My boyfriend and I had such a wonderful dinner at Klee that we we went back for brunch the next day. The pea soup was velvety and perfectly seasoned, adorable little lobster rolls so tasty. My boyfriend had the fire charred steak which was tender, delicious and juicy. Everything we had was really good. The waiter was so nice and recommended a great wine (something Austrian) and the prices were great. Brunch was equally delicious -- we had Austrian pancakes (I could not begin to spell what they were called). We will definitely be back many more times.

I was really excited about dining here, but came away very disappointed. We arrived fairly early for a NYC diner: 7:45 PM on a weekday, and the restaurant was about 1/4 full. Yet, it took 45 minutes for our table to get our measly three slices of bread...we were seriously expecting something warm and freshly baked based on how long it had taken, but what arrived was three thin slices of basic, dry bread. The entrees arrived 15 minutes later with mixed fanfare--the steak and lamb dishes were pretty good, but the duck was unusually dry--like leftover turkey white meat..and it had an overbearing "woodsy" taste. But it was the BBQ Pork Belly that shocked us all. While pork belly is a fatty cut, what arrvied was beyond belief---a $30 2x5 inch strip of pure lard and skin...there was not even a trace of actual meat--just pure fat...I've never seen anything like it and though it mortified me to do so, I had to send it back (something I've never done before.) To boot, the $70 Bordeaux was about as good as a $9 Kendall Jackson.

Pros: Polite/Friendly Staff; nice berry bread pudding

Cons: Slow service, inconsistent food quality. overpriced wine.

I sat at the bar alone on a Sunday evening after a long day of work and felt so good after I left. Had the daily pasta which was perfectly seasoned, made in house and just delicious with organic chicken. The salad had fresh ingredients like endve, radicchio and brussel sproutsand the perfect blend of flavors. And I loved the range of half bottles of wine which is great for dining alone. The sommelier (owner or manager maybe) was really knowledgable and personable and the staff made me feel really welcome. A great experience.

Pros: Fresh ingredients, great wine list

The duck breast was super-tender and delicious, the mac and cheese exquisite and the pork belly, OMG! We were having too much fun to make a wine decision, so our waiter picked a smooth and tasty 2002 Inu Contini that was very reasonably priced and a perfect compliment to all of our meals.

We can't wait to return for another fantastic meal!

I live on the uppe west side so it was a bit of a trek for me to go to Klee but my friend insisted and she has exceptional taste. Klee was an excellent suprise and not like many restaurants. The design and architecture is truly beautiful with an Italian mosaic wall, warm eco-friendly reclaimed wood from Canadian maple trees, fun swivel chairs and lovely purple banquettes. The food is so pretty and well-conceived and yet delicious. There is nothing ego centric about Klee yet it has its own identity. I went on a Saturday night so it was packed (but I wanted to try the Wiener schnitzel). It was crisp, high quality and rich with flavor yet not over weaned or overly heavy. the egg in a hole salad to start was fantastic, creative and edlicious. Our server was sweet and smart and even funny. The staff seem to have a good time working together and this feeling is infectious. Klee is fun, unusual, smart all the way around and it has a great wine list. i think you have to understand food and design to get it. it's different so it's not for everyone -- for this I am thankful. Someone needs to bring back originality without the arrogance. Hats off to Klee!

The Chef at Klee beat Bobby Flay and my boyfriend and I are big fans so we had to have the menu and it was amazing. the most moist popcorn crusted chicken and sturgeon with caviar and white choclate so creative and delicious. The waiter was really knowlegeable about the beer pairings and the way the food was coked (talked about the cooking methods i neer even heard of). I had to wait at the bar for 20 mins and the bartender let me sample the wines by the glass and was so nice and accommodating. we will definitely be back with friends to try the regular menu too.

After an absence from the City for awhile, a friend took me to Klee on a recent visit. This Chelsea newcomer is a welcome addition to New York's already fabulous dining. The ambiance at Klee was fun, the drinks were creative and very tasty and the service was simply outstanding. But one goes to a restaurant to eat ....and this is a great place to do just that. Chef Daniel is unique and very talented. We sampled several of his signature appetizers and they were all wonderful. Our main course was superbly cooked and presented and thoroughly enjoyable. I am very pleased to have been introduced to Klee and will certainly pay a return visit on my next trip.

