2 things:\n\n1) Our cat, Amos, was a new patient at the Cobble Hill Animal Clinic, so we were unfamiliar with any of the doctors, techs, staff, etc. Amos needed a procedure which would require hospitalization for 2-3 days (we were told the price would stay the same either way by one of the doctors). We were given a verbal quote SEVERAL hundred dollars less than we ended up paying ultimately (there were no complications with the procedure whatsoever and the doctor did do an excellent job). Amos needed distemper and boosters over the course of a few weeks before the procedure could be performed and throughout these few weeks, we started receiving new, higher estimates (one including an unnecessary teeth-cleaning). The day before the procedure, we confirmed an estimate with someone over the phone and had it emailed to us. When I showed up the next day, the estimate I was asked to sign was $200 higher because the person the night before had forgotten a key item...the procedure itself! When I saw the lower estimate the night before, the procedure was listed with $0.00 next to it, so I assumed we'd already paid for it during the previous vaccination sessions. \n\nAnyway, I finally agreed to sign this new, higher estimate because I was told that the person who gave us the lower estimate was ""new"" and made a mistake. We were offered a $30 discount off an $800 procedure (woohoo!). When we came to pick Amos up three days later, there were two NEW charges to the bill. One for the 3rd day of hospitalization (remember we were told the price would not be affected by a 3rd day by one of the doctors), and one for an antibiotic not included on the form I signed on the day Amos was admitted. We were also told that the person who was originally supposed to perform the procedure was not available so Dr. Green (apparently a VERY highly-esteemed surgeon) stepped in. We were reminded of how great he was when we went to pick up Amos - Dr. Green wanted us to know that he normally charges $200 more than he charged us. So thank you Dr. Green for the charity, I guess? \n\nThe manager agreed to refund the ""accidental"" charge for the third day, which we appreciate, however, after all of this runaround, this hospital, while Amos was very well-cared for, is more than a little slippery with their billing. That, or their system is completely incompetent.\n\n2) I give a second star ONLY because our beloved Amos is seemingly recovering VERY well and is in good spirits only three days after surgery, so it's apparent that Dr. Green and the vet technicians did a great job and took very good care of him. \n\nI'm disappointed that everything else was SO unprofessional and incongruent, because Dr. Green seems to be every bit as good as we've been told (many, many times). Sadly, we will not be frequent fliers of the Cobble Hill Animal Clinic in the future...\n\nI hope this review helps people out there who are considering their services - make sure you stay on top of them, because they certainly needed babysitting in our case!

These people try to create the illussion that they care about you and your pet but when I brought my pup in they just saw dollars signs. They act nice but if you're not carefull they will screw you with a smile. \r\n\r\nThats goes for greedy LoBasso and his wife.

Clean spaces, patient and caring staff. My dog will definitely be going back to this clinic. We've finally found a competent and gentle veterinarian we've been looking for.

My pet was returned to me dirty and smelly after an operation. Very uncaring practice. Also, the procedure cost $600 MORE than what they said it would cost.

Cons: not good with animals or estimates

I brought my cats in, expecting the same treatment and courtesies extended by Dr. Maddox. Instead, I found Dr. Lobasso with $$ signs in his eyes, ready to charge for every unnecessary thing. My Bengal HAD JUST HAD HIS CHECKUP. Several days later he seemed to be uncomfortable, shaking his paw. I came in \r\nhalf an hour before closing to ask for advice, and was charged $55 for an office visit -- after which Dr. Lobasso said sorry, I can't examine the paw without tests, sedation, ,and x-rays! BUT it could be a serious virus, so this can't wait. Then I paid over $100 for blood work, prior to sedation, before remembering that Dr. Maddox had neutered this cat beautifully, with sedation and NO blood work. Back home, without the pressure from Dr. Lobasso, plus a distressed cat on the examining table (and no one even looking at his paw), I thought better of subjecting him to unnecessary sedation, x-rays, and a ""hospital stay."" So I saved about $250, but lost $150 in the process. And my cat is fine. He did not have a virus. He didn't have anything. Think twice before you use these people.\r\n

I have never had a vet call me later after putting a pet to sleep to see if I was OK. They are all angels

Given some of the negative reviews, I wanted to weigh in. I also was a huge Maddox fan. But, I have had good experiences with both Dr. Lobasso and Dr. Park. Dr. Lobasso detected what he thought was a mass in my cat's belly, which upon further testing turned out to be lymphoma. He was very helpful in reccomending options and specialists for us, and he also called to find out how my cat was doing. When it ultimately became time to put my cat down, we saw Dr. Park, and her bedside manner was truly impeccable, especially considering that I was borderline hysterical. She was incredibly gentle and sensitive. So, I for one would certainly reccomend that folks continue with Cobble Hill.

