Love the brunch here--it's always nice to find a new brunch spot and especially one that is so affordable. It's also great that you can sit in their patio any time of year no matter the weather. I highly recommend their Little west omelet

started going to revel this summer thanks to a close colleague. nights here always start off as happy hour then quickly turn into adventures. really great prices for this neighborhood and they have good food too. it's one of those places you can go to for drinks and a night out or a good dinner with a glass of wine.

It's pretty cool to come here for a night out, listen to awesome music and hang out in an overall cool space (the garden area is LEGIT) then be able to stumble there the morning after for brunch. My personal fave is the little west omelet. Their home fries are out of this world!

High energy weekend nights - but calm perfect evenings and/or brunches. Apple stuffed Ravioli is NOT TO BE MISSED! DJs are good on Fridays/Saturdays and keep the crowd going. The garden has a retractable roof which makes you feel like you're outside in the winter..but you're actually OUTSIDE when the weather is good. Fun spot - not your typical meatpacking district place. Good prices - good location.

First of all, this place has one of the coolest and most original atmospheres in town, with a retractable glass roof over the brick-wall garden in the back, a long bar, and still a comfortable, cozy feel. I went with a group of friends, and our waitress was so friendly and attentive of our needs throughout the entirety of the evening. The food is not cheap, but still on the cheaper end, compared to the other spots in this neighborhood, and considering that the portions are all generous, and in some cases even abundant. And did I mention DELICIOUS?!?!? Everything was fresh and satisfying, and the menu itself is fun and inspiring-- with an incredible wine-list to boot! The meats and fishes we tried were awesome, as well as the side dishes, and the pastas were homemade and yummy as well. All around, we had a great evening, and by the time we wrapped up dinner, the place was fully packed, and a whole new, wild part of the night seemed to be just beginning.. Will have to go back for a late night of drinking and dancing soon, but will certainly return for dinner as well.

this place is fantastic...i went to dinner at Revel with friends last weekend and we cannot wait to go again...it has great character to it and the garden adds a really nice touch. The owner had sold the lease for a big profit and went to Hawaii that is why there was no new inventory. I hope they reopen some day! The owner should have hired better workers though but its hard in Manhattan. - deez

I knew nothing of the Meatpacker's District, but if Revel represents, then I will recommend it to everyone. I really don't know of many neighborhoods like this one, nor of many restaurants/bars like Revel. Real charm, I guess. An enclosed winter garden, and coming from a place where we've got winter 6 months a year, I can really appreciate. My pasta (I had something like fetucini) was really good and so were the drinks. We were 5 with no reservation and they were able to accommodate us rather quickly. Everyone else had steak (it comes on these huge flat stones which were really hot - watch out!) and they loved them - a word of caution though: if you like your steak rare get it off that stone quick or itll get overcooked!!). But I'm really writing because the service was outstanding. I've had decent NY service before, but this is really a cut above.

Pros: no "waiting list", terrific food and good prices for the neighborhood

Cons: if you're coming at 9 leave extra time - streets are really crowded

Hosted a baby shower there this past weekend for 25 people. The garden was pretty and very spacious for NYC standards. The food was good (not amazing but good), the price was great and what made the day run smoothly was the EXCELLENT staff. Thank you so much Revel!!

We were at Revel last week for dinner on Saturday night. Our friends were visiting from Ontario and wanted a night out in the MPD. My wife and I normally avoid the neighborhood but made an exception. We are both so glad we did.

The staff from the door to the bar to the restaurant were friendly and knowledgeable. The Pear Martini at the bar delicious and kept us happy while we waited for a table.

No complaints at all about the food, each dish was tasty, well seasoned and served quickly. There was an apple pie special which finished our meal on the perfect note.

Have to say, we didn't see anything moving on the street. And if the poster below me was a NY'er they would know that what is on the street has nothing to do with what is inside. This is NY!

