was working right next to us, and he very cute and funny. No wonder his salon is great. Anyway, believe it! Timothy John's is the place to go.

I was a first time customer to this hip midtown salon. A friend recommended the place to me. Feliciano gave me a wonderful haircut. He was attentive to my needs and really shaped my hair up. I met Timothy who owns the salon and he was very nice. The gentleman at the desk, David, was terrific and gave me a great sample of an amazing hair oil. The salon is chic and hip without trying too hard. They have great decorative mirrors at each station. The atmosphere is relaxed and the prices are really reasonable for the cut and for the location. I am defiinitely going back to this salon as soon as I need a trim.

Moving to NYC is daunting enough without worrying about where you're gonna get your haircut. After scouring the net for salons that might be a good fit, I found Timothy and I'm so glad I did! My sister is a stylist and has been doing my hair for years but Timothy immediately made me feel comfortable and was very attentive yet relaxed. He understood how my hair would lay if cut a certain way without me having to explain and took the time to experiment with my look to get it how I liked. The salon itself is also super cozy and has a warm character. Everyone smiles and it all adds to the open inviting environment unlike the "name" salons where it can be a bit cold. I'm looking forward to going back and highly recommend!

My last hair stylist was my friend and he became too unprofessional and expensive, so I decided to go on city search to find a Salon in my neighborhood. I saw all the great reviews for TJS and decided to book an appointment. I've been going to my last hair stylist for 3 years so it was a bit scary to have someone new cut my hair. I read some good reviews about Feliciano plus he was recommended to me if i wanted an edgy hair cut. So I booked it with Feliciano. The reviews were right! He really was great!! I really like my hair cut and all my friends notice my hair that day especially my boyfriend. This place is affordable and the staffs are friendly. I am definitely coming back and will recommend it to my friends .

I moved to NYC from DC a little over a year ago. For the first few months I was here, I traveled back to DC just to get my hair done. (If you're looking for someone in DC, email me... I know JUST the guy!). But that got expensive. So I went to a place on the UES that got pretty good reviews, and was recommended by a friend. I liked the color the first day, but after a month, I already looked like I needed a touch up. The color was too light and I was really unhappy at the flatness of my cut. So I looked for a place in City Search with good reviews, and found Timothy John's. I booked an appointment with Dawn, and went in with low expectations. But I felt immediately at ease. Dawn LISTENED to what I wanted. She took my coloring and preferences into consideration, and I absolutely love the way it turned out. So Dawn, thank you. Now instead of having to travel all the way to DC, all I have to do is go around the corner!

This is my second time going to Timothy Johns, and it is just as the reviews describe. First I had Kathy and she was good. This past saturday I had Elena and she new exactly what to do with my limp dull hair and made me look Vibrant and feeling Great! After a long hard year of Breast cancer diagnosis and surgeries i needed something to boost my spirits and feel attractive again , she accomplished this for me. I have to say that this was my first time going to a salon after years of getting my hair cut at Barber shops. After today's experience, I have found myself a new place! I was really nervous going to a salon but I needed someone to fix what a barber had done to my hair a few weeks ago (It wasn't pretty). Being a guy, I wasn't sure if I was going to fit into the salon setting but the staff was extremely nice and helpful. I had my hair cut by Feliciano and he did a great job. He explained what he was going to do and was constantly making sure that I was happy with it along the way. He took the time to show me how to style it and what products to use. He also answered my crazy questions about what the chairs in the corners with the lights on it were (yeah, they were hair dryers...it's ok, feel free to laugh at me!) Timothy is the mailman because he totally delivers! I recently had my haircut and highlights done by him and I absolutely love it. For my highlights I didn't have a specific look in mind, so Timothy picked out the colors for me and it worked out SOOOO WELL. He really knows what works. I also referred my sister to him for her haircut and she is really happy with it, and it looks wonderful on her. We are definitely both going back in the future. After trying so many salons in the city, I finally found one that works for me! :)

i have been going to this salon for over 3 years, and i have never wanted to go anywhere else. it is a very friendly and relaxing environment. they make you feel at home the second you walk in the door. and the quality of the service is tremendous. whether it's a hair cut or coloring, you always come out looking fabulous. that's true with all of the stylists. i have had my hair cut by at least 3 of the stylists, and i have never disliked how it was cut. they are very good about talking with you first and discussing what you want. even as they are cutting, they check to make sure it is to your liking and are willing to make any changes. and when you're done, everyone compliments you on how great you look. granted, i'm sure that's part of promoting the biz, but they are always very genuine about it. for a new york salon, the pricing is very reasonable. overall, it is a very fun and comfortable environment, and you are always in good hands.

I have been a client at Timothy John's for over 4 years now, and all the Hype is true. My schedule is crazy and I tend to make appointments at the last minute. So I have seen almost every stylist in there. They are all amazing.....Really!!! It took me years to find a decent haircut in the city, and I know why....all the good stylists are a Timothy Johns. Believe the reviews- Timothy John's is fantastic.

My friend and I were both nervous about searching for a new salon in the city. We had both had a mixed bag of previous experiences ranging from mediocre to average. We found Timothy John's online, and after seeing the glowing reviews decided to try it out.

Both of us got appointments with DAWN and I can't write enough good things about this stylist. My previous haircut was completely straight and lacking any shape so I had asked Dawn to style it up as much as possible. She explained what sort of styles would work for me and what looks were complimentary to my face. I could see she took everything I said into consideration, truly listening to me and then put a lot of thought into how to achieve the best look for me.

I went to Timothy John's an indecisive customer hoping for some guidance in styling. Dawn was very vocal and opinionated about what would look best and thus exactly what I was looking for. She also advised me on what sort of products I should be using for my hair type (without being pushy about selling) and how to style my hair at home.

Both Dawn and the man behind the front desk were friendly and welcoming. The cut was probably about $20 more than I had been spending in the past, but the difference in quality was tremendous. Plus, first time customers can print out the 20% off coupon on the Citysearch site. I feel it was money more than well spent, and I can't wait for my next appointment! I'll be scheduling with Dawn, but the integrity of the place is such that I would be comfortable trying a new stylist as well.

All my life I have had one hair disaster after another. Every salon I ever went to told me I had difficult hair to work with. Somewhere along the way I guess I believed them. My hair has been a mess for a long time now, and I have been too afraid to go anywhere to do anything about it. Until a friend recommended a great salon in New York City to me. The only problem is that I live in Canada. To my surprise my friends planned a trip to New York for me, so I thought this could be my opportunity. I found this website, and did a little research about the salon. I liked what I read, so decided to take a chance. Small town girl lets loose in the big city. Thank goodnes I did. The salon is so cute and cozy. Inviting and relaxing. My hair stylist, Timothy John, made me feel at home. I felt safe and in capable hands. Because Timothy made me feel so comfortable, I decided to let him do whatever he thought would be best. I am so pleased with the results. The colour and style he did makes me feel so young and fresh. I couldn't be happier. I no longer feel like just a slouchy at home mom. I feel alive and vibrant again. My only negative is that they don't have a salon here in Canada. I'm going to work on that! My haircuts are about to get very costly, because I can't imagine going anywhere else and having any other stylist than Timothy John at Timothy John's Salon. My friends thank you, my husband thanks you, and I thank you. Here's to feeling "Human Again!"

Well I decided to go short with a haircut in Sept. and I love it but it requires maintainence and I can't get to my old hair stylist very easily (he's in Jersey) so I needed someone in the city...and that's not easy. I found Timothy John's salon right here on citysearch and saw that the reviews were good so i decided to give it a shot. At first I was a little peeved that I waited for a while to get my hair shampooed but that was only because i was in a bad mood...my stylist Feliciano did a quick, friendly consultation with me, my hair was washed and then I was sitting in his chair. He cut my hair in a way that showed that he was dedicated to giving it a good shape. He listened to what I wanted ( minimal upkeep, hip, but not too hip) and also added his own flair. At the end of the haircut a woman was walking by on the street, stopped and mouthed "you look beautiful!!" and then came into the shop and asked Feliciano how much he charged!! So needless to say I am going back (already booked my new appt.) and have already told people about how great the salon was, especially Feliciano!

