As a new client of Dr. Gerber I could not have been more pleased with my first visit. He took time with my pupppie, answered all of my questions and the entire staff was awesome. A great first experience. I never look forward to a vet visit, but at least will not dread my next...

As the owner of a long-time client of Gerber Animal Hospital and Dr. Mroziak specifically, I can say without reservation that there is no other hospital I would allow to treat my dog - and I have been to others. This is a VERY busy practice. Though they have a high volume of clients, Dr. Mroziak, Dr. Gerber and staff are very thorough in their handling of each appointment and provide a level of professionalism that puts me and my dog at ease. The staff genuinely cares about their clients and owners and have been nothing but helpful and courteous. While some may not care for an automated phone system, the fact is that this practice is one of a limited number that serves the Niagara Falls area. In addition to their regular clients, they routinely provide free care and treatment to animals that are carelessly thrown away by irresponsible, abusive and neglectful owners. While they are not currently taking on new clients, I highly recommend this practice for their dedication to their clients and the practice of Veterinary Medicine.

I have to concur with the two, unfortunate, negative reviews below and the very thoughtful and true review at: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=gerber+small+animal+hospital&um=1&ie=UTF-8&ei=Q5KGTNbIGcGclgeX4sTEDg&sa=X&oi=mode_link&ct=mode&ved=0CAcQ_AU

What was once a good place to take your animals for care has become unacceptable. The staff are rude, incompetent at even the most basic of tasks and can't seem to even answer the phone.

Most people might not know, but Niagara Falls, and Western New York writ large, has been experiencing unprecedented, yet long overdue, mass depopulation; accordingly, Gerber, and many other businesses are experiencing a drop in customers--I've noticed a precipitous drop in the waiting room over the years. So, why an automated phone system then? All the other local vet offices seem to be able to answer their phones.

I agree that Dr. Hartwick and Dr. Gerber are both very fine veterinarians, but there has got to be a limit to what I will put up with just to make an appointment!

We used to go to Gerbers with our other dog. I called today to schedule an appt. for our new little dog and was told that they wouldn't be taking anymore new dogs and when I was asking her what I should do she hung up on me. Gerbers is not #1 in our book anymore. Terrible customer service!!!!

I was taking my dog to them, But, now they don't even have our dog registered anymore. they also inform us that they are no longer taking care of customers other than those who have been going there at least 20 years. They were a good place to trust with your dogs' health and care, but something happened.

Dr. Gerber provides quality care to pets but does more than the ordinary vet. He is always willing to take college students for internships to explore their career options. He and his staff provide low cost spaying and neutering and are active in recovering cats from the wild. This is a practice with a big heart and it provides a valuable service to the community.

Try this out. Call (716) 297-8123 right now, providing it's during normal business hours, and see how the phone is answered. Did you try it? A machine answers the phone, every time you call, and you are prompted to leave a message with the suggestion that they will return your call within 24-48 hours! I've had such great experience with Dr. Melissa Mroziak-Hartwick that I was willing to leave a message, and another and then another. I finally pressed 1, for "emergencies" only, several days after my, yet another, phone call and spoke with one of the administrative staff and was informed that I, "must leave a message and they will eventually (sic) return my call." Now, the administrative staff have largely been rude and generally incompetent every time I've been there--including, *gasp*, when they actually answered the phone to schedule an appointment, but I've always tolerated this behavior in order to see Dr. Mroziak-Hartwick. By-the-way, Dr. Gerber, and there's occasionally another doctor there, are both ok; yet, certainly NOT worth the hassle from the admin. staff and/or this new phone system. I wish I could report that my visit with the Lewiston Animal Hospital was worth returning to, but I can't. I will say the staff at the Lewiston vet are nice, answer the phone and the vet I saw was adequate. But as my dog is approaching 13 years, I now need more than a yearly "exam," a series of shots and a "have a nice day," and I get that from Dr. M-Hartwick, but that's not helping me now because Gerber Animal Hospital apparently doesn't want to take my money anymore! p.s. It seems I'm not the only one experiencing such unpleasantness: www.insiderpages [dot] com/b/3718597912/gerber-small-animal-hospital-niagara-falls

And Dr. Gerber isn't much better at returning inquiries. An e-mail sent to him on Sept. 7, 2010 has yet to be returned. Try it yourself: wagdvm@gmail dot com