Cons: none that I found

The food at Klee has been fanstastic every time my boyfriend and I have been there (over 5 times). The chicken soup is presented in such a creative way, everything there is very aesthetic but does not compromise the quality and taste of the food. The food is as good as and far better than many of NY's top /famous restaurants. Here they are low key about being great. There is no hype, just great food, beautiful decor and great service. The wine list is also well versed with so many unique well-priced choices. While Klee is not cheap it is a grat value because the quality of the food and ingredients is really superb.

We came to the place this November as we missed the opening last winter and were very curious: we have been eating in Daniel's former Restaurant. We liked the atmosphere with a fresh joung, but not too modern touch. I would like to have some more light. We got a nice table with a view into the kitchen. I like it, when they do not hide! The friendly young waiter overacted a bit: relax! The menu was inspiring and we easily found something for every ones taste and some good wine for reasonable prizes. The food was very nicely presented and very tastefully made out of fresh ingredients. This is, what I call "clean" cooking into great taste and excellent look. If I would be living in New York, I would be there often: we came two evenings.

Overall, Klee gets some things right and some things wrong. Inventive drinks were fun and tasty. The pizza app & homemade chips were very nice. Lobster rolls were fine, but bread was dry and they were nothing special. Rigatonni special was horrible (a friend mentioned Ray's Pizza next door would have been better - and 1/4 the price!). Lamb Shank "pie" was serviceable, but pretty bland. Pear torte was fantastic, but the apple crisp was pretty doughy and tough. Bread pudding was simple yet fabulous. Decor is pure Ikea send up - though it's obvious many of the elements are custom, it just goes too far. The place could be a gorgeous blond wood mecca, but unfortunately wicker spheres and leaf garlands hanging from the ceiling (among other excess) push over the border into kitsch.

This is a great restaurant. The service is great. The food is excellent. The wine list is terrific. I've liked everything I've eaten there. They have these special menus that are totally reasonable. The last time I was there, it was a cheese menu (meaning, not just cheese, but dishes including cheese) with the wines to accompany each dish. In the summer, they have a special peach sangria that's great on a weekend afternoon. They also do special picnic baskets in summer, which I never got around to taking advantage of, unfortunately. The decoration of the place is lovely, seasonal. I've been here several times, and I think that my general feeling about the place is that it is very original. I don't think you'll find this kind of menu elsewhere. Had a minor order snafu the last time I was there. I was given the wrong dish. The correct one came out very quickly. The kitchen sent out little milkshakes after dinner and lessened the over-all bill, and we hadn't even complained! Now that's good business.

OK, so that doesn't really rhyme. Nonetheless, Klee is excellent all around. Great Austro/European-inspired menu. Satisfying yet not heavy, inventive yet straightforward cuisine. Superb wines and cocktails. Friendly service & vibe. Comfortable, contemporary 'west chelsea' atmosphere and design. Highly recommended - I'll be back! My only complaint - fix the AC (and bring the bread before our appetizers arrive)!

They are nice from the start and you can feel a very pleasant neighborhood feeling in this little gem of a restaurant. They know their repat customers and welcome them as they arrive like friends. The hostess is particualry amazing and pleasant, the bartender, studied and serious and probably officially a mixologist, offers interesting fresh juice cocktails and great Sangria. The food is first class and equal in quality to some of New York's best chefs. The Chef is present (unlike New York's best chefs) and he is clearly hands on as the details are all carefully consider to make a very pleasant dining experience.

I've been to Klee several times now and every time has been a great experience. The chef constantly has new, inventive offerings - and the food is always excellent. The Alsatian pizza is a must-have! Other than that I've tried various pastas, fish, and meat dishes - all very tasty. The owners are very friendly, as are all the staff members. The atmosphere is fantastic - not too fancy, but a nice hip vibe. They also have a very reasonable wine selection.

The softshell crabs I had at Klee two weeks ago have brought me back two times since. The food is nothing short of exquisite. The crabs were lightly battered in a tempura and served with fiddlehead ferns, fava beans and wonderful herbs. There are so many interesting menu items to choose from. All the talk about the Alsatian pizza lives up to the hype -- cracker thin crust, smoky bacon and sweet onions. Great atmosphere too. I waited at the bar for my friends to arrive and the crowd was attractive, lively and the staff friendly. The host/owner is so accomodating and warm, the bartender was really knowledgeable and engaging, made a gerat martini and the service overall was well informed, personable and efficient. Definitely among the best restaurants to open in the past year.