I am by no means an old woman, but I had an old hairstyle, which made me look like an old woman. I asked Timothy for a change. There were a lot of young hip people at the salon, and I expressed that I didnt want to try to look like I was a young hot thing(i am not), but I wanted to look stylish. Timothy gave me a few options, and we decided together on a beautiful layered bob. He is so talented, and kind. Not only did he do a beautiful haircut, he helped me with styling products and detailed instructions on how to achieve the look at home. Eveyone in the salon looked wonderful. I never knew my hair could look this good. Amy made my thin hair look full. She said it was a combination of color & cut, I think she is a genius.
I didn't think I could get my hair to look as good as it did when I left TJ salon. It didn't look as good as when Amy did it, but it was close. I couldn't believe the compliments that I received. Not only did I walk out with fabulous hair, I walked out in a better mood then I walked in with. Amy was professional & funny. I am a client for life!!! THANK YOU AMY!!!!!!

So... I had a really great review here, but I've changed my mind. For the price, TJ's is an average place to go for a cut. It's a cute salon, the space is designed well for the size, and the lighting is good. The people are very nice as well. They use Redkin color, which is a very gentle and clean brand with vibrant and rich color and a nice conditioning quality. Overall though, these people are not the top hairstylists in the city. Now, I won't pay $300 for a cut and an additional $500 to $700 for color, but I will pay $25 more to get a superior cut and color elsewhere. The last two times I have been there I have had inadequate results. Part of the problem is that the salon stacks their appointments too close together and inside of each other which makes it even more difficult for young and more inexperienced stylists to focus. Problems with my last two appointments: 1) I went in for base color, partial highlights and a cut - base was good, highlights over processed and WAY too blond. I specifically asked for low-lights and was told highlights would be more "fun". So I compromised and asked for subtle, not chunky - I was streaked. The cut was average, but the right side grew out WAY uneven with the left in five weeks time. 2) Went in to cover the streaky highlights, was told to use a semi permanent color, picked a good blended color from the Redkin chart, turned out nearly three shades darker. While processing the stylist had another cut, he left my color on while finishing her. End result, damage. He rushed through my cut - a long straight bob - which wasn't what I asked for. It was uneven with no movement or texture. I have found a new person elsewhere - first cut with her and she said I had a terrible cut - I laughed knowingly as I've spent 45 minutes a day trying to make it look good for far too long. New cut - beautiful and the treatment was totally different. I'll never go back to TJs for mediocrity again.

I found the salon on Citysearch, and decided to try it out hoping for the best, but figuring that even if I came away with a bad haircut, I'll be disappointed but, 'it'll grow back'. Lucky for me, I got KATHY as my hair stylist and I left the salon BEAMING. She's patient, gives a great and honest consultation and is very obviously is serious about her profession!! I have already recommended the salon and specifically Kathy to my friends. You won't be disappointed either! :)

I went to Timothy John's Salon the other day, and really enjoyed my services there. It was very busy at night, but it still felt personal, and not like some of the factory salons I have been to. I was lucky enought to get in with Timothy at the last minute. He is great. He listens, and does exactly what he says he is going to do. I have very thick coarse hair, and he steered me away from a style I pulled from the magazines explaining the maintenance, and styling issues with that particular style. He was honest with me, and gave me a wonderful cut with great style that is manageable for me. Thank you Timothy.

You do realize, topdg, that they cannot legally charge your credit card anything just because you missed an appointment. A credit card can only be charged with a signature, and since you didn't give them one, you can contest it with your credit card company. It's only the people who don't contest it who get charged these "missed appointment" BS charges. Just contest it, they can't charge you anything without your written confirmation. Trust me, I'm a lawyer. And I've been to this salon, I know how horrid everyone there is. You didn't miss out on anything. They're catty and provide bad service. My hair is still fried from Amy and her shoddy work. You got lucky!!!!!!!!!

I have to concur with the reviewer below me. I had always used Kathy and while she was away this summer, I made an appt with Elena instead. SHE WAS AMAZING! I love the salon, but, I was neverous to try someone new, I mean it took me many years to find a stylist in NYC to begin with (had been taking Amtrak to my gal in Philly for 10 yrs now). The price cannot be beat and work is great.

So I read all the reviews and decided to call for an appointment with Amy which I can not write enough compliments in this review to do her or my new hair style justice. The salon in and of itself is adorable and very welcoming ,which we all know in NY is uncommon. I felt comfortable and confident in Amy's skills as soon as I saw the gorgeous color and cut leaving her chair when I arrived ....relieved!!!! Thank you Amy so much for listening to what I wanted and making suggestions and giving me the best color and cut,I have ever had not to mention the entertaining conversation. I will see you in six weeks. A little advice book in advanced had to wait a couple weeks due to my schedule needs but well worth it...

Elena saved my life!! I bought a box of color at Rite-Aid, and it looked like the perfect shade of strawberry blonde. It turned out to be the perfect shade of PINK!!! I had a wedding to attend two days after in which I was standing up as a bridesmaid. I couldnt possibly be up there with pink hair. I called Timothy John's, and Elena squeezed me in. She took me from pink, to the perfect strawberry that the box was supposed to give me. Afther the color, she fit a haircut in, and gave me this excellent deep conditioner by Morrocan Oil. It is fabulous. Needless to say the wedding went off without a hitch, and I looked amazing, and felt beautiful. Thank you Elena!!

i read all the reviews and decided to try this place out. i had an appt with elena (or elisa, i forget her name). anyway, i dont kno what happened but now theres one lock of my hair thats just sticking straight out and isnt calmed by any products. it;s all ridged weird on the bottom, like it was cut wrong or something. i had to go to another hair salon to get it fixed! she didnt really listen to what i had to say and cut my hair like it was on a center part even tho i use a side part. i was unhappy and would not return. the guy who answers the phone has an attitude too

I just got back from Timothy John's. It was my first time there and I must say I'm very happy about the results. I was a little nervous about getting a haircut considering I've had several bad outcomes before, but as soon as I walked in I calmed down. Everyone is so friendly and you don't get that attitude that you usually get from professional stylists in NYC. Feliciano did my hair and it came out exactly how I pictured it. He was really friendly and gave me great layers and bangs that gave my flat hair extra volume! I highly recommend this place for anyone wanting a professional haircut for reasonable prices.

Every time before that I'd been to this place, I've gotten great service, great hair. I don't know what happened, but things went downhill severely in the past couple months. I stopped going to Amy because she didn't do my layers like I wanted and I used Timothy instead. He wasn't available recently, so I said it'd be ok to go with Amy. it's not like she does horrible work or anything, it's just not the best. From the get go, she was in a bad mood. I said I wanted to keep my length the way it was, and she cut half my hair off! I had long hair so it made quite a difference. I haven't had a tomboy cut since I was 5 and I changed it because I want to look like the girl I am, not like a boy. I look hideous! I've never had such a bad cut. I don't know if she was mad because I'd stopped going to her and she knew it, but it was a horrible cut, WAY too short and choppy layers. She acted the whole time like she had better things to do and when I said goodbye to her, she was just said "whatever". Literally. I would've complained, but Timothy wasn't there and I didn't know if any of the others there were the next-in-charge. I'm going to come back, but only if I can get Timothy. Don't waste your time with Amy- you will cry with the results and be treated badly. I look like my hair was cut with those plastic kiddy scissors. I have never been so unhappy.