I went for dinner at Revel on Wednesday night with my sister who is visiting for the holiday, and I have to say that what I just read on the previous review completely mystifies me. Someone wrote that the food was terrible, but I simply can't believe that they ate at the same restaurant. I worked in the restaurant business for many years, and I know that it's possible that some nights can be better than others in every respect. But when you have food like we did, which was unbelievable across the board, it's hard to imagine that it could fluctuate to such an extent.
Sadly, they must be feeling the pinch like so many other restaurants, and it's probably due to it being the night before thanksgiving too, but there was only one other table there throughout our meal. And while you'd think that a bored kitchen might send out bored food, it was completely the opposite. The tuna tartare was so perfectly balanced, and the crab cake special was the best crab cake I've ever had, anywhere. And I LOVE the steaks on hot volcanic rock! Especially on a cold winter's night.
The server was very very nice, too. This is one of my new favorite spots. I can't wait til the summer when they roll the roof back.

I'm not going to make this colorful and pretty. Just straight to the point.
-excruciatingly slow service I could have grown/killed/cooked/served my own meal 5 times
- the food is just not that good.. sorry..
- the waiter spilled a glass of wine all over me (fell off her tray, thanks, I worked in the service industry and never ones spilled anything on anyone)
-the hostess was snobby
- and i think i saw a couple of new york finest animals right outside the door of the restaurant..(you know which ones i'm talking about) hmm i wonder where they're coming from.

you wouldn't be able to drive me there with a stick or pay me to go here again.

Begrudgingly, I agreed to return to Revel for a friend's birthday party after a less-than-stellar experience last summer. Back then, the restaurant (once known only as No-Name Bar) was very obviously an after-thought relative to the bar, which packed 'em in. While the bar flourished, the restaurant floundered. The servers maintained little presence in the dining room, perhaps because there was only two of them for the entire space and it appeared they were responsible for everything (bartending, bussing, etc.) Then it rained, and our dinner came to an abrupt end.

Fast forward to this summer and I'm pleased to report that Revel has been re-born. The addition of a retractable roof was reason enough to believe that the restaurant was now being taken seriously. The maitre'd rendered the extensive wine list a little less intimidating and brought us two great bottles that matched our food and didn't break the bank. Speaking of food, we deferred to our server on the first course and were brought an eclectic mix of Tuna & Salmon Tartare, Risotto, Grilled Calamari, a Caprese and a Spinach Salad (with strawberries). I steered clear of the Risotto as I'm not partial to the stinky cheeses, but my mates gobbled it up. The calamari, however, was perfectly cooked and the Tartare was surprisingly well balanced. For dinner, the meat was red. My friends alternated between the Sirloin and the Filet Mignon, but it was Bison meat for me. My steak was right on medium rare and came served still cooking on volcanic rock (some of us had our steaks moved to plates, not wanting more heat). I would recommend the Buffalo steak to anyone looking for lots of flavor out of a lean cut of meat and the Filet if tender is more your style.

All in all, I was happy to have been dragged back to a restaurant that had clearly been paying attention to some of its prior reviews. Revel is most definitely worth a second look.

I went to Revel last weekend and was totally impressed. I normally avoid the Meatpacking District, but a friend recommended I go, as she said the food, service and atmosphere were flawless. She was right, I'm glad I went. The back yard area with the roof is beautiful; who knew that kind of space could exist here in NYC? The food was great, too, especially the Hon Shimenji mushroom and fennel salad. The staff was really helpful and super sweet. I'm going again! I'm in love with the place....

I was there twice: the first time on a wednesday for dinner and I found it very relaxing and with a good athmosphere, the music was soft and we had a great sirloin steak on a volcanic stone; service was good, kind and fast. the second time was completely different. On a saturday late night, after midnight, the place is packed and the music is loud! After 1-2am you can sit and take a drink at the tables that normally are destinated to dinner. Really great time!!

