Today was my fourth time eating from this restaurant because I believe in giving places chances. The food is consistently unathethnic and sub-par. I ordered Pho and it did not come with a staple ingrediant which is lime. It came with lemon. I asked the waiter if there was lime and he was rude. Then I talked to someone behind the front desk, who was equally rude and dismissive. Then we left a small tip only to be chased down the street by the manager who demanded to know why we didnt tip more. This behavoir and was completely inappropriate and handled poorly. The management and waiter should have apologized, not justified the situation and acted as if the customer was wrong. I would NEVER eat here again not only because the food is medicore but because of the treatment I recieved. If you are looking for Authentic Pho don't come here. Also, Phad Thai is not vietnamese cuisine, its Thai cuisine and Lannan does a poor imitation of it.

Starving on a hot day and in the mood for Thai my friend and I walked past this restaurant and decided that Vietnamese would be a fine alternative. We were seated immediately and ordered our food rather quickly as well, and our waiter was very friendly and nice but told me not to order the dishes I did because he though it would be too much food for me, and then when I asked for white rice he said " I knew you would want that." Some people may find this harmless or nice, others will dislike it. I just laughed it off. The biggest problem was that our food took a very long to come, in fact a couple were seated at the table next to us perhaps 5-10 minutes after we were seated, and the man in the couple ordered the same exact dish that I ordered but he received his a good 20 minutes before I did. This was simply a little ridiculous and no apology or explanation was given for our slow food; however, once we did receive our food we were very pleased. Well seasoned, attractive, and good portions at a reasonable price ( tangy mango fish, tofu and vegetable dish, and steamed dumplings) I'd definitely come here again, but I'd hope the service would be faster.

I went there for lunch back in December and found the service terrible. Actually, I wouldn't even call it service. We were seated quickly and when I asked about the menu the waitor just brushed off my questions. No one asked us if everything was ok once the food arrived, for that matter, he didn't even ask if we wanted dessert or coffee or anything to drink. I wanted tea but our waitor seemed to complete avoid us. The worst service I've ever encountered! We only got the food, the bill and nothing else. Now as for the food, the only thing I can say is, stay home and eat a microwavable meal because it tastes the same as the chicken plate I ordered. Actually I think any frozen meal would be more edible than this. I would never return or recommend this restaurant to anyone!

Pros: Nice Decor

Cons: Food, Service

the place may not look like anything special, but decor aside the food and service are great! The ginger chicken has to be my favorite, but have tried many things on the menu and have never been truly let down. They also deliver the full menu which is great.

I have tried PHO at lanam many times. Food is ok but the service is bad. The only reason that keeps me go back is their home made ice cream. Unfortunately they serve factory ice cream instead. I hope that they will carry delicious ice cream soon. That will give me a reason to go

L'annam's initial appeal to me was that it was indoors, a relief from the muggy 95-degree day earlier this week. It quickly won me over for its actual offerings, though. I was pleasantly surprised to find several vegetarian curry dishes, where many Vietnamese and Thai restaurants only have one or two.

It's a bustling place, so there's not much time for pleasantries with the waitstaff. The benefit, though, is that the main course arrives within a handful of minutes.

First, the waiter seats the group that came in AFTER us because they were complaining. We finally sit down after waiting for 20 minutes. We order our food and a bottle of wine (which was really bad). We wait for an HOUR and realize that our food isn't here and the people that came in AFTER us already left. We ask the waiter about our food and he says that he "forgot" to put in our order. We talk to the manager and he offers a $3 discount, which was ridiculous after all the food and wine we ordered. We politely ask the manager if he could do anything else for us, and the manager starts yelling, "I'M THE OWNER, AND THAT WAS OUR DEAL." Infuriated, we pay and leave a penny for their unbelievable service. Then the waiter comes out after us and THROWS the penny at me in front of ALL the customers who had been waiting outside to get seated. Of course ALL of those customers left and swore to BAN this restaurant in disgust. What I'm wondering is, how the heck did this restaurant get Zagat's Top Restaurant Award? And the food? Barely mediocre.

Our food bags arrived dripping from the poor packaging inside. The food was barely edible. I know it's take-out, but this place does not deserve the glowing ratings it usually gets.

Pros: None

Cons: Bad food, poor presentation

The food was average. Nothing spectacular, nothing to rave about. I hardly remembered what I had eaten to be honest. I've eaten here twice & it was the same both times. They did accommodate our large party, so that was a plus & we went to Bar 13 right next door afterwards. But, if you want better Viet food, go to Chinatown, you will not be disappointed.

I loved Lannam (the one at University Pl) and would eat in or order out all the time. Every occasion I would bring people there because the food was very good and so was the price. Sadly the last time I ate there (was having my favorite dish - L10 - grilled chicken on skewer with fried rice ) I discovered A SMALL R OACH IN MY MEAL. [the word is mispelled intentionally since this site prevents you from posting this word, I don't know why!] Needless to say it was the last time I visited. While I loved their food, I love my health a whole lot more. Now I'm hooked on Zen Palate's food not as cheap, but good and NO R OACHES.

I used to live in Union Square and I frequented Lannam many times. They have a good lunch special for under $10 that gives you nice portions. Even their reg. price meals are fairly inexpensive. I usually get the Goi Banh Cuon (thin rice crepe) with grilled pork. The portion is huge (more than enough for 1) and it's only $8. The authencity is not 100% but it's good enough if you're craving Vietnamese. Pho is okay. Seating is prompt and even if you have to wait for a table it's never a long wait. Not a romantic spot, just a good place to eat semi-quickly although they never rush you.