My dog recently had serious vomiting and diarrhoea. I took her into Cobble Hill, she was seen within an hour. She was quite ill and the vet decided to admit her for tests, and then, later, overnight as she needed an IV. Although Dr LoBasso had been working all day he called back to the surgery late that night to check on my dog. Luckily, the next day she was allowed home -- after lots of discussion with me about the pros and cons and precise advice about what to do if she relapsed on a Sunday when the surgery was closed. Everything was explained carefully and I was given time and advice before making a decision. All turned out well. I felt I had the best possible care for my pet and would highly recommend Cobble Hill to anyone wanting really professional care for their animal. \n\nAs well as Dr LoBasso, the support staff are terrific.

Maddox was awesome no doubt. He was very caring and reasonable. I was hesitant to continue going to Cobble Hill after reading so many bad reviews. I went back and to my surprise it was great. Yes, it is different, you can no longer just walk in you must make an appoitment. The billing is up to par with all other vets which is a drag but fair. I think others were spoiled by Dr. Maddox SInce he was so personable and affordable. However I am confident In the new staff and I wish them the best. I have only dealt with Dr. Park who has been very kind and willing to listen. She even made a follow up call to see how my pet was doing. I have been going to this Clinic for over 12 years and will happily continue. My best to Dr Maddox I haope he is enjoying retirement.

Dr. Maddox the former vet was an exceptional vet and cared more about the animals than money or even people. The new ownership is the exact opposite. I ordered my cat's insulin as usual through Petmeds and receieved a phone call from Petmeds informing me the new vet that had taken over refused the prescription. I receved no letter or phone call from the new vet informing me of any changes. When I called the office I was told that the new vet would not honor Dr. Maddox's prescription without another visit and a full workup. I asked if they could please just fill this order and then I will bring him in since I am very pregnant and not able to trek my cat to the office and would have to wait for my husband to have time off to do it . I explained I would be out of insulin before that could happen. Although Debra (lovely office person) plead my case she phoned back to say the vet refused and I would have to bring my kitty in. I did find another vet who wrote a new prescription and even the office personel there was confused as to why no one notified me or at the very least offered enough insulin until I could get my cat out to visit. All I can say is...I miss Dr. Maddox and would suggest not using this vet since money seems to be a deciding factor in all things not an animal's well being.

What a shame for Dr. Maddox to leave...he was honest and laughed at how many expensive unnecessary tests my old vet ripped me off for, which I appreciated. \n\nBut now there's a new doc - who's doing the same thing I was trying to avoid - ordering tests ""for good measure"" that cost upwards of $150. I've spent over $1,000 on my cat in the past month - it was a liver problem, no wait it's his kidneys, oh gosh gee now it's his bladder. The cat is 10 years old and running around playing, eating normally, going to the bathroom fine, nothing is clinically wrong with him. I'm not Rockefeller and can't afford this, and don't like subjecting my cat to multiple poking and prodding. \n\nFind someone who cares about the health of your pets and not their balance sheet.

Pros: close to my apt, clean, open saturdays

Cons: disregard, over-testing ($$$)

I was told to use this clinic by many neighbors. It turns out my neighboors are nuts. This is not the place to go. I have had better service at Taco Bell. I waited almost an hour, and no one cared. I was told that my dog should have a dentistry but they couldnt do it just yet because the machine was broke, then told me to make another appointment in a few weeks when the machine was up and running. I was charged some fees that no one there can still tell me what they were for. It was almost if they went outta their way to make me feel uncomfortable. Long story short, there have to be better vets in Brooklyn

I have to say after being a client of Dr Maddox for several years I was quite reluctant to see the new doctor. But I have to say my little piggy absolutely loved him. He seems very knowledgable on brachycephalic dogs and I was extremely comfortable letting him work on my baby. The staff were lovely to piggy and i felt that the place had only improved! I would really encourage people to go to see Dr Lobasso, things have only gotten better at Cobble hill!!!!