I've been to many hair salons, but the staff at Timothy John's were different. From the very start, I was treated like family. It was obvious that my Stylist, Amy, has a natural talent when it comes to handling people and this makes her exceed in her profession. I was nervous about changing my hair color, but Amy had enough confidence for both of us and my hair turned out wonderful. She was very hands-on and she didn't work with too many other clients during my visit (which drives many customers crazy). At the end of my apppointment, I gained 100% trust in Amy and I felt that my hair found a new home. I love my new color and I highly recommend Amy and Timothy John's Salon.

I went to Timothy John's hoping for a miracle. My hair was just BLAH and I really needed something new and fresh. Timothy was my stylist, and he is fabulous. He took extra time to discuss my cut and color, not only taking my face shape and coloring into consideration, but he also thought that my free-spirited personality needed a style to match! Awesome! I loved the result. When I went back to work, my co-workers were fawning over me. They just had to know where I had my hair done. The entire experience was just perfect and I can't wait for my next visit. Thanks for making me feel beautiful Timothy!

Timothy John's Salon is the best. I went to Timothy John's Salon recently and saw one of their Junior Stylists. Junior??? He was amazing. Feliciano did such a great job on my color and cut. The staff at Timothy John's has always encouraged clients to see another stylist if your stylist was busy. Well I never strayed, until I had to, And I am so glad I did. Fortunately for me one of the stylists left, which gave me the nerve to try Elena. She is amazing. She gave me the perfect short haircut. I will miss my old stylist, but sometimes change is good. I wish I would have listened before.

I am a doctor and don't have a lot of time to worry about my hair. Plus, my 1" short thick hair leaves little to be desired. This being my first time at an "upscale" salon I was skeptical about the possibility of anything new happening with this rug. Somehow Kathy worked a miracle and gave me a great shape. For the first time I feel like I actually have a style. I'm so glad my friends recommended this salon. I'll be back every 4 weeks.

Timothy John is the best. I read the reviews on this site, and decided with so many good ones, I would try it out. I havent had my hair done since I moved into the city, and it was a mop! A lot of people were hip and young there, I am not...hip...or young. He gave me an up to date, elegant, and manageable style. He is also a perfect gentleman. Try him out.

I tried another salon because I couldn't get in to see Kathy, but when I got one of the worst haircuts of my life I ran back to Timothy John's. I saw Elena and she saved my tortured locks!
Now that Kathy is back I'm so glad to have my stylist of 3 years back. But now I know that if I can't see her I'm safe in the hands of any of the stylists at the salon.

The day I signed my divorce papers I decided I needed to change a few other things in my life. The first was my hair. Amy at TMJ is the only stylist that has ever been completely honest with me. I wanted the Posh haircut. Amy explained to me why a variation on the cut would work for me. She was honest without being negative. I wasn't going to have my hair colored, but she suggested that highlights & lowlights would warm up my face & bring out my eyes. Not only was she right about that but everyone keeps asking me if I lost weight. She is a Goddess. Amy was a wonderful surprise at the end of a horrible week. THANK YOU AMY!!!!!!

I have to say it is one of the nicest experiences and I always look forward to going. They are so friendly with all of the clients and with eachother. They're obviously a tight knit group. Seriously, I walked into Timothy John's and was treated as if I have been there many times before. I am an actor on Broadway, and I am very particular with my cut. I audition for film and t.v., and have to look like my headshots. Amy did an awesome job. She was so funny, and charming. She walked me through styling and helped me with some shampoo. I love my haircut. It looks exactly like my shot, but better. I cant think of any other place I would rather hang out. They should have like haircut bar night. Thank you Amy...I will have to give you 10% if I book this next gig.

I have never written a review for anything before, but I have to tell you about my experience at Timothy John's. I had a drunken moment, and decided to color my own hair. I know Im not the only one. Anyway, I called Timothy John's after reading all of the great reviews, told them what I did, and without any judgement, they booked me in the next day. They told me they would make some calls and try to fit me in because I was having a huge event for work the next eve. They called back 10 min later and told me that one of their clients agreed to move so that I could be squeezed in. I was so happy. Feliciano with the help of one of the other girls took my hair from a crazy yellow orange to the beautiful caremel blond I was hoping for. Thank you thank you thank you thank you. Timothy John's went above and beyond to help someone out who they didnt even know. I will always come to Timothy John's, and I promise to stay away from the boxes!!!!

The staff seems really nice. They seem to cut good hair. They seem to also not want to show any interest in keeping the appointment. I showed up at my appointed time, and was promptly kept waiting for 15 mins. I feel that's a bit much, when they made such a big point of telling me ahead of time how crucial it was to be there on time and that time was THE only available time. Clearly, it wasn't so available.

An appointment at a hair salon? If I'm on time, the stylist should be too.

So if you have time to sit around all afternoon, by all means go for it, maybe they'll get to you eventually.

My mother, daughter and I recently took a short trip to NYC and one of the best parts of the trip was the fantastic highlights and cuts we got at Timothy's. Our appointment was set for 2 pm. When we got there, the place was devoid of customers and I got a little nervous. All three of us put our fates in our stylist's hands and asked them to use their professional judgement and give us a change. Within 15 minutes of starting, the place was packed with customers and my initial fears subsided. Elena did my hair and I love it! Efthemia took my daughter's locks from long to short (something I had suggested for years) and Sarah looks and feels very chic. My mom's hair was telling the damage of 20 years of home coloring. A junior stylist under the watchful eyes of Timothy transformed her hair. She is so happy with it that she is budgeting more for hair care and talking about giving up the home highlighting.

Timothy's was very accomodating. My mom had originally scheduled just a cut and style, but once there she wanted the works. They were able to squeeze her in by making a few adjustments.

I have been in New York for about a year and have tried a few other salons, been disappointed, and was needing to find a place I could count on to go and get great color and cuts! I found Timothy John's on Citysearch and decided to give it a try. I have definitley found my place! The atmosphere is unpretencious and welcoming and everyone who works there is very friendly. Timothy did a fantastic job! My hair was in some serious need of help! It had been a long time since it had been cut and my highlights had grown out substantially, and though I hate to admit it...there were several grays taking their place. I booked an appointment with Timothy for single process color, highlights, and a cut. When I booked the appointment, the receptionist told me the names of the stylists that were available for the day and time I wanted and was honest in telling me that a cut with Timothy was more expensive than with the other stylists (though it is still very reasonable). I have been to places that don't tell you that and appreciated her honesty. Timothy made me feel instantly at ease and discussed color options with me, but in a way that I understood. Most importantly, I LOVE my hair now! As Timothy was drying it and styling it, I couldn't keep my eyes off of it! He did a brilliant job on hair that needed some TLC. He told me the products he was using on my hair, but there was never any pressure to buy them, which I loved. I really don't like when salons try to push the products they sell on you! As I was waiting for my color to set, I was watching the other stations and everyone else was getting great styles and color as well, so I think that all of the stylists will do a great job, but I can only speak for my experience with Timothy. I have found my place in NYC will not be going anywhere else! Thanks Timothy!