Klee is my new favorite restaurant. The pork tonnato is delicious and different, the best mini lobster rolls in town and the monkfish is ezquisite. I've been many times and am continually impressed by the inventive menu, the chefs new creations and spins on familiar dishes. the atmosphere is great too -- gorgeous design, friendly staff and owers and a hip vibe that stays warm and familiar at the same time. Such a great restaurant!

Klee Brasserie is SO confused. There is no brass anywhere and they don't use clover. The female owner is a angry woman who has a tendancy to abuse the guests. (I saw her yell at one guy) The chef, Austrian, hides his roots and instead reached ALL over the world for his menu. Decor: IKEA? The wine list: ok but, pricey.

Let me just say- Klee has solid food. Appertizers are much better than most NYC 5 star restaurants. Entrees do get a bit underwhelmed. Services, by far, are first rated. People who work here seem to care about their restaurant. Decor is cool, not overly Chelsea-fied, not too generic either. Price-wise, cheaper than most upscale restarants in the hood, but more $ than Cafeteria-alike. And the BAR! Love it. Here, you're paying for the food, not the wallpaper.

However, I think Klee has an identity crisis. It wants to be a comfy cafeteria but at the same time, it thrives to be upscale. Weekends are bustling here while weeknights are so much more cozy. I prefer to come here for an early drink and appertizer, but services are almost too much at times and become intrusive. It's not a complain (I do truly enjoy conversation with bartenders-- very professional & friendly), but I can see how some customers have wrong expectations & get confused. Some get genuinely surprised by the food quality, while others expect Danny Meyer-ish circus digs. I just think Klee is trying to do something people are not ready to grasp.... solid / approachable yet understated / high priced. Klee almost requires its customers to be knowledgable to appreciate it.

For the price and the food, this place is under-hyped and much more solid than most places NY Magazine has reviewed (IMHO of course). Try it for yourself to decide. I am definitely going back.

Yummy! This place has the best paella and roasted lamb I have ever had. The hangar steak and potato chips are also a must. If you're a beer fan, go for the belgium beer. Be sure to call for reservations for any chance of eating at a decent hour.

Although Klee is not in my neighborhood I find myself traveling to it often for the varied and creative menu. I love the scallops with lobster risottoa and the lamb shank is the best I've ever had. there are so many dishes I want to try on the menu I keep going back but I feel this will be a never ending quest to try everything on the menu because the chef changes the offerings on occassion and I am told they will change the menu for spring too! Klee is different than many restaurants in NY because the food is simply prepared but is unique, creative and not at all pretentious. I've ben mostly during the week and the crowd in very NY -- hip but real, diverse and interesting. the decor is stunning, with Italian glass tile and soft lighting. Everything at Klee is well thought out in the design and menu. The more you look and the more frequent you go the more you see it's charm and elegance emerge. I'm a huge fan and think it's the best new restaraunt in NY!

Klee Brasserie is a bit of a misnomer - there is no brass anywhere in the restaurant and certainly no Klee in the kitchen. The chef is Austrian, as we were told by the over-attentive waiter, who in the same breath tried to talk us into an appetizer of lobster rolls before we had even decided on a drink. But if he is Austrian he knows how to hide it. The menu tries to please too many and therefore lacks focus. I settled for the "chef's own sausage", a German bratwurst on a bed of sauerkraut. I liked it. But I also used to like the same kind of sausage at "Hallo Berlin", for half the price. The food tastes good at Klee, as far as I can tell from one visit. But there are a lot of places in NYC where you can get good food plus an atmosphere that is beyond Design Within Reach. The complete lack of genuine atmosphere made me skip my beloved dessert wine. Speaking of which, the wine list in general features mostly over-priced mediocre wines plus the occasional high-end Bordeaux for show. Again, no focus. No brass, No Klee.

My first time at Klee was enjoyable. I love the look and feel of the restuarant . Everyone was pleasant enough but I wasn't WOW'd by the food. I had the scallop dish and it was good but not great. My husband had the wagyu steak and he was much happier with his meal. All in all I would return for a second go around and try a different dish. I'd say it's worth a shot to see for yourself...but I would be a bit leary of all the rave reviews on the food.

