Although I have been going to Elmwood small animal hospital for 30 years I was astounded at the bill for 3 shots my dog received last week. I was charged $29.00 for a distemper booster, $20.00 for a lepto shot, and $35.00 for a Bordetella shot that I did not even request. I was also charged $27.00 for a rabies booster (3 yr). Dr. Harish administered the shots and charged me $45.00 for the visit. My total bill was $159.00! My friend told me her bill in February this year for the same shots was $90.00 total at Sheridan animal hospital. When I called to advise the office that I felt ripped off they just said they would let Dr. Harish know, and that different places have different charges. Time to find another vet I guess. Nice way to treat the patients that have been loyal for 30 years.
we took our new choc lab puppy there and paid almost $600 the first 2 visits , made the mistake the first visit by buying into the puppy package , for 290 which they said i would not have to pay for anything more, this visit cost us 100 dollars for crap again, we called another vets office everything he gave us was double the price or more, and everytime we go into this vet the 2 girls sitting behind the counter are playing computer games and look like they should shower?, and the vet is never there?, we are the only ones ever there, great business? never checks out your dog , to busy talking about other stuff that does not matter just so he can rip you off, good luck keeping this vet going , i have talked to many people who dislike this vet that have already changed,, do not recommend!!!!
When I took my vet to this hospital, I saw both Dr. Harish and another who did not introduce himself at the beginning of the visit. Both of them were overbearing. The second doctor actually went to lengths of verbally harassing me for not agreeing to immediately follow through with one of his recommendations that were not necessary for my pet. I spent a half an hour being verbally harassed, called names by him, and even went through a verbal dispute that he would not back down from. He continually harassed me and did NOT care about my pet, only about proving that he was "educated" and "experienced." I left this vet crying, still listening to him act immaturely and yelling about me in the back of the office. This is not a place you want to go if you want your pet cared for.
Thankyou Florence F, I was in almost the same situation he charged me over 500 for a ear infection. He doesnt listen he is a jerk plain and simple. He made me buy a flea medication for my pet that he didnt need, he is just like a used car salesman. I will tell anyone who listens dont ever go to Elmwood small animal hospital. Not to mention the vet assistant who works there is very unkempt thats all I will say about that. He also wanted to charge me over a $1000 to get my dog neutered? i went to Springville animal hospital and payed $260 for a 150lb english mastiff. And He charged me 170 for antibiotics that only cost $40. I demanded my money back and notifiied the bbb, about him and his practices.
This vet's facility is brand new and impressive. However, he is overbearing and agressively annoying if you are asking him questions he doesn't want to hear. I took my pet there for an ear infection, which is chronic with her.
The scale used to weigh my pet was off by 5 lbs which I had to keep reminding him of when he wrote a prescription for mediciation so that he would not under-medicate the dog. He refused and actually got angry when I asked that he write me prescriptions. I ended up paying $113.00 for medications that would have cost me $42.00. On the second, a recheck visit, he did not really check my dog's ear - just flipped it open and proceeded to charge me for a full visit. I have no qualms about paying a vet a decent fee for his services or for medications but I do live on a fixed income and I do not need to overpay a vet who is combative and annoying.
Dr. Harish is a very caring vet. We have a 15 year old cat named Goofy and he has taken excellent care of her. She has a thyroid problem and some kidney problems and is being treated. We live very close to his office and his staff has been great with appointments. Today, she (GOOFY) needed an i. v. treatment and we just went over to the office with no appointment needed. I would highly recommend this vet and his office to anyone.
If you really have sick animal, PLEASE, PLEASE DONT GO THERE, they would lie to you about problems of your animal has. My dog had a stomach problem, in process of "investigating" problem they took almost $2000.00 told me my dog have a shunt (need liver surgery) and refers me to specialist-surgeon.. guess what!! surgeon was surprise to hear about liver.. it not even close to liver..it was stomach problem and its should cost me only $15.00 a month!!
Pros: fast service..for $$$$
Cons: lies overlying lies
This vet's new facility is impressive, however, the vet is not. The scale used for weighing pets was off more than 5 lbs on both occasions that I used this facility. That means dosages of medication are given for the wrong weight of the animal. This vet absolutely refused to write prescriptions and medications that should have cost $42.00 on-line, added up to $113.00 and he was very, very annoyed that I had the nerve to ask for a written precription. Also, one medication that he gave me had been issued by a company that the FDA had closed down. The second visit was a recheck where the dog was hardly glanced at but I was charged for a complete visit. I have no objection to paying a decent fee to a decent vet but this vet is obnoxious and definitely overhcarges on all medications he insists that you get from him.
