I decided to try this spa because I wanted to find a neighborhood place to relax. I think I found the best spa! Welcoming, warm and easy I just love them. I booked online, had really nice steam and then one of the best facials I have ever

my first call to the Spa was a diffinate indication of what i might expect. I was apprehensive about not going into the city for treating my partner for her birthday. The staff was so inviting over the phone. When we arrived I was a few

When I walked to the front desk to request my wax and facial, Bridget, which would later be the one who did both, was very pleasant and warm. I didn't need an appointment and I found this out ahead of time. I called the spa first to make sure. I was told I'd have to wait if there were clients with appointments which was fine with me. After my treatments were set up, I was then offered tea which was a plus in hospitality! When I walked to the back of the spa where the rooms were, there were couches and pillows and a coffee table all set up very tastefully. Bridget set out a couple of magazines that might interest me as I waited for her to set my room up. I drank my tea and mentally prepared for my wax :)
Bridget was fast and made me feel comfortable. She did a great job waxing. The facial was very relaxing. My face felt very clean and as thought it could breathe. A hand massage was given as well.
There is a place to eat close by if you like wings. Its called Atomic Wings and it's down the block on Smith St.

For my bridal shower we choose a spa day for my friends and I. We each had a massage and facial. We had to go down the street for mani's and pedi's. At first that bothered me, until I remembered how smelly nail salons are.

We brought in food from a local Japanese restaurant. We had the whole spa to ourselves! In between treatments we talked and ate. I opened my presents, we talked and laughed with no need to feel bad about other people in the spa.

The facialist gave me a plan so that I can have great skin for my wedding. She recommended getting a facial without extraction the week before my wedding, I never thought of that!

The massage was the best. By the time we were done I had forgotten I had other things to do.

I might bring my fiance here for a massage in the same room.

I have been to to many spas and Providence Day Spa is best. The steam room is private, what a treat!. LOVE IT. My massage was amazing. It was quiet, relaxing and deep tissue. I have been to several spas in Manhattan that are much more expensive. Providence Day Spa is the best and at great price.

This was the BEST massage and facial anywhere! I am so happy they are in Brooklyn so I can walk home afterward.

Pros: Best massage. My favorite place for facials.

Cons: I couldn't stay longer

I just walked in the other day and asked if I could get a massage. I have back pain most of the time.

I got a 60 minute massage with a masseuse named Mika and I haven't had any pain in over a week! I asked if I could just walk in all the time and they said is was always worth a shot.

I sat in the lounge afterward and read a book. When i walked out, I realized I had forgotten I was on Atlantic Avenue!

I'll be back, hopefully before my back pain returns.

Pros: They lined me up with the right masseuse

Cons: not a drawback to be found

Not expensive, but definitely upscale. Great massage. The facials have changed my life.

I have been coming here for years. Massage, facials, steam, even when I was pregnant.

I just went back 3 weeks after having a baby. When I booked a massage and told them I just had a baby, they asked of I wanted to bring her! YES! That made my life easier. They said as long as i came before 3 on a weekday they'd let her come AND even leave some extra time for me in case I had to nurse, which I did.

They said the baby could come until she is 3 months old, or longer is she is mellow.

I felt so taken care of. She napped in her car seat in the room so I felt very comfortable and even fell asleep myself. The massage was great! I didn't realize how much my arms hurt from holding her. Then, when she woke up I nursed and she slept on my tummy until the massage was over.

I could have put her down, but didn't want to. It was so sweet.

My girlfriend and I had a private steam shower followed by a massage in the same room. The steam was really nice because I don't like public steam rooms. The masseuses were great. We both really like massage but I hate going someplace new and getting a bad massage.

The front desk told us that if the people we had weren't deep enough we should let them know. When we were done, they asked us if the massages were what we needed. Oh Yeah! They were!!

Hey, they don't sell croissants! What do you mean?
I was just sent there by my husband for a massage and facial treat! I had the foot scrub and the eye treatment.

I feel so taken care of. The front desk was sweet, and British (not snobby, just Brittish LOL). They gave me hot tea before I steamed.

The massage was done by a woman who really knew what she is doing. She wrote down her tips for me.

