This vet just recently moved into my neighborhood and I decided to give them a try, since my 12-year old shepherd mix has been having some health issues. I'm really glad I did, because I met a great group of vets. Dr. Quagliata was happy to take the time to discuss some acupuncture options to help with my dog's arthritis and limping, and they also provide dental cleaning through another doctor at the practice (Dr. O'Byrne) right in the same hospital. All the staff I met during my visits was very friendly, and I definitely recommend this place to all the animal lovers of nyc!

Our pets (and we) have been clients of the West Village Veterinary Hospital for over 10 years. Not only is it conveniently located, it also brings quality care and dedicated staff to a "neighborhood" practice. Several of our dogs have special needs and we have always felt that these were well addressed by the team at West Village Veterinary Hospital. Although the practice has undergone some staff changes over the past few years, the quality of care has remained consistent. In addition, the front office staff strive to create a professional, friendly environment and make every effort to accomodate each client's individual needs. Although West Village Veterinary Hospital does not have emergency hours, their sister hospital, Tribeca Soho Animal Hospital located on Lispenard Street (downtown) have appointments available on Sundays and always have a veterinarian on call after hours.

I moved to chelsea so figured i would look for a vet close by and gave this place a try. I have an older dog who has pretty bad teeth and she got an infection.. so went to get it checked. The vet was UNABLE to open my pet's mouth and take a proper look at her teeth.. (sure my dog freaks out but other vets were confident enough to open an 12lbs dogs mouth). Instead she pointed out age related "problems" my old dog had that i was entirely aware off. She guilted me into doing unnecessary test which (i knew!) would turn out all fine. (at costs of about $500). On the date of her proper cleaning she gave me yet another call telling me that my dog has odd (small) growths on her mammary glands. I pointed out that this has been tested before and turned out to be nothing. Again she guilted me into doing this operation. I figured it would be a small incision and not a big deal - but it ended up being 7 inches long. my dog was in severe pain. oh yeh and guess what.. the teeth were still not cleaned, the tests turned out negative (exactly as i suspected), and i just waisted yet another $1200 on nothing. long story short. this vet clinic looks nice bc they suck every possible penny out of you - not considering your dogs well being. I am still very angry about all the tests, operations and unnecessary vaccinations. My dog is old and fragile - everything should be considered for her benefit and not for the $$

Pros: clean, friendly

Cons: care more to make $$ than for your pet

I'm a physician myself and I have to say I am *very* impressed with the professionals at WVV. The doctors there are young (but not green) and as such are up to date on the newer treatments that are available. They seem to have a good medical record system because every vet seems to very knowledgeable about prior treatments. I think having several doctors working together helps keep them all on their toes, as they frequently confer about animals (such as my cat). Also, they call your cell phone, answer emails, and are liberal with samples and extra medications. I really like these guys. Dr. Quagliata and Dr. Berk are especially excellent.

I'm a huge animal lover and have brought my three pets to 2 other vets in the city. None of them compare to the trust that I have in the doctors & staff here. I've seen both Dr. O'Byrne and Dr. Berk and they are both great. I had to bring in my Fender Bender for a teeth cleaning and some dental work. I was scared about the anesthesia, but they made sure that he was ok to go under and took the time to answer all of my questions. Another time, my Boris was not feeling well and it was 9 at night. They were still open and took care of him immediately. 9pm at night! I was so happy that I was able to bring him to my own vet that late at night, instead of an emergency hospital. I slept very well that night! I trust this hospital completely. They understand that these are my babies!

Pros: Location, Hours, Doctors & Staff

I recently brought my new puppy here and I was impressed with the friendly staff and doctor. The doctor was extremely knowledgeable and took the time to answer all my questions (I had many!) and talk with me about training my new pup. They seem to have great hours as well. Thanks West Village Vets!

I just went in to speak with a vet about transferring my very sick dog from the Animal Hospital in Hells Kitchen to their new 8th ave facility. I asked the young girl behind the desk if I could speak with a vet and she asked what the problem was. I briefly explained my situation, assuming that would suffice in order to get face time with a vet. She asked me more questions and I very politely asked if I could please speak with a vet. She went into the back and came back moments later saying that what needs to happen is that they would need to review my dog's file, etc...

Is this really the way you treat a prospective new patient?? I don't even get to meet a staff vet and ask some basic questions before considering transferring my dog into their care?

There was no one waiting to be seen and I could overhear idle chat amongst the staff in the back- but not one staff doctor could find two minutes to meet with me.

I'm disgusted by the treatment (or lack of) that I received from this place and I will be sure to let everyone in the area know about my experience.

I called the west village hospital for my beautiful Boxer Jacques... On a sunday they of course were closed, BUT! They had an alternate location in Tribeca. I called and they squeezed me in even though it was so busy. I was totally freaked out about my dog. He had stopped eating and and was hacking like a dinosaur. I had to wait a little bit, as it was so crammed with more desperate situations than mine, but I was put at total ease when I met Dr. Pattillo. She gave my baby the right medicine, his hacking stopped and he started sleeping soundly. Me too! She also gave me some great suggestions for clearing his lungs and how to generally make him (and me) feel more comfortable. I can't recomend her highly enough. She was direct, honest and warm, without freaking me out the way other Vet's have in the past. I'm hooked. Thanks Marion.

Pros: Dr. Marion, Let a new patient in on the busiest emergency day when most places are closed.

Cons: None.
