I went to Rachel at laicale and she was great! she gave me beautiful perfect blond highlights. She was really nice to me, not stuck up like at some other places, and she listened to what i wanted and then made some suggestions. my hair looks better than it ever has. I don't know what she did to it, but it was even soft a shiny, most times right after I have it colored its still dull and kinda fried. highly recommend Rachel to anyone!!!

I see Aya, who does a fantastic job with my hair. The highlights are very natural, and the cut is always cutting edge yet classy. I've recommended her to a friend who drives in from 3 hours away every other month to see her. She is a wonderful stylist. I've also gone to Faisal to have the Brazilian relaxer done to my hair. He does a fantastic job as well. (Though I am taking a break during the less humid winter months.) The lack of pretentiousness in the salon is wonderfully refreshing (especially considering it's in Soho!), and I actually enjoy going for color!

I've wanted to cut my hair short for years but was nervous and looking for the right stylist to do it. After a consultation with ROBERT @ Laicale - I felt comfortable and finally ready to go for it. He took into consideration my face shape and fine hair - and gave me a cut that is so flattering. He is AMAZING! I LOVE my new short hair. I would recommend him to anyone, man or women - he does an incredible job- extremely professional and experienced. If you're looking for a change or have short hair - he's the stylist for you.

Jesse took my dry, damaged hair and turned it into something beautiful. He cut off all the damaged brittle ends. Shaped it up and seriously gave me a new love for my hair! Excellent job!

I've been going to Robert at laicale for years and have never been disappointed. I have short hair and he always knows how to cut it, even when I want something different, but still short. he always does a great job and everyone there has been really nice and friendly.

After having fallen prey to the "celebrity hairstylist" buzz, I tried a few of the more well known NYC salons, (Gibson, Arrojo, etc), and while the results were never bad, I never left feeling completely satisfied. Sometimes it was a slightly inattentive stylist, sometimes it felt like I was being rushed out of the chair, just not super great, my hair wasn't exactly what I wanted, but never that bad either. So it was a stroke of luck that when my roots were going from "kinda noticeable" to "hot mess" that a friend of mine introduced me to Rachael at Laicale. The whole salon experience from beginning to end was great. A very polite and friendly assistant got me set up for my color appt and made me a lovely cup of orange tea with a little pirouette cookie. Rachael was amazing. Since it's fall, I wanted to take my very light blond to something a teeny bit darker but still vibrant blond. Yes, I realize this is a weird request- I want something different, but the same. Rachael had no problem with it. She added a few darker lowlights in that blended perfectly with the lighter blond, so I was subtly darker but not stripey. Not only did she do a great job, but she was super sweet and friendly. She listened to what I had to say not only about my hair, but about life, dating mishaps, roommate drama, etc. Oh, and I need to add that the aforementioned assistant gave me an insanely good scalp massage when he washed out my color. All in all it was a great experience, everybody was friendly and smiling, and my color was exactly what I wanted. I would definitely recommend the salon and especially Rachael to anyone.

I am so happy to finally have found the BEST stylist and colorist for my hair. After a long battle, going from place to place trying to fix a really bad highlight job, I found Sara! She listened to what I was looking for as far as color and cut and she delivered the look I was hoping to get, ten times better!
The Salon is beautiful, clean and modern looking. The staff is friendly and know how to treat a client. The products that they use on your hair are excellent and not to mention the head massage you get with the conditioner, so good!
I highly recommend Laicale and Sara. I have never gotten so many compliments on my hair!

Well i pretty much know everyone closely here but not on the bias tip but i am looking in on this as a consumer where as i have never seen a Salon so clean so stylish so head strong on giving you the best of the best ...in the heart of Soho hustle and bussle lies this exquisite Salon that caters to every need you may have and more especially Sara the Sister of the owner of Laicale ... She is one of the most humble and relaxing Hair Stylist to work with in the biz from Celeb to Non Celeb no matter she makes you fell like a STAR ... but after all that there is only one thing too say " See You At Laicale Cause It Is Where Hair And Beauty Is Done To Perfection " Ciao !!!

I have been searching all over this concrete jungle for a stylist who would take my flat, dull hair to new levels. I was so pleasantly surprised by Laicale's team and will continue to return.
When I came in was greeted by friendly receptionists and then proceeded to receive the most amazing head massage I think I have ever had.
My stylist listened attentively to what I wanted and gave me a stunning new look that I am proud to show off. My color is amazing and I get stopped on the street quite often by people who want to compliment me on my sparkling new do.
I would definitely recommend coming to this salon for both your color and your cut needs!!!!