The facial was unlike any I have ever had, great for my skin and relaxing too. I have a lot of extractions that need to be done, so for a facial to be good and relaxing is rare for me.

You'd never know from the outside that this spa is the nicest in the neighborhood. Once your in the lounge it feels so homey.

Now that I found a place that is as good as anything in Manhattan and much less expensive, I am a happy Brooklynite!

I had a lovely massage w/ 2 "mini indulgences" yesterday. My Masseuse, Christine, was great and I enjoyed the steam shower before the massage too. Only one thing prevents me from giving 5 stars. The massage was a gift from my husband. I arrived in plenty of time, gave the receptionist (very pleasant person) the certificate, filled out paperwork etc and all was efficient and fine. When I was all done w/ my spa treatment and ready to go, a different receptionist really "harshed my mellow'! She didn't want to let me leave before she checked that my certificate was in the system. Well the 1st desk person did that before I went in and they had over an hour to get their ducks in a row, but no. It was like she was saying - wait - let me make sure you aren't trying to con us before i let you leave - smooth - really smooth... not. By the way - all was in order. And the massage was fine - just unprofessional behavior at the front desk at the finish...

I walked into the establishment and asked for a brochure and the lady at the front desk informed me that there were no more brochures and I should check the website and but she never told me the name of the website and how could you assume. Very pretentious and I will never spend my money there!! Businesses are closing everywhere around them you would figure that they would be nicer!

Why go to this place where the people will treat you like you are worth nothing... There are so many other spas around. Try the Art of Natural Beauty Spa, Tres Bella Spa, Smith Street Spa. Go anywhere but to this place if you actually want to relax and be treated with respect.

Here's a trick to save a little money! Get the facial and a 30 minute massage. The facials have sooo much massage in them it's like you had a full 60 minute massage by the time youre done. It's not like they are skimping on the facial either. The facialists use the downtime when you are steaming or masking to really rub your feet, hands, calves, arms and scalp. The scalp massage is a-m-a-z-i-n-g. So, book the massage first, end with the facial and it feels like you were there for hours, and you save a little money. I'm totally happy to have found this place!

I've had some odd looks and uncomfortable stares in other spas when going in for treatments with my partner. I guess even in NYC people are still ignorant from time to time. Not so at this spa. When we came in no one blinked. No one asked stupid questions obviously trying to determine if we are indeed a couple. Everyone was warm and gracious. My partner and I were able to relax without feeling like the "main attraction". We each had a massage and body scrub. The treatments were way better than most places I have been. The practitioners were professional and friendly. **I would recommend this place to anyone looking for high quality treatments at a fair price, done by true professionals.

If you're willing to have your needs as a customer/patient come last--this is the place to go!

I'm saying this after having given Providence Day Spa the benefit of the doubt for many months. The practitioners here are very knowledgable, the atmosphere is simple but pleasant--that's why I've held out this long. But unfortunately a professional attitude is sorely lacking.

Not only did my Spa Week massage get cancelled--the respective front desk employee fired--rescheduled, and then cancelled again--less than an hour before appointment time on a Friday morning because owner and therapist Providence did not "want to come in for a spa massage because she needed to prepare for Shabbat." (There is a 24 hour cancellation period for clients).

I had been coming in for accupuncture treatements with Laura Gabbe for about 9 months. At the start of treatment, I had been told that to be effective, treatement had to occur at least once a week. Then Laura had a family emergency, and two consecutive appointments were cancelled. Going through a family emergency myself, I was (and continue) to be very sympathetic.

What I would have considered appropriate professional demeanor is a call from Laura or the spa management telling me what effect the treatment interruption would have, if any--and provide me with the name of a practitioners who could continue the treatment--as well as the records of my previous sessions.

Instead, I was told by the owner and the staff that they felt uncomfortable contacting Laura, were waiting for her to call in, had no access to her records etc.--and was chided for not being sufficiently understanding.

I'm still astounded that a place designed to make you feel good can make you so bad.

I would have expected this course of events from a contractor or a company like Verizon--not from a place dedicated to wellness and healing.