I had a great birthday dinner at Klee last Saturday. I had never been and was surprised by the intimate environment and delicious food. Klee is really a gem of a restaurant. The dishes were innovative, exquisitely flavored and aesthetically pleasing. As a native Tokyoite, I appreciate these touches, and Klee met and exceeded my expectations. Of what we ordered, my favorites were my boyfriend's swordfish with barbecued glaze, my sweet potato side which had a hint of curry and the apple & horseradish sorbet. I also highly recommend the very rich and sweet, hot chocolate (the kitchen actually sprinkles real vanilla onto the top of the whipped cream). The staff was professional and courteous, from taking our coats to our wine and food orders to answering all of our questions. Our experience was delightful, and I have been recommending Klee to my colleagues all week.

Our experience was delightful, and I have been recommending Klee to my colleagues all week.

Pros: Quality of food and service

Cons: Should make reservations

.

Went to Klee with a large group of self proclaimed hard to please people in the fashion industry -- and we left very pleased and even made 2 reservations for dinner while we were there. We shared first courses and had the shrimp cocktail salad which is a light and creative combination of large Florida shrimp on a bed of avocado mousse. simply perfect. We had the Alsatian pizza which is even better than all the hype about it and we had multiple salads including the blue cheese with fourme d'ambert and the arugula salad with pink peppercorns and grapefruit. wonderful. For main courses we had the swordfish, halibut, scallops, wagyu steak, pork loin and lamb shank. Every dish was prepared perfectly, so much flavor we could not stop raving about it to our server and the owners (who visted the table). The atmosphere, lighting, design were all so unique, pretty and inventive I cannot stop talking about this restaurant. I'm afraid I won't be able to get a reservation again when everyone finds out about it but it's too good not to share!

Funny coincidence that I was at Klee last night with friends sitting at the bar when a guy "qualitymeats" made a scene inthe middle of the restaurant and cursed out the owner (who is a woman). He was drunk and belligerent! I live in the neighborhood and go to Klee regularly since it has opened. It has great food (especially the Alsatian pizza and pork loin -- not to be missed) and the service is friendly and knowledgeable. It's the only place I go to in NY where people remember me and really take care of me when I am there. It's my favorite restaurant.

Klee epitomizes all the best qualities of a true neighborhood restaurant. I've dined there only twice, but the hostess greeted me BY NAME upon my arrival the second time. The chef came to our table on our first visit and asked for our thoughts on each dish. My second visit was with a large group during a very busy Saturday night; but despite the frenetic Chelsea crowd, the manager stopped by and talked to each member of our party to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. These kinds of personal touches are all too rare in New York, and they contributed to wonderful dining experiences on both occasions.

I've had daily pasta specials for appetizers both times: Once, their version of puttanesca (although they call it by a different name), and more recently the rigatoni bolognese. Perfect pasta is another rarity in New York these days, but Klee pulls it off effortlessly. The wagyu beef is very good, and my date's swordfish was sublime. If you go on a Saturday, be sure to try the wiener schnitzel -- it's one of the best in town, and their presentation is very unique. For dessert, my personal favorite so far is the sorbet, especially the wonderfully different gravenstein apple with horseradish. Delicious!

I wish there were more restaurants like Klee in the city.

Klee has a nice, cool atmosphere. However, that?s where the compliments stop. The food was underwhelming and the service was unremarkable. The psycho manager freaked out b/c we didn't give her a raving review of the restaurant. Sorry but watery lobster macaroni and a cold wagyu steak don?t deserve a thumbs-up endorsement. The best part was when the managers got defensive of our "cold" review of their food and yelled at us to go back to "Jersey". Sorry to disappoint but we are from NYC. I can't wait to see what restaurant opens up in the space when this one closes shop, which can't be far off.

I was looking forward to my reservation at Klee for weeks and was extremely disappointed by the entire experience. Not only was the service poor, but the food was not that great. After being seated about an hour after our reservation, we were still in high spirits of a good meal ahead. But each dish was more disappointing than the next. The only highlight of the meal was the homemade potato chips they gave us as a thank you for being patient while waiting for our table. The food was so bad that we decided to skip dessert. When the staff asked us how our meal was, they became defensive and rude with our honest answer. Not only will I never go back to Klee, but i will never recommend it to others.