I recently went to Timothy John's for my first NYC haircut. After traveling back to CT for two years because I was afraid to let anyone other than my first stylist touch my hair, I decided it was time to find a stylist in the city. I was very anxious about it, but in the end could not have been more pleased. Timothy did exactly what I asked and it came out great. The salon has a nice cozy feel and everyone I talked to was so nice. They clearly care about their customers and make an effort to make sure their clients are happy and look good. Now I have my NYC salon. :-)

Being from Wisconsin ,and wanting a "New York" kind of hair-do, it was suggested that I go to Timothy Johns Salon on 53rd Street. I was really very nervous, as this was quite the experience for me, visiting such a big city and getting my hair colored and cut. I am in my mid fifties and was worried that I would not fit in with all the "hip" New York people. Boy, was I wrong! I have never been treated more graciously or more professionally. That staff is straight out of a magazine. While you are being worked on (Timothy was my stylist) every person there concentrated on his or her own customer while engaging in conversation, and creating amazing looks for each person that had any sort of work done. Wow you should have seen the awesome cuts, styles and colors that I witnessesd!!! I felt that I belonged to a very elite club!!! Timothy decided that numerous color highlights would be just what I needed. He cut my hair, highlighted , blew my hair dry and when he was finished I felt like I had been on a reality show and had won a makeover.
Upon returning to Wisconsin, I have had numerous compliaments on my new look. I will definately visit the salon on my next trip. Just One Suggestion..........Open a shop in Wisconsin!!!!!! Thank you again

I went in for my haircut yesterday for the very first time. I am very particular on the way a stylist cuts my hair. Efthemia was excellent. She was a good listener, took off my dry ends, gave me a good style/haircut. I told her what I wanted, low/no maintenance, natural... and she produced it! It was a very good experience and affordable.

I have been going to Timothy John Salon for a few years now, aqnd I have to say it is one of the best salons in NYC. the atmosphere there is very relaxed, even when they are busy. I find myself getting there early for appointments just to sit and enjoy the vibe and read a magazine while i wait. The staff is relaxed and professional, and even though they may be coloring someone else's hair or checking on another client during my haircut, they are always repectful to introduce me to the person who might be washing my hair at the time. I have seen Efthemia, Timothy and Amy. All must be a little bit psychic, because I go in saying I want something short, or I might be growing my hair out for a change, they seem to know exactly what I am looking for in a new hair style. One of they biggest strengths is telling me what they recommend in light of the little direction I give. Also, if they use a new product on me, they tell me all about it and its pros and cons before they put it my hair. This even goes for the shampoo! And never any pressure to buy what they used. A few weeks ago, I was hosting a huge event and had to look great on stage. I scheduled my appointment with Efthemia, and although she was out sick (thy gave me the option of rescheduling with her later, but due to my schedule, I was unable to) Amy listened to my needs for the next night, gave me pointers on how to refresh the look later and gave me an amazing style. All that night I was being told how wonderful I looked, I am sure it was due to her genius. For my normal appointments with Efthemia, she is sure to give me something new and interesting. Every time I go there I am always amazed on their balance of seeing a lot of clients (there is someone in every chair when I go) and their personal attention to client's needs. On a scale of 1 to 10 you guys are a 12!

I've lived in NYC for 8 years now and have been to a few hair salons. This one is my favorite! I decided to try it because it received rave reviews on citysearch and down the block from me. I've been impressed since my first visit 2 yrs ago. The salon is small, inviting, comfortable and has such charm and great talent. The people are very friendly, including the owner Timothy John himself.

You get a great cut & color at such a reasonable price here. I am sure all the stylists are great, but I have been going to Efthemia since day 1 and she is amazing! She is a really cool gal with beautiful hair herself! I always trust her with my hair and she provides great consultation on what to do with my hair (cut & color) when I ask. And she spends the time to make sure it is perfect and never rushed. The end result is always fabulous. I highly recommend her and this salon overall. It's a great find!

I was browsing City Search to find a hair salon that is close to my work to get a haircut during my lunch hour. I picked this place because it is close, but I will definitely go back because the people are very nice and everyone there seems happy. Amy cut my hair, and she did exactly what I wanted ... even though I was only able to give her a vague idea and I brought a picture with me to help me with my inadequacy to be able to properly describe how I want my hair cut. I would definitely recommend this place to someone who doesn't want to spend $100 for a good hair cut.

I found timonthy john and amy on citysearch a few months ago and they're great. My most recent trip had amy take me from long blond hair to short and dark brown! It took 3 hours and came out GREAT!!! Amy helped me pick a color and talked about the different variations of the cut I wanted. I was really nervous and she put me at ease and it came out AMAZING!!!! I definately reccomend the salon. I'm new to the area and before my move I got the haircut from hell. I've been busy with work, and the new living situation, and hadn't had time to remedy the mess on my head until last night. I couldn't take it anymore so I literally started walking the streets near my new place looking for a salon. I stumpled in to Timothy John's Salon as they were just closing and the staff offered to take a look at my hair. Like I said, they we're closing so I started scheduling an appointment for later in the week when Timothy came up to me and told me he was staying late anyway and would fix my hair for me. This top notch professional took pitty on a ratty haired walk-in, and stayed late at the salon turning my awful hack job (with chunks of hair missing, totally unever layers, some weird mullet things doing on) into a neat, hip looking bob. Only a seriously talented professional could have salvaged my hair in this situation and I feel really lucky I found this salon. Maybe the initial hair cut was a blessing in disguise. It helped me try a new hair cut that I wouldn't have had the guts to try otherwise and it helped me find my new salon.

I just moved back to the east coast and it's been a few years since I was finally settled and could call a salon 'my own'. This could be my new 'home'. I found Timothy John Salon on citysearch and checked out their website which played a major factor into choosing to go there. I LOVED reading about each stylists because it's a reassurance that your going to get someone who's knowledgable and knows what they are doing. I was greeted with a warm friendly smile when I walked in and the salon has the cozy feeling. Amy was my stylists and it was great to finally have someone who is personable and knew exactly what I wanted plus had some great ideas for color. The scalp massage was soooo relaxing and a great way to start. Amy was very thorough and created a style that is easy for me. I liked how I wasn't afraid to tell her if I liked something or not. The entire staff was friendly and not snooty like some salons i've been too. The prices are great and I look forward to coming back for color! The location is also easy and convenient to my work! My only downside was that my appointment started 15 minutes late and I was on my lunch break so it made me late back to work BUT it was worth it! THANK YOU!!

The fabulous Timothy has been cutting my hair since he opened his salon 6 or 7 years ago, having been recommended by a good friend. I've been thanking that friend ever since and intend to thank her again after finally getting highlights from Timothy the other day. I'm giddy with the compliments I've been getting. I've been coloring my hair myself for many years, but have been doing a poor job of it now that I have a lot of gray. Timothy redid my color and I swear, it's taken years off me (I'm over 50) and looks completely natural. He explained exactly what he was going to do and let me know that with all the colors I had in my hair he'd probably only be able to accomplish 80% of the color correction. To my eye, and the eyes of the people who have been raving about my new look, he achieved 100%. The atmosphere in the salon is fun, young and down to earth - and that includes the clients as well as the staff. Many performers trust their look to Timothy and his wonderful colleagues, and what more of a recommendation could you ask for. Needless to say, Timothy will be doing my color now as well as my cut. If you want to look your very best, make an appointment. You won't be disappointed.

I just saw Amy last weekend and, like always, she gave me a gorgeous cut and color. I've received numerous compliments from friends (as well as strangers) since Saturday. I read the previous post and was pretty disappointed that someone was talkin' sm@ck about her! Amy is so sweet and it just doesn't seem like she would have that type of attitude towards a customer. While I was there, she kindly greeted every single person who walked in, was generally very talkative and friendly, and even gave me a hug when I left! It would be unfortunate for someone to read the previous post and opt to see another stylist or even worse go to another salon altogether just because of one person who had a bad experience. I have no ulterior motive in writing this (not related to anyone there or anything!)- just a very happy customer who wants to make sure I spread the good word :)

I was recommended to Elena through a colleague and have been going ever since to get my hair colored. She listens to what you want, recommends / suggests when appropriate and at the end, does fantastic highlights! I am a licensed beautician, although I have not practiced in a salon in a few years, and I can be very picky when it comes to my color. I've never been disappointed with my blonde highlights - great coverage and a lovely color. I'd recommend her 100 %. The only semi-negative point has nothing to do with her but with their policy and price; policy: if you cancel within 24 hours, you are charged a lot of money (I think its close to 1/2 the service cost); price: I find their highlights on the pricier side.

