How often can one say that a business, and the people that work there, exceeded ones hopes; surpassing ones expectations. Luckily for me, I can say that about Kevin, and of Harrys Auto Repair, 421 Meeker Ave. in Brooklyn. 917.421.0990.

My much trusted mechanic retired a little over a year ago and Ive tried 3 different auto repair shops since then. They were all ruled out due to unsatisfactory results, and in one instance, downright negligence. That said, youll understand why I am beyond happy to have stumbled across Kevin and his guys at Harrys Auto Repair; located in an interesting neighborhood close by to several cafes and shops, within walking distance to the subway.

I received a reverse terminal jump that led to a short in the system and illumination of the Check Engine Light. I saw Harrys mentioned in a review for another garage I was considering, and gave both a call. Only later did I discover that Harrys is recommended by Click and Clack, the Tappet Brothers of NPRs Car Talk.

Had the car at Harrys after 5PM on Tuesday, July 1 and explained the situation to Kevin. Didnt appear to be anything major, but as the July 4 holiday was near, the shop was especially busy with those trying to get away for the long weekend. Picking up Saturday, July 5 would not have been a problem, but I too had plans to get away; in celebration of my birthday on July 3.

Left the car with the hope theyd be able to make the necessary repairs by the morning of July 3. Heard from Kevin the next day (July 2), and learned that the Check Engine Light issue had been resolved, though there was a problem somewhere in the stereo preventing the sound system from functioning. I was relieved to learn that the car was safe to drive, though disappointed to learn that Id need to replace the stereo, yet grateful that Kevin was able to recommend a place nearby to do the replacement.

Picked up the car that afternoon; about 24 hours after Id left it, confident now that the car was safe for a trip that would take me out of cell phone reception, and AAA. I was surprised, and need I say happy, that though Harrys Auto Repair does not work on sound systems, one of the people that does work there has previous experience with sound systems, and was able to locate and fix the problem with my stereo. So not only was I able to confidently leave civilization, but I was able to do so with music, and in a hurry!

Truly, I cannot imagine a better experience; the work was done correctly, completed sooner than expected, and for much less money than anticipated. Sincere thanks to Kevin and the others at Harrys!

I've been going to Harry's for about 5 years now with two different cars. Harry and his staff are always friendly and fair and never do any unnecessary repairs. I've never felt as if the wool were being pulled over my eyes in any way, and I know absolutely nothing about cars. I wouldn't trust my car to anyone else.