Not a fan of the place itself, but the steam shower is amazing. As in full on great. For $25 you can use it for like 20 minutes without getting a massage.

I have had facials at a few places in Brooklyn and a couple in Midtown too. I tend to enjoy them and really see a difference in my skin after a good facial. However, I have never had a facial that compares to Providence Spas. They do a lot of massage during the facial, waaay more than most. The facialists are nurturing and relaxing. The smells are so good. Even my facialists voice relaxed me. So, not only do they do a fabulous job of cleaning and treating my skin... They relax me in much the same was a massage would. This place is a diamond in the rough.

My boyfriend has a saying. It's "PDS for PMS". As much as this is an annoying gingle on his part, it's still funny and telling. PDS stands for Providence Day Spa, and I always go here to unwind. They give the best bodywork ever and a facial that makes me glow for days. And, I come home a nicer person, every time. ;o)

The people who work at this spa are always smiling. I know thats a weird thing to mention, but it's just not the norm for brooklyn. Everytime I go there, it's like I have left jaded and hostile new york behind and landed in some happier. Its peaceful, relaxing, nice and a great change of pace.

I'm getting married and took my husband-to-be here for a massage because we're both stressed out. He loved it so much that he made me an appointment for the works. Facial, massage and a scrub. This all started in September and we have each been back at least once since then. The stress of planning this wedding has destroyed my skin, and the woman who does my facials has really helped get it back in shape. The massages are keeping us from running away to Vegas... This place has saved my marriage and I'm not even married yet.

I'm trying to be more "green". Taking the train more, remembering to recycle everything, things like that. I happened on this place while looking for a local place for waxing and facials. It did not even crpss my mind to be looking for a spa that's eco-friendly. How cool is this? The wax is made of soy and hurt less than other's I have had. The facial products are all organic and edible. I guess if I get stuck on the train for too long I can grab that bottle of moisturizer outta my purse to keep my bloodsugar up. ;-) Seriously, the facial was one of the best I have ever had. Even the smells of this place were amazing. The facialist was not your ususal newyork-salon-type. She was able to talk to me about my skin and the products she was using in an intelligent and understandable way. I feel excited about how my skin looks, happy to have found an eco-friendly spa, and educated about my skin. Can't say enough about how great this place is.

I got a gift certificate to try this spa. It is the best present I have received in years. I had one of the "spa packages" they offer but can't remember what it was called. It came with a facial with some sort of foot exfoliation and a head/hair treatment. I also had an aromatherapy massage and a steam. I have never felt so relaxed and taken-care-of in my whole adult life. People that work so hard to make their customers feel that wonderful deserve an open letter of thanks. That's what this is. Thank you Providence Day Spa. I will be back soon.

Great prices, great staff and fabulous massages. Atmosphere is very relaxed, and not to stuffy. They often even have last minute appointments! Beats going to manhattan!
Ask to work with Mara or Jennifer! Also, the weekly specials are great. They use all natural products for their facials and the staff seems to be really knowledgeable. It is a very comforting/ homey place to go when you need to relax!

I guess I have always thought of myself as a spa-snob. I want my spa escape to be high-end, over the top posh. So, when I was invited to a "spa party" for a friend's wedding... Let's just say I was skeptical.

It was the most wonderful spa experience I have ever had. And trust me, I've had quite a few. The facialist was so kind, honest and knowledgeable. She was upfront about the fact that I have pretty good skin. She told me a few at-home tricks to help with the issues I do have. She also explained the reasons behind the use of certain products and why she recommended the things she did. But, she didn't try to push them on me. She even said that she didn't want me to feel pressured! Also, the facial had a ton of massage in it and the woman never left the room even once!

So, after that amazing facial I had a massage. It was absolute bliss! Again, another really nice and knowledgeable person. After the massage, she gave me tips on how to stretch so that I won't build up so much tension. I left there a puddle of mush and took the best four hour nap of my life when I got home!

Pros: Amazing. Quiet. Talented staff.

Cons: Difficult parking. Lounge area needs updating.