This is an amazing little restaurant! I ate at Klee for the fist time a few weeks ago based on a tip from a friend and could not stop talking about it for days after the dinner, recommending it to anyone who was willing to listen. I couldn't wait to go back and broke the tradition of not going out on Valentine's Day to try Klee's special menu. It did not disappoint! Every dish I've had at Klee has been so incredibly thought-out in the way that the flavors worked together, it was perfection! What I especially love about Klee is that its food is much more interesting and creative than the usual brasserie fare, which can get boring (even if well-executed) after you've had it enough times. You can definitely taste the European influence, which made it a more exciting dining experience for me.
Klee's salads are amazing (and I don't even like salads!). Definitely try the char tartar appetizer. Divine! A swordfish entree is also a must. (The chef knows his way around fish and seafood like nobody's business.) And when you see the dessert menu, you will wish, as I did, that you had skipped the rest of the meal and ordered three courses of dessert. The bread pudding was excellent, as were the profiteroles. The sorbets had a slightly coarse texture reminiscent of granito and had incredible, confident, fresh, delicious flavors. And the opera cake was terrific.
The excellent food is complemented by warm, elegant decor, mellow, unobtrusive service, and a lovely hostess who goes above and beyond the call of duty to make sure that every one of her guests has a great time. I could kind of see what some of the other reviewers were saying about the service being a little on the slow side, but it didn't bother me in the least. Just gives you more time to hang out and enjoy the delicious food and the company of your friends. And if that keeps you away from Klee, you probably don't deserve it anyway?

I had wonderful first experience at Klee. I say ?first? because there will be many many more. From the staff, to the ambiance, to the most important thing: the food, I was satisfied on all levels. The restaurant is remarkably warm, made even better by its staff, which had the right personal touch, always making you feel comfortable, and never making you feel rushed. While it is a smaller space, you definitely do not feel cramped in any way, and while it was certainly filled to capacity, you could easily engage in conversation. And then there was the food: I had the braised short rib ravioli (one of the specials for the night) and the chicken. Both were prepared to my liking, and I let both the chef and hostess know as they unexpectedly came to check on how my dining experience was going. Lastly, I was rewarded with the Bread Pudding for desert that cannot be matched. Overall, I will say, as I did in the beginning of this review, that this was a wonderful dining experience. I hope others get to enjoy it too; I know I will.

I will go back because the place is so warm and cozy yet very cool decor. Also, the food is great. The only con was the service and loud acoustics...slow, slow but somehow that always is better than feeling rushed. The bartenders were sweet so might try dining at the bar. Definitely get the char tartar....yummy. All around way above average. If they work out the service kinks and decibel so you can hear your conversation it's a 10.

Finally, good food, pardon me...great food, delightful service, class yet comfort all in one. This is a definite keeper! What more can I add that hasn't already been said? In the 3 consecutive weeks that I've been (yes, it's becoming a ritual) I've directly (or by way of rude table-reaching) had the scallop w/barley risotto, pork chop w/cabbage, lobster mac and the hanger steak each in its own rite simply impeccable. Did I not mention the pumpkin bread pudding...one of those "shhh...I need a moment" experiences (smiles). And to boot, regardless of the time you dine whether it's early evening, late night, week or weekend the quality of the food, presentation and service always on point. Thanks to Klee for raising the bar in the neighborhood...and yeah for us!

What a wonderful addition to the Chelsea restaurant scene. Everything we ate was flavorful and delicious. And the portions are just right, too. The space is inviting and warm with just the right mix of interior design and art. It's not overdone. Great looking crowd, too.

We love Klee. We have been there several times now for both personal dining as well as business entertaining. The food is outstanding, the staff , always pleasant. It is so nice to dine in a restaurant where the owners are there nightly and personally come to table to check on their customers. Klee has excellent food, a hip flair, and the personal touch. We'll keep coming back.

We happened upon this place one night and were so pleased to have found it. The food was meticulously made and delicious, while the restaurant felt both elegant and homey/cozy. The porcini chowder was fabulous, as were the perfectly cooked scallops. They clearly know what they are doing. We will be back.

