If you've got a passel of picky eaters, go to Johnny Mack's and you can satisfy everyone. The food is basic, and fine. But not rave-inducing.

Everytime we talk about going out to eat and we are in the vicinity of Johnny Mack's my younger daughter suggests it. She loves the food she has eaten here and loves the games she can play ... video games and pool. The atmosphere is relaxed and very kid-friendly. The burgers are great, as well as many of the other sandwiches. I also had a butternut squash soup once that was outstanding.

It's a decent enough place to get a burger, but I have witnessed the owner being mean to staff, customers and passerbys. No thanks

The staff makes the place. Lenae behind the bar is just terrific and Amanda on the floor is a total sweetie. The steak arugula salad is good as is the chicken pecan salad.

I have not been here in years because I went once and had a horrible experience. Silly me - I recently decided to give them another try - WRONG WRONG WRONG ! The wait staff is still utterly mindless. I asked for water like 3 times, finally got up and got my own silverwear from another table and the place wasn't even crowded at the time. I was there with my kids and they brought everyone's food but the youngest...we all sat there and waited for chicken fingers because the kitchen can't time its food any better than that. DO NOT GO !!

They have great wings -- very juicy, great sauce, tons of wings for $10. The burgers are pretty good as well.

I've never written an online review of anything but felt compelled to do this. This place is horrible. The management does not care. The food is sometimes OK, but also bad. And, when it is bad, the managers will be rude to you if complain.

The saddest thing about this, is we just moved to the neighborhood and were hoping to find a local place. This seemed like it was it. Looks great, nice selection of beers, and the waitresses are very nice. However, the food is b a d, and the management does not care.

Stay away, you will be sorry.

My kids love to come here and play the games and pool...come prepared with quarters. My husband and I enjoy being able to have a great burger and a couple of beers with out having to entertain the kids so much.

I never eat in at Johnny Mack's, so I can't vouch for the truth of the other reviews here that say the service is terrible, but I can tell you that for a take-out burger in South Slope, Johnny Mack's can't be beat. Well-cooked, great fries, just greasy enough. The price is right and the burgers are great--far FAR better than Flipsters on 7th or Dizzy's on 8th.

oh man where do i even start...so my girlfriend and I went here for a dinner, man oh man, for starters all the bad reviews i read seem to be spot on, the owner "tony" who carries himself like a some pathetic mob wannabe is loud, arrogant, and completely condescending to his staff in front of customers, and the female manager that was there is rude and miserable, the restaurant is actually nice inside but the atmosphere is absolutely ruined by all the children that run around completely out of control, i can't stand parents that think they are entitled to let there kids ruin other peoples evenings, completely tacky and classless, i had kids literally running around me like they were at a playground and the parents do nothing...as for the food my girlfriend got the mixed green salad which was about $8 ..total ripoff, my beer was completely flat and when i asked to exchange it the manager treated me like it was my problem,,,so all in all, bad owner, bad managment, bad food, and way too many annoying children

So my friend suggested we eat here last night because it's right near her house. I read the reviews on here, and consented, because it was FREEZING and frankly, I was lazy. Never again. First, it took the waitress (Jessica -- memorable name, as we share it) several minutes to greet our table. If it was busy, I'd understand, but there were maybe four tables in the bar dining room. My friend asked for a glass of water and I asked to see the beer list. She came back with the list, and no water. A few minutes later, she came back (still with no water) to take our order. The beer list was absolutely unappealing, so I asked for a glass of water as well. My friend ordered the chicken fingers with buffalo sauce, and I ordered the burger special (cheddar and jack cheese with jalepenos) substituting a side salad instead of fries ($1.50 extra). Nearly 20 minutes later, with empty glasses of water on the edge of the table, our food came out. Well, HER food, mine was completely the wrong sandwich. So I sent it back, and the waitress shuffled over to make some half-hearted apology. TWENTY MORE MINUTES and I finally got my burger. It was fantastic, but not worth the terrible, terrible service. The icing on the cake was having to ASK for our check, and to need her to fix it (I got charged twice for the salad substitution -- under normal circumstances, I'd wave it off as just a dollar fifty, but not after everything else that went wrong). Still, the check was $23 for a burger and chicken fingers. If the service was good, it would have been worth it. Alas, it sucked. Save yourself the aggravation and go somewhere else, unless you're one of the unlucky saddled with children.