Everyone was very welcoming at this unassuming salon. The atmosphere is cozy with a neighborhood feel, which attracts a diverse mix of friendly people (you can tell there are a lot of regulars!) The massage with the shampoo was so relaxing and is just one example of how the salon goes out of its way to make their clients happy! The prices are affordable and even the products were reasonably priced. I will definately be coming back for my next cut! ~ JoAnna

I went to Efthemia on 3/19 and I was given one of the best cuts I have EVER received. She did exactly what I asked her to do and gave helpful suggestions and feedback on what would be best for my hair. I am very happy with my cut. The prices at this place are also a bargain for the quality and atmosphere! Great music playing! The whole experience was wonderful from the moment I walked through the door! I'm so so happy I found this place!

I had a HORRIBLE experience here. I went in yesterday asking Efthemia for a professional look that is modern and edgy, as I am starting a new job on Monday. I was very specific with how I wanted my bangs to be: slightly shorter on one side and left longer on the other, to be swept to the side. I asked her if she understood, and she repeated it back to me. She cut my bangs extremely short across the whole forehead. It is NOT a professional look. When she was through, I said that this wasn't what I asked for, and couldn't she do anything to fix it, as I'm on the verge of tears. Instead of showing any sign of concern, she said, "I've never had anyone cry in 9 years." I understand that these things happen, and I'm sure she thought she was doing what I asked, but there is a better response for situations like these.

I went back in today to speak with the owner, who accused me of miscommunicating, and then said, "We are done here. I don't want to look at you. Leave and never come back." WHAT?? I have never received such nasty service. I was being very reasonable. I never raised my voice. I was fair in saying that I'm not blaming anyone, but this isn't what I asked for. I was merely speaking up for my unsatisfactory cut, and the best suggestion anyone had was "it will grow." While that is true, I'm starting a new job in 3 DAYS feeling very UNHAPPY with my cut. There was no offer to compensate me for my bad experience, nor was there an apology. I AM APPALLED.

I noticed that the owner is very fond of rebutting reviews, especially the bad ones. I also noticed that he encouraged one reviewer to speak up before leaving the salon, but I don't see how one can win here regardless. THIS SALON IS A LOSE-LOSE SITUATION.

I will say that both receptionists were very polite, but I cannot say the same for anyone else. I highly recommend the owner and stylists take a course in customer service, as this will be an excellent investment for your business.

I just moved to New York City about three months ago and was panicking at the thought of finding someone that understood my very curly hair. I looked it up on Citysearch and saw all the great reviews so I made an appointment. Amy took care of me and after some discussion about my hair history, we decided to start with an anit-frizz treatment and cut. She is amazing! She took her time and really knew how to deal with my hair. The cut is awesome and she blowdried my hair super straight. I definitely highly recommend this place for the service, the ambiance, and talented stylists!

My first grey hair sent me into action? highlights! That was the solution. I had no idea what was involved, simply that all my friends were doing it, so how complicated could it be? That was my first mistake. I then went to a pretty reputable hair place on the upper west side and my stylist assured me that she knew what to do. I don?t think she actually did. When it was over, my hair was streaked with brilliant shades of ORANGE. Making the assumption that she knew what she was in fact doing was my second mistake. Coincidentally, while I was getting my highlights (in a color very similar to my 2 yr old nephew?s OskKosh B-Gosh t-shirt), I had picked up a magazine and started to read along. Fortunately it was magazine for stylists. I literally stumbled upon an article about a great new place in midtown, Timothy John?s. Before leaving the UWS salon with my now orange hair, I discretely ripped out the article from the magazine. To make a long, embarrassing story short, I made an appointment with Timothy and he literally performed a miracle. I now had great highlights and by the way, a great haircut. That was a couple of years ago and I?ve been going to his salon every 6 or 8 wks or so, since then. I?ve read a few of the other reviews on here, ones like?Timothy John?s Rocks, Timothy is a color genius? and I couldn?t agree more. Simply put, he?s extremely talented and professional. No orange hair ever again!

This is now the only place I will go to get my haircut. Having very curly hair, I used to tell myself "well, at least it will grow out in a few weeks" everytime I left a salon. Not at Timothy John's... Everytime I come in, I end up getting a haircut I never would have thought of and it looks great that day, the next day, and weeks later.

For me, that's because of Elena. She is a natural. If you can cut curly hair and do it well, you can cut any kind of hair. I know she has a lot of fans at the salon, so I know she cuts more than curly hair well. She is a natural: intuitive, receptive, and able to "wing it" when you are just not sure what you want. What a superstar. And, she's really sweet and fun to talk with.

But, really if you can't get a cut from Elena or Timothy John, anyone in this place is great! Timothy John only hires the best. Not only is everyone extremely talented, they are also really nice and relaxed. You never feel like you are in a stuffy, snooty salon. All the staff are friendly, and after you come in once they'll remember you the next time...

Seriously, there is no other place in all of Manhattan where you can get this great of a haircut/styling/treatment for anywhere near this kind of price. Go there now before they wake up and realize they could be charging twice as much and everyone would still come and get their haircut!!!

I can't recommend it more highly!

Pros: Best haircuts, extremely inexpensive, Friendly staff
Cons: Only one location! Can sometimes book up quickly...

Simply put, a visit to this salon is never a disappointment. A big reason for that is Amy. She simply rocks at what she does. I went here after reading the zillion or so great reviews on citysearch, after a lifetime of just-ok haircuts and a general resignation to the fact that my hair would forever remain the way they were and no hair stylist or product on earth could help. I ended up getting an amazing cut - although I asked Amy for something very low maintenance, she gave me exactly that and more, a cut that looked freshly done even 2 months later.... she proved that a low-maintenance cut doesn't necessarily have to mean "ordinary"... in fact, the numerous compliments I got actually motivated me to keep my hair looking great. She also introduced me to a line of hair products that works wonders for my very difficult, frizzy hair - something i never thought was possible. But there's no sales pressure. I totally trust Amy with my hair now, so much so that the next time I went in, I got her to give me bangs!! And I am so happy with them. The salon itself is upbeat but not loud, the staff are all great, very friendly, prices are very reaosnable compared to many other upscale manhattan salons. I would highly recommend this salon to anyone

Timothy John is a great stylist with an easy going attitude. Having moved to NYC from Canada recently I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to find a good mens haircut at a reasonable price. TJ has met all my expectations. The staff is friendly; it's clean and comfortable and I've never had to wait more than a few minutes for my haircut. I would highly reccomend this place.

One of the best places I've gone to get a haircut. I really wasn't sure what style would look good on me, so I just said what I don't want and I got one of the nicest haircuts I've had in a long time. I went to Timothy John's Salon recently, and had a great experience. The salon is quaint but the place is hopping. There were people in every chair. I was worried that I would be lost in the shuffle, but I wasn't. I was welcomed by the receptionist as I walked into the salon, and told that I would be seen momentarily. I have been to many salons in the city, and most of them ran late, but I only had to wait a few moments before I was seen. I was given an excellent haircut by Efthemia. She is hip and cool, and easy to talk to. She also gave me the haircut that I asked for. This salon is a treasure, and I would recomend it to anyone.

