Winfield-Flynn has been established for fifty years now and has over two thousand different wines. Wines from Spain to New Zealand...you can have a sample of the wine tasting event every Thursday. Gift cards, wrapping, delivery, and custom label wines are also available upon request. You can't get this in many liquor stores. This is what's so great about New York.
PROS: Delivery, custom orders, gift wrapping, wine tasting

Very Personal Service

Wow, an old fashioned retailer in NYC ! They are open to 10PM and later on the weekends
They deliver for free and they have wine tastings on the weekends.
They have a very large selection of wines both name brands and their personal handpicked selections.
The staff is young and vibrant. One saleslady suggested a lovely wine for under $15.00 and she was right on the money. Yes, they have some very expensive items, but I think the majority is very popular priced and the sales clerks seem to know their stuff. They had a wondeful rose for about $13 that was yummy.
It is a very busy store, so I assume the wines don't get stale and dusty on the shelf.
And they hand out free doggie biscuits. A good reason toget a puppy!
Pros: Service,convenience, selection
Cons: too many items to choose from

Needs to stick with wholesale

I live right near this place and I try to avoid having to buy anything here at all costs. These folks are always mired in their $2,000+ orders from wealthy clients in California and people who are dumb enough to be paying a significant premium to put up with their pompous attitudes. I went in there once asking for something I had read about in The Wine Advocate and they acted as though I were an idiot to be inquiring about such a thing and that it didn't exist.... I don't by any means consider myself a wine expert, but I know the difference between a chablis and a chianti and I also know that I don't need to be paying to put up with people who don't give two cents about retail customers that aren't willing to fork out $200 for a bottle of wine for an everyday dinner... I'm sure they know their stuff - but there are plenty of places in NYC (McAdam Buy-Rite for one) that also know their stuff, have lower prices, and NO attitude about their trade.

I love Winfield. Small space but great selection. Really old school looking. The staff is just so kind and helpful. I love their liquor choices and the manager Patrick knows his stuff. I ask for him everytime. They are open late & usually Patrick has open bottles for tastings. They delivery locally for free and for a small fee if your a distance. Everytime im in the area I buy something for fun. I know whatever is suggested will be great.
Pros: Service & kindness