Anytime in the past Dr. Maddox would have called me back same day if not within hours. this new Doc took 5 days. I called and called and called, to no avail. Well long story short my poodle wound up in the emergency on Warren street and I was told all he needed was his meds stopped. The end is my dog is no longer here, all we needed was to take him off meds. Yes this is my fault for thinking that this office had a heart and would have returned a call. Word to the wise this is a very non compassionate place with the moving on of Dr. Maddox. I miss my dog very much I will not fault all the blame on this Dr. but i only wish it didnt take 5 days for a return call. I was told the outcome could have been very different.\r\n\r\n

My dog has been a patient for many years. The new doctor is awful. My cocker was misdiagnosed and sent home. 2 weeks later we decided to get a second opinon. Well my dog has cancer. I was told by Dr. Labosso to go home it was a mild infection. I turned out to be so severe. I will never forget the terrible actions taken by this vet

I took my elder and suddenly sickly kitty to Dr. Lobasso after years 16 years with Dr. Maddox. I could not believe the difference in the Clinic! The staff was totally on the ball - accommodating me in an emergency - and all the vet techs were involved, professional and sympathetic. \r\n\r\nAs to Dr. Lobasso? Maybe some people want to be coddled while caring for their little fluffy-pet but I want a doctor who gets right to the point and takes the time to really think beyond the obvious problems of older cats. Dr. Lobasso diagnosed and treated both my cat and her pets (us) with respect . He was thorough, patient, informative and attentive. We spent a good deal of time in the office and never felt rushed; each question was properly answered. The doctor called us at home at 9pm with lab results and to see how the patient was faring!! \r\n\r\nI'm delighted to have Dr. Lobasso in Cobble Hill and so is my fluffy-pet.

Cons: Very busy so sometimes there's a long wait

Dr LoBasso cared for my cats and dog for five years, at his previous practice, and I was very pleased to hear he'd taken over Dr Maddox's clinic in Cobble Hill, where I'd registered my pets the year before. Dr Maddox was a much-loved vet and his long standing in the community makes him a hard act to follow -- but Dr LoBasso is, in my opinion, more than up to the challenge. He treated one of my cats successfully through a thyroid tumor and brought the other back from the edge after she'd fallen twelve floors and then spent five weeks living rough -- he tended to her with great thoughtfulness and intelligence, not just checking for obvious physical damage but spending time and care exploring the potential effects of this traumatic experience on her entire system. Every visit I made with my animals I was given options, thorough explanations and, unusually, time for discussion. My dog has been looked after by Dr LoBasso since she was an eight-week old puppy, when he patiently gave me lots of advice as a nervous new dog-owner. His professional approach can make him seem a little reserved, but I'd rather have this -- and his up-to-date techniques -- than super-friendliness to the humans. The important thing is that I'd have total confidence in his judgement, no matter how serious the condition of my animals.

I've been using this clinic for 10+ years and have to say that Dr. LoBasso is fantastic. He was so gentle and very thorough in examing my cat yesterday. And he spent a lot of time explaining things to me. I never felt rushed, he answered all of my questions and addressed my concerns. I recommend him highly and will continue to use him for all of my veterinary needs.

Dr. Maddox retired and the new vet, Dr. LoBasso, is a very poor substitute. On our first visit, he was abrupt, cold and seemed to dislike both people and animals. I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt, however, and go back a second time but this time was even worse. I will not be returning.

I was just at the clinic 2 months ago and had heard some mention about Dr. Maddox thinking about retirement, and upon calling for an appointment today, I learned that he is suddenly retired!? Has anyone else had experiences with Dr. Lobasso? I've seen the woman vet there before and she is abrupt and cold, nothing like Dr. Maddox.

This was my second visit at this hospital, the first time i saw a lady doctor that i don't recall her name. She was nice but a bit brief, on 12/8 i met Dr. Lobasso and he seemed great. He examined my dog from head to toe, even the back end ( which no one has never done ).\r\nI will return to see him. \r\nPros- professional and caring\r\nCons- Busy waiting room.

I think that since Dr.Maddox sold his business, this new regime will not be able to handle any kind of pressure.Dr Tom might not be able handle everything with out tons of assistance.Which I""M sure Darryl could not handle either.Sorry to say i think they will run the business down to the ground. That""s my opinion.

