DONT BUY CAR STEREO'S HERE. They are aweful! spent 300$ on a car stereo and all they do is tell me that they have to wait for parts, never call me when they come in (i have to go there to have them check for me), the parts are sitting there the whole time (2 weeks!), then they mess up my appointment and tell me i have to make another one! no thanks. ill be canceling my order. way to screw the easiest things up.

Business Response:

Jeff we built the Smart Car store over at our Wehrle location to provide the best possible service for our customers. I apologize for any inconvenience you experienced. However, we were able to schedule your appointment, upon the arrival of your product, and complete your installation. We were glad to resolve any issues at the time of your installation, and we look forward to seeing you in the future. Thank you for the feedback.

Impressive Customer Service

I brought in a Panasonic TV that I think was struck by lightning. I brought it to Lifetime Service, which I heard is part of Stereo Advantage, for an estimate. (I bought the TV when I lived in another state.) I was expecting a customer service nightmare, like you get from Home Depot or Comcast. Instead, two very nice men unloaded the TV from my car and told me they would have a diagnosis within 48 hours. I was dubious, but in less than a day, I had an estimate. My warranty had recently expired so Lifetime contacted the service department at Panasonic and they worked out an agreement with Panasonic for me. Panasonic agreed to supply the parts at no charge if I would pay for the labor. I was amazed. The unit was out of warranty and probably was hit by lightning and Lifetime & Panasonic worked together to save me hundreds??

Talk about going above and beyond! And, I had my TV back in less than 2 weeks, including them having to order parts. I am so happy with Lifetime & Panasonic! Next time?..I??ll buy the extended warranty!

Having recently moved to this area, I asked a few co-workers where to buy a home theater without getting ripped off. Both said "Stereo Advantage" with no hesitation. After checking out the prices at Best Buy and was turned off by their staff attempting to "up sell" me (I think the salespeople there average 17 years old?), I arrived at Stereo Advantage expecting a similar experience. A very low pressure salesperson talked to me about my needs and my budget and found me the perfect product. Very professional- asked me about the size of the room the system was going in, etc.

You've got a customer for life!

Re: Factory Fresh? by Anonymous

This writer is an outright liar. Stereo Advantage sells brand new, factory fresh products. "B" stocks, as they are called, are clearly marked as remanufactured and usually come with a shorter warranty. Many electronics dealers carry these B stocks. In no way, shape or form, would Stereo Advantage try to sell these as new as it would tarnish their reputation.

Additionally, Stereo Advantage is factory authorized to carry, in alphabetical order, Bose, Boston Acoustics, Canon, Denon, Klipsch, LG, Onkyo, Panasonic, Samsung, Sony, Toshiba, Yamaha and many others.

I am NOT associated with this company in any way, but I have conducted market research on this subject in New York and New England over the past two years. All my research indicates Stereo Advantage to be a leading, reputable dealer. I have many friends and relatives who have bought from them and wouldn't shop anywhere else. I am tired of anonymous people leaving scathing, untrue, libelous, slanderous remarks anonymously. They should be held accountable for their actions.

I had not purchased at television in ten years until I bought a 58" 3D Panasonic from Stereo Advantage. Their installation service (Smart Squad?) mounted it above my fireplace, hooked up my new Bose surround sound system, programmed one remote to work with all of my components and taught me how to use everything. The 3D picture is unbelievable and the sound is even better. I can even watch youtube on my TV! The best part is, it's easier to use than my last system. My next purchase is going to be speakers for the rest of the house b/c you can wirelessly expand this Bose system.

I would never let anyone else in my home. Oh, and my salesperson was knowledgeable, friendly and patient. Thank you guys!

I have purchased three televisions here over the years. The customer service is always top notch. I feel like a respected customer no matter what my budget is, Stereo is truly a great locally owned business. I feel as though my business is appreciated, unlike when I go to big box stores. Support local business!

Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. The store is much nicer than the big box stores that don't; have any trained sales people who can help you out. The selection of TV's in incredible and have a lot of new technologies. It was fun to see everything that is new.

I understand change is the fruit of life and that Stereo Advantage is never going to stay the same but it is not what it once was. It was once a place were the average guy who knew nothing about electronics could get a great deal on quality equipment. It Is now a place were you must wait in line to find a sales person. They have a VERY SMALL Show Room Now! The bulk of which is filled with desks. Great, so i get to wait for a sales person and watch somebody else work. Ive been a customer since I bought tapes and record players the late 70s. Ive spent 10s of thousands of dollars in this store over the years. I Loved this Store for what it was not what it is trying to be. It was a wholesome store with No BS. The sales reps are still great and informative. The store now has low end products in what apparently is advertised as a high end company. They Sell Refurbished equipment from their service center on their display walls(Not all) its pathetic, they wont tell you. Its more of a fun (awkward/ disheartening) conversation with Sony. They may stick around for a while because of their old reputation and stock pile of money the Bigot Owner has. I will no longer shop in their coffer shop/ Office I will be spending my money down the street with the other guys who actually have the high end gear they advertise!