A darling new neighborhood 'find' in West Chelsea. I returned to Klee for a second visit last evening whereupon I was warmly greeted and quickly seated at the appealing blond wood and mosaic bar. The kind hostess brokered an introduction to some fellow diners and and soon enough we were all sharing deliciously decandent duck prosciutto, lobster rolls and Bacalao. The wines by the glass selection is wonderfully varied and the carafe option a great value. The Alsatian thin crust pizza melts in the mouth, deliciously light and loaded with lardons. The lobster mac and cheese was divine though I couldn't figure out if it features regularly on the menu or represented just another whimsical treat devised by the chef that evening. Needless to say the carbohydrate coma kicked in soon thereafter but I do recall feeling similarily satiated on a previous visit by the succulent Pork loin. All in all absolute treat - pop by for a solo dinner at the bar (you won't be alone for long) or return with friends to show off your new 'find'!

Some friends and myself had dinner at Klee on Thursday night and the place was alive and great in many ways. We had the Alsatian pizza which was delicious, the char tartare was fresh and interesting. I'm told the soups were great too (was not allowed to try them). For main courses we had home made linguini with goatfish which was the best pasta i've had in NY. My friend had the swordfish steak which was amazing -- huge, fresh, flavorful and cooked to perfection. The service was warm and knowledable and the design is creative, smart and very cool. The place is chic and modern without being cold or pretentious. It was the best dining experience in NY Ive had in ages. Can't wait to go back already for the pork chop!

I have been to Klee with friends and clients on numerous occasions since it has opened and have had an absolutely wonderful time every single time I have been there! The environment is classy and sophisticated yet warm and comfortable, and the food is excellent - completely was out of this world. Everyone - from the lady who took our coats, to the servers, to Daniel (the Chef ) made us feel pampered and at home. I have lived in this city all my life and have been to many happening great restaurants, but I have to say that Klee outshines them all. What a gem!

I love Klee - I have eaten there many, many times and believe that, contrary to the review below, it is (somehow) getting better, not worse. The restaurant is simply gorgeous - chic, without being pretentious or overwrought. The service is warm and welcoming. And the food is just spectacular - the tarte flambee, the pastas, the mushroom chowder, the lobster roll, the schnitzel, the desserts - just spectacular. One of the many things I love about Klee is that it was designed with the customer in mind - the food, while glorious, isn't about the ego of the chef, it is about creating a delicious, comforting and accessible experience - but it's never boring - creating that balance is very difficult and Klee pulls it off beautifully. Similarly, the hostess, the manager, the sommelier, the bartenders, the waiters, the runners - they focus on you, the customer, in a way that is sorely lacking at most restaurants. And have you tried the brunch?? Fantastic. New Yorkers should be thrilled about the addition of Klee to the restaurant scene and, as someone who lives in Chelsea, I feel blessed to have it in my neighborhood.

The food is delicious--I especially love the swordfish and scallops, and the pumpkin bread pudding for dessert is not to be missed. The design is beautiful, and the lighting is gorgeous. Warm and friendly service rounds out the evening. I have already brought out-of-town guests there and they raved about it to their friends at home--the perfect NY experience.

- I wrote this review( please see below) last week and it seems that the Klee Management team( or an employee)- have been writing there own wounderful reviews about there own restaurant(that is so shady). How do I know this because they reference my own personal review. Please please be smart ( real citysearch users) - I am telling the true about my horrible experience at Klee- Becareful or it could totally happen to you- Everytime I ride by Klee in I curse them!!
?Klee the worst mistake of my life?
I ate at Klee last week for the second time (because the first time was amazing). The food and service really went down hill from the first time I was there. The pork chops were all fat and not really cooked through all the way (isn?t pork supposed to be cooked?). I brought a celebrity friend of mine who couldn?t even eat her scallops because they were horrible. Also, another friend informed me that the risotto he ordered was basically rice oatmeal. I was so embarrassed that I recommended this place and it turned out to be a big disappointment (WORST EVER). I had the food taken back and then the blond host/manager came over and offered us something else (by that time we were so over Klee all we wanted to do was get out of there). They gave us free desert for our troubles but that stinks for me because I don?t eat desert. And at the end of the meal the manager came over again to apologize. I told her what happen (in regards to all the food orders) also letting her know that I do not eat desert and how I didn?t even like the desert (because other people at the table did not like it) and she said " Wow your hard to please"- I was so upset!! And then they still charged us for the horrible food. They even called me later in the week to apologize again-Klee is NOT CLUTCH.
P.S Don?t get me started on the rubber sword fish.... stay far from Klee - trust me!!!