Dr. Maddox has cared for our dog for three years. She is six and had seen two other vets before we started going to Dr. Maddox. He is the best one we have had. He listens thoroughly and has a calm demeanor. I think that what people on this site are referring to when they describe him as abrupt is that he does not suffer fools. I imagine that being a vet in New York City can be tough, because people are so neurotic and love their animals, and often see problems (even illnesses) as something to be fixed by throwing money around or talking a lot. My point is, I bet he sees some crazy things. \r\n\r\nIn my experience, he's not condescending at all, but I can see where his straightforward, knowledgeable, rational approach could make some people annoyed. If you want someone to nod and smile while you rant for twenty minutes about something dumb, he is not your vet (I think there is one on Atlantic that does that). However, if you want an extremely honest, caring, knowledgeable professional who will take lovely care of your pet, Dr. Maddox is a great choice. He and his non-vet staff are wonderful, and we will continue to go there for the life of our dog and with any future pets. I hope he doesn't retire for a very long time!\r\n

I can see that a lot of people, like me, had positive experiences and others apparently didn't. I feel it is only fair to counter the negative attacks with my experience. I had a very sick cat who had a tumor on his lungs. Dr. Maddox was definitely NOT condescending or rude (which is what some are saying here). He was kind and patient and seemed to be completely sympathetic. I'm sure I wasn't the most easy to deal with pet owner in the world during that time. I was upset, impatient, and willing to pay any price to avoid the inevitable. Dr. Maddox kept his cool and was level-headed through the whole experience.

I brought my adopted dog to Dr. Maddox for the three years we had her. I found his personality abrasive and dismissive and had to train myself to not be bullied by his way of treating you like your hysterical and overreactive but overall have found his care very good. All of his staff are so kind and they make it very easy to make an appointment or refer you to a specialist. My adopted dog was old with various skin issues, allergies and heart/lung problems so we used his services often. When he could not do the test or keep her over night he would have us bring her over to the Emergency Referal group on Warren Street which he works well with. (Emergency Referal on Warren is also awesome but costly!) Dr. Maddox also only did tests he felt would be worth it rather than charging us for tests we didn't need. He's straightforward and seems very knowledgeable. Overall, the office staff is great and his care is good. I would give him five stars if it wasn't for his dismissive personality.

18 months ago I went to Cobble Hill Animal Clinic for my dog's check-up. She had something that looked like a blister on her belly. Dr. Maddox treated each of my questions as if they were coming from a crazy, hysterical person. Call him dry, call him flamboyant; I say he's just rude. He insisted the blister was nothing to worry about-- just a ""localized pocket of bacteria."" He gave her an antibiotic that never worked. The way he spoke down to me definitely deterred me from following up with him. \r\n\r\nToday I took her to another vet who says she has never heard of such a thing as a localized pocket of bacteria. She stuck a needle in the blister and came back with grave news: it's cancer. Guess how long that took, Dr. Maddox. It took 2 minutes. You did not have 2 minutes to give to this customer and sent me out of your office misinformed when I went to you for help, and my dog has had cancer this whole time without me knowing to treat it.

After having over 10 veterinarians in my lifetime I have found the one that genuinely cares about my pets. He is inexpensive, but gives so much more than he charges. My cat was diagnosed with diabetes last year and after having my old vet ask for $2,500 to start tests and requiring I leave him for 5 days I was told about Dr. Maddox by a coworker. I went that very day and was told keeping him would register incorrect readings do to the stress of being alone and was not presented with a bill until after all testing was done. Byron is back to his old self and healthy again. Dr. Maddox has more patience for the animal than he does for their owners, but that is what makes him absolutely the best vet I have ever encountered. His staff is friendly and efficient. Dr. Maddox has personally returned my phone calls and even called several times to check up on Byron after our intial visits. He does have a dry wit, but his voice and deamnor changes to that of a loving grandfather when he turns his attention to the pets. I wish he treated humans.

I am an animal lover. I have had two turtles, 5 dogs, two cats and two rabbits over the years. I can tell you that Dr. Maddox is compassionate and fair but above all else sensible and professional. When my 5 year old Boston Terrier developed unexplained seizures he sent me to a specialist equipped with an M.R.I. And when my 10 year old Boston Terrier developed what looked to be a hole on her cornea he immediately called the eye specialist and secured an appointment for the same day, leaving me enough time to travel there right away. Dr. Maddox charged me only $45 for each of those visits. In my experience, Dr. Maddox provides knowledgeable and conscientious care. What I like most about him is his willingness to admit when something is out of his realm and his ability to get you the proper help you need right away. He has developed a network of exceptional professionals that specialize in a variety of veterinary care disciplines. He has been my trusted primary veterinary care provider for more than 18 years. I highly recommend Dr. Maddox and his courteous staff.