Pros: Great space, staff, and extremely talented stylists.

I went to Laicale last Saturday in order to have a minor "orange root" problem fixed. yes I know I know..... Boxed color looks like crap, but we all fall prey to temptation every now and again. Anyway, so I get to the salon and explain my problem and the manager tells me to trust her and that " I am in good hands" .... I sit down with the colorist and tell her I just want my orange root problem gone... I even told her to just throw on some highlights to brighten it up and thats ALLL!!! Well.......the next thing I know I have BLUE HAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No really, BLUE HAIR!!! and my orange roots are still visible! I wanted to cry....and actually did later!!!! I did not have time to fix it bc I had to go to work, so obviously I did not pay ( so in that regard the manager was very understanding)....I have to go and get it redone now and I will NEVER go back there!

So just want to warn you all that THEY HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO HANDLE BLONDE HAIR!!!!! You are probably safe if your brunette though:)

I found Laicale last year on citysearch and I'm so glad I found it, I will never ever switch! Jesse is a hair color god!!!... His cuts are amazing too!!!!!

I've always gone through nymag in the past for reviews and recommendations...and all those over priced places fall flat! I was paying over $300 for a haircut with my previous 'big name' stylist and had been unhappy for a while.... With the 'big names' they hook you in with a great color and or cut the first few times, then they stop caring!.. They realize you're going to come back so they just rush through after a while, don't pay attention to what you want or what they're doing. I read the reviews for Jesse...went in for a cut and fell in love with my hair again! He rescued me!!!... He spent nearly an hour going through what seemed every strand and meticulously correcting what the other big name had messed up so badly! Jesse's cut was so amazing, I decided to consult with him on color. I had been going to the same colorist for years and was nervous to try anyone else. After the first time Jesse colored my hair, I realized... he is absolutely worth the hour and half drive into Soho from the North Shore of Long Island to get a color and cut. Not to mention Jesse is a wonderful person and has a sparkling personality that makes you feel comfortable when you're sitting there with him for an hour or more.
Mark also deserves props...he gives the best shampoo I've ever had. The entire staff is friendly and compared to most places in the city, the prices are reasonable and the overall service is very very much above par, the space is clean and trendy with good music. Even if I move out of state....I will fly in for Jesse!!!

This is an incredible place. Jesse does my hair and?aside from being fun, friendly, and adorable?he's really talented. I've yet to have a bad cut. Jesse has great advice if you want it, and a clear, adept eye. The salon is comfortable (and immaculate), and the neck massages are to die for. This is one of those places you leave feeling like you've done yourself a favor by having visited. Couldn't recommend it more.

I have been using Ryan at Laicale for over a year and have not had a bad hair day since! His cuts are easy to manage yet versatile, allowing me to tame it by day and go wild by night. His eye for color sets off my skin tone perfectly, even when the seasons change. The diverse salon staff are extremely friendly and there is never a trace of attitude that you can sometimes experience in NYC salons.

I finally found someone who can understand me!! Faisal is very patience, nice, and he knows how to make me looks and feel beautiful!

I had a haircut few times with him and he never disappoint me, on my last visit I had a highlight, turn out very nice and I am definitely a very happy customer.

I've been recommended Faizal to some of my coworkers, and friends, they all very happy with Faisal also the service at Laicale. Definitely worth try to go there and I would not hesitate to recommended him to you..

I've been going to Rachael for years and I couldn't be happier. When I first came to her I was in need of a new hair style and I didn't even know it (I had a crew cut for years and didn't pay much attention to my hair). I went to Rachael and basically said, "Go ahead and do whatever you think would be best for my hair". After my first haircut with her I could tell I had made the right decision. Nothing too showy, just enough style, and just a far better haircut than I've ever had. Thanks again, Rachael.

I went to Laicale for the first time about 2 weeks ago for the Brazilian keratin treatment, as well as highlights. I usually do not bother reviewing anything online, but I am so happy with the results I really want to recommend this salon! The entire staff is amazing, from the front desk to the hair washer to the stylist. Faisal did my highlights and Brazilian treatment and everything turned out amazing- I highly recommend him!