A great neighborhood spot. Fast and friendly service every time we?ve been ? and we go often. Yes, be prepared to be around a lot of kids (especially in the main dining room) but don?t forget you?re in Park Slope. Always am happy with the burgers and salad!

If you like dirty dishwater for soup and a mushy pile of undercooked slop for a burger, visit Johnny Macks!!

Echoing several other comments on this board, the manager is nothing short of a maniac. I didnt want to eat the raw pile of pureed lima beans that was supposed to be a veggie burger, so I politely asked for something else. Rather than offer his apologies or another option, the manager made a scene less mature than my 4 year old. My dinner and the dinner of my 6 tablemates was thoroughly ruined. Needless to say, I won't be back.

Cons: The food, the staff, the memory.

The food at Johnny Mack's is terrible. It's hardly a restaurant. I don't understand why everything is so over priced? The manager is a brute who yells in the dining area and shows no regard to his client's comfort. This place is awful. On top of it all, everything on the menu is ridiculously over priced. The only good thing about it is the building that houses it - it's a large space with a nice looking bar, but again, don't go to this "restaurant" if you're looking for food. There are plenty of restaurants in Park Slope and this is not one of them.

Any good reviews of this place must be an unauthentic - they sound unauthentic and it's impossible that anyone would think that johnny mack's food is any good. I bet the owner wrote these himself.

I don't even know where to begin!!!! Friday night my boyfriend & went.....UGH! The servers MUST be on tranquilizers...there were children with pool sticks!!! And nobody to tame these animals running from the "play room" to their tables...Where do these parents get off letting their kids run wild? A cool pinball machine, OVER PRICED menu. Mixed greens for $8? Really!!! Burger was good but not worth the wait....20 minutes for a burger and a salad...Bartender was just as drunk as the locals by 9pm....Truly with all the other options in this neighborhood I will never return to this place.....Inattentive server didn't help either. I sat with an empty soda for 15 minutes, which was neither coke nor pepsi, must've been some cheap imitation....GROSS for 2.50 I should get the real thing!!! One would think...no ketchup, or condiments for that matter. Table top was filthy and streaky. The shirts those poor girls must wear are terrible. Not funny in least. And apparently the owner was at the bar...I over heard him talking. Living in this neighborhood for 7 years I can only say that people have mentioned this ogar, Tony Soprano wanna be of a person. It is really true. The best part of the whole place is not the $5 scoop of ice cream it's the RED HEN next door...Oh one more thing...the bathroom smelled awful...kinda like a really old air freshener...GROSS. So overall definitely gotta skip this place, especially living or visiting such a cute neighborhood

I work for a very prestigious company and I was looking to host a day time event at this venue. The manager was extremely rude an his lack of interest in my business was appalling...they must have a very established restaurant to be able to turn away such a valid piece of business. I would never inquire about an event there again and will pass the word on to my colleagues...many of which live in the neighborhood...

Friendly and attentive service. Good beer selections. I had the lobster ravioli--good size portion with a delicious vodka cream sauce. My husband had the chicken porcini--he said it was the best meal he's ever had in Park Slope. We've lived here for 2 years and tried just about every restaurant on Seventh Ave. I will definitely go back.

I have been to Johnny Mack's many times simply because it is less than 1 block from my house. I would never travel to come to this place. The food is average, the drinks simple, and the clientele boring. I can olny recommend this place if you have no car and means to travel anywhere else. One funny thing is the group of four regulars that sit all day and drink Jeigermeister, they are Brooklyn's finest.

Just enough of a sports bar for my boyfriend, and just enough of a stylish restaurant for me. Technically, it's split with a bar side and a restaurant side. I've always eaten on the sport's bar side, because it's more laid back and lively. but even that side is definitely more refined than most straight-up sport's bars. Great food, good selection of beers, and a friendly staff. The bar is also usually bustling with regulars in the evenings.

Another fairly uncontroversial one. Johnny Mack's is good. Not astounding. But better than okay. I think it's not astounding simply because it's exactly what you expect from any of the thousands of bar/restaurants in New York. All the menu