I use to shop here in the 90's. Wow things have changed for the worse. I remember a vibrant and exciting place to shop with great prices. The front of the store now looks like an overpriced law office with a receptionist. The following room looked like a dull office board room, and the third room looked creepy like a boiler room with row after row of desks. Before even entering the show room they want to pair you up with a sales person. Finally I found the retail portion of the store, but sadly it was loaded with (B)ad (O)verpriced (S)ound (E)quipment. And finally a cloak room to test speakers. This use to be a great store in the 90's. It looks like a pimped out law office now. Amazon.com price on Energy RC Micro 5.1 $599, Stereo Advantage price $999. No advantage here, try a box store. Save the gas.

Been a customer for over 30 years. Products and service have always been great. Sales staff are not commissioned. Never been hounded for sales. Staff go out of their way to educate you on the new technologies. I wonder if some of the comments here are left by competitors? Highly recommend you visit the store and talk to staff. Ask your neighbors and I think you'll find highly positive feedback. Stereo Advantage has been around since the 70's. They would have been out of business long ago if some of the comments in this blog were accurate.

The second I walked in I was hounded by commission-driven salespeople that wanted to up-sell the living hell out of me. The second I revealed my budget I was left for dead.

Every time I've gone in this store, no one ever wants to help me. Last time I went prepared to buy a video camera and sales person who took awhile to find, told me the one in the ad I wanted to buy wasn't good and steered me toward a much more expensive. Every time a man went into the store dressed in nice clothes the sales people were all over him, but me being a mom with two kids was ignored.

Spent over $2k on tv etc. Salesman told us about the "flip it for free" warranty. Told us that we had 5 years warranty or we could "flip it" and use it as store credit but the warranty would then be null and void. What a crock! We spent over $180 on the warranty only to be told its value is 10 percent on any store purchase. So in order to really flip it for free, we'd need to spend another 1800!!!Don't waste your money or time. Go to Best Buy, Sears or Circuit City.

After purchasing 2 Ipods, one needed to be replaced three days later. Despite the overabundance of sales people, it was difficult to get any help. Staff seemed disinterested and unapproachable. The management staff (Aaron) was particularly hostile. The good price is definitely not worth the aggravation.

Cons: The staff have chased the customers away

Got new speakers and eq/amp installed. Bought amp myself, got speakers from them (jbl's). Speaker price was good, installation price was fair ($30 per pair speakers and $60 for amp/eq).
It stopped working w/in 3 days of installaton. Went back and had to make an appt to come back a third time. Tech checked it out and insisted nothing in their installation was at fault. Had to take it apart myself to find the bad ground, now it works.
The manager of Car Stereo at the Stereo Advantage wouldn't even return my calls, had to call store manager. They gave me some money back and a gift card for my trouble, but no apology from anyone.
Wouldn't go there again.

PROS: Good price and selection
CONS: Horrible customer service!!!!!

Stereo Advantage is located on Main Street in Williamsville. It is sometime is sometimes a pain getting in and out of their parking lot but it is the only thing negative about this store. The staff here really knows what they are selling. This is a great place to go because the people here really know what they are talking about.

Stereo Advantage is your alternative to Best Buy or Circuit City. Parking is available in front of the store. It is a smaller store and therefore a more limited inventory. Prices for electronics are above average (for the non sale items) as compared to a major retailer. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend, provided you can find a good deal in the local paper.

Stereo Advantage essentially offers the selection that can match up with larger places like Best Buy and Circuit City in a smaller, more intimate venue.

While in general the sales staff has been excellent, I have on occasion encountered one that was a bit more pushy than I would have liked. That is the exception rather than the rule however and I've also had some exceptionally well infomed and couteous salespeople.

Generally the best deals they offer are weekly specials that are advertised locally in the weekly Gusto section of the Buffalo News. I've picked up a couple very nice items for a very cheap price this way, including a great set of speakers.

On the other hand, theire non discounted pricing is a mixed bag, probably running a bit towards the higher end, They do have excellent price matching policies, but it's something that's incumbent on you to pursue.

If you're in the market for electronics, this is aplace that you shouldn't overlook

PROS: Good selection, occaisionally great deals, generally well informed staff
CONS: Non-deal pricing is iffy. The occaisional pushy saleperson