I took my two cats (8 & 11-years-old) to Dr. Maddox for routine check-ups and he gave them both clean bills of health. He even said the cats didn't need to come back again for a check-up for two years. One evening six months later, my 11-year-old began panting so I took him to an emergency clinic (Veterinary Emergency & Referral Group) where he was diagnosed with diabetes and a heart murmur. The next evening he died at the clinic during treatment. \r\n\r\nI want to make it clear that I have no evidence that Dr. Maddox missed these problems during the check-up. At the same time, I find it hard to believe that my cat developed BOTH diabetes and the heart murmur within a mere six months -- and to such severe degrees that they so suddenly caused his death.\r\n\r\nI'm not taking any chances with my younger cat and am taking him elsewhere.

Recently, my dog of 20 years died. I could not think of any other place to bring her than to Dr. Maddox. I was so relieved that he was there that day and was able to console me in midst of my grief. Over the years, I have really loved going to the Cobble Hill Animal Clinic, the care has always been professional, fairly priced and compassionate. He also saved my cat's life 13 years ago when he was suffering from feline urinary syndrome. Today, I'm taking a dog which I saved from being put to sleep so the clinic can look at his injured paw. I highly recommed this clinic.

Pros: Clinic sent me a signed bereavement card when my dog Pepper died.

Cons: Parking in that area is almost non-existent. Take a cab

I love Dr. Maddox. I moved to Brooklyn last year after having gone to the same Vet for over 10 years so, needless to say, I was worried about bringing my older cat to someone new. Dr. Maddox quelled my fears insantly. He is completely thorough, answers any and all questions I have without making me feel rushed, has a sense of humor and I always feel that the health of my cat is the first priority. In other words, he rules! Additionally, everyone who works in the office, from the reception area to the vet techs, are awesome. Can you tell I like this office?

After researching online for the best vet in Brooklyn I read this citysearch review and made my decision. My dog is shy and big so he's slightly intimidating when he gets nervous. Dr. Maddox and his tech were strong, sweet yet thorough which was a first, I left my last vet because of the lack of attention they were willing to give. Dr. Maddox took the time to explain the different shots and the changes that happen in an older dog. Another impressive moment was when I left he didn't attempt to sell me a thing, the price was right too. He's great, he's like the Jack London of vets.

Wow, really Great Vet! My pug, Stella, had minor surgery (drained abcess) and when she went back to have a stitch removed she walked right in - not afraid of the Vet or waiting room at all, let them touch the area with stitches without shying away, they handled her so well. I usually don't post to these things, but Dr. Maddox was so good with my dog and the Vet tech was great as well, doesn't recommend expensive unnecessary procedures, saw my dog on a day's notice as a new patient with a problem.

We've been using Dr Maddox for over 3 years now, and we just love him! Very cost-effective approach 90% of the time, but wasn't afraid to recommend a specialist last year for treatment when we neded it. He returns calls personally, he's excellent with the animals, and I enjoy his dry sense of humor. For those who find him rude, just relax a little. He's not making fun of you, he's not yelling at you, he's just a no-nonsense guy (wish there were more of them in NYC!) Price-wise I think he does a good job of making vet care affordable; of course there are times when my wallet squeaked, but that's what comes with having a pet! Overall I've found his prices to be affordable and below what other vets charge, and I've NEVER felt pressured to buy a 'special product' they way we felt at Hope. Love him, wish he were my doctor, those that are upset with hiim are possibly overly-sensitive to begin with. Office is clean, no chemical smell, easy to get an appointment, Dr Maddox and vet techs are sweet and kind with the animals. Only real complaint is that receptionists lack personality and can take a while to acknowledge you. They aren't rude, but not very friendly, and I wish I had a better experience with these staff. Please try him, you'll love it her! Overall, he is an excellent vet, he cares about the animals, he doesn't rush you, and he has a lot of common sense which is invaluable!!

I registered with the Cobble Hill Animal Clinic and took my cat there this morning for a check up. I added my name to the list showing who had arrived and in what order, and saw the name above me was taking her cat there for declawing. I asked the receptionist if they declawed, she said yes, so I told her I was cancelling my appointment and would not be returning. I have read mixed reviews of the vet himself and was prepared to give him a chance, but as far as I am concerned someone who is happy to mutilate animals in this way is not a compassionate person or an animal lover. I have now registered with Hope Vet on Atlantic instead, where they do not declaw cats. And for anyone who still believes declawing is acceptable, please visit a website called stellahasnofeet