I went to NY last week on vacation (from italy). I just wanted to discover the "Meatpacking district", that I had read about on the Internet as the new most exciting borough in NY. One night I went there with some friends, and we decided to have our dinner at "Revel". The location is really fascinating and there is a wonderful retractable glass roof.
We had meat, "filet" and "sirloin' steaks. We were very astounded when we realized they served our meal on HOT STONES, just to let you cook your steak as you want! This is absolutely a fantastic way to spend your time eating, it's amusing and, above all, the meat was really delicious.
After dinner (around midnight) we stayed at the bar for an hour, having some drinks. In the meantime the place had filled up to about 400-500 people!
The ambiance was very casual and warm, we met a lot of very nice girls and we had a lot of fun!
Revel is a place you can't miss if you're looking for great dining and for a lot of fun!

Were going to go to the place next door last Sunday, which I heard has a great brunch with a cocktail special, but the wait was an HOUR, and the hostess had so much attitude I was embarrassed for her. So my 6 friends and I asked if they had space next door at Revel, and they certainly did. They weren't very busy at all, and they do run a champagne cocktail special as well. (I think they will get busier very soon.)
The food was great, the service was very professional and friendly, and they happily honored their deal for my thirsty guests and me!
We will definitely be back.
Oh, when the sun came out and it got warm, they rolled back the roof and all of a sudden we were outside in a garden! It is a beautiful setting. I recommend it.

I went back last week to the 'bar with no name' now called Revel, with trepidation. I loved this laid-back garden and was worried it would have been ruined.

It was fantastic. The menu choices were plentiful and tasty, cocktails were flowing and the service was professional but friendly. They have added a retractable roof so the garden is always open.

Really enjoyed our night there and will return often.

The food is decent but the staff is very slow and inattentive. To cap it all off, when we paid the bill, THE WAITRESS LOST MY DEBIT CARD. This has never happened to me before! I had to cancel the card right there and borrow some cash from my friends to survive the weekend. Seriously, avoid the drama and skip dinner at Revel. Its just not worth it.

I guess we were not only one that service was very bad. I really don't know what management is thinking. Nice out door space, open feel bar, Food was Okay... But the service was worst ever. I felt like I was in a communist country where service does not exist. The waitress took long time to take order. The waitress was rude. Then she forgot to serve wine, I had to ask the hostess for my wine because the waitress never show up after we order drink and food. Finally I got my wine after my steak got cold. I ordered buffalo streak. the waiter brought a beef steak. I told him we order buffalo. He said. oh, this is buffalo. Did i have beef? or buffalo. The waitress passed by our table never attend our table. We had to ask another waitress for check. Our waitress show up with check 10min later. She literally, through check on the table never mind say "sorry I was too busy or whatever". We paid cash because who knows how long we have to wait if we pay with a card? I did not want to stay one more minute there. Miss waitress. Smile. it does not cost you any, you are working in service industry... manager- I do not know it was your busiest day (hire more server!) or worst day, Most of your servers that night was not up to NY standard. restaurants comes and goes so fast in NY.....

Pros: garden

Cons: service

.

Wednesday night the restaurant was staffed with one waitress and nine busboys all fighting for a chance to speak with her majesty. Revel was out of 5 wines on the list, give me a break. I thought she was embarrased, but it turns out she was annoyed with US. That said, the food was good, atmosphere great. Do yourself a favor eat at the bar.

I came here when the place first opened as "no name" a couple of summers ago, and it was one of the best places in the neighbourhood because the people were friendly, hospitable and good at their job. The prices were the best you could find around there, too. I've been overseas for a while, and am so happy to come back to find that it's still one of the best. The place now has a full kitchen, where it used to only have a barbecue. That was great, but this is awesome. The food is delicious, and the staff are friendly, if a little forgetful sometimes. The only negative thing I can say is that it's a shame they had to name it. It was much cooler to take people to when it was anonymous. Always my first choice in the meat-packing.

We were so delighted to find a beautiful garden in the middle of the Meat Packing District. Not only was the food delicious, the service was friendly and the staff actually seemed to care about our experience as opposed to most places in the neighborhood. We had a late dinner in the garden and then stayed for cocktails. Bar scene is thriving and was fun to watch the crowd pour in! Definitely check this one out. What a refreshing change for such an obnoxious neighborhood.

Pros: Gorgeous space, great food

Cons: Bar gets busy - get there early