I went to Timothy John's Salon for the first time late last week and was pretty disappointed. I read all the rave reviews on Citysearch and had high hopes, but ended up waiting 30 minutes for my appointment, getting probably the worst haircut and blowdry of my life, and getting looked at by some of the people who worked there like I was some kind of outsider - this was odd - it felt like I needed to have a secret password to be part of their club or something. I saw a lot of other people leaving there with beautiful haircuts, it's too bad my experience there was what it was, and I hate to write a bad review, especially since the owner seems to get so angry and defensive when he reads them, but when you have a new client wait 30 minutes for a bad haircut during which the stylist walks away to work on other clients without even saying anything, you ought to do more than just yell back at the client. I'm sure that this salon is great for a lot of other people, I am just not one of them unfortunately.

that I finally found a stylist/coloris with integrity. I went to two of the most "glamorous" salons in NYC when I moved here and both screwed up my hair. I ended up with orange painted streaks on one occasion and the other was not any better but they amanged to razor the hell out of my curly hair. My friends at work told me to go to Timothy John. Not only did he ask me to come in for a consult on his time, WOW, he was so paitent and deliberate with me I was put at ease. My cut and color turned out amazing! I haven't been happier! Great little salon with skilled cutters and a very pleasant team. Always a pleasant experience and always on time (which few salons are). I've been using them for 4 years now and have had my hair cut at places from Bumble on down and really enjoy this salon. If you want people to fuss over you as if you were the Queen of Sheba, go somewhere else, but if you want a salon where they listen to you and aim to please you (not their idea of a great cut) then you'll be as happy a customer as I.

So, I found out that my hair stylist had quit his salon and a minute later I'm frantically pouring through Citysearch reviews, trying to find someone new. Timothy John had by far the most (and the most positive) reviews, plus it was only 3 blocks from work. I called in the morning, trying to get something that day, thinking it was impossible, but the friendly receptionist squeezed me in during my lunch hour, which I really appreciated. I arrived with the same nervous energy I have whenever someone new cuts my hair, but I was immediately put at ease with Amy. She knew what I wanted and went straight to work. I have to say: I've been getting basically the same haircut for the past 10 years, and it has never looked as good as when Amy cut it. I didn't have to get used to it or wait until it grew in a little to really like it. I loved it from the moment I got up from the chair. Amy is great, the salon is friendly and neighborhood-y, and I'll surely be going back soon.

I found Timothy John's through City Search and based on reviews and what I was looking to have done, I decided to book my first appoint with Efthemia. I had color and cut done and it came out great! She really took her time with my hair and was very fun to talk to. Getting your hair done for most of us women and men is a treat and when you pay good money to get it done, you expect the attention to be all on you. This is the exact experience I had. I HIGHLY recommend Efthemia, but I'm sure you'll get the same experience with the others. Oh and price was not too bad :-) My second appointment with her is today!

I absolutely adore Timothy John. He's great with everything - cuts, color and most recently for me extensions! On the rare occasion when I've gone somewhere else (because I've been out of town or out of my mind), he's saved my hair from horrible mistakes (color gone wrong and jagged looking cuts). Currently I have my 2nd set of extensions from him. I get so many compliments on how great I look and no one suspects for a second that its not all my hair. He's reasonably priced and has a fantastic staff too! Go see him, quick before someone else screws up your do.

I chose Timothy Johns after wanting to find something close to home and reading so many great reviews on the site. Made an appointment with Elena to "clean up" my short hair, which had been growing out for several months and had gotten pretty unruly and had some pretty sizable flaws from the previous cut. I didn't know what to expect; my hair hadn't been that "long" for years, and I haven't usually been 100% pleased with past results at other places for quite some time. However, after telling her what I wanted, Elena identified the trouble spots right away (without me needing to tell her), and proceeded to give me a cut that ended up being the perfect shape, just the right length, and naturally accentuates the good qualities of my hair type....I hardly have to do anything to it and it just looks great! I learned Elena came to the city from one of Timothy Johns' other locations - I hope we get to keep her here - going by what she did for me she's seems to be a natural at what she does...thanks Elena!

Efthemia at Timothy John's has cut my hair for about a year now. She's quick, thorough, skilled and charming. The place is cute and trendy without being snotty (trendy as in stylish, NOT overly sleek, cold, stark). Everyone who works there is pleasant and experienced.
It's the kind of place where a guy can get a haircut with out feeling prissy, but if he wants high lights no one will bat an eye. Go there, be pretty.

after reading all the reviews for this place i decided to try and get an appointment for later in the week. to my suprise and happiness they had one for 15 mins after my work day ends and is only about a ten minute walk away.
it was my first time in the salon and everyone was very friendly (and let me eat my salad while i waited).
amy did my hair she did a great job, took her time and i absolutley love it. she also took some time at the end to help me with my hair for my halloween costume.
the price was very reasonable, especially for the quality of work and for manhattan. i will definatley be coming back.

I was greeted promplty at the front by Amy, and she took me to her chair for a consultation. We had a lengthy discusssion, and decided together what would be best for me. This was the best cut and color I have ever recieved and I have tried many, including a few of the very high end snotty salons in NYC. Kathy totally listened to what I wanted for my hair and did exactly that. And I am very picky about my hair. She was also just a generally fun person, as were the rest of the "crew" there...it's obvious they work well together. It was a really fun and calming atmosphere...literally the most enjoyable, relaxing, best hair experience I have had. Plus, the prices were right. I just logged on to review my experience last night and noticed the scathing review that is posted. My personal experience must have been the exact opposite, because it was truly wonderful from the moment I walked into the salon. The salon is cozy and clean, and the receptionist was so sweet. I walked into the salon feeling less than attractive and walked out feeling like a million dollars. I went to Timothy John's because my friend(the friend who always looks fabulous) told me about it. I have been coloring my hair with the box, and it is never what the box says it is going to be. Kathy came to the rescue! She changed me from a greenish blond to a beautiful warm brunette with honey highlights.... I cant stop looking at myself. I know my color wasnt good, but she never made me feel bad about by kitchen job. She only made me feel comfortable about where we were going. On top of it all Kathy and the front desk girl stayed late...for me. Thank you!!!

Don't trust these gimmicky salons in NYC... timothy john salon is a consistant and amazing place to get your hair done. I recently had my hair colored by Kathy and it looks amazing. She really knows how to do blondes. I was so happy with the results, two of my friends have made future appointments. Everybody is friendly and responsive....and it doesn't drain your wallet. :)

I recently had an appointment with Amy, and I was beyond satisfied with my cut! She really listened to what I wanted and felt my hair before washing it to make sure that the cut she had in mind for me would work - which I think is the sign that your stylist knows what he/she is doing. The cut took a little longer than usual, but that was because Amy went through every strand of my hair to make sure that it was perfect. I was also greeted by a very friendly woman at the front desk when I checked in, and they always addressed me by my first name, which made me feel really comfortable, as opposed to other high-end salons that treat you like a number rather than a person. The style ended up being exactly what I wanted and what we discussed, and my friends and family keep saying that it's the best hairstyle I've ever had. Not to mention that the price was equal or LESS to what I had paid in the past for worse haircuts. I highly recommend Timothy John's!

Went in for color and cut with Kathy. I had previously been to Louis Licari and John Barrett and Kathy did a better job than anyone I had ever been to at any of those places. I'm not sure if I even explained what I wanted very well, but she somehow just instincively knew what i meant and took her time and put a lot of thought into getting my color just so. I was beyond thrilled! I work at a fashion magazine and Monday moring everyone was ooing and aaahing saying how great my hair looked and dying to know where I went to get it done. Everyone there was super friendly and it was a very relaxing atmosphere. The best salon experience I've ever had in this city and I've been here for 6 years! Kathy knows what she's doing! When I stopped in to make my appointment, I met with Timothy himself and was very impressed with the level of customer service I received right off the bat. I requested Amy and was given an appointment with her for the next week. She was so nice and listened to exactly what I wanted. I love the cut I got and am definitely choosing this salon as MY salon. I was sick of stylist-hopping! The only con was the bad attitude from the front desk girl/shampoo girl. She ignored me when I got there because she was chatting on the phone to her friend and then seemed to think it was my fault that I wanted some service!

