When the prize is $100, and the bar advertises a contest, you'd think, "this is no small potatoes."
But no, no one was allowed to enter on merit. They hand selected 3 "finalists" that were just their friends and didn't let any one else

This bar really caters to all sorts of people. They bring in great local talent and really try to promote local musicians. Very allentownish and fun when you are in the right mood.

Host to some of Buffalo's best live music. Something different every night of the week- no matter what your musical taste, they are bound to please you. Usually a $10 cover for bands. Sunday nights are the Allen St. Jazz band- (never a cover) one of Buffalo's better small combos. Slow bar service. Good tap selection, fair prices. Has a small patio outdoors for smoking, but keep the volume down please! Not-so clean atmosphere, but not trying to impress. Limited (grungy) "facilities", and not so clean "overall". Watch Artvoice for the weekly lineup. It's a Buffalo institution, so give it a try!

Pros: Good music, "interesting" people.

Cons: Concerned with cleanliness? Avoid Nietzche's

A great daytime place to meet and drink with the city's writers, painters, musicians and intellectuals. Have a beer with them on this side of the bar.