I am a spontaneous person when it comes to my hair, and in the past when I lived in California my stylist knew this and humored my ever-changing whims. I moved to NYC a year ago, and every salon I went to the stylists were too nervous to do any slightly drastic change with my hair. I'd ask for a completely new color (within reason) and they'd just darken or lighten a few shades. I knew what I was asking could be labor intensive, but it's not impossible...I'm willing to pay the price tag for it, but every stylist I'd been to over the course of the last year just didn't want to.
That is, until I found Rachael. I sat down and told her I wanted to go from a dark brown to a cool blond (not an easy task) and instead of cringing or trying to talk me out of it, she just said, "Ok." She explained to me that it would be a long service and went over the extra cost, which was surprisingly reasonable. For this type of service I spent a good 4+ hours in the salon, and it was a completely pleasant experience. Everyone was friendly, and even people who weren't helping me would ask if I wanted a drink. Rachael would check in every once in a while and make sure my hair was coming along ok. She was very sweet and polite. In the end we achieved my blond and it was surprisingly still relatively healthy and shiny.
I'm very happy I finally found Laicale and Rachael and I've highly recommended both to most of my friends.

I recently moved to New York and my hair was totally not used to the humidity so it kept fizzing all the time and driving me crazy. I didn't want to hurt it chemically so I asked my stylest, Rachel, what to do about it and she told me that a brazilian relaxer would do the trick. It totally straightened my hair and actually made it smoother. I was running late for something and she understood and did it as quickly as she could. It is kinda a long process, but if you hair is frizzy it is totally worth it. Rachel also managed to make a horrid cowlick on the back of my head look normal--an accomplishment no one else has been able to do. You should go here for sure. I have not compared a lot of prices, but the relaxer is cheaper than a couple other places I have looked at.

It also started to rain right as I was leaving (you can't get your hair wet after) and the receptionist gave me a little plastic bonnet to keep my hair dry---very classy!!

the GREEN HAIR RECEPTIONIST! gives HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! she keeps changing my appoints ....i forgot if it was 2:15 or 2 and when i came in she gave me an EVIL EYE! soon enough EVERYONE RACHEL AND ROSELINA gave me a look. MADE ME UNCOMFORTABLE IVE SPENT OVER 220$ for a s----- f---- service. WTF? this is a recession ladies.... you should do your best to STOP GIVING THAT LOOK AND try your best to do your jobs.

She doesnt even talk to me while my hair was toned she was talking to her work friends I felt as if she ignored me. Did not check up on me often. I also noticed she was starting to work on the next customer. I felt as if I had the wrong colorist.

AFTER my hair was blowdrying (NOT DONE YET!!!!) RACHEL moved on to the next person. WTF? I felt cheated of paying $220 plus tips for RACHEL TO MOVE TO THE next person without finishing the job.

I had waive hair but when the humidity hits it would get very frizzy and unmanageable. Nothing could help my bang's I just had to live with it. Until I went to Fasial at Laicale. He suggested the Brazilian Relaxer which we did and it changed my life. No more worrying about frizzy messy hair; now it always looks perfect. The best part is I don't need product just blow-dry and go. Faisal is amazing, very meticulous!!! I love Liacale and all there stylist but Fasial is the best at hair straightening and much more.

I have been seeing Jesse for about three years now and every time i go I have an amazing experience. He was very helpful when i decided to change up my style (I got bangs!) and color. My highlights are always perfectly natural looking. He will also trim bangs for free between cuts which is amazing. I highly recommend you see him.

I live in the area and happened to walk in one day on a whim to get a haircut. They actually had an appointment, and I was lucky enough to get Rachael as my stylist. She was so sweet and gave the best haircut I've ever had. I will definitely be back again.

Sara is such a talented hairstylist!! I have been going to Sara for two years and I have always been very happy the way she cut and colored my hair. What I like so much about her is that she is listening to your needs but at the same time has many creative ideas herself. She understands exactly which type you are and which cuts look best on you. I was recommended to Jesse by a friend who has a fantastic haircut and now I will go to no one else. Jesse cuts and highlights my hair and he never disappoints. And I have been to many NYC salons. I initially went to him just for a cut, but I loved the haircut so much that I thought I would try out color. And now I'm hooked. He immediately makes you comfortable and listens to all your concerns, no matter how small they may be. Despite his relaxed attitude, he is meticulous about the details of your cut. And my color has never looked better; so natural. I would highly recommend Jesse.

Hello I strongly suggest Laicale Salon...since I went there the first time 3 years ago I never thought to go somewhere else...all the staff is very very good and so cool! Sara is my favourite indeed...she makes such splendid cuts and she always suggests the best for me...she is even very cool and stylish also...Laicale is really a good spot and for what they offer they are very very fair...even my girlfriend goes always there since I told her about Laicale and she gets very along with Sara to...Fabrizio is very very good too, he is another cool character and very professional...anyway, you'll see!!!