Well I found him. Timothy John is amazing. His staff greeted me with a smile(which we all know doesnt happen that often in NYC), and treated me as if we had been friends forever. Timothy was running right on time and we discussed what direction I wanted to go with my haircut. I think he knew my trepidations as this was my first haircut with anyone different in years, but he talked me through a few options and we were off. I was instantly at ease, and my haircut is superb. My partner and I went to Timothy John's Salon after losing our hairstylist to California. We have several friends that have been pushing us try them so...we did! They are great! Our old stylist gave us the same haircuts, but we left Timothy John's with our own look. We loved the attention we received, and will definately return.

1 Stars: Kicked Out Into the Pouring Rain for Speaking Up (by citysrchr06)

Conflict resolution is often difficult for most people, but I am an advocate of consumer rights and speaking up when you feel something is not right. I also understand from a business perspective that it is important to be able to defend the establishment and be heard as well.

I went to Timothy John for a non-dramatically different haircut after seeing the rave reviews here on Citysearch. No lofty or unreal miracle expectations - only to be treated as a valued customer and have my hair cut well. I paid for my thirty-minute haircut (the thirty minutes included consultation and shampoo), even though I had to ask for her to balance the front of my hair, which she admitted was not balanced, a blowdry and to see the back of my hair when the stylist felt she was finished.

When I quietly and calmly approached the owner to let him know that I had concerns about the experience I had at his salon, I was met with a defensive and non-listening business owner. I did not raise my voice, nor make demands. Instead I was accused of being accusatory and inarticulate. I told the owner that I understand that as the owner he is defending his employee, but reminded him that I am his customer and felt an apology was in order. At this point, I felt an apology was in order for being treated so poorly by him in this discussion (something along the lines of, "I don't agree, but I'm sorry you feel this way." would have been a step in the right direction)

Instead, he responded by telling me he is "done with this," and told me to leave. I was kicked out of the salon and into the torrential downpour for speaking up. Defending a policy or refuting a complaint is one thing. Kicking out a rational, paying customer into the rain for no reason other than speaking up is another thing. I see that this salon has responded to all negative reviews on Citysearch to defend itself. However, I am interested to see how the salon will defend itself for this blatant offense.

I was won over by Kathy's superior cuts two years ago and have since enjoyed consistly sassy, flattering hair styles that never fail to garner compliments. I love her sense of playfulness - both in her cuts and in the fun "girl-time" we share while I sit in her chair. How great to be so spoiled!

Hair is obviously an important part of anyone's image and reflects who or what the individual is as much as how they appear. Amy Gerber understands people and how they express themselves through appearance (her eyes are also stunning!) The salon is clean - barely a shorn piece of hair hits the ground before staff are scurrying to clean, the music is ...interesting, but most importantly the haircuts are great and the team attentive. Amy truly knows and understands style - thank you!

I was looking for a place to get a haircut in New York and based on the Citysearch reviews for Timothy John's I decided to give it a try. Yesterday evening I got a haircut with Efthemia and she was the best. She listened to exactly what I wanted and delivered it flawlessly. Plus she was very clear about what she was going to do and we talked about the cut along the way so that she knew I was liking it, unlike some hairdressers I've been to who just cut and cut and seem to have forgotten the original conversation. In the end I was completely happy with the cut and then when I went to pay it was not bankrupting like so many other salons in the city.

I will absolutely go back to Timothy John's and Efthemia and I would recommend it to everyone!

I have never written a review for anything before but since I always read and rely on them I thought I finally should...especially since this place is definitely worthy of praise. Efthemia does the best highlights- and gave me an amazing cut. She listened to what I wanted and suggested thoughful, creative ideas. I loved the result! On top of that, the prices are reasonable, the salon is cozy and the staff is friendly. I am never going anywhere else.

I just moved to the city and I was dreading the search for a new, and affordable, stylist. I moved here from Charlotte, NC where I paid what was considered above average for a cut, single process color and highlights. I visited three other salons before finding Timothy John's and all three were at least double what I paid in Charlotte. I'm so glad I found Timothy John's because just like most women, I would have paid any amount of money as long as I liked the outcome. Well, at Timothy John's I found Amy! Amy did a fantastic job on my color and highlights and I love my cut! She was very thourough and I felt like she really understood what I wanted to have done. I'll be going back to see Amy again and again. I also sent my boyfriend there who left just as happy with his cut.

If you are looking for a quality salon with reasonable prices, go to Timothy John's. I love it!

Having recently moved from Australia I was dreading the "finding a new hairdresser experience". I need not have worried! I loved my first experience at Timothy Johns. Amy was ready when I arrived for my appointment, she listened to my thoughts, concerns, needs in relation to my hair and delivered a finished product that was the best haircut and color I have had - she really tailored a style that suits me!
Will definitely be heading back.

Today was my first visit to the salon and I am instantly in love!!!! I have very long hair and I am wary of trying new salons, as some stylists tend to get "scissor happy", but my previous stylist had moved to Miami so I was forced to find a new place.

As soon as I arrived Timothy was ready for the appointment. Also, it was a very comfortable atmosphere, it didn't have that pretentious feel that is typical of midtown salons. He sat me down and asked me exactly what I wanted and delivered just that! When I was finished and I walked out the door, looked at my watch and did a double take.... 45 min from start to finish- and did I mention that I have really long curly hair that he had straightened??? Unbelievable!

Definitely Recommend, A++

I've been going to Timothy John's salon for several years now. The staff are so friendly and inviting! Not only that, but they do great hair! Efthemia rocks for color and cut, Kathy is awesome for updos, and I've never seen anyone walk away from Timothy's or Amy's chairs without a big, satisfied smile on their face. I've gone from short to long to blonde to red to brunet and everything in between with them; every time it turns out great.

Timothy John's is all of these things and more. The talent is that of a big name salon but with the atmosphere, prices, and personal attention of having your best friend cut your hair at your house (that's a good thing). It's relaxing and comfortable and you never have any doubt that you will get what you wanted. An amazing find and another reason to love the Kitchen!

I loved my hairstylist, Efthemia. This was the first time I went to her and she gave exactly what I wanted. I received a fantastic layered haircut and she gave me the perfect contrast of blonde highlights and lowlights. I'm sometimes satisfied with the cut and not the color or vice versa, but here I was completely satisfied. Not to mention, she was very pleasant, as well as the rest of the staff, and gave off a vibe of confidence which made me feel comfortable. Finally, I found my hairstylist!

I was very excited watching Timothy John's Salon open up next door to me. The cute decor was personal and inviting (even the mirrors are hand made). I think I was one of their first customers, and I have been going there for 5 years now. Timothy is so welcoming and friendly with his Wisconsin roots. He will sit and chat with you about his latest bowling tournament, or listen attentively to your stories. The shampoo is more than just getting your hair clean--they actually massage your head. I have had my haircut by both Timothy and Dawn (who is sadly no longer there) and they both did an amazing job. I like to mix it up and get all different styles...curly, straight, short, long, bangs, edgy, classic, and all have been fabulous. Three of my roommates have gone there for hair color and look spectacular.

I had an appointment with 1 stylist. After she did some work, another client came for her; I was thrown to another stylist. Then a client came for stylist 2; I was given to stylist 3, who then handed me to stylist 4 for blowdrying. I wanted to get some moisture out of my hair so I could see the color, but I wasn't allowed to dry it myself and no one informed me I'd be charged. The service was very impersonal. I was barely spoken to & after stylist 1, I didn't know anyone's name. When I paid, stylist 1 ran over; however, since she had another client, I couldn't tell her my dislikes. I have never been to a salon where my stylist didn't sit me in front of a mirror to consult. When I left, I went to another salon for consultation on what I didn't like.

