3 Stars: Jacks 99 Cents Store (by Christine C.)

Good quality items at bargain prices. However, you can spend quite a bit of time waiting on line just to purchase a few knick knacks for the house. So, if you don't mind long lines, then this is a great place: great variety of items and above all else there are great deals.

3 Stars: Discount haven (by Shri J.)

They are more of a discount store than a 99 cent store, but their selection is very decent. One can pick up good deals here for very cheap, such as vases, picture frames, kitchenware, brooms, party-ware such as disposable plates, utensils, etc. It is also great place to get cheap gifts such as stocking stuffers.

3 Stars: A huge 99 cents store spanning almost a block (by Anna C.)

This store is located right near the Manhattan mall which might explain why it is always crowded. It is a huge store consisting of two floors, but the 99 cents items are only located on the first floor. They have an assortment of things ranging from frozen food to electronics all for 99 cents hence the name. I'm sure if you looked hard enough you would find a few things you really needed, but I feel that it isn't worth the hassle since it is very hard to navigate the store with all the people. I found 2 items I wanted to purchase only I had to wait on line for 40 minutes just to buy it. It definitely wasn't worth the time. The second floor had an assortment of electronics, toys and other household items, but the prices didn't really stand out to me.

4 Stars: Save Money (by William L.)

Jack's is a great 99cent store. They sell alot of good quality items and for items priced over 99cent they put that all on the second floor so people don't get confused. They have tons of stuff for the home and even food! I am a little hestiant about getting 99cent food, but I always check the expiration date. The is huge so be prepared to spend some time in there looking around.

3 Stars: Bargain hunter's paradise (by Mihir J.)

Located at Herald Square, this block spanning 99 cent store has two levels. On the lower level most items are about 99 cents, and range from gift tins to plastic tumblers, everything you'd find in a discount store. On the upper level you'll find very cheap gifts, kitchenware, toys, snacks, housewares, and more. The staff is helpful if you can manage to track one of the down. The store is very crowded, so be prepared for that.

PROS: Cheap goods
CONS:

4 Stars: Jack's Home Base - a great store (by Jiya S.)

The 32nd street branch of Jack's is their flagship store and it is a great place to look for bargains. They always have name brand merchandise and a wide selection, all available at 99 cents. The upper floor is the "discount" store level, with prices beyond 99 cents but still great deals.

4 Stars: Great store (by David T.)

Great store, absolutely great! They live by their name because almost everything from their store really is 0.99 cents. Well, everything on the lower level at least. They have a seperate section upstairs with merchandise that's over 0.99 cents, but they keep it seperate so people do not confuse the stuff.

This store offers everything from sunglasses, meats, drinks, ice cream, to even hardware supplies. It's great and cheap. The products are not all generic, some are actual quality brands. Their stuff is not expired either. Everything is quality.

PROS: cheap prices
CONS: crowded

4 Stars: Bargain garlore (by Sheryln S.)

The name of the store speaks for itself, but what distinguishes this store from the rest of the 99cents stores is its sheer variety. It has the biggest selection of items in New york city, I believe. In addition, second floor sells household merchanise at excellent value. It has several locations. The 32rd street location is always crowded. Go to the 42nd street if you prefer less crowd. If not for the crowd and its less than wonderful cashiers ( some are pitifully slow) I would give it 5 stars.