I keep going to see Sara at Laicale because she is such a fantastic stylist. I can stongly recommend her, if you want to stick with your look or whether you want to change your look, she listens to you and does what you want. The cut is always perfect and she is such a specialist in colors. I decided to dye my BLACK hair into red and she would do it and it looked amazing. My bob is always perfectly cut and also my bangs always have the perfect length. Go to Sara!! She is the BEST!!

I used to relax my hair with the Japanese relaxers, which made my hair stick straight, but very dry, but now I started to see Faisal for the Brazilian relaxer and it's amazing! My hair is still soft after the treatment, and even though it's not as straight as I had it with Japanese (has a little wave to it), it still looks great and is easy to manage. I recommend for anyone like me with crazy frizzies or unmanageable curls.

This is probably the WORST salon I've ever been to in my life! No, in fact, it IS THE WORST.
My hair literally fell out of my head, and what's worse, I wasn't sure when it was going to stop! Even though it happened at the salon they weren't apologetic and only offered my money back. To this day, the quality of my hair still isn't the same. I'm used to high end salons like oscar blondi and this place should close it's doors.
Ladies, STAY AWAY from this place!! Or go if you're looking to lose a lot of hair...

Sara Fiumicelli is the most amazing colorist ever. I was using other salons' services for years until I found her. Now I could never ever go to anyone else! She intuitively knows exactly which sunny shade of blond to make my hair look completely natural from season to season. I don't even have to say a word and she knows already what is going to look best on me. When I first went to her, my hair was a wreck- she fixed every problem in one session! Last time I went to her for color, I decided to have her cut it as well. The result was better than perfect- I know that I will not have to have another cut for a while. And I also know that I will now be using her for my cuts!! She is an amazing superstar hairdresser. BRAVA SARA!

I have gotten my haircut by Chie and Takako and they both did an excellent job. Chie cut my hair originally (long to to VERY short) and she relaxed it. She did a Great job and I constantly got compliments about how s*xy I looked. Eight weeks later Chie was on vacation so the receptionist suggested I make an appt with Takako, I was concerned at first because it had taken me so long to find a stylist who could actually give me a s*xy funky short cut but to my surprise Takako did an amazing job--some of my friends/family think she did better than Chie!! if you have thin hair or a short cut that you want to maintain Chie and Takako are your girls!! They are worth every penny.

Ryan has cut my hair a few times now, and I have left Laicale super pleased with my look each time. He takes time to find out exactly what you're looking for, and pays great attention to detail. I somehow find his haircuts to be really relaxing, despite the noise and bustle of the busy salon. I also enjoy how they answer the phone, the cheery "bonna sera" makes appointment making fun.

I was just seeing barbers for the longest time, but was a little tired of the in-n-out of that after awhile. After exploring all my options, I settled on Jesse at Laicale from a friend's recommendation, and am really pleased with the outcome. He pays close attention to what you ask for and offers the suggestions only an attentive professional can do. Initially I wanted something very different than what I really needed and he worked with me to make it the best haircut I've ever had, and really easy for me to managed day-to-day. In fact, he noticed how I was interacting with my hair and made a slight correction to how it was falling to make it easy as pie to keep me looking my best.

On top of that, the salon operates like a finely-tuned machine. I tend to plan my visits in the middle of the day so I can have the relaxation it provides blend with the rest of my day. It makes going back to a stressful office actually pleasant.

Seriously! I've been coloring a cutting my hair a million different ways for years, and it always look good, never great or outstanding. My ends were always a little fried and my hair was always a little lackluster and dull. Not after Laicale! I didn't think it was physically possible for my hair to be this shiny. I conceded to cut a little more off than I was originally comfortable with, but it was so worth it to see how healthy my hair is now, all those fried ends are gone. I also have perfect sun kissed highlights, very subtle but still noticeable. And I got the color retention shampoo and conditioner, which keeps my hair soft and super shiny, and should keep my highlights from fading (and also makes it smell like a pina colada so I can pretend I'm on the beach sipping cocktails instead of at work.) Thanks Laicale!

I have coming to Laicale for about 2 years now. I used to go to Arrojo but soon realized that place was like a factory and it's not all it's cracked up to be.

I've seen a few different people in my time here and I can't say I've been disappointed. Most recently I've seen Ryan for my color and Robert for my cut. They both know my hair so well its gotten to the point I don't have to say anything they just know what to do and I am always happy! I used to dream of having a stylist who knows me so well I don't have to tell them what to do.
I got so hooked I convinced my husband to go here and he sees Takako and for a guy who used to see a barber he now refuses to go to anyone but her.
The front desk girls are always so helpful whenever I need to schedule so if you're looking for something new you should try this place!