I've been to this Salon only once, but I am extremely impressed. Elena cut my hair and, in addition to doing a fantastic job, she made the experience especially agreeable. Everyone else was nice, and my appointment was kept on time (important if you're a busy person!). The price for a men's haircut is reasonable and I will definitely be back.

My entire adult life I have gone from one hair stylist/colorist to another hair stylist/colorist to another...I was a hair harlot. But when I met Timothy about 5 years ago and he did my hair...I fell in love and have NEVER strayed. I have consistantly gotten excellent hair cuts and AMAZING color...Timothy is a true artist. All you need to know is AMY. It has been 25years since I was a natural blond. Amy has worked her magic and I am once again as blond as the day I was born. I have sent 4 friends to Amy 2 blondes, a redhead, and a brunette. Lets just say Amy is going to be a very popular girl. The 2 blondes are actresses and have had their hair done by the best, they swear by Amy. I am only writing this because in this city if a stylist isn't busy she moves around and I would like to stay a natural blond. Bonus the cute boy at the front desk is hilarious.

I have been a devoted follower of Amy Gerber for over five years. I gladly trekked to every salon she worked for in Hamilton, NJ, and I refused to let her moving to NYC stop me. Amy has more insight and skill that she exerts on her clients than anyone I have ever seen. She takes pride in making her clients look their best, and I would never consider trusting my hair to anyone else. Traveling to NYC from Jersey is more than worth the time, effort, and train ticket to have my hair done by the best and most capable stylist I have ever had the pleasure of knowing.

When I first moved to the city, I tried out several different hair salons in an effort to find "the one." A coworker recommended Timothy John's, and I've been thrilled with every cut they've given me! Efthemia is my favorite (I trust her completely and always leave my hairstyle up to her judgement), but I've also had good cuts by Kathy and Dawn as well. After my last cut, two friends went and had their hair cut there too. (Five people from my office now go.) It's great, and the cost isn't astronomical either. Not dirt cheap, but well worth it!

I have been going to Timothy John's Salon for several years and they continue to rock my hair. I have a crazy schedule, and call last minute for my haircuts. Because of this, I have seen every stylist in the salon, and they are all amazing. Timothy,Efthemia, Amy and Kathy have all cut my hair, and I have to say that i cant pick a favorite. The best part about it, is that nobody makes me feel like i am a cheater if I go to one of the other stylists. Each has thier own style and flair, but they continue to make me look up to date, trendy, or funky/wild(when I want it), and I always leave feeling like my hair has been rocked out. Dont worry who you make your appointment with. They are all awesome.

I love this place! I came in with a very specific color in mind and after speaking with my stylist Efthemia and Timothy, I got a full head of highlights and a cut. Efthemia's experience and skill was so apparent. If you are looking for a top quality New York salon without the New York prices, this is it! And to top it off the staff is warm and friendly, I can't say enough about Timothyjohn's. I will never go anywhere else.

I started going to Timothy John's a few months ago. David & John make you feel welcome the second you step foot in the salon, Timothy always says hello. I get layers, highlights, and the occasional updo for special occassions. The stylist I see there is Efthemia (hope I spelled that right!) she was so professional and talented. She got my hair into the best shape it's ever been in. I don't have split ends, and I use a flat iron everyday, she always recommends the best products to care for my color and hair type. She even colors my hair in a unique way so that I don't have to get it done as often as I used to, which is friendly on my wallet, nice technique!! I highly recommend Efthemia. I am a customer for life. Thanks, you guys rock!

I have been seeing Timothy for about 2 years. He always gives me a great cut and color to compliment my face. I always receive positive feedback from my friends and family after I visit Timothy. I completely trust Timothy's judgement and usually let him do whatever he thinks is best. The atomosphere is very laid back, friendly and unintimidating. If you are new to the city and are looking for a stylist or want I change, try Timothy at Timothy John's Salon!

A neighborhood salon with results that exceed any of the high-end NY mega-salons. The entire staff is incredibly personable, warm, & funny. I have been going to the salon for over two years and have been with a few different stylists. I have always been completely satisfied with my cut and color. While I rely on Timothy's expertise, he is very collaborative and is never condescending or patronizing when I have a suggestion. I consider myself to have a more progressive hair style and I am always pleased with the results. If you want to treat yourself, look your best, and not break the bank, go to Timothy Johns.

Timothy has been cutting and coloring my hair for over 5 years. When I first went to Timothy my hair was in such bad shape (from a competitive salon in NYC!) that it had to be cut short. Since then I have had the most wonderfully healthy hair and now get single process color AND highlights! People even think the color is natural!! I now live in NJ and have a 2 year old daughter. The only maintenance I have for myself is going to the salon! I won't let anyone else color my hair! Of course the people at the salon have become my friends as well. My daughters first hair cut was by Timothy as well. I would never trust anyone else to touch her hair!

I have been going to Timothy for almost 7 years, before he had his own salon. He is fantastic. He always delivers what I want and yet is still adventurous with styling. Recently, he let me know that the texture of my hair had changed and he was very concerned. I investigated this and long story short, my liver was't functioning properly. I got a lot more than I bargained for with my latest haircut and I am exceptionally grateful for his care and attention. I highly recommend the salon!!

Don't go to Epthemia. I was growing out a haircut with a ton of layers in the back. I told her several times that I wanted her to bring the cut up, cut off the layers until my hair was eventually even in the back. She said yeah I know what you want and gave me the same EXACT haircut I just spent 2 mos. growing out! Then had the nerve to say to me "I asked you if you wanted layers" SHE NEVER ASKED THAT. I was close to tears & David sat there practically laughing and said he would call me in a few days to see how I felt. I never got a phone call. She said I could come back to have it fixed "JUST DON'T WAIT 2 WEEKS!" Major lack of customer service and Epthemia's immaturity and lack of experience SO apparent.

These guys are hip, laid back and very convenient to the working actor! They have a lot of customers on Broadway and tv. They really know what they are doing...my highlights have never looked soooo natural, and they last an extra month or so, no joke!!

Now that I have moved to Alabama, I am hesitant to get highlights. I will probably have to wait until I take a vacation to NY to get them again!!

I will miss all of my new friends at Timothy John's! Do yourself a favor and make an appointment!!

I am a pretty high maintenance hair person. I always want to try something new each time I need a cut or color. The staff is always friendly and accomodating and the atmosphere is actually FUN! You feel very at home when you walk into Timothy John's. Timothy himself is a total gem. I would never go any where else. The cost is much less than one of the big name salons who don't treat you nicely and most of the time do a sub-par job anyway b/c they are so rushed to get you out the door.
Timothy and his staff take time to consult and work with you to make your hair exactly what you want. I love it!! I've been going for 3 years and now abot 5 of my friends see them as well.

On my last visit to Timothy John's, I was very honored to have Timothy cut, color, and style my hair. His staff is super friendly and immediately made me feel comfortable. As soon as I sat in Timothy's chair, he helped me decide what cut and color would best suit not only my face, but my care-free personality. I love that Timothy took the time to help me find the best solution to make me as beautiful as possible. He truly cared about me; I wasn't just another cut and color. One more bonus, I LOVED THE RESULTS!!! I left feeling confident and beautiful. When I started work the next Monday, I was showered with compliments. Everyone had to know where I got my hair done. I felt awesome! Thanks Timothy for giving me such a wonderful experience. I can't wait for my next appointment!

I get highlights and cuts from the salon and I leave with beautiful hair every time! Timothy is a color wizard!!!! But I must admit, the other stylists are quite good also. it's a very friendly atmosphere...great music also

I never thought that when I walked into Timothy John's, I would not only walk away with a great cut and (dont tell my friends) color, but feel like I left with a new group of frineds. Everyone in the salon was very friendly. My stylist was great and had lots of ideas for my style and color. The price was far less than I expected it to be when I was checking out. I highly recommend Timothy Johns.