I really hate giving bad reviews, but the facial I got at this spa was LAME. Two stars is generous. There were hardly any extractions at all and she skipped the electronic zapper tool afterwards-- not sure why. She talked incessantly about their other services and about how I should switch from the makeup I was using (that I had very good results with) to the line they had just started carrying, even though she couldn't even recall the name of the ingredient she was so avidly against. The most irritating part was that she sprayed some kind of oil on my face to massage my face after it was done--- which would have been great if I had come in to get a massage, but that's not why I pay to get facials. Plus the oily coat left on my skin made me wonder what the point was. Overall I left with my face feeling dirty instead of cleansed of impurities. I don't know why I decided to try this place when I usually go to Smith Street spa and they do an outstanding job. Bottom line, massage might be amazing there, but for professionalism and a thorough job in terms of facials, i'd DEFINITELY skip this place.

Pros: nice ambient light

Cons: unprofessional, overly sales-pitchy, lack of knowledge

I recently took my girlfriend here for a couples massage, and we had a wonderful time. Both of our therapists were attentive and skilled.

We were unavoidably late by a few minutes because of the difficulty finding a parking spot on Atlantic Ave.. The desk staff told us we might have to miss a few minutes of massage time, but that they would try to get us our entire massage time. They got us our entire time, and were cheerful about it.

We'll definitely be going back here.

I sent my girlfriend here for a massage, and it was wasted money and time. She complained that the room was cold, and they did nothing about it- it's hard to relax when you are cold. She asked the masseuse twice during the massage to go more deep-tissue- but the masseuse wouldn't (or couldn't). My girlfriend's feet were not touched during the entire massage, and even though she told the masseuse at the beginning that she had a hip problem, the masseuse didn't work on her hips. My girlfriend goes to yoga regularly, so it doesn't take a miracle massage to do the trick- Providence just didn't deliver a quality product. There are other spas around the area that charge basically the same price, but give you a much better product.

This is a really fabulous place, and the owner givies an amazing deep-tissue massage. They're really attentive to whatever you need and the facials are great also--the extractions were incredibly delicate but still thorough and they use really great products on your skin. The facialists are extremely attentive and never leave the room; instead, they rub your head, neck, shoulders, arms, and feet. I've had facials at much more "fancy" spas--Georgette Klinger, etc--where the facialist was incredibly inattentive and the facial mediocre. Also, no sales pressure at ALL which was such a welcome change from most facials. There was only one down side--for Christmas, my boyfriend and I came in to buy gift certificates for some family members, in all planning to book over $400 worth of treatments. We'd both gone for Spa Week and had 10% off coupons, and he asked if he could use them when booking the gift certificates, or if he could get a small gift thrown in, and the guy at the desk said no way no how. It seemed a bit odd, since at other places especially if you're willing to spend the money they try to go a little out of their way to give something back, especially if you're a regular customer (I've been about once a month, and he's come with me a few times as well). Other than that, the services were really fabulous and the masseuses and facialists were incredibly considerate and attentive.

Cons: that one weird thing (see above)

Providence Day Spa is in a great location and has a great feel so I decided to give their massages a second chance after a mediocre first experience. Unfortunately, the second message was pretty average as well. I asked for deep tissue and received a good rub but no deep tissue. At the end, I felt like the message therapist was wasting time - she scratched my head for the last 5 minutes (felt nice I guess but not what I was coming for...). Happened to be paying when the store owner was around and when she asked me how it was, my response of 'ok' disappointed her and she gave me 25% off of the massage, which was nice. Seems like a great place that hasn't hired the top therapists.

I went to Providence during Spa Week; it's near my apartment in BK, so I didnt have to commute too far for my morning massage. I've been to numerous spas in NYC over the years and I've learned not to expect too much out of massages.

I had a Swedish massage and reflexology at Providence and it was by far the best massage I've had, EVER! The therapist (Rachel) asked me what areas I was having problems with before she started and since it was a 30 min massage she concentrated on those areas mostly. She applied just the right amount of pressure and I walked out 100% relaxed. I could swear that my posture was better without all that tension I usually carry around!

The staff was friendly and the atmosphere very nice. My only complaint would be that I wished I was in a room in the back of the spa. The room I was in was in front, so I heard all the noise from the front/reception area.

I definitely plan to go back in the future.
