We went here today and it was so busy we had to wait outside until people left. They were standing out there w/a counter. Once we got in we were disappointed that there were no plaques on most of the artifacts. The only way to find out about them was to use the free audio tour (which didn't talk about every piece) or buy a book for $2 more than admission. The artwork and architecture were amazing though! The audio tour took us 2.5 hours to get through, even though the lady told us it would only take an hour. Definitely worth checking out if you like old paintings, furniture, statues and homes - all in good condition. There is a gift shop, but no food/snack area.

Although this collection of paintings is smaller than the one at the Metropolitian Museum of Art, the quality of the paintings is just as good or even better. Some of the better artists include Rembrant, and El Greco. The atnosphere is also nice.

Located near Hunter College, the Frick Gallery is a rather well-kept secret. Housing many famous paintings, including Holbein's renditions of Thomases More and Cromwell and a variety of Fragonard murals, the Frick Gallery is beautiful inside and out.

I went on a whim this Fall and was extremely impressed with both the scope and grandeur of the collection, and the "perks." With the price of admission, patrons receive a free audio tour delivered through headphones. If you are able to visit the Frick Gallery, do so. It will be a wonderful experience.

The Frick collection is truly a wonderful art collection - it is classical art that ranges in many ways. This is a beautiful collection of work housed in a Manhattan mansion that makes the art experince intimate and enjoyable. This is a lovely place for a date in that is easy to talk, stroll and not be tired after seeing it all. It is a museum that is a nice secret as it does not get as crowded as any other museum.

One of the lesser known museums in New York, the Frick collection is one of my favorite places to visit when I'm not in the mood for a huge museum to wade through,

Located in a lovely old mansion built back in 1913 just being in the building affords a look at what life must have been like back then

The collection features antiques, sculptures and decorative art that in itself would be a find but the paintings are outstanding as well, with works by Monet, Gainsborough, Vermeer and Frans Hal just to name a few. One of my favorite collections is the incredible display of Limoge porcelian pieces, any one of which would be welcomed in my own collection..:)

Located in the upper East side on Museum row ..Open every day except Monday

PROS: Very doable in a short time..wonderful collections to see
CONS: none

This small museum is a wonderful diversion from the Met. Rarely crowded, this is a great spot for grown-up art lovers.

The museum is housed in an old estate home. The permanent collection is wonderful and the small outdoor garden is a nice spot to reflect and let the art sink in to your soul.

The museum is very manageable and can be visited in a few hours.

The Frick Collection is a wonderful museum! I can't believe I didn't visit it in my previous trips to NYC. Be sure to use the audio tour available for free when you enter the museum. It enhanced my understanding of both the individual paintings and how they are displayed in the Frick mansion. I only wish other musuems provided as good an experience as the Frick Collection.

This should be the first museum on everyone's list. A great way to orientate yourself to the museum experience. It's like walking thru your first Art History book. Don't miss the special exhibits downstairs. I've never seen a boring one in 20 years.

This is an oasis in the middle of Manhattan. From the moment you walk into the museum/mansion your propelled back in time to a kinder gentler era. The fountain in the middle of the house only adds to the ambience. The smaller size of the museum lends itself to a more cozy atmosphere. A definte must see.

The Frick Collection has wonderful paintings from incredible painters in a beautiful mansion. It is a wonderful way to spend the afternoon without the bustle of the larger museums. It is a romantic place-perfect for a date with the one you love!

Would recommend to anyone. It has one of the best collections. Small museum, and has the European ambiance. Looked and felt like the one I went to in Rome. Would recommend. Great museum, special thanks to Mrs. Frick's collection.

The intimate atmosphere lets your mind quiet down to explore the collection. Spend some time with works by Vermeer and Corot.
