My favorite place to stay in NYC!

by Ann K. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 7,241

I love the Michelangelo, it's a beautiful hotel. I travel to NYC often and this is my first choice of hotels. It's elegant but comfortable and is in a great location. You can walk to Times Square or Rockefeller Center easily.

Nothing special at all

by Madeleine P. | top100 Top100 | Rank: 54

The Michelangelo is a ritzy hotel in the big apple that caters to people who are looking for a flashy place to stay. If you are more concerned with substance and true character then I think that you will opt for a different hotel. This place has a nice look on the outside but no real heart.

In love!!!!

My wife and I celebrated our honeymoon in New York the week of May 23rd and we cannot speak highly enough about our experience at The Michelangelo Hotel. We both did a lot of research before choosing our hotel and we decided that The Michelangelo was the best overall choice for our trip. I know there have been several reviews indicating that the hotel's staff was unfriendly and even sometimes rude but that was not our experience at all. We were greeted by a very friendly doorman (Cesar) and the check-in attendants were polite and accomodating. We received a free upgrade on our room, which was a nice treat.

We stayed on the fifth floor in a corner room, away from the hustle and bustle... overlooking 51st street. The room was clean, quiet, and very large (especially for a NYC room). There was plenty of room for our clothes and the bathroom was roomy. The two items that I really judge a hotel room by are the shower and the bed. The Michelangelo did not disappoint- the bed was extremely comfortable and the sheets were quite soft. We had chilly weather the week we were in New York (nights dropped below 40 degrees F) and the bed was very warm. The shower was pretty nice too. The water pressure was great but the shower head left me wanting more (only two settings... stream and massage). The hot water stayed hot for me and my wife's showers. We had a slight issue the first night there in that a fuse blew out in the bathroom. We made a quick call downstairs to the front desk and the fuse was reset in less than 5 minutes (now that's service!). The turndown service was alright, I'm not that picky about things like that... so we only took advantage two nights. The breakfast in the morning was lacking... continental breakfast with coffee, tea, juices, and an assortment of pastries (muffins, danishes, etc.). There are dozens of great breakfast places within walking distance if you are in the mood for something different.

The Michelangelo Hotel's biggest highlight is its locatio