Our cat has a chronic condition, and we've been taking him to Dr. Maddox for the past three months. I don't know what others' bad experiences are based on, but we couldn't be happier with Dr. Maddox or the treatment he's given our cat, Chester. We thought Chester was a goner -- he wouldn't eat, was barely moving -- and now he's practically back to normal, thanks to Dr. Maddox's diagnosis and treatment advice. He's been considerate and honest about Chester's condition and clear about Chester's treatment. He's been personally engaged with Chester and us from day one.\r\n\r\nWe couldn't ask for more from Dr. Maddox and his staff.\r\n

Our dogs had been going to another vet in the neighborhood where we encountered so many problems. Someone recommened Dr. Maddox, and what a diffence it made. I actually look forward to trips to the vet as do our dogs. Dr. Maddox interested, sincere and caring. He expects the same of the pet owners. For others who have registered certain off the chart negative comments on this site, all I can say is our experience has been the opposite. I wouldn't trust the care of our pets to anyone else.

We took our 5 year old cat there for the first time today, and Dr. Maddox put us at ease immediately. After taking the time to listen to our prior veterinary experience, and listening to the suggestions we had gotten from my girlfriend's father (a 25 year vet in Chicago who I trust) he explained that our cat needed the attention of a respiratory specialist, referred us to one, and didn't charge us for the visit (nor did he make us feel rushed).\r\n\r\nEveryone in the waiting room, which as full (and a full waiting room means happy customers as far as I'm concerned) seemed to be very happy, and the staff knew most of the animals by name.\r\n\r\nOur 3 cats will be happy to be in good hands. \r\n

... even if you find him a bit gruff at first. When I first took my cat to see Dr. Maddox, I thought he had a terrible bedside manner with the pet owner. I [incorrectly] interpreted his dry sense of humor and sharp focus on his patients as a lack of sensitivity to the my concerns as an owner. But after several visits I realized that my cat really did well with him and that perhaps - like many of us - he relates better to animals than people.\r\nWhen my cat got sick this summer, he was absolutely fantastic. We had to leave her for observation overnight and he was very patient with us in explaining her health issues, very consistent in keeping us informed. After she was released, he personally called to check on how she was doing (on a Sunday, when his office was closed!) And after that he was always quick to return our calls himself. \r\nI recently moved from Brooklyn and was genuinely sad to be taking my cat out of his care. \r\n

I originally looked up cobble hill vet center because i heared it was a slightly less expensive than my previouse vet center...and that they did not push eroneous charges at you. \r\n\r\nwhen i went, i was pleased with the cleanliness of the lobby....but that was about it. \r\n\r\nI am a young woman, and the doctor was very sarcastic and rude to me, talking to me as if i was a child. He lectured me for not having my dogs file practically memorized, and when i forgot a detail about my dogs new meds, he yelled ""WELL YOU WOULD HAVE KNOWN IF YOU WOULD HAVE TO LISTENED TO ME!"". I felt he was extreemly rude and innapropriate. He also chuckled rudely when i forget exactly when we had got our new puppy...he said 'PSH...you dont even know how long you've had him...?"" and rolled his eyes. \r\n\r\nAs for the actual veterinary services...we had our dog nuetered with Dr. Maddox, and got some meds and he did a good job....but as for customer service and atmosphere.......i would NOT go there again.\r\n\r\n i would rather go somewhere that was more expensive...than be criticized by someone that im giving money to.

Pros: Clean Lobby, Easy to make appointments asap, well priced

Cons: RUDE DOCTOR

I've been using Dr. Maddox for years -- I love this Vet ! Very capable and empathetic, both to the animals, and the humans that love them.

Pros: Great Vet

Cons: ah, the price ! I'm not sure how he compares though, Vet care is just expensive.

Dr. Walter Maddox is a gentle man whose love for animals and patience for their owners is apparent in everything he does and says. I would not let anyone else handle or care for my 2 dogs who have been his patients for 12 years. \r\nRoseann Bucca

I moved with my 4 year old Golden Retriever from the midwest to Brooklyn Heights. I was so worried about finding a vet for him that could compare to the personal service you get from a MUCH smaller town in middle america. I've had such terrible experiences finding good medical care for myself, let alone for my dog! Since Dr. Maddox was recommended to me by neighbors and he's so convenient to my place, I took my little guy there and was BLOWN AWAY!! He has the best personality, his vet techs are amazing and you can tell he really cares about the animals. He's got such a great attitude - he doesn't hesitate to tell you exactly what he's thinking and the entire office made me feel like I was back home and had been going there for years. I will be recommending Dr. Maddox to EVERYONE I know. He's truly a gem.