Klee has only been open for two months and I realized today that it has become my new local spot; I've dined there at least once a week. Having lived in Chelsea for 15 years I've seen many restaurants come and go, Klee seems to be here to stay. I knew right away that this was going to be a great restaurant when I heard that it was chef-owned and chef-driven but what I didn't realize was how huge a spot they are filling and how consistently great the experience would be. It has a very friendly menu featuring a large number of dishes. Whether we are in the mood for seafood, meat, pasta or whatever they have something to offer (even tasty vegetarian options). The prices are extremely reasonable for the quality of the food and the atmosphere. Klee offers many wines by the glass and a large selection of half bottles of wine. The design is very pleasing and the bar is quite comfortable for dinner. I find the staff to be gracious and professional. I cant say enough about this place... Klee's food is outstanding... truly delicious. Don't miss it!

This place is a jewel. The service is warm and welcoming, the atmosphere stimulating without being too loud for conversation. Chef Daniel Angerer is extremely talented and creative. After a few visits, standouts for me include an elegantly prepared lamb shank, a rich and refined macaroni and cheese with lobster, and an exceptionally done fresh pasta with roasted cherry tomatoes and olives. Among desserts, the baumkuchen is not to be missed. The price range is lower than one would expect for this level of quality. A well-balanced wine list (a bottle of Chateau de Fieuzal was superb) tops it off.

Couple days ago I read review in NY Post about this restaurant.
Although it isn't in my neighborhood I decided to pay a visit to this new place and to my surprise I was fascinated. Great host, very charming young lady welcomed me and my companion. We were seated at the bar where we got excellent service, from great cocktails to knowledgeable explanations of foreign dishes.
all in all i had great time there and I would recommend this place to anyone who likes good food, great atmosphere, good service, and excellent hosts .

Cons: still under constuction

I've followed Chef Daniel Angerer from fresh to Klee for his halibut and lobster rolls and am even more impressed that I was before. The menu at Klee is so varied and filled with delicious choices. I had the showrdfish steak which was incredibly flavorful and cooked to perfection. The tarte flambee is definitely the best in NY and the sacher torte was lovely, light and traditional, the way it should be. Klee staff was friendly and warm and the place was beautiful. I cannot wait to go back!

but the food is good (not exceptional). The service, however, is another story. The hostess seated as quickly and pleasantly. Then the wait began. It took at least 15 minutes for our server to ask for our order. Once we did order, things moved very slowly as if time had been set in slow motion. The server seemed disinterested. As a neighbor, I am disappointed to say that it was a frustrating experience for the price/quality. I though the shrimp appetizer was interesting and flavorful. The hangar steak was cooked properly but had little flavor. The ice cream was adequate. I am sure that many of my issues will be worked out in time, but the disinterested service at the beginning of a restaurant's life is reason for concern. If the delays had been kitchen-related, I would have been more understanding based on the newness of the venture. If the hostess (owner, I believe) is able to get her staff excited about the place, I am sure it will be a success. The area certainly needs nice restaurants.

Pros: pleasant hostess, location, look

Cons: service

A wondeful experience - the restaurant is a nicer version of casual with elegant appointments, a beautiful and spacious bar area and completely delicious food. The Alsatian pizza melts in your mouth - you literally stop and take notice.

OK. I'm a fool for lobster rolls. So I live with disappointment. But I've found a chef who understands that the lobster is supposed to be the main attraction! So I thought my second visit to Klee -- the very new, hip and trendy but comfy and friendly (who knew those terms could be said together in one sentence?) -- would be for a second helping.... Wrong! I caught the scent of lamb shank and the rest is history. Beyond tender. With beautifully roasted root veggies--poached in Rioja! Which, by the glass, is lovely. And I started with that Alsatian thin crust pizza I read about in the Times (but had to look up "lardon"--it's like bacon, but better). With Vidalia onions and creme fraiche. So now I'm a fool for the pizza, too. Met both owners--and understand why this place is so special. Go NOW, before getting a reservation is a three month wait!

Pros: cool yet cozy; interesting wine selection; really great food

Cons: lobster roll is a "small bite" dish. I want...more!
